Where to Eat and Drink Around Target Field | Eater Twin Cities

"Forget about fusion sauces and dehydrated dry rubs, Runyons proudly serves original, saucy Buffalo wings. Lick every finger on both hands and let that bright orange sauce ring your mouth like a little kid eating ice cream, and wash it down with an ice cold beer. Google
My family and I visited this place on a Sunday evening after hearing great things about their wings. Unfortunately, the experience was a big letdown. We stood at the entrance for a while without being greeted, even though several staff members were just chatting behind the bar. I had to approach the bar myself to ask if we should seat ourselves—only then were we told we could sit anywhere. Our server seemed impatient and uninterested from the start. We ordered 20 wings to share, along with a bacon grilled cheese and a basket of sweet potato fries. We specifically asked for the fries to be crispy, but they came out burnt. The bacon in the sandwich was thick and tough to chew, and the wings were just okay. The buffalo sauce wasn’t evenly tossed and had an overpowering vinegar taste. Not that buffalo sauce was our favorite. To top it all off, no one acknowledged us when we left—no goodbye, no thank you. It felt like customer service and hospitality were completely missing. Sadly, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in terms of both food and service.

Google
This is a nice local place with a decent selection of beers. It is found in the older part of Minneapolis so the building is historic so lots of exposed brick. Apparently, they have THE BEST Wings in town. Now, I have a wing or two in my life all over North America and I will say these ones are up there. Large, juicy well cooked wings. Very well done. The staff are great too.

Google
My favorite wings in the cities!! Simple little tavern for a good beer and great wings!! We typically get wings and a burger and split them. Always a good experience. Decent place to watch a game as well. I recommend ordering wings Xtra crispy...Mmmmm!!

Google
Came here with a friend for lunch. Heard great things about the wings (S/O to Sam Reid) and came away very impressed. The wings had a flavorful sauce that wasn't too spicy but also not without a kick. I got the basket which includes 8 wings and some fries. I wanted a little more than just wings so this worked well; however, I wouldn't fault anyone for sticking with the wings themselves for how good they were. An easy 5 stars from me!

Google
I heard this place has the best buffalo wings in town so I had to give it a try. I can honestly say the claim is no lie. I am not a huge buffalo fan, but these wings changed my mind. Big, crispy, and perfectly sauced...enough to coat and flavour, but not drowning or dripping. My friend got the Olive burger and was extremely happy with that as well. The atmosphere was old town bar feel, long and narrow. Seemed quite a popular place with young professionals enjoying drinks. On top of the great bar feel and amazing food was the fantastic service. Amber was everything you could ever want from a server, anticipating our every need. Quick to bring water and take orders, and our Arnold Palmer and iced tea never ran out. She saw them under half and just kept bringing out more, not interrupting or being in the way. Dishes were removed promptly and non-intrusive. She was very polite and friendly - Runyons definitely found a great one with Amber! Oh, and the saying on the back of the shirts is classic!! Definitely a place to come back to.

Google
First time here. Heres the rundown, you seat yourself but nothing tells you that. The table and seats were very sticky which wasnt food but just using the wrong cleaning product when dealing with real wood. Its busy and gets very loud in there also but they do their best to accomodate. The manager was taking orders and helping out and was very nice. The drinks were strong and the wings were so good. I would recommend a little more sauce on them but really good either way. I like the vibe and its right in the neighborhood. Definitely worth a stop in

Google
Everytime I come to Minneapolis i have to go to Runyon's. Some of the best wings in the country at a reasonable price. Service is always quick and friendly and the food is always unbelievably consistent.

Google
Me and my homies love Runyons. I’ve been coming to this fine establishment as long as I can remember. Even as a small tot before going to a Twins game. The go-to order of wings (double order), buffalo shrimp and the chili cheese fries (can’t forget the side of XTRA hot buffalo sauce to mix into the bleu cheese) have never let me down. Never change Runyons, never change.

Yelp
(Last visited 12/1/2022.) If you know me, you know that my favorite wings of all time are merely 20 minutes away from Minneapolis, but... my friends told me I needed to check out Runyon's downtown, so here's how things went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Right downtown with no private parking lot and connected to a seemingly haunted theater is this gem. You'll have to park on the street since the parking lot is for the theater. But this place is like, stuck in time and that's perfect. It just fits the aesthetic. The ceilings were high, the floors were a flowery white tile, there was plenty of windows to see out of and the bar was on the left. The walls are filled with 40 years of pictures taken here and everything just seems perfectly preserved. Food: So... Paul Runyon developed the very same sauce that this place STILL uses 42 years ago. He absolutely perfected it because it didn't need a thing! You can get the sauce in their original formula or in a habanero variant which kicks the spice up a notch. You can also get them on wings of course and their shrimp! Nice tough for sure. One thing that really blew me away was their house-made bleu cheese. It was perfect and seriously some of the best bleu cheese I've ever had. The wings themselves were also seemingly perfect. They were gigantic for sure, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and with that sauce, there wasn't much more I could've asked for. it was like someone from Buffalo pulled up in Minneapolis and said, "I'm the wing captain now." I loved these wings. Value: The menu is extremely simple, like, 15 lines long. Lol. Pure bar food and that's all you need. So imagine bar food prices, that's all. You won't have to blow a bag here, you can just chill. In conclusion, I LOVED it here at Runyon's more than I thought I would. I really enjoy when that happens. I can't wait to make a return visit so that I can just check these out again!

Yelp
This bar and grill spot located in downtown Minneapolis is great for a game day sporting event with a simple menu for bar food but most notably a Buffalo sauced wings that are tasty but not the best wings I have had. The service was quick and good but the wings were not special and I would have loved it they grilled their wings after frying them because that would make the difference and also provide more than one flavor for the wings if someone does not like buffalo. I probably wouldn't come back but good spot in downtown to catch a game and some food. For 10 wings it will cost ya 16$

Yelp
Bartenders and servers are all great, but there is definitely an understaff situation happening. Seemed like there was just not enough hands on deck to handle the amount of folks that come here for their amazing burger and wings. Great selection of local beers. Great place to watch sports. Great food. Great servers who clearly just need more support.
google avatar

Ann Marie C.

Yelp
They specialize in buffalo wings and nothing else. So good! Nice meaty wings with just the right amount of buffalo sauce. No other options for different sauces.Service was good but it took our wings longer than expected since the restaurant wasn't very full. But apparently there's a lot of to go/take out orders. Definitely coming back. Very casual, local bar. A great place to go before or after an event in downtown.

Yelp
Went with a group of 8 after a Vikings game. Insanely busy which is obviously a good sign. After hovering for around 15-20 mins we finally snagged a couple tables. We were there for wings and drinks, nothing more. Couldn't flag down a server until about 20 minutes passed. We ordered two party wing platters and three fry platters, costing $40 and $15 each (ripoff for an average basket of fries-size and quality.) Wings were good, but not sauced up as I've had them in the past which took the flavor scale down a notch. When it finally came time to leave, our server was nowhere to be found. After searching and asking around, we finally managed to get a bill after 20-25 minutes. It will be awhile before we go out of our way to visit this place again.

Yelp
Back in Minneapolis so that definitely requires a stop at Runyon's for a double order of wings. Half mild half hot. I sat and ate the entire order in one night. I've tried wings elsewhere but Runyon's is the best in Minneapolis. Staff is great. Always helpful with my takeout order.

Yelp
Runyon's is famously known for having the best Buffalo Wings in the Twin Cities and in my opinion they are hands down the best. The space, located on Washington Ave in the downtown/northloop area of Minneapolis, is a long, narrow bar and dining area with all the dive bar feels. Service is always prompt and friendly. Considering they only have wings and burgers on the menu - the food can sometimes take a while to come out but they are usually very busy and the wings are always worth the wait. Super buttery, vinegary, and garlicky. Nice size wings. The meat is always super juicy and falls right off the bone. Could maybe be a little crispy but I don't mind.

Kandi H.

Yelp
The Wings were awesome .... Only one kind so you dont have to think about it... service was quick.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped for dinner here after a long work day. Two of us ordered the wings with fries and extra blue cheese dressing. Our other friend had the black and blue burger. Runyon's has been known for their wings for many years and they did not disappoint. They only offer one type of wings-buffalo style. They come with celery and the most amazing blue cheese dip ever. It is made in house and it makes the wings pop. Our friend who had the burger said it was one of the best ever and ate every speck of it! Chandler was our waiter and he was really great!! Totally def recommend !

Yelp
One of my top 5 favorite wings near the twin cities! Runyon's is a pub at the edge of downtown and north loop. They are known for their Buffalo wings with an award winning 36 year recipe! They don't have a variety of wings and just your standard Buffalo but have been a staple in the cities and cooked to perfection! Perfect for having some beer and watching the Vikings game! Lots of paid street parking nearby.
google avatar

Bryce F.

Yelp
The wings do not disappoint at Runyon's ever. I always preferred places with a variety of sauces/rubs until I came here. Add in the tasty blue ranch dip and it's been one of my favorite places to go for wings. The interior is kind of small but I don't mind it. It's hard to seat a lot so go with a smaller group. Service honestly has been great or ok in terms of friendliness but it's still quick and they check on us often.
google avatar

Yelp
Top 3 for wings in Minneapolis. Been here forever. Great staff. Cold beer. It's an institution.
google avatar

Deondre J.

Yelp
This is the best wing place in Minnesota. These were juicy drumettes. The sauce was good, the ranch was homemade, and the drinks were good. I like a good dive bar feel. It is worth checking out if you're in the downtown area!
google avatar

Holly N.

Yelp
This place has some of the best wings on the planet. Seriously, you cannot go wrong here - order up the big platter; you know you can finish it
google avatar

Travis H.

Yelp
Best wings in Minnesota!! They only do the traditional bone in wing but there is so much flavor!! We got the Buffalo flavor and got roughly 60 wings. 5 of us pounded them down like nobody's business!! We left full, happy and definitely wanting to come back!! They have a great beer selection as well, the pistachio cream ale is one of my favorite beers and definitely pairs well with Buffalo wings. 10/10 I'll be back!!

Yelp
I was in Minneapolis for work and craved wings and beer per usual. I heard they were noteworthy at Runyon's (well, according to Yelp) so I braved a 10-minute walk in the snow to check it out. I sat in the chair that apparently solo female travelers often take, and Derek promptly took my order. He's so chill and a great bartender, for locals and visitors alike. I should have been pickier with my wings order because I forgot I could ask for extra crispy and extra saucy the way I like them. They were delicious either way, paired perfectly with one of their few IPAs. Blue cheese on the side was the perfect complement. Overall great spot that really brings out the Midwestern vibes of Minneapolis. Would come here again.

Alex B.

Yelp
GREAT and I mean GREAT wings. These wings have it all. Good size, delicious buffalo sauce, the blue cheese and ranch are spectacular. The other thing that's exceptional is the Black and Blue burger. Great vibes in here and good service. One of the legitimate spots in Minnesota.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for the best bleu cheese dressing in Minneapolis, and this comes in the number 2 spot for sure! As you can see we ordered 3 full sized portions of it. Insider tip, you can order a extra large portion of the bleu cheese for five dollars, and you can take it home with you! What a great find! The buffalo shrimp was amazing. It was not breaded it was cooked perfectly, and the buffalo sauce paired nicely with it! The fries top notch, they remind me of the fresh cut fries from the state fair! lastly, the wings, these by far are my favorite wings in Minneapolis! They are deep-fried perfectly, the chicken was moist, and not dry, the sauce is amazing, and the price is great too! The menu is minimal, but that just means that they've perfected a few items and they're really good!
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
I must say I have heard the hype about the wings for a while and finally had the opportunity to get to try it. We had a group of about 7 of us on mothers day (judge if you must but it was requested by the mothers). We got there early and was able to secure the large table in the back that could easily fit 10. The rest of the tables allow about 4 and we originally planned on doing 2 tables but one of the workers told us about this table. The service was great and they are your typical dive bar you go to for basic drinks with no flare. The star of the show was the wings. They are so perfect and fantastic! We ordered two party platters for the 7 of us and we all ate lots and still had leftovers to take home. The blue cheese dressing is good and I am not much of a fan of blue cheese.
google avatar

Linh B.

Yelp
Love this place. Very happy with the quality of the wings. Simple but delicious! Service is top notch!
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Just get the wings. Thank me later. No regrets, Sarah But in all seriousness get them and savor them - these are some of the best wings in minneapolis. Strong drinks and a full beer selection to choose from. Lots of TVs as well for the big game!
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
The wings are seriously the best! I absolutely loved them. The place was super clean and the staff went above and beyond. Perfect spot to watch any playoff game or sporting event as they had a ton of TVs. Even if you are looking for a low key date night spot this would be perfect!
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Disappointed that they shut down before halftime of the twovles game last night. Yankees in town, wolves fans out trying to catch the game and they stopped serving food at 10 and closed at 11. They even turned away a Yankees player. I get having regular hours but there were 40-50 people there last night that got turned away. Wings are obviously great, but might need to start looking elsewhere.
google avatar

Anjeline R.

Yelp
I honestly love Runyon's! The 4 is because the service is usually pretty meh. Slow, servers forget about you, drinks aren't correct. Not always but it's usually the case. The beer selection is also terrible! But they really do make up for it in the food. We usually get their wings (dry, extra crispy, buffalo sauce and blue cheese on the side), chili cheese fries, and a cheeseburger. It's quite pricey but we're willing to pay it because it's really pretty good. I wish they added more chili to the fries. If you're not picky with drinks, this place hits. If you want a big beer selection, probably could go to another spot. Food is great though!

Earth O.

Yelp
Side be Monte Carlo the best wings apparently in the state. Go here for saucy wings. 10/10. Want some flavor go to Monte Carlo
google avatar

Greg K.

Yelp
This is the wife's and my go to for wings and they have never disappointed! I am a "traditional wing" snob and this is the only place we'll go in the Twin Cities. The fries and cole slaw are also exactly how we both like them. Keep it up my friends!
google avatar

Kong L.

Yelp
Being in the area for some time, with the Twins' games and spirit, I've been craving for some good Buffalo Wings. Runyon's popped up as one of the top Buffalo Wings spots in the area, known for their over 3 decades award winning Buffalo Sauce recipe. I finally decided to stop by. It's a nice cozy sports bar and restaurant. It definitely is a popular spot, being packed with a good amount of people. I went with their Basket of Wings and Fries. The fries were decent fries. But let's cut to the chase. How were the wings? First bite... Definitely a solid wing and a solid Buffalo sauce. Were the wings crispy? Not really (covered in sauce, duh). Was it moist? Yes. I don't have the taste buds of a chef, but it definitely has some nice flavors. A nice buffao tang, and I noticed it had little nutty notes. It has a nice small kick of heat (not a painful heat or anything you can't handle). That was my first initial thought: Its a solid Buffalo Wing. But... it did felt a little overhyped. Until... I kept eating. The more wings I ate, the more I just loved the wings, and definitely the sauce. And at the end of my meal, I was hooked. You know a spot is good when you leave and your last thought about it is: "I'll be back." The spot was dope with a nice vibe. The wings were definitely amazing. I don't want to overhype it, but if you're in the area and are craving for solid Buffalo Wings, I'd definitely reccomend Runyon's.

Mark K.

Yelp
My wife and I came here for something different, as we haven't been to a bar together since our daughter was born. I've been here once and knew the wings were the thing to get, and we got a double plate! She ordered an impossible burger, which she said was very good, along with some chili fries on the side which she loved. I took care of her side serving of cole slaw, which was one of the better cole slaws I've ever had. But like everyone says, the wings are where it's at. They are big, crunchy, fully covered in a delicious buffalo sauce that is the perfect amount of heat. It comes with a side of either ranch or bleu cheese, which is good but really not even necessary. Our server was very friendly, very quick, and overall excellent. We'll definitely be coming back another time, even if just for some wings.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
Buffalo wings are not my go to, ever, but these wings were pretty good. It came out steaming hot with the right amount of sauce on it. But I would say the highlight was the burger. We ordered the French burger, which is a burger pressed with thin sliced onions and pickles on top. To me, it tasted like a White Castle burger...yummy! The chili fries deluxe was delicious too. The only thing underwhelming was the coleslaw. The place was busy on a Friday evening and definitely short staffed because we waited for our food for quite some time.
google avatar

Mo S.

Yelp
Runyons is one of my all time favorite Wing spots. They have been serving up their delicious Buffalo flavored Wings for over 35 years. The wings are juicy and flavorful. If you haven't been, check them out next time you're in downtown Minneapolis! * RUNYON'S WINGS- Buffalo Flavored Wings served with celery and blue cheese.
google avatar

Dylan J.

Yelp
The best classic Buffalo wings in the twin cities. They also have the best blue cheese.
google avatar

Ricque R.

Yelp
Incredible service! Great interaction with the staff! The selection of on tap beers were good. However ultimately the wings were exceptional!!! I went early in the day and still the vibe was very chill! Highly recommend if you're in Minneapolis it's definitely worth a visit or two!!
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
Great Wings and really good fries. They were fresh and hot. Classic Buffalo sauce and the homemade blue cheese was amazing! Traveled in from Chicago and was impressed! Wish there were more beer options on tap. The staff were great also.
google avatar

Bill H.

Yelp
Oh Runyon's, honestly I don't know how I haven't gotten around to reviewing this place before! I've been here loads of times and have only been let down once. My friends and I went on a Wing Tour and visited all the "best wing places" in the Twin Cities and each individually reviewed each one, Runyon's ended up winning. Their bleu cheese is amazing, and the wings are always crispy and delicious. If someone is looking for amazing wings I'll always recommend Runyon's!

David L.

Yelp
Not late night. Food stops at 10pm. Waitressing was rude when we just asked if they were still serving at 9:45.

Alex Z.

Yelp
good wings but the service has been lacking. ordered wings and fries. forgot to bring a beverage back after a refill and needed to remind them about the fries twice. like how?...

Kaija C.

Yelp
Best wings I've ever had, with actual meat and plenty of flats to boot. Also the house made blue cheese is dangerously delicious. I could drink it. I won't, but I could.
google avatar

Jason T.

Yelp
I've been a couple of times. It's a solid bar. Pretty decent to good beer selection. Food is bar fare. Service is always good. Not a bad spot to pony up to the bar if you can find a spot. Feels like a neighborhood place but not like a townie bar either.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
What a cute little place to grab a bite to eat and drink. We sat in the outside patio area which had a great view of the street. The food was absolutely delicious. Plus our waitress was so much fun with her bubbly personality. Come try this place out if you want to get a bite to eat and people watch on the street
google avatar

j w.

Yelp
Three of us came in for lunch and sat at the bar. Two had burgers and I had buffalo wings. What else should you get at Runyon's? The food was delicious, the service was great, and the bar had the same atmosphere as the last time I was in years ago.

Heather S.

Yelp
We moved to MN a year ago and have finally found the best wings! Not too small, not too big, perfectly crispy, hot and sauced. With chunky homemade blue cheese! And great service. Yes please! We'll be back soon!
google avatar

Tawanda R.

Yelp
I dont know why it's taken me so long to visit Runyons. I literally drive by daily and it's been suggested to me a few times to stop by there to get good wings. That's how I ended up there. I was leaving a funeral in North Minneapolis and really wanted some wings and used my trusty Yelp app to determine where to get some keto friendly wings. It's cute little bar, hard to find parking, but i lucked up on a great parking spot a few doors down. The decor is cool... Mpls Yuppy meets artistic eye, meets bar decor... i liked it; it felt juuuust right. Wings were dope and simple. Buffalo sauce, no batter, keto friendly, and they taste good! I'll be back!

Jack T.

Yelp
Best buffalo wings around--try them extra crispy. Not too saucy and not your typical buffalo sauce. They keep it simple and classic with the food but have an extensive drink menu. My only complaints are that some of the drinks are priced too high, even by North Loop standards, and the tap selection could be larger and a little more varied.

Nicole S.

Yelp
All of the rave reviews about the wings are correct- they are phenomenal! Must try place in the north loop!
google avatar

Brent H.

Yelp
This is my first review, but these wings are so good I have to let the world know. If you like the standard Buffalo wing, this is the best in Minneapolis, no question. It's also the only wing flavor they have so you don't have to worry about picking the wrong flavor. Get it with ranch, and then realize you didn't even need the ranch because the Buffalo sauce is enough.
google avatar

Rachel E.

Yelp
Good spot to grab quick wings and a beer. Great wings, great service and good bartender.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
If this was only for the Buffalo wings, Runyon's would easily be a 4/5. Definitely a contender for the best traditional / classic Buffalo wings in the Minneapolis area. That being said, the rest of the menu is standard bar food that we'll executed but not particularly noteworthy. Service can be hit or miss but I definitely recommend checking out Runyon's wings and making it a stop for any pub crawl or night out in the north loop
google avatar

Tommy W.

Yelp
Love Runyon's. Wings are some of the best in the downtown-North Loop area. Good people work there too. Nice classic bar feel.
