Rudy's Chicken

It’s just not the same anymore. They don’t season it like they use to (if any) the customer service, if you can call it that is lacking. The chicken is never fresh. This was my third time within a month because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but after waiting in line for 42 minutes to be served cold fries, bland and lukewarm chicken on top of them being out of almost every side, I just couldn’t bare it. Hendersons has taken the ranks. They also have added automatic gratuity without having a sign that displays this. So now you’re adding a tip for bad service and nasty food? It’s sad at this point. Sub par at best.

The Chicken is PACKED with flavor! The fries are PERFECTLY SEASONED! And the Banana Pudding is the BEST in DALLAS!!! I left my card at the drive thru in case any of my fellow Rudy's lovers need any work done! (I asked 1st before leaving it on there)

This use to be a fantastic place but now it suck’s. The fries were cold/ we waited for 50 min to only get COLD CHICKEN AND FRIES. I took my mother there for her first experience because when I lived in Dallas some years ago it was good food. Disappointing is what we were served. BEWARE OF SLOW SERVICE AND COLD FOOD. They do take CARDS NOW.

The chicken was very good and warmish, the fries were hard and cold. I didn’t get what a paid for so check your order before you drive off. I paid for a breast wing thigh and drumstick.. I got 2 wings instead of my breast and the employee said nothing about it being substituting anything. Good chicken

Honestly, how is this place still open? Do yourself a favor: drive in the opposite direction and stay at least 10 miles away for your safety. The chicken was awful – unevenly seasoned, some parts bland, others overpowering. Beyond the bad food, the location felt genuinely unsafe; I was truly scared of a carjacking or even a shooting. This isn't just bad food; it's a bad, dangerous experience, bad customer service, and a complete miss for 'hood food' standards.

I was told over and over to come here. The chicken tasted a bit oily and bland.. I'm disappointed that i didn't just drive to Williams 7 minutes closer. My favorite spot around here is royals fried chicken off of Polk. this chicken doesn't come close, i would have paid double for royals instead of this, and they were the same price. Overall would not recommend, and feel unsatisfied. The guy also forgot my drink and I had to come back around.

STOLE MY MONEY!! On July 12, 2025, I purchased a 10-piece chicken order from Rudy’s Chicken on Lancaster Avenue in Dallas, TX. After returning home, I discovered that only five pieces had been provided. I immediately called the store and was transferred between three different people before being connected to a woman named Kendra. Kendra acknowledged the error and told me that she would authorize a full replacement of the order. She took down my full name and informed me that I could come any time before Monday to pick it up. I asked if Sunday, July 13 would be acceptable, and she confirmed that it was fine even though she wouldn’t be present that day. She stated she would write my name and situation down so the staff would be informed. When I arrived on Sunday, July 13, the staff confirmed that my name was written down, but they refused to honor the replacement because Kendra had written “Monday” on the paper and was not present. Even with visible proof that my name and order were documented by management, they refused to help me, dismissed my explanation, and treated me rudely. One employee even walked away mid-conversation, refusing to address the mistake. This experience was extremely unprofessional. The restaurant acknowledged their error, documented the resolution, and still refused to make it right, essentially stealing my money and time. A customer should not be penalized because a manager is not present to re-verify a promise that is already in writing.

I love their chicken wings. Yesterday I arrived about 20 mins after opening. I guess they had a late start as the drive thru was barely moving and the walk up was closed. But shortly after they everything got to moving. I had to order at the window and my order was ready and given to me with my payment and receipt. Food was hot and fresh. They used to serve the shoestring size fries now they serve the bigger sized fries, which I don't like.

Well dropped the wife and kids off at Love Field . Turned right out of Love Field, turned that Larry June all the way, up! Called my side piece ( even though I shouldn't) and said I'm coming through for a 10 piece and a 5 piece, boo what it do? She treated me like she usually do. She sent me home smiling, don't know nobody need to know what we got going on, and we gon eat it that that way! My chicken breast could've had the skin all the way on it, but who amongst us haven't had a bad night? I'll be back!

Food took forever to get but we finally got it. It was good, service just is always so slow. Rudy's is typically always good tho!

Always good! Can't wait to go back. First time eating there in Texas. And took a huge bottle of sauce home.

This place has been a favorite of mine for many years. Yes there is always a line and you will have to wait but it's more than worth the wait. Rudy's has some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I usually order their chicken wings combo which comes with fries, pickles, & bread. Their seasoning is so good! They also have regular chicken, whole chickens, and chicken tenders. I recommend Rudy's Chicken but also advise anyone to pack their patience when going to the location.

Food was on point.. rudy's did it .. definitely check it out back on their thing. 5 stars for sho today

It's a Dallas staple. The prices are reasonable. The food is good. The lines are usually long unless you come super early. I wish the service was better but when I'm in the area I'll stop by. Also, this isn't a sit down restaurant. You can walk up and order at the window or wait in the drive thru line.

Five stars! This is my second time in Dallas, first time @ Rudy's and it was good! Slow but good! And honestly I didn't mind the wait at all, the line seemed to flow pretty well. Also my food was hot and well seasoned! The red beans and rice was RED BEANS AND RICE! PRESSURE! Thanks y'all! I didn't get a picture bc I inhaled it lmao [[ Ordered: 2 Piece Dark with Fries, 3 piece with fries and 1 order of red beans and rice]]

Thumbs down. Customer Service is like Ft Knox. They serve you through a window like you are at a bank. The food is lukewarm with no seasoning. The workers have bad attitudes. Go at your own risk. Not much else to say.

Always a line but always good. Might have to ask for crispy fries and get your bread on top of the combo not the bottom. The peppers and pickles juices blend in together but the flavors marry well. Def go back to this local staple.

Eh I haven't gotten my food yet but the customer service is trash. I don't understand how a car that pulls up after me get to order their food before me. Need to fix y'all cameras and speakers in the drive thru. I got a 2 piece wing combo and it was cool nothing special, the fries could've used some more seasoning.

Great chicken place. I used to frequent (as a paramedic in Dallas) the original Henderson's Chicken when Herman Henderson ran that at Thomas and Hall decades ago. I've tried both of his grandkids' places and was not impressed. This is much closer to that bit of heaven that Herman created (hey, it's still not as good as old man Henderson's chicken, but I suspect none ever will be). Everything we had here was great. Another patron encouraged us to be sure and get some Rudy's sauce, and we were glad we did. You should do that too. Will return next time I am in Dallas.

I like coming to Rudy's when I come to Dallas but the last two visits the customer service was a ZERO. My food was cold and they did not get any of the three orders of chicken right. While ordering the older gentleman was overheard saying he was checking out and I quote, "this lady's ass." Then asked for me to repeat my order about three times. I was a hour away so I called two days later when I was closer to Dallas. I was put on hold for the lady to talk about me while on a live line. It'll probably be forever before I return to this low vibration establishment.

I don't know who Rudy had in there the other day! But the cook was on point his food was flawless! They got us in and out as fast as they could and I appreciate it

The chicken is good hood chicken, but the service is horrible. It takes to long to just get your order taken. I will not be going back.

We were told this was a MUST and I have to say...a must...No! It was crowded, drive-thru to the street so we just knew this was thee spot...but No! The employer taking the order had an attitude, we thought maybe he was having a bad work day so we brushed it off. The CHICKEN-EXTREMELY too much salty seasoning. It was crunchy tho. The fries were drenched with seasoning and I'm not commenting on that white bread at the bottom of the box. We had a large order so my daughter said she don't believe the chicken was clean because she had a feather and she was grossed by the veins. So my thoughts were...not a MUST, but if you just want some chicken I guess its alright. The sign where you take the order needs to be replaced, the building needs a fresh paint because its just old and if its that busy, they making funds, update the establishment.

The food was decent but not what it was hyped up to be. The main suggestion is I hope they get a new intercom system because I had to scream my order over 5 times.

Food is very tasty for sure. Not in the best area at all so I suggest you grab your order & leave as quickly as possible lol! (BUT SERIOUSLY). And very cheaply priced, only problem is sometimes it can't be a little salty. Just wish they had more locations across dallas.

We waited an hour to order and another 15 minutes to pay and get our food. The tenders was dry. Chicken lacked flavor. Add more seasoning to the food. We tried to get salt and pepper for our chicken. We was rushed out of there when it was finally our turn. Hot sauce even costs and it was a lot. I ain't paying $0.83 for hot sauce. Everything about that place sucked, even the service. I don't see what people like about that place. Worst chicken ever. One of the worst in customer service, if not the worst.

The fries were cold, soft and undercooked. They didn't have any salt on them. The chicken was not seasoned at all, so so so gross. I wasted my time and money. I waited 40 minutes and spent $25 on food we couldn'teat.

Why on earth do people flock to this place? We decided to give them a try since we were kinda in the area and let's just say that we were highly disappointed! The line was wrapped around the building but it moved at a good pace. Customer service could use some work, I can't eat from a place with bad energy. Aside from all that, the chicken was not all that! I can fry chicken at home and dump season salt on top, I really thought we would be getting something different and special.

Chicken just isn't great like it used to be. Flavor lacking and a bit undercooked; not worth the 40 minute wait.

1 star for Roberta and the fast service. 1 star for the fries and that's it. I had a taste for some chicken tenders and decided to go to Rudy's. DO. NOT. Tenders were soggy and flavorless, had to be drowned in Rudy's Sauce, not worth the price. The corn fritters were harder to chew than the tenders. Avoid both on the menu.

Child, all I can say is pissed off and rude people make the best damn chicken. LOL Really, don't come here for the warm and fuzzies, but do pick some chicken if you're hungry, hangry or horny. At Rudy's you'll definitely find your WINGman, but you may have to let him try your breast, leg and thigh. Smooches!

Rudy's is the best chicken in Dallas- hands down. The prices are great and the line is always packed. I ask for extra seasoning because it's that good, but be careful not to numb your lips because it's very salty. They don't have dirty rice anymore (disregard it on the menu). And the fries are classic and also top with their seasoning. Be prepared to wait in the drive thru or out front, but it's well worth it!

Honestly the chicken was hot, crispy and delicious! Sprinkled with seasoned salt on top. The fries however both times I have tried this place, are waaaaay over salted! To the point that I have to throw them away, and can only enjoy a couple that didn't have much salt on them. I would definitely go back for the chicken, but I would ask for no salt on the fries.

I have to come to Rudy's every time I come home to visit. They never disappoint you def get your money's worth at this spot

If I could give this bullshit -1000 stars i could. Not only was I waiting for an hour for a 4pc and chicken strips that when i got them all the breading was falling off. They had the nerve to give me extra chicken that was old. Close this bitch down immediately

Alright, leave that new years resolution or diet at home, trust me, it has no place here at Rudy's Chicken! This spot has been around for years, and with good reason; They make some of the best fried bird in town! Of course, that is as long as you're willing to brave the line this place keeps constantly around it. Rudy's was actually renovated a few years ago, but still dishes out the same tasty crispy fried chicken, that not only the neighborhood has come to enjoy, but also people from all over; They have a special place in their hearts for Rudy's. Everything you get here, from the crispy, piping hot chicken, to the sliced bread is everything you need to feel that warm homestyle comfort food feeling. On this day we ordered several items. We had a 10PC dark meat chicken, 2 orders of fries, and a 15PC order of chicken gizzards. We ended up with a lot of food and get this, it was only $24! Compared to most fried chicken restaurants, this is an awesome price. Everything on the menu is very reasonable cost wise, and that is always a plus in my book. Now for the food review: The 10PC dark meat was obviously the star of the show here. There's no extravagant bags, no beautiful garnishes... just an honest bite of crispy, well seasoned, juicy chicken. The breading is not heavy at all, and it comes out piping hot, mostly because they are constantly busy and are cooking it up non-stop. The fries are the thinner style, which I find perfect for accompanying the meal, hot and crispy, seasoned well. The gizzards are breaded a little different, still well cooked, and seasoned well. It did have a bit more of a bite than how I prefer mine, but they were still very tasty. The small extras are sliced bread, jalapeños, and pickles. FYI: all their items are seasoned with what seems to be the same combination of spices, which there is nothing wrong with, but I know to some that might matter. Bonus: If you really want to get the full experience, take a slice of bread, lay in a few pickle slices, over that place 3 or 4 french fries, finally a nice big SKIN ON piece of thigh meat. Ketchup if you like, and enjoy!! This place lives on in our Dallas Area and will for many more years to come, still holding its place in the top ranks for fried chicken in our town and in our hearts.

Chicken was dry and their fries have changed. Definitely not like it use to be! I miss the old Rudy's!

The food is good. The wait in line will forever take an hour minimum to get your food. The customer service is trash. They are so rude.

Some of the best Fried chicken in town. But basically only have fries for sides even though they say they have others but are sold out always. Long lines, no sit down area and always have vagrants asking for money unfortunately

chicken is ok it's the customer service that made me loose my appetite waiting a ridiculous amount of 50 minutes just to loose my appetite by 2 disrespectful representative who was speaking very rudely I just feel this restaurant needs more coordination with ordering and they need more training on proper customer service representation. just rude and mean.

I stopped by Rudy's today after work and ordered a 2 piece dark with fries and gizzard basket. Rudy's has come a long way compared to back in the day, and I don't mean in a good way. Shame on me for not checking my food before leaving. I got home and found two small pigeon legs and fries. neither the fries, chicken, or gizzards had any seasoning on it. No pickles or peppers. I don't know, maybe they were out of seasoning or having a bad day or shift change.

I've loved Rudy's my whole life but these thick fries hurt my feelings every time. Bring back the thiiiiiin fries PLEASE!

Got food poisoning, this was on 3/15, my birthday of all days and I made the trip as a present to myself. The fries are always soggy and cold but I go for the chicken wings, not the fries. The flavor is hit or Miss depending on who's cooking that day. Sometimes everything is seasoned well, sometimes it's bland.

The last two times lately chicken and fries were old.They changed fries brand.Usually we can't wait to get home with their chicken.They changed fries but todays fries were regular cut but both chicken and fries were really old. I called them and they said bring it back and I'll make some fresh ‍! I live on the other side of town so I won't be back!Man we used to really love their food but this is our last time

Good seasoned chicken!! I'd rather wait in line the 15-30 mins for some hot fresh seasoned from the crust to the bone chicken..it's a weekly trip, now!!!

I took a train to come and get some of this chicken and made it before 9pm so I can get food and they closed the wlk up order window early.. Another day walked up at 8:20pm and again Walk up was closed again early... Obviously Rudy's so not care about they're patrons without cars, because they serve patrons with cars throughout the business day...

Really not sure on this,but the word on the street..is not as good as once was.Before covid and when a newer place..you had to wait out on street long lines.even hired a cop to direct traffic.Don`t see that any more,but hey,gave a good rate huh.Williams chicken @ Westmoreland and ledbetter is great[not all williams is as good f y i.

I'll tell you that Rudy's has the WORST customer service in a history but I keep coming back. I'm okay with it because what they have to deal with. You have people trying to sell socks, cakes, cookies, underwear, and ask for your money while you are paying for your chicken! Lol, they have to come out and shoo the people away hassling paying customers. I craved this place the WHOLE time I live in another country. I love Rudy's! My top chicken shack. Now when you order make sure you have your money ready. If not, you will get some eye rolls or a come on now! Lol, and check your order before you leave. Sometimes they give you the wrong basket. Overall, I wished they would open up another location and I'll always be a customer at this location! But Rudy's staff, try to cheer up for the customers that love your chicken. Be more pleasant...

I had to come back and edit my rating. Unfortunately when I got home a dead roach was in the bag with my chicken. I can't believe it. I would have never thought that I would experience this here. Rudys is a no for me.

Worst place ever! I wish I could give them negative stars. First off, the messed up my order, charged me for the wrong items, tried to lie about it and then refused to refund my money because they claimed I was never in the drive through line. Beyond unprofessional, rude and full of crap. Save your money and time and go somewhere else.

I find this interesting! I lived in Dallas from 2011-2015 and loved Rudy's chicken. Now I have returned back to Dallas in 2020 after living in Washington D.C. HUGE Difference!!!! I ordered some Rudy's by phone so I wouldn't have stand in those ridiculous lines and when I arrived, my food was ready. I was excited! It had been years since I had Rudy's chicken. Although I enjoyed my meal; a 4 basket chicken Wings and fries with a can Pepsi, I realized environment matters. The chicken was over seasoned. But that is the only complaint I have. I don't see myself being in a rush to pick up more Rudy's chicken unless I'm in the area but if you are hungry and craving chicken, Rudy's is the place but be careful with the extra seasoning! I thought of health complications.

Sooo.... I had to revisit this spot because the first time I was under the weather and was just over everything by the time we arrived ... so this time was much better... we ordered only chicken wings this time and they were right on time.. crispy crunchy hot and fresh....will definitely e back

If you were ever down in this part of Dallas, this is the go to fried chicken place!!! Reminds me of what my grandma used to make.
