Our Thai hosts had specifically intended the "Ruen Jarung" restaurant weekend-visit as the highlight of our BKK vacation. (Ruen: Home/House; Jarung: Family name.) From its website, the place would only operate on weekends and limited to three seatings a day, with pre-orders of food required.
Given Michelin-star, 2025 and other culinary-recognition awards under the stewardship of "Uncle Miao", fans have, in recent years, come from far and wide, both locals and tourists. This is despite its rather off-the-beaten track and unique location.
The environment was truly classic rustic: serene lakes with ducks and geese swimming merrily, a well-maintained variegated cacti garden, surrounding plains of padi-rice fields etc.
Our hosts had ordered some 14 types of very popular Thai food (my apologies for not knowing most of the Thai names of dishes ordered), including an evergreen Thai dessert custard. We studiously savoured each and every dish, highly "aroi mak-mak"!
The long wooden tables on the premises were able to accommodate dining groups of more than 10 people comfortably, which contributed towards a much convivial and celebratory atmosphere and ambience.
Veritably, the restaurant was able to provide the diners with happy memories and recollections of their visits!
Definitely, a must-visit again, if possible!
