The 21 Best Bars In Lisbon - Lisbon - The Infatuation

"You’ve just wrapped up dinner in Chiado, maybe riding the high off that last cocktail you didn’t need. Keep the energy going at Rumu, a semi-secret bar hidden in what looks like an abandoned shopping mall from the 1980s. There’s a mirrored hallway, a bouncer who only takes cash at the door (credit cards are OK inside), and usually a 20-minute wait. Inside is pulsing with electronic beats, and a tightly packed with people sweating on the dancefloor and looking up to the multiple holes in the ceiling. Grab a sake cocktail, find your corner, and let the night unfold until 4am, when they close." - rita geraldes

If I could give 6-stars, I would. The whole experience was like multiple pieces of a perfect puzzle, and every piece is there for a purpose. Multidimensional, perfectly curated. All of my 5 senses were stimulated and enganged in the best way possible. Intimate, mystique and elegant. Felt almost sacred. ——— Detailed Review Below: Dinner and Cocktails: Incredible, artistic, not pretentious. You really can experience the creativity and style of the creators behind every dish and drink. Flavours were unexpected, balanced and had personality. If there is one dish to try, let that be the scallops (to die for!!!). Huge shoutout to the whole team who was incredibly kind, friendly and welcoming. Every member of staff maintains their own personality, and still everything runs so smoothly. It feels super genuine, intimate and refreshing. Another highlight was how seamless the transition is from the dinner to the party. We were still eating when the party started and we didnt even realise (still wondering how they did that). We were undisturbed and didnt rush at all. Party: Sound system, music , artists and lights are a 10/10. No photos and videos are, for me, a huge plus, as it maintains everyone present and adds to the atmosphere. Personal Highlight: The people, the sense of community and the complete absence of social hierarchy. Exclusivity and entry comes from who matches the energy/vibe and not who is the big spender. Door policy is understandably strict and protective, for that particular reason, making it super pleasant to whoever makes it in. Rūmu is neither the club where the person who spends more gets a vip treatment nor the club that brings more girls in, to make higher profits. Every person is treated with the same level of respect and care, and the security people are hyperaware at all times. As a girl, I also went clubbing alone and felt incredibly safe. Overall: Fell in love fr. Hopefully, will be back soon🖤

Would be nice to at least be greeted with a smile or/and a "welcome", instead a quite rude woman at the door more or less pointed us in. There are no signs outside to let you know you´ve come to the right place, so we were a little confused seeing two bouncers and a lady standing by the gate. Food was ok - not more not less. Some dishes really good like the beef tataki which we re-ordered, the chicken was cold, shrimps were nice. All and all an "ok" experience but could have been much better if the service and entrance staff could be a bit more professional and service-minded. We would surely have stayed and spent more, instead we finished our food and went on.

I’ve been living for 7 years in Lisbon and Rumu is the place I was missing without knowing it. Haven’t tried the food yet, but the cocktails are prepared with lots of care and I would give a 10/10 to their Moscow Mule - Bartenders and waiters-waitresses are great and you can see that they are doing things with love and care. Staff at the entrance and clock rooms is so kind and helpful. (Security by Paul(o) and Pogba (Stef) is done with lots of professionalism, kindness and humor) The place itself is cozy and welcoming and the sound system is incredible - artists playing there are really enjoying themselves and hence they are spreading an amazing vibe to the audience. The no pictures policy is a plus, it really removes the feeling of showing off and allows people to really focus on the music (the custom mixer is by the way to die for). We even started to collect the stickers they provide to cover your camera - almost 15 of them in less than 2 months. And what a freaking pleasure to be in a club where every person (let’s be honest, mostly men) are wearing their shirt indoor) To sum it up : Great music, great lines up ,great staff, great audience, great drinks, great place. If I had one bad thing to say, is to provide access to a secondary bathroom when the place is crowded - but still not something that could ruin your night.

Rumu is one of the best clubs in Lisbon at the moment. Its the perfect place to dance with good energy nowadays and all the staff is amazing. To be honest, it's a must. Be carefull to try to enter too wasted or with an bad attitude.

I’ve been going to Rumu regularly ever since it opened, and what keeps me coming back is always the same — the amazing team, the music, and the people who make this place feel alive. The food is fantastic, and every time they update the menu, I never miss the chance to try the new flavors. As for the cocktails, they’re all great — and I wouldn’t trade my Rumu Moscow Mule for anything. It’s exactly the kind of place Lisbon was missing. Whenever I’m not sure where to go, Rumu is always the answer.

We came as a mixed group of UK and Portuguese friends, polite and ready to spend. The girl at the door turned us away for “mixing the ratio,” while letting in the one-beer, flip-flop crowd outside - and did the same with a group of Germans next to us. She’s got the commercial sense of a nail saloon manager. Extremely hard to claim premium when you turn away the people who’d actually make it one Edit: Appreciate the owner’s reply - it actually confirms our impressions. If 'curation' means turning away respectful guests while letting in those already drunk and 'lighting up' outside, that’s not judgment... it’s poor management. A disappointing response and attitude from a place I’ve brought people to dine at repeatedly, which could have handled feedback with a touch more class. And judging by many other recent reviews about the door, it seems we’re not the only ones to notice; things are clearly going downhill. We won’t be coming back.

The woman at the reception was so rude that my group decided to not join, but as a few had already paid to join, they ended up joining too. The venue is nice, music is good, but definitely need to reconsider the kind of people they put to welcome clients.
