The 18 Best Restaurants in Bologna, Italy | Eater

"Tucked into a hard-to-find alley, Ruggine, formerly a bike workshop, is part vintage craft cocktail bar, part pub. The food is decent, but come for the drinks in one of Bologna’s artsy enclaves. The bartenders have respectful command of classic cocktails, utilizing bottles from independent distillers and an ace ice machine (as a compromise between the hand-carved ice of mixologists and the slivers of quick-melting cubes that can ruin even the best Negroni). Given the quality, consistency, and service, this spot can get crowded." - Coral Sisk

Google
Super alternative yet fancy place. Totally recommended. Great quality and experimental drinks and cool staff too. We’ll definitely be back.

Really enjoyed the creamy chicken and roast potatoes. The non-alcoholic gin and tonic was really refreshing (in the heat) too!

We were at this place because we wanted to eat late and yes we saw people eating at midnight. Food was good, our firsts cocktails 🍹 were delicious, we tried 2 others cocktails but unfortunately we didn’t like the second round but I think it’s depending of what you like or not, we all cannot have the same preferences. Bartender super nice 👍.

Cool place to have a drink. Tho we came around dinner, so we ate some pasta and salads. Billy the dog is the cutest and his owner also gives you some dog treats, so you can interact with this gorgeous creature

Don't let the street spook you, the bar is amazing. A lot of local people visit this bar/pub and the drinks do not dissapoint (you even get some free veggies and a lot of chips, even refills if you want). I can reccomend the Gold Rush beer for IPA lovers.

Beautiful lunch with the family in a side street off the main centre of Bologna. Food was amazing and full of flavour, definitely not a tourist trap restaurant.

Ever since I’ve been here for the first time some 5/6 years ago, still one of the best bars in Bologna. Very chilled and relaxed atmosphere, super friendly service - you immediately become friends that known each others for years, and very very good drinks & food. Highly recommended when in the area of Santo Stefano. Also, during the warmer days, you can enjoy the nice outdoor area in a hidden from tourists street. 💫

One of my favourite spots in Bologna. I didn’t eat as I’d already (foolishly) eaten dinner elsewhere. However, as I watch dish after dish being sent out from the kitchen, I found myself drooling and wishing I had not already had dinner. The drinks were excellent though, but I’m still regretting my decision not to have dinner here too. Lessons learned for next time!

Yelp
So on the one hand this place is great! Interesting cocktails, good inexpensive food with a few vegetarian options, fun funky warm decor, lively vibe. It's great having more of a Brooklyn/hipster style establishment (for lack of a better term) that's a bit more modern and trendy than the usual other options in Bologna. And they take reservations by phone which is nice. For all that I would give 4 or 5 stars! However: they blatantly looked the other way while 3 or 4 people at various tables around us were vaping. This was extremely unpleasant, and also illegal, which is why I docked them to 3 stars. It's hard to give an unqualified recommendation unless I'm sure they've nipped that in the bud. I hope they do, as it would quickly become one of my favorite spots to hang out in the city.

Yelp
Great young hip bar tucked away in Bologna central. Decorated as if all the guys running it went onto etsy and found everything that was trendy elsewhere, but it has a lot of charm. Full of people the Saturday night I was there traveling and would recommend it for the second part of your evening, after all the Al fresco drinking already done that day. Wide selection of booze, but the spritz is always the way to go!

Yelp
I found Ruggine via Google. Or was it a friend's recommendation? Or just by strolling around? Ah, it doesn't matter. The important thing is that I *found* Ruggine! And I must say... its homely atmosphere drew me in, reminiscent of the Berlin bar scene: textured walls and a medley of furnishings that included old motorcycle parts (this place once served as a repair shop). The bartenders were spirited and willing to recommend bevande e cibo. My choice: amazing ragù bolognese, vino rosso, and grappa to finish (for proper digestion, one must). Many good beers on tap as well. The owner, Riccardo, is friendly and enthusiastic about his establishment. Recommended!

Yelp
Even though it's near the center, you definitely feel like you've stepped off the tourist path when you enter into Ruggine. The location is basic, rustic, funky, hip and welcoming. The staff are friendly, welcoming and full of smiles. The menu is simple, which I think is a good thing. The gnocchetti al pesto genovese was perfect for a light lunch on a hot day. The prices are very reasonable. I get a "student bar/restaurant" vibe here, but certainly all are welcomed.
