Running Hare Vineyard is a relaxing spot to chill. There’s a live band and a variety of beer and wine selections. There’s one station that offers all DMV brewed IPA. There are multiple places to order drinks, and upon arrival, you’re greeted with a refreshing wine slushy. I tried the peach mango wine slushy, it hit the spot for a hot day! At this vineyard, you can bring your own food, snacks, etc, this makes it great for families or couples looking to enjoy a day out. Consider bringing a board game or a deck of cards. Overall, Running Hare Vineyard is a place I’d love to visit again. Highly recommended!

Great family friendly place to relax near Prince Frederick! Lovely site with excellent food and drinks, and live music many weekends. Reasonable price, definitely worth finding.

Beautiful day, beautiful venue and friendly service. Worth the drive out to Prince Frederick.

Nestled amidst rolling vineyards, this charming winery is a hidden gem. The picturesque landscape is a feast for the eyes, with a backdrop of serene hills. Sip on their delicious wines 😋 while taking in the breathtaking views, and you'll find yourself transported to a place of tranquility.

Google
Great place for the kids to run around while the parents drink and listen to the band. The blood orange wine slushy was really good and hit the spot, but a little pricey at $12.98 for the small. We had a pizza, which was bland and skimpy on the toppings. The tacos were not much better, rather bland. Food was mediocre and expensive, but the drinks were okish.

Google
I 💜 Running Hare!!! That's it! Great staff, absolutely beautiful vineyard and delicious wines and wine slushies. Always a nice visit! A little Tuscany that's only 45 minutes away from me!

Google
This is a great lil place that we discovered in our travels. It was a nice little discovery. Wine slushies, live music and 2 food trucks. Their events were on the board as you walk in and it was full.

pgamos

Google
Nice place, with lots of outdoor seating and the best part: wine slushees! It will be nice when they offer kids (non-alcoholic slushes); especially for days like today when it feels like 102 degrees. PS- Next time, I’ll stay for the food trucks!

Yelp
What is there not to love about this place?!!! it's beautiful, serene, calm, and just a very relaxing environment. We came to the firework show and we were able to put up our little tent so that the bugs would not attack us and we would stay out of the sun. I completely forgot that they have so many tables in umbrellas already set up, but that's OK. We found a spot and others had their pop-ups open as well. I even got to take a mini nap because it was so relaxing. The wine slushy are so good. You might as well buy the souvenir cup and get your $20 refill.

Yelp
The venue is beautiful, the wine is good, but the acoustics in the main building are awful. We went to a comedy show on July 11,2025. There is no stage to see the comedians. The MC yells when he speaks making it impossible to understand what he is saying.. We couldn't understand or see the comedians. The sound systems need to be upgraded. We left halfway through the show. All you heard was noise. A waste of $25 each. As far as the comedians they were nothing to write home about. When you could understand what they were saying.

Yelp
The vineyard is beautiful, relaxing, and the slushes are really good. A great place to enjoy with friends. .

Yelp
I'm going with five stars just because we had the BEST time there this past Saturday. The outdoor tasting room is so fun, right next to the beer room, the patio, the stage for live music, and food trucks! We were doted upon by Annie and Lisa who were pouring wine and they just were lovely and attentive and even kept m dog's water bowl filled. I was pleasantly surprised with their unoaked Chardonnay. I also thought their dry rose was crisp and easy to drink. Their sweet rose tasted like concord grapes- i just needed a straw! The malbec was dry and delicious. But those WINE SLUSHIES! It was just a beautiful fall day with lovely people around us, the sun was shining, my wine glass was always full- I can't wait to go back! Their main building up on the hill looked gorgeous- and they had a setup in the vineyard for weddings. Just picturesque!

Yelp
The food truck food was delicious! The wine was delicious! And the entertainment/band were great! We just heard about the place and decided to stop by to see what it look like. I enjoyed it and will most definitely consider coming back

Yelp
Although it's a vineyard, you could consider this place a beer garden too. They have a selection of about 17 craft beers, covering a wide range of styles. The atmosphere is pretty cool, with live music and outdoor seating, a very nice and relaxed atmosphere. Food is served out of a small food truck with a limited menu; hot dogs, brats, fries and quesadillas, not the best, but it does the job.

Yelp
Finally made my way to Running Hare Vineyard. Being that this weekend is going to be my mothers first heavenly birthday I decided to keep myself busy and do all things that make me happy or bring me joy... The sun is shining and this flight is about to take me exactly where I want to be :))) well at least I thought it would have... Quick update!!: we personally didn't not enjoy the syrupy/sweet, semi sweet selections. I prefer bubbly, light and crisp wines, such as Riesling or Prosecco...or champagne...however they didn't have any of those options. I also had a slushy: strawberry lime and pineapple flavors. The slushys were just ok for me...too sweet! Service is excellent. Anne is amazing!!! And for food I've opted for a charcuterie box minus the meat. I had my mind set on a pizza but unfortunately pizzas weren't available today and the Running Hare food truck options were limited but we did enjoy a cheesesteak sandwich and surprisingly it was good! They did have a band playing inside...but I opted to sit outside and soak up as much sun as I could... If the wine selections change then I would possibly venture back but if not...I can mark this one off my list. Happy Yelping! Cheers!!

Yelp
Southern Maryland adventures! This winery is about an hour from my house without traffic, and I was very excited to give it a try -- a goal of mine is to hit as many wineries in PG & Calvert as possible. I was excited once I arrived at the entrance, but was shocked it was another mile and some before actually getting to the tasting room LOL! There were speed bumps, reception was near zero, and parts of the road were heavily covered with trees making it dark... whoa! I finally arrived at the main part though, and finding parking was easy. I passed by a cool looking outdoor tasting room (that currently isn't open) and the vineyards. From the general parking lot, it's a bit of a hike to get to the main building haha. I walked through what looked like a wedding setup, but what really stole the show was the tunnel... you could see real grapes growing in there and it just felt so classy! The building itself was surrounded by tons of outdoor seating, mostly shaded. It was a pretty hot day, so indoor seemed like the move. When I went inside, I must say I was obsessed with the chandelier... and there was live music! I was the first to arrive, so I didn't order any wine yet, but I saw there were a few options... 9, if I recall, including sangria and two slushies. I only ended up trying the semi-sweet red and white... which were actually quite sweet, haha. If those were semi-sweet, I can't help but wonder what the sweet ones are like. The weakest (ABV) wine was 13%, and the others just went up from there... that's up there! Aside from the sweetness, the semi-sweets tasted fine -- I wouldn't consider them refreshing though. Next time I need to try their dry wines next time. Too bad you can't just taste! As for food, they have a food truck outside -- Hungry Hare. the item is already limited, but they were also out of wings and fries. So it was either going to be a hot dog, quesadilla or fancy grilled cheese. We had food plans after, so I opted for a hot dog... but for $5 it's literally just the dog and the bun... that's pricey, isn't it?? It was piping hot and tasty though... but yeah, really expensive. The grilled cheeses were $16 and up and came with no sides. But anyways, the vineyard was beautiful and I would return to try more!

Yelp
It was a great spot to chill and relax. The blushes and wine were great. I love that you can bring your own food. I wanted to be able to sit inside. I'll have to go back again to see if it was an option. I didn't like the out houses but the day I went they were not filthy inside. Needed some light out there at night by the bathrooms. The bees were crazy because thats how they are towards the end of the year. The road leading to the winery was scary because it was only 1 lane. I will definitely go back again!

Yelp
While the DMV was in a Beyoncé frenzy, I went to Running Hare Vineyard. I love it there. It is a beautiful venue (the grounds, pavilion and villa) . I didn't plan properly because I-495 was a parking lot!!! It was worth the hassle tenfold. The wines are decent. I ordered the 3 oz wine flight with four samples. 1. Jack Rabbit White (semi-sweet) - My favorite, and I took a bottle home. 2. Malbec Reserve 2022 (dry) - This was okay. I typically love Malbec/reds. 3. Sangiovese Reserve (dry) - Didn't like this red at all. It left a bitter aftertaste. 4. Chambourcin (sweet). This is a dessert wine. It was smooth. I liked it and took a bottle home. They had live music, although the band wasn't my cup of tea. Still...the view was to live for. Thursday is 25% off drinks/bottles, and no band. There was a food truck in the back. I wanted wings and fries, but they'd ran out. I had the quesadilla and the turkey and Brie melt sandwich. It was very good. Note that you can bring your own food with you. The customer service is great. They come around the seating area to check on you and refill/take orders.

Yelp
So disappointing, whatever happened after Covid and their battle with the county. The brick oven pizza is no longer, and the pizza that replaced it is some of the worst you can find anywhere in the county. The beer garden is still great, with lots of beer options. The wine slushies are the same as in years past. Just bring your own food if you come because the quality of what's left has fallen off a cliff.

Yelp
A must do when in Maryland. This place pretty much looks like Italy but it is in the heart of Southern Maryland. Be prepared to be carded upon entry even if you are 50 something. Hate the game - not the players. Also be ready to pay a cover charge - that you can hate the players for but somewhat understandable as prices are high to cover unexpected energy costs etc. Ok. There on a Sunday afternoon. My wife got the wine slushee. This is pretty much 16-333 ounces of slushy wine. Caution. It's very good. I had the boujy mimosa sampler. Super good. The day we went, they were not doing wine samplers until 2pm, so fair warning. Music was good. Weather was great. Staff was great. Highly recommended trip down to Prince Frederick area for Running Hare.

Yelp
Two words.... Awesome Staff!!!! My family surprised me with an early birthday celebration at Running Hare Vineyard on June 19, 2022, and it was amazing. When I arrived, I was like...How did I not know about this place? It's wonderful. At the entrance, we were greeted by two lovely staff members who provided an overview of the vineyard and informed us that we must try the slushees. We found a table, set up and simply enjoyed the beautiful weather, music, food and slushees. The staff at this vineyard were superb and displayed the best customer service. I can't wait to go back. This place is truly a gem!! 2 thumbs up!! Tips: Parking-Plenty Entry fee: $5.00 dollars Bring your ID
google avatar

Felicia W.

Yelp
Friendly staff, lots of sweet wine and sangria options if that's more of your speed. Keep in mind they only have porta potties at the outdoor venue.

Yelp
This place is super low key. You would never in a million years expect something like this to be on of all places Adelina Rd. Nothing wrong with the area, it's just that unless you know someone who lives there, it's just a place that most people pass regularly without giving it much thought. Not to mention I grew up in the county, and never even knew it existed until 3 months ago. I tried to find out exactly when it opened but couldn't, I was able to see reviews from 2011 though which was shocking...lol The vineyard itself, is beautiful. I've never been to Tuscany or Napa, but the vibe definitely changes once you arrive. This is easily the most un-calvert County part of Calvert County by a long shot. The food vendors and outdoor seating make this the perfect place to post up for a fun outing with friends, or A friend. I could come here every day just for the wine slushies and wood oven pizza. Between the food, wine, beer, music and atmosphere time flies here. Check on Facebook, or the website for events. I brought my wife.and her sister for mother's day and we had a great time. This place is definitely worth the trip.

Yelp
DRIVE IN EXPERIENCE HOSTED BY THE VINEYARD So i did not come to the vineyard but attended a Saturday evening drive-in experience to see GHOSTBUSTERS. Apparently, the vineyard used to have drive-in movies at the actual vineyard but this time it was set up at the Calvert County Fairgrounds. It was $35 per car. There was Only ONE food truck vendor that had long lines, and the truck was geared towards Crab dishes (of which im allergic). But you are welcomed to bring in your own food/beverages (except alcohol). The host did provide a beverage table for sodas/wines/water for sale. There were a few outdoor port-a-potties to use and a hand washing station. There was NO PAPER TOWELS at the handwashing station smh The line of cars were directed by personnel. The local station was 89.9 to hear the movie through your car speakers, external radio or you could roll your windows down and still hear the movie. My friend and I ended up purchasing pizza and drinks before coming. If your car is farther back you can still see the movie very good. At first, large RAM trucks were infront of us and we were able to move the car back and could then see over them / the screen. Cute idea! Great date night idea. If it weren't so far away, I would return as the Vineyard hosts other drive-in movie nights.

Yelp
We arrived and I was not sure where to go so we drove to the end of the road saw a house and walked through the vineyard. Once we walked in it looked like a room for an reception. There was a station to order flights , wine and wine slushie. They also have a Strawberry house Sangria. We did taste the Sangria and did not like it. We started with a wine flight with Jack Rabbit white and the red, rose and the dessert wine. My fiancé didn't like any of them so she tried the grape slushie and I ordered a bottle of Jack Rabbit white. Once our friends came they ordered 5 bottles and it was just the Jack Rabbit white and red. They also have tables to rent for events. And when it's nice outside they have tables open outside like I saw on all the TikTok's. Since it was a storm alert just the hall was avail. The chandler was plastic and the room was decor was out dated looking. Overall the vineyard looked nice but the decor was outdated. The wine wasn't good but did have us feeling good lol. The customer service was excellent. We love going to wineries but I can not see us driving 45 min again for this. Also they have food trucks we had Turkey and Brie and ended the night with chicken quesadillas both were very tasty.

Yelp
Came here back in October and it was nice. I've been eyeing this MD vineyard for while and it did not disappoint. The day we went was a bit chilly and it wasn't packed, which my small group and I preferred, esp. during this pandemic. Food: Hit or miss, depending on what you get. The wings and fries were meh, but the brick stone oven pizza was a winner! Wine: Wine slushies for the win! Delicious! We've also had sangria which was tasty. Want to definitely get a bottle the next time we visit. Also, wine tastings aren't offered due to covid, FYI. Staff: Friendly and wore masks. Tables are somewhat socially distanced, and it's outdoors. Other: The live band was a nice touch. They have porta potties as restrooms, and they were pretty clean. Overall, a great place with a nice vineyard view, with delectable wines and pizza. Will be back!

Yelp
I enjoyed the nice quiet atmosphere where we listened to light guitar tunes, sipped on the frozen alcoholic drinks and indulged in tasty snacks including sandwiches and fries from the food truck. We were allowed to bring in food items, but no drinks. This was my first time at this spot. The shade and welcoming seating on that hot July evening made my experience there all the more enjoyable. Next time, I will venture deeper into the vineyard since there was clearly a lot going on.

Yelp
Running Hare Vineyard is such a lovely and picturesque place to have a wine tasting, wedding, event, fun date, or just a day to get away from it all. Located in Frederick, Maryland, the views from Running Hare Vineyard are those from a scenic postcard. My party of 4 had a Groupon (check on Groupon for great deals) and it included a wine tasting, 4 stem glasses, and 2 bottles of wine. It was a really great bargain. Upon entry, we were given wrist bands to indicate that we were of legal age to drink alcohol. We then moved over to the Tuscan Events Building where the tastings are held. Out of the options listed on the sheet of paper you're given, you're allowed to select 5 wines each to taste. Your wine guide will walk you through each wine in depth and explain each to you. Since we had the Groupon, at the end of the tasting, we were able to select the 2 wines we enjoyed the most to either drink on the spot or to take home. After the tasting we moved to the ample seating supplied for the customers directly next to the Tuscan Events Building. Each table included an umbrella, which was perfect protection for the hot sun. I strongly suggest you pack your own food/picnic basket, but they do have food vendors onsite for your tummy. The day we were there, they had pizza, taco, and bbq vendors set-up. Additionally, they had an "adult" slushie stand. Don't walk, but run to get 1, 2 or 5 of these frozen gems! Yummers! You can also purchase wine while you dine at the picnic tables. Coolers, picnic baskets and other personal items are permitted onsite, but ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PERMITTED ON SITE. They will be confiscated. They're open seasonally (check the website) and I believe the hours are 12-6pm. Portable restrooms are located at the entrance and they have a few surprisingly cool outdoor sinks to wash your hands. Apparently children are welcomed, although I don't know why you would want to bring a child to a wine tasting, but whatever. (Side Eye) With a perfect location and a picturesque scenic view, why not try something new and different in your own back door. The wine is just the cherry on top, well technically it's the grape on top!

Yelp
I absolutely love this vineyard! We went on a ladies night, which was a first for me. I've been on a busy Saturday during the summer. Thursday night is a completely different vibe... it's not as busy but just as wonderful, super chill and laid back. I love their wine slushy and how they change up the flavors. That night they had a pineapple, pomegranate, and their orange crush flavors. I'm excited because I hear they are coming out with an apple cider slushy !! Their wines are decent and they also have a beer garden. Lots of seating and sometimes entertainment! Love it!

Yelp
A hidden gem in Southern Maryland. Closest thing to the Toscana outside of Bella Italia. It's a winery and a brewery at the same time, located in the midst of a vineyard. The beer is tasty, there are food stands in case you need to mix that beer and wine with solids. :-) Seating is under the trees, which was perfect on a hot and humid July day yesterday, or in the pretty Biergarten. We will most certainly be back.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I recently took my mom here for the first time ever. She loved it and the service was friendly and professional. My boyfriend and I have been here numerous times to just sit back, relax, sip some wine and enjoy the live music on a hot summer afternoon.

Yelp
Running Hare Vineyard is everything a winery should be, with some nice extras to spare. The start of every great establishment is an impeccable location, and Running Hare is no exception: nestled in Prince Frederick, it has plenty of space to grow grapes, entertain guests, and fit parking, all while keeping visitors engaged in an open-air setting. On this particular trip, we were celebrating Father's Day, and while there were not all that many people, the staff and food trucks were available and ready to help. After parking in one of the sizable lots (which was free), we walked up to the greeting table and the woman was helpful in getting us acquainted with the place and how to use the Groupon we purchased for the occasion ($34 for a tasting for two and a bottle of wine). While my parents went to enjoy the tasting, I staked out an outdoor table and enjoyed the scenery. The live music was pleasant as well, and they make sure to keep the radio playing for a bit of background for when no one is on stage. This being a winery, there are plenty of choices when it comes to beverages here, especially since they have offerings from a local brewery as well. You're welcome to bring your own food or check out the food trucks parked near the entrance as well, though we did the former on this occasion so I cannot speak to how good their fare is. My father and I enjoyed some of the beers (I had the Dirty Blonde [$6.50], he had the Senor Besos [$8]) and they were both excellent, though I was surprised that the Besos had a smaller pour despite costing more. The service at both the wine tasting and beer-side bar was excellent and pleasant. In my opinion, the nicest element of coming here isn't the wine, beer, or food, it's enjoying a beautiful day in an unrushed setting and getting to relax with family and/or friends. It's great that there is no cover charge to come here, and I am glad to support them with alcohol purchases. Definitely make a trip of your own here when the weather permits! Overall: 5.0 stars ------ Pros: - Beautiful area and very spacious. - Excellent selection of beverages to enjoy. - Great staff and customer service. - No charge to park or come in, only for the alcohol/food (you can bring in your own food but not your own alcohol). - Groupon makes this affordable place an even better deal. Cons: - Not a con by any means but since I did not try the food trucks, I do not know how good their offerings are. Try them out and let us know!

Yelp
Running Hare Vineyard is a blast. We were greeted at the entrance by a stall selling wine slushies, which was wonderful since it was a very hot day. We explained it our first time so the nice person at the door explained the layout of the area. We started at the wine area and tasted several wines. However, it was a bit unpleasant that one side of the covered pavilion did not have a working fan and it was HOT that day. Still, the employees were nice and friendly. We finished up and did the short walk to the "Biergarten". The employees there were hilarious, friendly, and very helpful. We spent the rest of our time there sampling beers and having a great time. Running Hare Vineyard gets a little full so get there early (I hate crowds) but it's an excellent place to spend some time.

Yelp
What a cool spot! Outdoor seating, live music, food stand/truck options, amazing sangria and mango slushees, Calvert Brewing, incredible staff. We loved that it was such a diverse crowd and it reminded us a lot of CA. They are taking all the required Covid precautions as you can see from the ropes off tables. I'm just sad we didn't discover it sooner.

Yelp
I came here yesterday with a group of 14 people. Our experience was subpar. They're currently open in their Tuscan Villa. They are not offering wine tastings at this time but you can purchase a wine flight. The two women working were unfriendly to say the least. Everyone in our group noticed. They quite frankly seemed like they didn't want to be there. A person in our group asked if the only wines they were offering were those that were displayed because they have other wines this person likes that were not displayed. The woman responded (with an attitude) that the wines displayed were all they had an essentially they were looking to get rid of some inventory? I'm not sure what the issue was but they were both plain rude. There was a gentleman who showed up later and he was very friendly and polite. It's probably best to go when they're open outdoors. The wines were ok.
google avatar

Yelp
Due to Covid they aren't offering wine tastings ;(. I opted for the Chardonnay which was very light and crisp. I prefer a more robust tasting Chard. The atmosphere was nice and the live entertainment was on point. This was my first time at a vineyard but next time I'll probably pack my own food and chairs.

Yelp
Okay so I got a Groupon for this place which was actually amazing because I had already planned a girls trip to the Battle Creek Swamp Sanctuary which is the northernmost sites of naturally occurring bald cypress trees in North America, and the only large stand of the trees on the western shore of Maryland. So the Groupon was an amazing deal! It included 4 wine tastings with 4 glasses and 2 bottles of wine for $49....a literal STEAL! Normally, each person would have to pay $10 for the tasting and glass and each bottle that we chose was $21.99 so this was a complete bargain!! Not only that but you can bring your own food and you get to sit outside at tables with umbrellas, so super comfortable, the chairs rock!!!! It was a great afternoon indeed. The only annoying parts were... 1. The food truck - delicious ribs, Mac n cheese, and macaroni salad BUT you had to "get money" from the bar and it was a bit confusing!!!! 2. The wines...um....they weren't the best. They, and by they, I mean Matt (our wine pourer), told us that the three wines made in Maryland were also paired with the same grape wines that were used in Welch's grape...um, not a good response at all. Who wants to drink grape juice wine?????? Not me!!! 3. We had wine diamonds in our bottles, which are actually called tartrates and we were concerned 1) because they looked like glass and didn't want to crack a tooth and 2) we wondered if they affected the quality of the wine... What we learned, the presence of tartrate crystals is viewed by many winemakers, sommeliers and academics as a sign of quality, indicating that the wine was not overprocessed. Wine crystals never impart an unpleasant taste, thank goodness but do not eat them or chew them (yuck)!!! So if you are going to go, please get the Groupon, it's the only way to go!!! But remember that you may have subpar service and super sweet wine...not the best experience.

Yelp
Stopped here after a hike and absolutely loved it. Great space with beautiful views and ample seating. I love that they serve both beer and wine. I saw the wine slushie on a photo on their website, and was a bit bummed when it wasn't as pretty in real life, but it still tasted amazing and I got multiple. The bar was also really great, and I wish I had room to drink more of the beers, but I got full on slushies. Next time, I will definitely sit down and sample some beers first! They were all from small, local breweries in the area so I really look forward to trying them! The food was less impressive than it sounded, but served its purpose. Next time I might bring my own in, but if you're hungry and didn't pack a picnic, the pizza and food truck definitely fill the need. There are signs all around stating that children must be supervised, but that really doesn't seem to be an enforced rule... some loud children running all over the grounds hurt the ambience a bit but it certainly seems to be a kid friendly spot if you're looking for that! Also love that they're dog friendly. Overall, this is a unique spot with great drinking options that I would definitely recommend to anybody in the area! Great for group gatherings as well. They have large tables with chairs and ample picnic table seating. I will definitely miss this place when I go back home to Wisconsin!

Yelp
I LOVE IT HERE!! From the wine slushees to wood fire pizza I can't get enough. When you pull up there is plenty of parking and such a nice secluded location. Renee was my favorite! She checked our IDs and gave us the lay of the land and made some recommendations. She was a vibe and made us feel so welcomed. The wine slushees are huge and pricey but worth EVERY sip. They have a beer garden and the tasting patio where you can order wine by the bottle, flight, or glass. The pizza was SO good and fresh because they make it to order. They have charcuterie available for purchase and the seating is first come first serve. There was a local band playing originals and covers. We went for a girls day but they also welcome family fun or date night fun. We will be back.

I wanted my birthday at a vineyard and I am glad that I picked this one from the long list of vineyards in the DMV. It was farther, but it was worth the drive because this place was gorgeous and their wine was good too. Right when you drive in, you see a gorgeous building at the top of the hill and the whole place reminds me of Spain. They had a ten dollar charge for a wine and beer tasting. There was live music there too and ample amounts of seating. You can bring your own food. I did the wine tasting and ended up getting two bottles of wine. I loved how they had a beer tasting on the other side. The beer was really good and I loved the grapefruit one. You can even buy jugs of beer if you're not in the mood for wine.

Yelp
Running Hare is a great hangout place. It has beer and excellent wine (even if the grapes come from elsewhere). The place was PACKED when I visited, and everyone seemed to be having a good time, drinking on the patio and listing to music. The beer lineup was decent; nothing I was in love with, but I did like the porter. The wine was another story. They get grapes from Chile, Washington state, California, and grew hardier grapes on the estate. I will say that many of the wines I had were very good. If you are looking for place for picnic, order nearly anything and you'll be fine.

Yelp
Super pretty space! Drinks were expensive but decently good! I'm not huge into wine, so I thought the slushies were amazing. They had live music on Saturday night.

Yelp
We visited Running Hare for the first time today. I had a Groupon, which included a tasting, a bottle of wine, and two glasses. This is the nicest layout we have seen for a rural winery in the DC, MD, VA area(and we have visited quite a few). The winery is down a long winding road. When we arrived, we were surprised with how packed the parking lot was. They have live music on weekends, and obviously the word has gotten out. The check in and tasting process is well organized. There are a number of food options for purchase, but some people had brought coolers or picnic baskets. Seating was fairly plentiful, with nice umbrellas for shade. The wines were good, but not outstanding, but the overall ambience is great. The combination of all the factors leads to an excellent rating, in my book. My husband, who is a California wine snob, said if he did not know better, he would think he was in Napa.

Yelp
Winding road. Heavy tree cover. And then bam a cute event space and rows of grape plants appear. It's like every vineyard movie scene ever. We went during the day on a weekday so only had the opportunity to do the wine tasting. Seven wines ranging from dry to sweet for under $10 per person. No heavy pours here but you can buy a bottle and chill out enjoying the beautiful scenery. Get the white jack rabbit! I'm not even a sweet wines kind of woman but we bought two bottles. One of which never made it off the property.

Yelp
My friends and I got a Groupon here--for 4 people which included wine tasting, 4 wine glasses, and 2 bottles of wine. It was a pretty cheap deal, so we decided to drive an hour to come check this vineyard out. The wine tasting area is outdoors--right next to the area where they have tables/chairs for you to sit and relax with your wine. It's a cute little area (Tip: everything here is outdoors--I suggest you bring bug spray). They are 7 different wines that are included with the tasting--I didn't particularly like any of them much. They do offer two "VIP" tastings that you can get for $5 each--and it's a double pour. I tried their "VIP" Cabernet Sauvignon red wine--this one was good! Your free bottles of wine do not include the vineyard's VIP bottles, so we had to purchase this--for $65 a bottle. Pretty pricey compared to the other wines we tasted (the others averaged about $17-21 per bottle) Big $ difference... Up along the hill, pass the tables, are these beautiful bright pink flowers. Definitely take a few minutes to walk up here--it's a really pretty place to take pictures. One last thing. So when you turn into their property, the road leading to the wine tasting area, is a super bumpy road (tons of rocks everywhere). Once you get through, you come up to a huge open area to park. I saw 2 food trucks in the parking lot--don't think I saw anywhere else that served food--not even snacks (tip: bring your own snacks--cheese and crackers go well with wine). If you need to use the restroom there are porta potties along the side of the parking lot--there's even a little washing area. Not what I was expecting for a vineyard.

Yelp
While I understand it's hard for all businesses to fully function as normal during COVID, this business was by far the biggest disappointment. It's also the only place I've seen doing the absolute bare minimum to PREVENT the spread of COVID. My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at what appeared to be the perfect place. When we arrived, it was hard to tell where to go. We saw what looked like a party in a parking lot, and then saw the nice building on top the hill, we drove to the building and got out, took a few pictures of the view, and then a very rude employee opened the door and yelled at us to leave because it was a private event. We obviously didn't know that, there were no signs, and there were no people anywhere indicating it's a private event. We drove back down the hill because apparently the parking lot party is where we were allowed to be. We walked into the mob of people trying to find a place to sit and there was almost no space available. Everything was rented out for parties, bridal showers, and then the other vineyard (aka, the reason we went) was rented out for a private event. While the employees were wearing a mask, NO ONE ELSE WAS. We continued searching for a seat, and then decided to just get a drink and sit in the car. We thought we could at least do a wine tasting, (since it's the same as pouring wine into a cup to buy anyways?) wrong. We got our a wine slush, picked an unwrapped straw out of a jar sitting in the open (that I can only imagine how many others already touched) and sat in the car, overlooking a port-a-potty that everyone could spread their germs in and then run around the place. Had it not been for the drive in movie, I would've given 0 stars. I understand it's a beautiful place, popular for events, but maybe make it known to the public that they can't see/do anything because the whole place is rented. It would've been nice to know in advance so we didn't waste our day driving there to not even be able to celebrate our anniversary.

Yelp
If you're trying to not get COVID-19, don't go to Running Hare on the weekend! If you're trying to get it, you're all set. Today the entire place was packed and nearly everyone was without masks, which blew us away because last time we were here it was really clear that when you get up from your table, you HAVE to put a mask on. There were groups of people standing away from their tables without masks talking for long periods of time. We're not planning on returning until RH fixes their COVID distancing procedures!

Yelp
Loved this place! Visited recently with friends and had a ball. This venue is huge with lots to offer. The wine slushees were everything I needed and more on a hot summer day! The food was spot on. I can't believe how incredibly fresh, crispy, and darn good the French fries were! The tacos were really good as well. Plenty of outdoor seating with large umbrellas to break the sun and heat. This is a great place to hang out, but also super beautiful - definitely picturesque and wedding venue worthy! Stop by soon!

Yelp
Came here because I want to check this place out as a wedding venue but ended up just spending the afternoon enjoying all the activities going on that weekend. Wine tasting is around $10 and you can buy a bottle there to bring home or drink there. They also had beer, wine slushees, pizza, bloody Mary's, and BBQ (not sure if those are regular vendors at the vineyard or not). They usually have live music and events on the weekend. Go check this place out it will be a day well spent!

Yelp
Bring the kids and sit down in the Vineyard with a wine or beer! Located on a beautiful plot of land in Calvert County, Running Hare Vineyard is a stop that all should make! It is tucked back a ways so enjoy the beautiful scenery as you roll in, but come thirsty as there are plenty of different options for those that drink and some good food on location for the foodie in all of you! Unfortunately, the service is borderline atrocious. We have been to Running Hare several times and each time seems to get worse. Cash registers not working, staff that has zero enthusiasm and will just stand there staring at you while you try and get their attention to order something. And worst of all? We've asked for suggestions on the wine and a few of the workers had zero information on their own wine! When asked to get a glass of merlot, the reply was "is that red or white?" This was pretty hilarious but frustrating as it seems the staff aren't trained or equipped well enough to support the customers. The internet doesn't work at times so you can't pay, etc. Aside from the staff, this place is great and we will probably come back and keep giving it a try!

Yelp
Came on Sunday with our pup for our first visit. I have many thoughts : 5 stars: Atmosphere. The outdoor hangout area is far back on the property so it's secluded and cozy with spaced tables and umbrellas, live music the day we went, and a separate wine and beer pavilion. As you enter there are a few different food options and wine slushies. It was positively charming. Staff: Everyone was masked, helpful and friendly. Beer garden: Sounds weird that Running Hare has a beer garden, given that it's a vineyard, but the beer garden was its saving grace for us. They have a few local maryland breweries on draft and even more in cans. I love the local focus. They also have a TV so if you snag the right table (no one is allowed to hang out in the pavilions) you can see it 3 stars: Facilities. Your bathroom option is a port-o-potty but the one I used was clean. The chairs, tables and umbrellas are in good shape (love the 'rocking' chairs). The driveway is very long and has a head scratching number of speed bumps 2 stars: The wine :( My husband ordered the Riesling and it was terrible. Like boons farm level of wine. I ordered the merlot and it was also bad. Really tannin forward, the bottle was already open so I don't know if it was a 'breathing' issue or not. From their sheet most of their wine is 'desert' wine == sweet and sugar which is not my go to. We'd come back here to hang out and drink beers, but I'd skip the wine. At a winery. :(

Yelp
Fun Winery! Had a lovely time. They frequently have entertainment and events. Looks like there was a wedding going on when we where there but the set up down on the grounds was amazing. Tasting was fun and entertaining. There was a little line but it went fast and when it was our turn I did not feel rushed and felt quiet at home. The owner was serving up wine slushies and those were good too. Had a lovely time. There was also pizza on site, so we were able to eat too but I would recommend bringing food and staying a while.

Yelp
This winery is only an hour from NE DC, a nice, easy drive. Pros: - the grounds are beautiful! - live music - craft beer tastings - DOG FRIENDLY! - wine is decent Cons: - $10 entrance fee (in addition to tasting fees) - small tasting pours - main building and some grounds often closed for weddings/events We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
So, the one star review is strictly for the wine... the winemaker just needs to stop. There's nothing redeeming about any of them. Go for the venue, go for the beer, go for the pizza - pass on the wine.

Yelp
My brother has a membership to the Vineyard and took the wife and I for a Tasting. Being that he is a member we got to avoid the lines and head straight to the members section - sweet! The wines we tasted were all delicious and I liked them so much I got a few bottles to take home using my Bro's membership discount. The Vineyard is is such a beautiful location and it was such a treat to just be there much less enjoy some tasty wine. The staff was crazy busy but still took great care of us. I can see why many choose this fantastic location for their events. Perfect location for a wedding. Looking forward to my next visit!!!

Yelp
We went there today for the first time and the wine was horrible. I don't usually leave negative reviews but I have to be honest, it was a terrible disappointment. The only wine that was palatable was the steel barrel chardonnay. The grounds are beautiful but skip the wine!
