Best Chinese Restaurants in Thailand to Welcome the Year of the Pig

"Located on the Rama IV side of the Montien Hotel, this café is open 24/7 and focuses on Thai-Chinese comfort food. Hainanese chicken rice is their most famous dish. The soft, moist chicken is thickly coated with a special soy sauce that comes in two varieties - light and rich - which both complement the dish; the accompanying rice is robustly flavoured. Keep in mind the chicken rice is only available from 11am until it is sold out at around 5-6 pm." - Colin Ho

A unique take on steamed rice topped with chicken, located in the heart of Bangkok at The Montien Hotel. The dish has a strong ginger aroma, which I personally love. They offer four types of sauces, each with a different flavor, allowing you to mix and match to your own taste. I also ordered the apple-carrot-ginger smoothie, which had a bold ginger flavor and a bit of a spicy kick. If you're not a fan of ginger, I’d recommend skipping this one. Lastly, I tried the fried tofu puff served with a sweet sauce. It came with a large shrimp inside, and the taste was excellent—crispy and flavorful. However, it was a bit oily.

Worth every penny!! A hidden gem you should try whenever visit Bangkok. A space rich in Eastern charm and nostalgia, blended with modern touches. Filled with ceramic details and beautiful decorations. The food is simply outstanding, definitely fall in love with Hainamese chicken rice!!

The famous khao man gai is delicious. The portion of one set is enough for two people. The chicken is moised and tender but the rice is a bit bland and need to be eaten with sauces which come in four difference flavours. The service is ok even when there are many customers and the price is reasonable for hotel restaurant.

I swung into Ruenton Restaurant at Montien Hotel Surawong in Bangkok, craving their Hainanese chicken rice, and it was a total win! 🌟 I hit this classy mezzanine spot, all teakwood and warm vibes, and settled in for a plate of that steamed goodness. The chicken was silky-smooth, paired with fragrant rice cooked in broth that had me scooping seconds—served with a cucumber slice and a tangy chili sauce that gave it just the right zing! 🍗 The portion was spot-on, though I could’ve begged for extra sauce. I squeezed into a snug table—busy with foodies and hotel guests—and savored every bite, the subtle flavors popping like a quiet Thai classic. The staff floated around, all smiles and efficiency, dropping off my dish with a nod while I eyed the dim sum carts tempting me for round two! 🥟 I tried keeping it neat, but that juicy chicken had me wiping my hands like a rookie—messy but oh-so-worth-it. I soaked in the refined yet cozy buzz—spotted a guy slurping soup like it’s his last meal! This place nails Thai-Chinese comfort, no street chaos needed, open daily from breakfast to late dinner. Tucked in the hotel’s heart, it’s a gem—already plotting a return for more chicken rice and maybe a dim sum detour! 🚀

Overall, the food was amazing! The Hainanese chicken rice and seafood rad na were absolute winners—so good I’d come back just for them! The xiao long bao was tasty too, while the turnip cake was just okay. For dessert, the star was definitely the Snow White Taro—super delicious! Highly recommend ordering it early because it is freshly made (took about 40 mins). The caramelized bananas were nice, but the Snow White Banana wasn’t as impressive as the taro. All in all, the hype is real—great food and totally worth the visit! 🎉

The food is amazing so flavorful but it’s quite expensive though - understandable since this is a hotel restaurant. The service is great and the atmosphere is really good. Although the tables are a little bit too big. I would recommend coming here with friends or family because the portion is quite large.

Walked in on a Friday evening without reservation. The place was not crowded like I expected which was a good thing. Seating was comfortable and spacious between each table. Food did not take long to serve after ordering. Portions were good given this is a premium chicken rice and I think it was all the sauces that made the chicken special. I personally enjoyed the 2 sauces on the right the most. The Xiaolongbao was also good and not too salty.
