"Rugby House is hosting a party for Beto supporters thanks to Laura Gunn for State Representative Texas HD-33 and Collin County Democratic Party. Chow down on traditional Irish bangers & mash and fish ‘n’ chips alongside burgers, wings, nachos, salads, and more pub fare." - Alaena Hostetter

Google
Finally got a chance to check out this place since I’ve been looking for an Irish pub that has good chicken tenders. And at long last I found one I really like with McSwiggins in 2nd place. The food is excellent with both the fries & the chicken tenders cooked very well. Service was very friendly and I also dig both the European style lamps & the 2 pinball machines in the front. I have no idea why it took this long to finally check this place out, but I am so get happy that I did since it’s now in my top 10 most favorite restaurants I’ve checked out here in Texas. Definitely recommend eating at this place. ^-^

Best fish and chips I’ve had since England! Chips are done the right way! Fish is flaky with the best flaky crust! Homemade Cole slaw that is addicting! Great selection of beers including Draft Guinness!

Rugby House Pub in Plano stands out as the quintessential pub experience in North Dallas. Its unrivaled reputation stems from a harmonious blend of key elements. First and foremost, the warm, convivial atmosphere creates an inviting haven for patrons seeking camaraderie and good times. The pub's commitment to authenticity shines through in its selection of fine ales, stouts, and ciders, curated from local breweries and beyond. What truly sets Rugby House apart, however, is its devotion to live sports. With multiple screens broadcasting games, it's a sanctuary for sports enthusiasts. And if you want a game on, just ask the lovely staff to help you out. The pub's hearty, delectable menu further solidifies its position, offering a diverse array of classic pub fare, all prepared with a deft, gourmet touch. From savory dishes like Shepherd’s Pie to succulent sandwiches and the classic Fish N Chips, every dish is a bloody triumph. The attentive and friendly staff add the final touch, ensuring each visit feels like a homecoming. All these facets converge to make Rugby House Pub the unrivaled destination for those in search of an authentic pub experience in North Dallas.

I think this place is highly underrated! The place has an amazing atmosphere, typical pub though. It’s very chill and has booth and regular tables. It can seat small and large parties. It’s on the smaller size though, and they don’t take reservations. The food is really good, it was tasty and fresh, and service was prompt and attentive. They have a good selection of beers, and cocktails. If you want to watch a game and just enjoy some good company while being able to talk, this is the place!

Google
Best hidden gem in Plano/ Frisco! While the menu is excellent, we wait every week for the specials. If you can ever catch the seafood chowder or the steak salad you are in for the treat of your life. We had my finance's 40th birthday there and it is a perfect venue for private parties as well!

Google
My husband and I go for one thing; the Big Mike’s Badass Breakfast. Highlights include a buttery French toast and Scotch egg. Highly recommend. We also really like the vibe of the place. Just like a UK pub (but the staff are warm and welcoming.).

Google
The food is genuine! The drinks are cold! Cowboy nachos are on point! Corned beef with cabbage and mashed potatoes were literally the best I've ever had. So far, I've had 6 items off the menu, and everything is SPECTACULAR.

Steven Lartz

Google
Food and drinks are solid. You can trust everything on the menu to be the same every time. Great local kitchen/bar!

Bedelia A.

Yelp
Best fish and chips I've had since England! They made the "chips" just like they do in Great Britain! Huge bar with plenty of seating. Lots of booths and hightops for groups and families. Great beer selection including draft Guinness. Oh! And the music is the best part! 80's and 90's rock.

Josh P.

Yelp
If you wanna come to a nice pub this is your place for a Friday night it's a nice place not to crowded. First time here and I had the fish and chips and I have to say it's a darn good one. The tartar sauce was interesting at fist I thought it was ranch cause the consistency was very liquid but it was actually delicious. Then I tried my friends rubhen sandwich and It was so good.i have to say overall the food is darn good.

Tyler L.

Yelp
Fantastic service, great drinks and overall amazing spot for a relaxing afternoon. Check it out!

Jason R.

Yelp
So this is a nice little pub, owners are there and nice folks. Food was good, and a proper drink is served. Def a good go to spot for a drink and a quick bite and there open a bit later than most everything else in the area.

Yelp
Go! All food is house prepared, no flash frozen trash. Recommend the Reuben and the Fish and Chips. The whole menu is tops, I send folks from out of town here. This isnt bar food, this the the Wolf kitchen, howlin' good eats, fair pour at the bar, and they'll even turn the big screen on for Stars games. Thank you John and Sasha for doing what you do!!!!!!!

Marianne C.

Yelp
I have no words that after all this years, I haven't made a review for this place. I used to come here before Covid and even before the Yelp Elite status. They have decent selection of draft beers and now they have a very applaudable choices of draft for local to craft that I've never heard of. Food is also very comparable to other places around . Consider getting their fish and chips or try their lamb French dip for a change.

Yelp
Did you know this is a local, family owned, business? If not, you do now! I'm a huge fan of eating local. We visited Rugby House at 5pm on a Saturday night. This was not a busy time for them. I suspect its hoping & jumping during their happy hour which is 9pm to 11pm. Not busy worked for us during COVID. All 3 of us ordered the fish & chips. Nice sized fish planks, thick, cooked perfectly, and just enough batter to have that crispy texture. We really enjoyed it. I love tarter sauce with fish. They serve a tarter sauce made in house unlike any I've ever had. It was like a salad dressing rather than a chunky dip. It was unique, flavorful and delicious!! Then we asked about desserts. I always ask if its brought in or made in house. The owner smiled and said with great pride, "we make everything from scratch." We tried the homemade brownie. It was topped with vanilla ice cream and a few sweet berries. It was more than enough for all 3 of us. I would definitely order that again. $6.00 We will definitely go back. We've been looking for good fish, thanks to the positive Yelp reviews we gave them a try and this place is now in our top 5 list for weekly rotation.

Yelp
Great people, both the owners and staff and their customers. It was like a family atmosphere with the right mix of friendliness and sarcasm.

Yelp
Came in for Sunday brunch and we didn't have quite the experience as the first time. Decided to sit again at the bar.. their were two bartenders working and the restaurant wasnt all that busy. I had asked for two different beers from their draught list and were informed they were out. I felt slighted by the bartenders attitude a few times and we had to call for their attention when we needed something. I did order the rueben and it was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, but it was good. The meat seemed a little flaky. Hard to explain. I ended up ordering a bloody mary. It didn't come with sll the bus snd whistles that I've had st other bars, but it was drinkable.

Yelp
Rugby House Pub reminded Hubby and I of our favorite pubs in the UK. Relaxed atmosphere to gather for drinks or sit down for a meal. Kudos to the team behind the bar, who also worked the dining room. Hubby and I shared the happy hour Blue Cheese Waffle Fries. For dinner, Hubby got the Reuben, and the server recommended Shepherd's Pie for me. The food was really good. Great place to grab a bite or hang out with friends.

Wayne W.

Yelp
We never knew this place existed until my wife had a hair appointment close by. I was impressed by its authenticity as a Pub from the British Isles. Smithwick's on Tap! Bangers and Mash, Shepherd's Pie! Come On! I had the Shepherds Pie and it was delish! It was a slow time but service was spot on. Great accidental discovery and we will be back for sure.

Patty W.

Yelp
good place to catch the game and have a chill night with friends. I came on a friday night and there were barely 10 people in the whole place. there are TV's everywhere so we were able to watch hockey and basketball at the same time. they also have a late night happy hour 9-11 pm. however the place closes at 11 pm which is really early for a friday night.

Krisha B.

Yelp
If you want a place that feels like home with friendly people, amazing food and a strong pour...Look no further, Rugby house is it!!! We visited from Atlanta and long for a place like this in our area! The food is epic, bartenders are attentive, and the owners care that you are taken care of. We loved it so much we went back throughout our trip!!! If you are thinking, stop and go now!

Vanessa L.

Yelp
I love little pubs. I haven't been here at night or during happy hour. I haven't even had a drink here. So... what am I doing here? Eating their food and enjoying the quieter atmosphere during the weekday lunch times. I probably shouldn't give my secret hiding spots away but this is one of them. The food here is great and it was unexpected. I didn't intend on coming here during my first visit. I was planning to go to Yama but I subconsciously drove a little further down and parked here instead to avoid parking near other people. (My car and I have agoraphobia.) So, I thought I'd give Rugby House a try instead of going to Yama. And I'm glad I did! The fish and chips are good. I don't always care for cole slaw but it's great here. Great enough for me to sub fries with extra slaw... and I LOVE fries. The server/bartender was friendly, helpful and attentive without being overbearing. One of these days, I'll get a drink here.

Jay B.

Yelp
Came across a well known website listing this pub as a spot that was showing a particular game and had great food/drink, called to confirm which they said they were. Stoked for the event I came to the bar and was met by an extremely curt woman who said they were not showing the game and were closing early. Never asked if I still wanted anything to eat or drink. With 4 people in the entire place, you'd think they'd be more welcoming to see business come in. Weird vibe... not the pubs I'm used to for sure.

Brian T.

Yelp
Been here 5 or 6 times now. We have added it to our normal rotation of places to eat. Burgers, Fish & Chips, full bar, too many things to list. But I like it!!!! Great staff!!!

Aaron G.

Yelp
One of the best local pubs in north Dallas. Chill staff, great made from scratch food, welcoming vibe all around. Go to spot for watching sports. Highly recommend

Annette R.

Yelp
First time here and this place did not disappoint. Best fish N chips, and patty melt

Kevin D.

Yelp
Out of Guinness. We left. Place looked run down in general.............................................................................

John O.

Yelp
Great local pub with excellent food, and a great selection of beer and ale. Comfortable, casual environment with room for private parties.

Bob B.

Yelp
I loved this place, The food was wonderful, and they had a diverse menu. Unfortunately, it;s now closed. When my calls to order take out went to voicemail four times in a row, I just couldn't believe they were that busy to not answer the phone. I drove down and found a notice on the door from the landlord saying that due the establishments failure to pay rent, the property had been seized. I hope they can find funding to reopen!

Sandy O.

Yelp
Awesome neighborhood pub! Fantastic food! My favorites are the Lemon Haddock, Burger, Patty Melt, Fish & Chips, and Avocado with chicken or beef. The fries are terrific! Great selection of beers and a well-stocked bar! And they have special entrees sometimes like lamp chops and steak medallions. They also have a back room area that can be reserved for larger groups.

Amber M.

Yelp
Wow. Amazing food. Not "bar" food, it's actually really well prepared and flavorful! Best cheese fries I have ever had. Great beer selection! I went with my mother, teenage son and husband and thought it would be awkward in a Pub setting but the staff is so friendly and attentive. Menu is large; I couldn't decide what to get! I will definitely be coming here more often.

Susana C.

Yelp
This place has a great neighborhood bar feel to it. The bartenders know their beers and are ready to offer suggestions if you're having trouble choosing from their above average selection. The patio is dog friendly, which gives this place extra stars from me. The bartenders even know some of the regular dog visitors by name. I was impressed with their food specials and wish we hadn't eaten earlier. After staying there longer than we should have ,we ordered their yummy baked pretzels that tasted great with our beers. Their happy hour prices are very good and so are their daily drink specials. We will definitely be visiting this place often.

Yelp
Another Update: Rugby House has earned the coveted last star from me, for making my favorite brunch ever, excellent dinner specials, great drinks and awesome service. This place is on our regular rotation amongst only six places we frequent. If you like biscuits and gravy, the Which Came First brunch is my favorite brunch; seriously, it is sooooo good. The biscuits are topped with country fried chicken breast, sausage gravy and poached eggs. It also comes with home fries and bacon. We lick our plates clean for this brunch. It is only available on weekends beginning at 11a. I also like Big Mike's Badass Breakfast but it is really made for two. It comes with scotch eggs and corn beef hash. Once in a while they'll have dinner specials, I think starting in the Fall. We look forward to the Chef's special creations. He is a talented chef and his meals never disappoint. Our favorite is the lamb. I reiterate from my previous review that I am not fond of lamb, but the lamb special from here is one of the best meals. We have also had double cut pork chops, which makes Perry's pork chops taste like trash. We recently had the deep fried ribs--insane! The best drinks are made by Mike and you can't miss his top shelf margarita. On regular evenings or afternoon visits, we usually will stick with well done hot wings with Gonzo sauce on the side and maybe a cup of chili. We love this place. Update: This unassuming establishment is what I would call a hidden gem and serves some knockout food. We are regulars here and eat here at least once a week. Sure, it is a pub and people come here to drink. But we come here to eat. They have a great happy hour menu. My husband likes the sliders but I always get the fish tacos. They are street style and comes with two for $4. Not only is it a deal, it is outstanding. Perfectly crunchy fish (I think it is cod), tender on the inside, with apple slaw and some mayo dressing. Gives SoCal Baja fish tacos a run for their money. They have Thursday dinner specials and we brought our friends for lamb chop night. I don't normally eat lamb. This lamb we had was out of this world good. It was so flavorful and not gamey at all. Our plates were licked clean. If we are not eating much, we will usually have the lean turkey chili. It has tremendous flavor and good heat, but not so hot that it is inedible. I thought my turkey chili was the best until I tried this turkey chili--it leaves mine in the dust. Oh yeah, their drinks are great too. They make some good and strong top shelf margaritas. I can barely drink one and it is time to stop. Plano is full of fancy schmancy places to eat now and gastropubs seem to dominate. I will take this grungy, quite pub with awesome food over those places.

Alan M.

Yelp
Kudos to the Holy Grail Pub for keeping bar hours in ths post-Covid era. Showed up at 11:15 for celebratory birthday drinks, not realizing the hours here had changed...and even though we have known the owner for 14 years, we were met with a shoulder shrug and a "sorry, we just want to go home, so go away" attitude. Admittedly, didn't come here super often, but won't be back again.

Taylor C.

Yelp
Great food, environment, and selection of beers. I've been coming here for 4 years and have not had a bad experience, and have had many great experiences. Great spot for a fun date night too. Has an easygoing bar feel with amazing food. Can't beat that!

Sally B.

Yelp
I've been here since they opened. They have settled so nicely into a favorite neighborhood bar. Sasha and John are always on top of it. The surprise here has always been the food. Easily some of the best bar food around. I sauntered in for lunch today and I was so happy to see a summer menu. I wanted something light. I got the stuffed avocado with beef. Omg. It was perfect. Completely filling but light. Nice touch was the add of lettuce leaves and the big spoon to make it easy to scoop out a portion for a lettuce wrap. I would love to see this one stay on the menu for sure.

Jordana G.

Yelp
It was okay but nothing special. Very pubby feel to it. The menu offers a few Irish pub items like stew and shepherds pie and corned beef. Overall, the food was underseasoned and didn't have a lot of flavor. The service was meh. Not awful but not great.

Brad N.

Yelp
Had lunch here with some co-workers, and since we're not bankers, there was no alcohol. However, we did partake of the food. We started out with giant soft pretzels as a starter, and there were quite good! They're soft, but not super soft like cake or something, Served very hot, a little cup of quite spicy mustard and a cup of beer cheese (a little runny) were also provided. It was a nice starter and enjoyed by all. I selected a half portion of fish and chips for my entree, which netted me a plate with a good serving of crispy fries, fairly generously cut, and a modestly sized piece of golden brown fried cod. Also on the plate was some quite good cole slaw, which usually isn't my thing, but this was very tasty. The fish needed a little salt and, of course, I applied malt vinegar generously. There was no fishy flavor, and the meat was tender and the crust was crispy and delicious. Although I didn't sample other dishes, my fellow diners gave thumbs up to their dishes, including French dip sandwich and the Rugby Club sandwich. Also, the place had plenty of space for a Thursday lunch and the service was quick and friendly from Kim, our server. Give this place a try!

Jerry K.

Yelp
Came in for lunch. Pretty empty but all items made from scratch. Had a bowl of beef stew at the bar - perfect for a cold and rainy day. Rest of the menu looks really good too. Super friendly and quick service. Good place with room for groups.

Bill M.

Yelp
Sad experience. Poor service. Sunday night. We were one of only 3 groups, all groups of only 1 or 2 patrons tops. The place was basically empty. We sat at the bar. Went for there for the normally great Moscow Mule I've had there in the past yet this night they were out of Ginger beer, the necessary ingredient. Settled for alternative choices. After our 1st round of drinks were done we waited for 1 of the 2 bartenders to return. After our 1st round was finished at least 20 minutes went by with no return service. I then tried to hail them politely with a wave of the hand several times with no notice by them. So after being ignored & unattended for so long I got up and went to the end of the bar where they both were anchored to request a second round. Even if they were packed it would be poor service. But they were near empty. Many times I've seen 1 lone bartender serve 10 or more groups with great service in other establishments. Then we asked if they had chips and salsa. Nope. Potato chips and Ranch dressing was all they offered & what we again settled for. Almost $5. for potato chips. Many places we go have complimentary chips and salsa. So meh. With the place being essentially empty I don't understand the lack of decent service. Ultimately I blame the management or lack thereof for the poor service level. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one is that they do serve good drinks. Too many great alternatives nearby.

Anthony S.

Yelp
The best brunch that we have ever had in the state of Texas!!! You absolutely must come have Sunday brunch here!!!!

Thomas S.

Yelp
We haven't been here for a while, but we were in the area so we opted to try it out again. I've always thought their beer selection was above average, and it still looked pretty good with some curated drafts ranging from lagers and ales, wheat's and ciders, hoppy ipas, to darks and stouts. I started with the Blanche de Bruxelles and my wife had the Estrella Damm - something I drink in Barcelona like tap water. We started with the brisket nachos but instead of tortilla chips, they use their homemade potato chips. I thought they were a great variation, but my wife likes her nachos old school so she wasn't as impressed. She had the Southwest Chicken club and I had the Reuben sandwich after asking the waitress's opinion between that and the club. Her response was simple and smart, "You could probably make the club at home, but you're not going to make our Reuben at home," so I went for the latter. It was a really good choice, and the fries had a nice crunchy texture. I also had a Martin House Cellerman's Reserve that was very tasty. I do have to say the burger my son got off the kids menu was probably one of the more flavorful I've tasted, so snaps all around.

Tuffy B.

Yelp
Such a unwelcoming behavior from their owner. Asked me to move on, when their dogs didn't behave properly with my dog while getting into the patio at the entrance. Last day at your bar, not coming back. Better behave your dogs or don't get them to work if you can't handle your dogs, before asking your customer.

Bibi H.

Yelp
Please don't eat there. It is horrible. The server was rude and dismissive, but the worst part was thst the food was foul smelling and tasted worse. The spoiled meat was awful. I was afraid to eat any of it. I should have known it was bad when I was greeted by a cockroach when I walked in the restaurant. I should have left immediately. Be careful.

Brandy G.

Yelp
I've been for brunch a couple of times now and enjoyed it. The brunch menu is small, but the full regular menu is available to order off of. Prices are very reasonable. The food has all been mostly good. My favorite is the biscuits and gravy. The breakfast tacos were only okay. I didn't care much for the sausage, and they needed more cheese. A bacon or chorizo option would be nice. One of my dining companions had corned beef hash & eggs and said it was great. I tried a scotch egg for the first time and it was tasty. Definitely something I'd order again. Their bloody marys are really good. They're strong and only $3! I ordered medium for one and it was a bit too spicy, but had mild the next round and it was perfect. Service was great on both visits. I'll be coming back!

Somebody S.

Yelp
Atmosphere: This is the place to watch your sporting event, especially if your sport is European Rugby or Football. There are roughly 14 working televisions, and lots of roust fans. My favorite is the El Clásico games as both teams show up in full force, definitely heavier on the Barça side. Food: the food was surprising good here. I had the burger, brisket nachos and fries. Full bar to support the adult crowd, wine included. Staff is great on big days, and even brings in help on big game days. Overall, if you are looking for a place to watch the game, with better than average bar food, this is the spot. Not to mention the fans are friendly, and rowdy, making this an ideal venue.

Temenah C.

Yelp
I was in Texas for work and, of course, was looking for a good place with a good beer selection. I did a Yelp search for beer and this place came up. I was pretty excited to check it out because it was one of the only places that was open pretty late on a Sunday night. When my coworker and I arrived I noticed it wasn't too busy. That made sense because it was pretty late. There was a huddle of people that were probably regulars. They just had that "regular" look about them and they were pretty rowdy. We sat at the bar and were immediately served by a very nice girl with short hair. I ordered a beer and my friend ordered a cocktail. When her drink arrived I could tell it was very strong. This definitely seemed like a place that makes strong drinks. We ordered food, I ordered the sliders and my coworker ordered the fish n chips, and it came out pretty quickly. The sliders were pretty good and I couldn't complain. My coworker's fish n chips didn't look that great and when I tasted them I wasn't surprised that they didn't taste that great either. It looked like they were cooked in old grease. All in all, the service was good and this is probably a cool place to watch football (soccer) and rugby games.

Carl W.

Yelp
Food was great. Too full. We took a friend for his Birthday. He is a Craft Beer person and was able to find one that he wanted to try. Score

Susan M.

Yelp
The food here is exquisite! My bf loved it so much he said he's coming back with his friends. The Irish nachos and mac and cheese were the best. The service is quite prompt too. Will be back for brunch to get some $3 mimosas and Scottish eggs!

Jen V.

Yelp
Beer on tap, irish-y menu (did not eat in this visit) and an Ohio state bar! We made it here after we were really wanting some poke...complete opposite, right? When we learned that it was an Ohio State bar we knew we had to add this to our list to visit for football games. There aren't too many Ohio State bars around and this seemed like a great atmosphere for game viewing! We'll be back! Update! We've been back many times! Not sure of they're on the menu but the fish tacos are amazing as is the caprese bruschetta! Sasha is and excellent host and bartender!

Lori S.

Yelp
Went to the Rugby House for St. Patrick's Day. Beer was cold, and the food was absolutely fabulous!! My husband had the Irish Reuben sandwich and I had the fish and chips. We shared them both because they were so good! We will be back soon.

Megan S.

Yelp
This was the first place I have been to since Texas started reopening and I am blown away. We wanted to sit outside because I am still a little hesitant with enclosed areas. My wife convicted me to sit inside because of the heat... can I just say WOW! They have taken every precaution to ensure the safety of their clientele and their staff. Social distancing is being observed, every time someone leaves their seat the staff is right there sanitizing. In the hour I've been here I've seen them clean high traffic areas 4 times. And of course the food was amazing. I will come back here every time I get the urge to come out because they are clearly doing it right!

Terry T.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place! Exceptional every time. Friendly staff and owned by 2 very special people, Sasha and John. They have done a wonderful job during this time of social distancing by offering take home family meals and essentials. The lasagna family meal was true Italian! What a true blessing to have found this local pub. Go Buckeyes!!!

Harry M.

Yelp
Three of us had a late lunch here today. One had an Italian sub who stated it was very good. The other two of us both had the smoked brisket tacos. They were great. Bartender actually took care of us and service was very good. We will be back when we are back in town. Good selection of beers both on and off tap. Easily 30 TVs to watch. Very friendly staff.

Angie G.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place!!! Most recently had the meatballs and they were so delicious!!!

Jonathan D.

Yelp
This is my first visit to The Rugby House, and what a first impression! They served my Smithwick's draft in a pint glass. This is important to me! The food is outstanding. Had the Irish reuben. Made in-house with locally sourced ingredients, and it's very tasty. I'm not sure what brand of ketchup they serve, but it tasted odd. A little Tabasco sauce fixed that. Large selection of beers, which goes without saying. Got to sample a few, and the bartender was very helpful. Exceptional service, though I'm the only one in here. It's a shame that this establishment isn't positively hopping with business! But maybe I can help change that. Don't let the holy grail take all the glory! Come visit the Rugby House!!

Gretchen W.

Yelp
First time at this place. Our server Daniel was awesome. Big crowd and everyone was what I could tell happy with their food. Great conversation and what an enjoyable group of new friends to be around. I had smaller portion of fish and chips. I wanted to drink ale, my problem was to many to choose from so I settled on ice water.
