let's start with the good things. AMAZING food. my party and i all enjoyed our food, one can tell it was created with care and attention. they had perfect accomodations for an allergy in my group, and they had a wide selection of food and drinks. the music played in the establishment was also very good. unfortunately, the service is horrible. my grandmother's food was taken to a different table by an incompetent waiter, and it took another twenty minutes to get another over to her. our server was quiet and slightly dismissive. there were only 3 other groups in this restaurant, and yet it still took what seemed like forever for our server to come and take our orders, then later to take plates. he never once came back to check in with us to see how things were going. on top of everything, it took a total of ONE HOUR to get our food out of the kitchen. anyways, come to this spot if you want good food, but not for anything else.

Years ago, a partner made me promise to let them be the first to take me to Ruins. I found this request hilarious, but indeed merited, as I certainly have earned a reputation for "getting around..." the local food scene, that is! I happily made that promise. Shit got weird. There was even a whole pandemic wreaking havoc on the food scene! We never made it to Ruins before our relationship ended. I broke my promise yesterday! Ruins is now open in a beautiful location in Kendall Yards. I had no problems with parking. It felt safe and beautiful and clean... all those positive aspects of gentrification! Are we even in Spokane? Pinkies out, people. We arrived about 20 minutes prior to dinner service... first ones there! It didn't take long for the patio outside the entrance to fill up with folks ready to order from their renowned rotating menu. I didn't have a reservation! Would I get in? Was that old promise a curse? Haha! I got in. No reservation. I'm here to break promises. The waitstaff were all adorable... Tattooed and super cool vibes all around. Service was personable and attentive and laid back. Relax those pinkies, friends! I loved the atmosphere. Throughout dinner, you could hear the bartender preparing drinks with rhythm and style... the sounds of that shaker was quite honestly dope as hell. Maybe he's a musician? Rock on man. Well done. I'm amongst my people. The music overhead was amazing, throwback to 80s and 90s. NuShooz. Chaka Khan. Michael Jackson. Last night's menu. Perfection. There were gluten-free and vegetarian options. I remember this was my old partner's favorite thing about Ruins. The menu rotates, so the adventure is always there, as were vegetarian options. We shared the Whipped Feta and Flatbread as a starter. The plating was fun with the flatbread standing high in a cone on the plate. This was clearly made in-house, fresh, doused in some kind of lightly seasoned crack... perhaps ghee? The feta was beaten into submission, fully aware of its fate to be devoured. Cool, refreshing cucumber and tangy, zippy marinated red onions were the perfect accompaniment to the crackbread and feta. This shit could be habit-forming! I ordered the duck. Because I don't want to have to cook duck for myself. If it's on the menu somewhere reputable, I want my fork in it. It. Was. Divine. Those cherries will punch you right in the palate. Are they pickled? They were a respectful send-off for that duck's final destination into my belly, along with perfectly creamy polenta, green beans, and arugula dressed in something royal. Fresno relish... total zinger with a ping of mild sweet heat and a tinge of smokiness. This plate was a 10/10. Didn't even need a speck of extra salt! My friend ordered the pappardelle... cooked to perfection, wide-cut, thin ribbons. Sauced up in a roasted tomato and fennel ragu, basil and parm... crowned with a burrata blob and pork meatballs that tasted like homemade sausage. Delectable dish, all the way around. Listen. Some promises merit breaking... "Ruin~ing," if you will. This was one of them! I fully intend to break this promise on rotation with their next menu creation. Honestly, I'm stopping myself from heading up there for brunch right now! They serve brunch, people! Pro-tip: Go to Instagram to see their current menu if you're the kind of person that needs to know their offerings ahead of time. My advice though, JUST GO! There's something for everyone on that menu. Visit their website to read about how awesome they are for our community, too. Did you really read all that? 🦋🖤🦋

I visited Ruins with friends for dinner last week. This is my second time at Ruins and my first in this new location. The food was wonderful - we all really enjoyed all dishes ordered. The person who greeted us and another who brought out our food were very friendly. Unfortunately, the primary service was terrible, just as it was the last time I visited. It was very slow, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Our server never checked on us after we had our food. We asked for the bill, never received it so went inside to retrieve it. We sat on the patio and there was no effort as far as ambience - there are lovely lamps out there which were never turned on, even as the night got darker. There was smashed food all under our table. Empty tables were left with plates and glasses all over, again despite things being very quiet and there being ample staff. With both of my visits to Ruins, it has felt like thoughtful attention was paid to the food but not anything else. I do not intend to return, which is unfortunate, given the really good food. But the poor service just detracts from what could otherwise be quite a lovely experience.

Google
First impression of Ruin's was very good. Excellent music, and a helpful easygoing host. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cool and chill. On a Tuesday night, we were sat instantly. Our waitress was friendly, funny and fast. The food and drinks are quite tasty and creative, but the price of the food is on the high side. The portions are honestly quite small though, bordering on stingy. No fries or other sides with a burger, my meatloaf disappeared rapidly. If I didn't order an appetizer, I would have left hungry. A $20 burger should have fries!! A full entree, headed towards the $30 mark, should not leave a man hungry. Some options were much more expensive too. Ruins seems to be a really neat place in an awesome location. Upscale dining and drinks, with a strong focus on cocktails. Just pricey and a little unsatisfying with the food.

It was 9pm on a Friday night and we figured it’d be too late for dinner at most places. Searched for places open til 11 and Ruins was one of the options. We’ve been wanting to try Ruins for a long time, since they were at the Monroe location years back, so tonight seemed like the perfect night! Discovered their new location is the far end of Kendall Yards. We got there about 9:35 and were advised the kitchen was about to close, but they seated us anyway and advised they’d take care of us. The inside had a really nice, fresh, modern (but by no means boring), warm atmosphere, but being a full-moon summer night, we opted to sit outside. We love the dark/low light, and the lantern style lighting outside combined with it being rather dark was SUCH a vibe. For dinner we started with the scallop crudo - such an interesting and luxurious flavor combo we scarfed down in minutes. For entrees, my partner had the meatloaf, which he described as “the best meatloaf [he’d] ever had.” I opted for the King Salmon, which was succulent and tender, with thin and crispy salty skin that added such fun additional texture and flavor to the dish. Not to mention the snap peas and the basil oil that were an incredible flavor combination with the salmon. Portion sizes were PERFECT. We were extremely impressed with this place - the service, the vibe, and the food were 10/10. Two entrees and an appetizer was about $80 not including tip, so excellent value. You get your money’s worth and then some. We can’t wait to go back!

We tried out Ruins 3.0 tonight at the new location in Kendall Yards and it was FANTASTIC. Food was 11/10. Go!

Google
Always good here. Menu changes a lot so that’s why you can’t really find one online but they always have some of the same staples. Always have a few vegetarian options which is great. Cocktails are good too. Use whatever local ingredients they have. Make a reservation online! I hear lunch is good too but haven’t been.

Google
Simple but tasty food with good presentation. The vegetables and greens are fresh and tasty. The fish dishes can be enriched with higher quality fish, like salmon and halibut. The price is reasonable for the caliber of the place. The chef should take pride, everything was delicious. The location is hard to notice as there is only a small sign on the window. The reservations is highly encouraged, there is only limited amount of space.

Yelp
Have you ever been to a place and then felt cooler after being there?! Well that's what happens at ruins. We were early visitors when Ruins started and it was good then... didn't know they had taken it to great. This new location is stylish, the staff is super friendly and fun. And the food speaks for itself. Easily went to the top of the list as one of the best restaurants in Spokane. . -WATERMELON SALAD -WHIPPED FETA CHEESE -DIRTY FRIES -PORK SHOULDER -OCTOPUS -PAPPARDELLE

Yelp
I do not recommend due to the terribly rude service. I went to Ruins for dinner and was extremely disappointed. First off, all the information online is wrong: incorrect hours, wrong address, and no one answers the phone. I showed up at the Nettleton location on a Friday to find locked doors at 5pm, even though the sign said they opened at 11:30. No explanation posted. Once we finally got in, service was the worst I've ever experienced. The patio was closed, and our server came by once, we never got a chance to order more food or drinks (not even water). We had to flag down the Expo just to get our check after over an hour of waiting, and she was incredibly rude, saying she had no idea what we ordered and didn't know why our server wasn't handling it. No one cleared our table the entire time. The food? Incredible. Small portions, but absolutely delicious--I would've gladly ordered more if we'd had a chance. Unfortunately, great food can't make up for service this bad.

Yelp
I have been wanting to get here since they had their first location (made it to Hunt for cocktails). Finally, after many home improvement that seemed to take forever (3 yrs) I convinced my significant other that it was time! Time for something delicious, special, not found elsewhere. Though Spokane has good eateries, many that we loved have gone the wayside. Ruins has just gone to a new location and parking is free. Custom cocktails from the bartender were perfect. We were a bit early for the dinner menu but it was worth the wait. I had King Salmon paired with those little potato coins, perfectly cooked with an awesome sauce, yea I said that. My other half had Meatloaf with mashed potato and salsa verde. He's so practical and also loves meatloaf. Both of these are worth bragging about. Let's not forget dessert, though in my rush to consume that decadent chocolate tarte I did forget to take a picture of either the menu or said dessert. It was that good! Thick chocolate, caramel drizzle and lovely vanilla ice cream. Who could pass on that? We left sated and satisfied as well as convinced that a return is warranted. The location is walking distance to the KY street market, the dining room is chill, there is an outside patio and the staff is friendly as well as attentive. Go there!

Yelp
First time at Ruins, although I've read about the place for years. We were immediately greeted, and got to sit outside at our request. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers instead of entrees, so we got the Watermelon Salad, Sausage Rolls, Zucchini Blossoms, Dirty Fries, and the Ahi Tuna Crudo. Everything was outstanding! And our server, Jaime (Sp?) was great. We cannot wait to return. And what a beautiful setting!

Yelp
My friends and I went to Ruins shortly after their opening. I got their pasta with meatballs and burrata cheese. The dish seemed to lack flavor and the dish was luke warm when they served it to me. It felt like it was sitting on a counter for awhile. The service seemed to be slow, and the place was pretty empty. The patio was lovely and a great spot to sit on a nice day and people watch. The outside seating is right by the trail. I do not think I would be back, the price seems a little high for the food.

Yelp
The new location is amazing and the food is always top notch. Great service, excellent indoor and outdoor seating options.

Yelp
We decided go to try....so happy we did! We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the amazing service from Derek (the guy wearing the bad "Dad Shirt"). Our meals were terrific...meatloaf amazing! The music and ambiance were just what we needed to wind down after a workday. We will absolutely be back as I hear they too have lunch and brunch!

Yelp
New location, same great tastes! I mean they moved like forever ago from Monroe Street, and the new place is by less "divey", but I sorta miss the old building. Prices went up too! Service is better though, much more attentive.

Yelp
Bummer, this one missed the mark overall but there's goodness to share. Pros -Accommodating service - our party had 2 separate reservations. They were able to accommodate us when we arrived to 1 large table of 8. - all ingredients were fresh, including beverage choices . Made for beautiful colors and a slight change in flavor from what the teens were used to. Turns out, the teens prefer the ordinary , fake grenadine in the Shirley Temple, not fresh cherry juice. ‍ - Dan Dan noodle dish was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Had a bite to it, which I liked. - delicious Caesar salad with the perfect sized chop to the lettuce. - generous portions! -starter flatbread was the hit , served warm with a tomato smear and whipped feta. This was a 5 star app!! Cons: - it took a bit to get the drinks right. I tried the beet margarita which was super tart. - gnocchi as featured on DDD is a very rich dish. 1-2 bites is plenty. I'd love more veggies in that dish. - my burger crew said it was a good one, would have been even better with fries, not chips. -pumpkin soup arrived cold. Had to send it back .

Yelp
Disappointing The stuffed Crimini mushrooms are nothing special. I really couldn't taste the stuffing. The roasted Brussels sprouts were similar. They just tasted like chopped-up sprouts and they were pretty wet. Nothing about them tasted 'smoked'. The sausage rolls could have come from any store. Wrapped in unremarkable dough. This plate with similar to 'Pigs in a blanket'. I did like the garlic aioli dip. I enjoyed the atmosphere and we had a good and delightful waitress. I tried this restaurant about a year ago and maybe I will try it again in another year?

Yelp
My last time at Ruins was back in 2020 when they were on Monroe. After a few years, I finally got to visit Spokane and eat at Ruins again tonight. This restaurant has always had a special place in my heart because of their unique menu and due to it being home to one of my girlfriend and I's first dates back in 2020. The ambiance and location of their "new" (to me) location on Riverside is awesome! The Monroe location was super cute but also way smaller. I'm happy to report that after many years the new location met and exceeded my already high expectations. I had the Chicken Schnitzel for dinner and the olive oil cake for dessert. The chicken was incredibly juicy and the breading was crispy and well-seasoned. Around the rim of the plate was a super yummy olive oil that soaked into the eggplant puree and roasted tomatoes, and ultimately tied the dish together. The olive oil cake was salty to the point of being savory, which was perfectly balanced by the sweetness from the blackberry sorbet and plums. The chicken schnitzel might be up to personal preference, but I highly recommend the olive oil cake for dessert. Only $10 and reasonably portioned for 2 (I ate it all alone). I didn't catch his name, but my waiter made me a great old fashioned and was super friendly. I also love the overall vibes of the restaurant! It started to fill up around 6pm on a Tuesday, so be sure to get here early or make a reservation.

Yelp
Went there for lunch. Was told that they were out of ham and bacon. How does a restaurant that has only been open for an hour run out of food? Service was very slow, seemed to be only one person for the whole restaurant. Ordered the cubano sandwich (minus the ham, because they were out of it!) Asked them to hold the pickle, which they did, but they also held the cheese and mayo. Waiter took it back to be fixed. Sandwich was served on sourdough, with one of the bread slices turned with the crust inward, probably so I wouldn't notice I had an end piece. $17 for a small sandwich and a handful of lettuce is too expensive. My wife liked the chicken salad sandwich, although it didn't have the bacon it was supposed to have, because, again, they were out of it. I can understand a restaurant running out of items near closing time, but not an hour after opening. It does have a great view of the river from their deck, but I choose restaurants by their food, not the view.

Yelp
This place makes the freshest dishes. We could taste every herb and spice in the recipes. We visited on a Wednesday so the place was mostly empty. Perhaps that got the chef to give us his very best Definitely coming back to this place the next time we visit Spokane

Yelp
The food was delicious. I had the cod and it was really good with a crispy outside and a nice sauce and grilled Romain lettuce and onion and tomatoes was very good. My husband had the meatloaf. It was very good with a Creamy tomato sauce on the bottom and mashed potatoes that were perfect .The service was very good. The restaurant was very nice and clean and the restrooms are very clean also.

Yelp
Visited Ruins for the first time tonight. I cannot say how fantastic everything was from ambiance, to service, to food. Our server Jay was a real delight and was so knowledgeable about everything from drinks to food. The food was so delicious and we enjoyed watching the chefs prepare in the kitchen. This place is so good, I could move to Spokane. Tip- chocolate pot de crème was life changing.

Loreen A.

Yelp
Love the gimlet! The tuna belly in a tin! The burger! The location and outdoor seating! The chocolate torte! Wonderful place for happy hour. The service was so respectful and helpful!

Yelp
Nice restaurant and great customer service. They are in a new location now as well, that's set up a little better than their last spot, and also a lot brighter. It's still a smaller space so consider that when attempting to go on busier nights. I got the Okonomiyaki and it had a little kick to it, would definitely recommend. It was delicious. My partner got the burger which he enjoyed. I also stuck with a smaller meal so I could try the desserts. We got the baba au rum, I liked the banana and the ice cream, but the rum cake was a little too wet for me. The chocolate dessert was really tasty though. From what I remember previously, they have a changing menu (not sure if that's the same since moving) so expect different things when you go!

Yelp
READ THIS! I just want to let everyone know I'm not sure if this restaurant exists anymore. We drove to three different locations around riverside on google maps and apple maps. Couldn't find it anywhere, also one of the locations was in a residential area so it wasn't making sense. I'm not sure if this happened for anyone else, could've been a user issue but probably find somewhere else to eat.

Yelp
Outstanding in every way. Food, drinks, and service exceeded expectations and quality throughout is evident.

Yelp
Ruins is still open during construction! They've been on my list to visit for a while so I wanted to show support during the chaos that is construction season. To start, I was thoroughly impressed by the drink menu. It features full proof, low proof, and zero proof cocktails. You can tell they put a lot of thought and creativity into their drinks. I got the Nom de Plume and it was really good! Moving on to dinner, my friend and I were a little disappointed at the lack of pescatarian and vegetarian options for main entrees. We ended up ordering off the snack/appetizer menu since they had more to choose from. The brussels sprouts had great flavor and the curry egg salad was well executed. Overall, a creative menu that changes frequently and pleasant staff.

Yelp
I don't know where to begin. WOW Ruins, you truly know how to woo. We loved every moment of our dining experience. The space is inviting with clean lines and comfort in every gaze. We chose a cozy corner table near the bar. Our server was friendly and checked back often. The barkeep made my off menu cocktail perfectly. She was absolutely delightful to chat with and even stopped over to ask about my garnish preference. Now that's a barkeep(er). Let's talk about the food. It's not often I have this many exquisite options as a vegetarian. Ruins does a lot with vegetables. The seasonings they use are completely orchestrated to make for flavor bursts in every bite. That beet salad with fresh cheese was marvelous. And the brussel sprouts were so perfectly shaved my stomach didn't even feel at all rumbley later. These two dishes were the highlights for sure. The pumpkin mac was surprisingly light and easy to eat. It was rich but not too over the top. Some bites had lovely mushrooms that were sparingly placed a top this dish. Our meal was pretty, delicious, and fun. We even saved room for a few bites of their olive oil cake. Not my favorite but I was glad I tried it and know what it is now. This is a great lunch or after work spot. But I think it's sexy enough to be your next date night. So make a reservation and get in here.

Yelp
Love the fusions here. Several options for vegetarians. Cute little place. Try the mezze plate--Omgosh, it is amazing and won't disappoint!

Yelp
After hearing great things about Ruins from multiple people, I was excited to check it out during Restaurant Week last night with my partner and two other couples. Though the ambience was nice and our server was friendly, the meal was a huge disappointment. Why? - Disappointing Course 1. I ordered the roasted carrots, as did a few people at our table. As someone else commented, "I've always wondered what it would taste like if you made chili using mostly baby carrots." I had never wondered that personally, but now I know. - Disappointing Course 2. None of the Course 2 options were gluten-free, which I knew beforehand. Our server offered me another Course 1 item instead, so I requested the hummus, which according to table-mates was quite good. But when it arrived, I was informed that they had run out of hummus and had substituted some kind of bean puree instead. Unfortunately, my stomach gets almost as unhappy about beans as it does about gluten, so that was a bust. At least they threw in a plate of cucumber slices and raw baby carrots. - Disappointing Course 3. My girlfriend, who's a great cook, once marinated some chicken for about 24 hours, and the texture got... weird. Strange and rubbery, with some kind of skin-like outer layer to it. That's exactly what arrived for my final course, along with decent mashed potatoes and... steamed baby carrots! Their general menu might be great, but my meal wasn't. In fact, nobody at the table chose to box up anything, and we left as quickly as we reasonably could. And if I never eat another baby carrot again, that would probably be too soon.

Yelp
Just hoping the owners read this. I'm a big fan of the restaurant when it was on Monroe. Haven't been to the new location. My elderly parents have tried to go twice for lunch but it has been closed both times. They try and call but no one ever answers the phone. They went to the restaurant to make sure they were open and to make a reservation and were able to get someone to answer the door (it was closed for lunch that day apparently) and they said they don't have a phone. The staff was asked if they would be open for lunch the next day, and they said "let me check" and upon returning informed them that they would be open tomorrow for lunch and took their reservation for 1pm. When my parents showed up for their reservation the next day for a birthday celebration with 5 people, the restaurant was closed and lights off (June 12 2025). What gives? I want Ruins to thrive but this is not the way to get it done.

Yelp
Unanimously, we all wanted to try Ruins during restaurant week-- we have had so many people rave to us about this place, we were so excited to try it. For the first course, we tried all three dishes amongst us - unanimously, the hummus was pretty good. However the harissa baby carrots with yogurt(?) were bland and the pork pate was strange with super crunchy little chips that hurt my mouth to chew. The second courses, three of us ordered the pumpkin mac and cheese. Also super bland. I understand that it is experimental/gastropub vibes but I'm a cook - I taste my food before I serve it. This was bleh it really needed salt- two of us lucky ducks chose to order the garlic noodles which were the best thing in the entire list of Ruin's RW courses. Maybe the meatballs were the realwinner, I guess we'll never know? The salmon was cooked perfectly- but the jerk tofu was bland, and really thick not at all crispy or satisfying-- but the real disappointment was the sausage stuffed chicken situation was just straight up weird textured, it reminded me of the time I over marinated my own chicken and acid ate away at the texture. We went out for pizza that night. When we got our bill, unfortunately because we were a party of 6, they informed us there was no way to split the drinks off of the other parties checks -- only pay evenly among 3 cards. A non-drinkers personal nightmare since our bill was likely $30-40 cheaper than the other two parties. Just pretty awkward all around. We were reminded why we don't go out to dinner. $130/couple later with a 20% auto gratuity because we're a party of 6 was just the cherry on top of a terrible experience. I was warned that at the end of Restaurant Week the chefs get pretty burnt out. So I'd maybe cancel your reservation if you're planning to go for the end of RW. I'll save you a few hundred dollars. truthfully I would've paid more if it meant better food. It's unfortunate because overall the staff was friendly, nice, timely, and the ambiance was really lovely. But when you have to raid the fridge at 9:30pm because you're starving after paying for but not eating an expensive dinner - it literally Ruins your night.

Yelp
If you love fresh, unique and delicious this is the place! They have a beautiful full bar, and they make a fantastic Bloody Mary! This is a hidden gem.

Yelp
I give the Ruins high marks for what it is. A casual, almost rustic location and atmosphere with a pleasant surprise inside. They serve creative meals with a fluid menu. I had the trout which was impressively presented and worthy of a much more expensive restaurant. One goes there for the interesting choices presented by a creative superior chef.

Yelp
Service was super!! Food was terrible. We'll never go again. Seems they try too hard to be unique and they failed at "nailing it".

Kayla L.

Yelp
Went to dinner as a friend recommended we try and everything was delicious! We would go back for the focaccia bread alone. My husband had the meatloaf and it had so much flavor and I had the butter roasted cod and it was the best meal I've had in a long time. Perfect space in there, friendly and surprisingly quick service, cocktails were amazing, we'll be back ASAP.

Rheanna B.

Yelp
Food is amazing, we had the beet salad, egg salad plate, and gnocchi. Each dish had depths of flavor, really really delicious food. Had a cocktail and nonalcoholic cocktail that were both creative and delightful.

Yelp
Holy cow, exceeded expectations. Be warned: its hard to find!!! The address says "Hunt" on the signs. My mom and I shared small plates of foccacia, sausage rolls, and the pear/walnut salad. They were all outstanding. Exceeded expectations. Wait staff was friendly and didn't hover. We'll definitely go again.

Yelp
Compliments to the chefs! Their lunch menu is diverse with plenty of options at great prices. The Tuna Melt was a great balance of acidity and tang on a Pullman wheat/grain bread. The Báhn Mì had a burst of flavors where the tofu was perfectly charred and salted. The sauce for the Báhn Mì went well with the picked vegetables. The only suggestion that I have with this sandwich is to get the baguette a bit crispier on the outside to reach that authentic Vietnamese style. Other than that, the sandwich is still a 5/5. I can't say too much about the ambiance of the restaurant. When I went, it was late lunch (3:30pm). There was minimal amount of people dining in at this time. However, by the time we were leaving, it was getting busy for dinner service. The way the restaurant is set it and the positioning of the tables seemed very intimate enough to satisfy a great date-night. The decor and the sound of the restaurant felt very approachable with an elevate feel without any stuffy-ness that comes with fine-dinning. This restaurant would be a great place for a first date, family dinning, and for a celebratory diner.

Yelp
A gem in downtown Spokane. Cool atmosphere and excellent service. Stroganoff, meat loaf and braised pork were all big hits at our table. Tons more on the menu I want to come back and try. Prices are very fair too. Check this one out.

Yelp
Their new burrito take out menu is to die for. Shouldn't be surprising at all, but having a burrito 90% filled with amazingly cooked meat is such a treat. No fillings to stuff it up, honestly just meat seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Just look at the pictures. Absolutely worth it.

Yelp
I loved the Ruins at the Monroe location- they always had reliably delicious food, and substantial vegan options. We went out to dinner the other night at the new location, and it is definitely a different vibe now. The space is beautiful, and the dish ware was gorgeous (I noticed it's all by a local potter). The hummus & flatbread appetizer we got was amazing. It tasted fresh and handmade. However, the entree was disappointing. There was only one thing on the menu that could be modified to be vegan- a tofu & veggie dish. They did offer to make a veggie stew, but I went with the tofu. It was supposed to be pesto crusted, but since that was not vegan, they lightly seared the tofu, which was a super thick soft block. It literally tasted like a block of raw tofu, and only the carrots were edible, the rest of the veggies weren't cooked enough. For a $20 dish, i expected more. I know the menu always changes, so hopefully more vegan options will be added in the future.

Yelp
We ate here this weekend and I'm still blown away by the pairing of flavors. I thought I was a creative foodie, tasted most of the best mouthfuls out there- NOPE! Bravo! I even asked Tony Brown the owner what ingredients were used in some the sauces, because I need that flavor at home, he told me! I did not expect that, aioli w lemon, curried mustards, delicious meatloaf. My husband loved the Pork Shoulder. Tony, Come back to Chicago, They will come!

Yelp
I love this spot, low key for a few friends or a good date spot that your special person hasn't been to. Casual vibe but still fancy enough for a date. Enjoy your wine with a beanie, share that delicious gnocchi with your girlfriends, or chow down on some solid burgers with the homies. The menu is always changing but you generally can't go wrong with anything here. The menu isn't too adventurous but there's always a few interesting items on the menu for that bougie water. It's not the biggest restaurant so a group of more than 4 might be tight. The lighting is always dim here to get real sensual with whoever you're with so if you're trying to take some bday pics, take it outside or at riverfront park if the weather is nice. Typical plates run about 12-17 bucks as a heads up. Support local business! Share this spot with others! Side note, I came here at 10 pm during a huge snow day and they were still staying loyal to customers and keeping their doors open to 12 am, which is their posted hours. I respect that dedication

Yelp
We had an amazingly delicious and unusual dinner at Ruins last night. The place is hard to find. There is inadequate signage for sure. But once you have found the location, you are in for a treat! The margarita-like cocktail I ordered was delicious. I followed that with the beet salad! Which was close to perfection! The three of us shared the chorizo appetizer and loved it. My entree was the lamb shank. It was perfectly prepared and garnished with interesting and scrumptious veggies. My husband and son had the chicken entree which was combined with chorizo and served on a bed of beans. Interesting combinations of tastes in all the dishes we ordered. We were too full for dessert. We will definitely go back again soon!

Yelp
Never fails to disappoint A few years ago I would brag about this place to the fairest corner of the world. Today, I'm embarrassed to even fall for the trap again and again. From fried chicken coming out cold to closing 10 minutes before advertised closing time, this place has let me down more times than it has satisfied me now. Hope they throw in the towel soon.

Yelp
Saw this place on #DriveinsDinersandDives Thought I would check it out...I am across the street from the Spokane Public Defender's office First up house made pineapple soda Followed by a pork belly Cuban sandwich and fries...pork belly with a beautiful sliced ham and cheesey goodness...you get a good amount of pork belly and get that flavor Verdict = Really good flavor and crispy fries...well done

Yelp
Only 3 tables were occupied yet dirty dishes went uncleared on empty tables all around us. Our entrees arrived before we were halfway done with our appetizers. Just as well since the cornbread was so tough I couldn't bite into it and the soft cooked egg with the tough asparagus was cold. How in the world is this chef a semi-finalist for a James Beard award this year? Here's hoping he's "always a bridesmaid and never a bride." The crowning touch was to watch our server try to find room on our table to leave us the bill among the dirty dishes and uneaten food. The dessert options sounded really compelling, but we couldn't risk more disappointment with poorly executed food.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a bite before heading down town and damn, was I impressed. We ordered the Mac and cheese and the babaganoush! Both were outstanding. Since we had split what we ate we left only paying $13 each so it's extremely reasonable. The menu, aside from the Mac and cheese, was a list compiled of dishes I haven't seen anywhere else. The Mac was rich and so delicious! The baguette slices that came with the babaganoush were toasted to perfection. I highly recommend stopping in here.

Yelp
Went to restaurant week and the food was horrible. I'm embarrassed I took my friends here, all the food was covered in so much salt. I would not recommend this place.

Yelp
We got take out tonight (online ordering was easy!) and the food was nothing short of spectacular. Dan Dan noodles and mopu tofu were very tasty but the congee subtlety stole the show! I heard they only have this menu for one more week so grab some before the switch over.

Yelp
Outstanding!!! Both the staff and the food were great. Highly recommend. Looking forward to returning soon.

Yelp
It was standing room only on McRuins night on New Years Eve which was a good sign to us. After a short wait, a table opened up, we sat down to an amazing meal and evening. Keeping with the theme, we worked our way up to the counter to order. Lentil Burgers were vegan from the start, and a little pleading found our way into a vegan bánh mì. The lentil burger fell apart on us a little, but had great flavor. The banh mì had a marinated tofu, crunchy pickled carrots and dikon. The fries were perfectly fried and served in a paper-lined basket. Great beers were on tap and for a great price. Despite how busy they were, our orders came out made to order and perfectly prepared. The burgers looked picture perfect. We look forward to coming back for more of their theme nights.

Yelp
I've been by a few more times since this last review. Taco Tuesdays have been excellent! They don't always have the same options for tacos or other items and although the cost has gone from $8 to $9 for three tacos, they're still good. The fish tacos are my favorite. They had a warm corn salad one time that was really delicious! I also came to eat their McRuins menu and that was mostly a big hit. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was like McDonald's, but bigger and tastier! The dirty fries were really oily and hard. Not my thing. I also came by for their Chinese menu. Half of the items were good and half were disappointing in different ways. Also we had the worst service ever that night to the point of considering not tipping, but we learned the tips gets split between all the servers so we tipped the minimum. Summation: out of the many times I've eaten here, food is consistently delicious and creative, service is generally good, prices are decent and they're open later than most other places.
