I was blown away by this venue. The staff and security were all awesome. The lights and sound production were absolutely incredible and the space made it unlike any venue I’ve ever been to. I would absolutely attend another event there and hope I have the chance to do that soon.

Russell Industrial dropped the ball so hard during the Boris show that I wish I could give them 0 stars. Forst of all you all said 6pm and you kep people out in the heart for near an hour Then boris shows up and he starts, and there is absolutely no bass. What a disappointment. Sound engineers took like an hour to fix the sound amd even then it was not anywhere close to a good sound. All that space and there are still massive lines for bathrooms. I drove 6 hours to be there and spent money for hotels to see Boris and it was extremely disappointing how unprepared this venue was. I would never come back to this venue.

Had a great time here for the #dillafest it's been awhile since I've been here. Very spacious. Lots of bars set ups. Maybe they should have spearfishing the vendors out a bit other than that the food trucks were good, jus no seating. the entire vibe was good the entire night so no worries

Google
Checked out the space and took a rug-making workshop there. Really cool space worth checking out and the artists who have studios there.

Google
I have been here twice and I have enjoyed the events, the atmosphere is good. Power and music went out once but they got it running. Last event I went to was good and the artist delivered a fun show but we were behind an hour so that was a little bit of a problem, otherwise it was a good experience! The ticket wasn't expensive for me, drinks are a little expensive but I get it...they have to make money to pay everybody...I didn't try the food but the first time it wasn't that good...it's vendor food so its a hit or miss but the price is usually expensive.

Had a great time seeing SVDDEN DEATH and Barclay Crenshaw here. The main building is huge and ancient, makes for an incredible EDM show vibe. I'm buying tickets for DJs I've never heard of just to enjoy the venue. Building 6 seems to be newer, and is smaller. It had a cozy feel, and a super fun journey to get there from the parking lot.

As an elevator enthusiast, I found this place to be AMAZING! A friend of mine in the industry told me to stop by here and boy was I NOT disappointed! I took a ride on their historic 1920s OTIS freight elevator and it runs like the day it was installed. The building itself is BEAUTIFUL in every way to somebody that appreciates historic buildings. Also picked up an awesome sign from an antique mall at the facility. If the owner reads this, THANKS for preserving your historic elevators!

Google
As an artist or an entrepreneur, it's an interesting spot to release your creativity. However, if you choose to run a business there, there are city ordinances which can be very troublesome because it's not zoned. So if you are a struggling artist that is on the hunt to shoot your material illegally, you can definitely sneak in there. If you are a struggling entrepreneur, looking for a place to run your gig on the hush hush, but have somewhat of a professional vibe, then this is for you. However, if you have a real business and uh, want real space that we'll really move the numbers for you. I don't think this is the one. But it is, without a doubt, a staple of Detroit, and there have been many artists and entrepreneurs who have been through this building.

Yelp
A sick broken down looking factory style building on the outside. Inside a great space for concerts and other events. Saw tied down 2023 here and i will be coming back.

Yelp
Canceled an event I was going to last minute. How is this legal? Hope you get sued to ruin. Don't know how much you are worth, but it's millions in damages for production costs and millions in paying back for all the attendees' travel expenses.

Caleb ..

Yelp
Poorly ran, willing to cancel venues without prior warning. Do not use their services, too much of a risk they'll cancel on you. This is unacceptable behavior.

Yelp
Can't cancel events last minute and expect the public not to be upset. What a let down. Will not recommend Russell Industrial Center to anyone for any future events.

Chuck M.

Yelp
Venue will cancel an event on you with little or no warning. Sketchy operation and owner.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Canceled AFPAC for no reason 24 hours before the date-don't use them -very unreliable.

George K.

Yelp
They canceled an event the morning of the day it was supposed to occur without any warning, wasting the time and money of THOUSANDS of people! I hope they get sued for breach of contract! Absolutely DISGUSTING behavior!

Ryan C.

Yelp
Terrible management, refuse to explain their decision on why they refused to host the event

Frances F.

Yelp
They canceled an event last minute thousands were going to attend and come all the way to Detroit to attend in a complete breach of contract I would highly not recommend booking your event here

Damien M.

Yelp
Canceled AFPAC and locked their equipment inside. Would never recommend this place. What kind of business cancels on an event like this and then threatens to trespass the people who rented it?

Real H.

Yelp
Dirty place. Rude staff. Food is alright for Detroit. Overall do not recommend booking any event here, management is hell to deal with.

Logan K.

Yelp
Canceled event with less than 24 hours notice in breach of contract. Would not recommend.

Mike C.

Yelp
Last minute cancellation of a large event. No regard for those who flew in to the event or paid for hotels.

Yelp
This place is awesome for events! I've been to concerts, radio shows, art shows, and everything here has been awesome. There is parking inside, which is monitored by security. I recommend getting to the event early so you can get close parking. The Russell is located right off I-75N & I-94.

Yelp
Definitely a favorite place of mine. Dark and dirty venue but I always have the best time. Something about a warehouse rave that makes you feel like part of a secret party. Bathroom kept relatively clean by one attendant and the bartenders were so busy it was hard to get their attention but once I did they were kind. I would recommend wearing earplugs to protect yourself because it does get very loud.

Yelp
The owners are the worst. I mean OMG. The water gets shut off because they didn't get their permits. The city tried to evict the artists because the owners had fire hazards throughout the building. The elevator is hit or miss which is a major pain in the arse if you have big materials to bring in and out. There was just a huge flood when the pipes burst in the middle building. BUT..it's an Albert Kahn site and the spaces can be gorgeous if you put a little work into them. The studio sizes are really generous and almost all of them are simply flooded with natural light. The rent is not bad. There's an office that will accept packages if you are ordering materials, and the community is pretty cool. Parking is fantastic and it's easy to navigate. It's really convenient to most everything anyone could want to get to, and it's got a lot of duende. I guess I would recommend it but with a mess of caveats. If you are capable of fighting with the landlord, than this is a very good option. But it's always going to be a fight.

Yelp
Went to an amazing art party at the russ last night. Holy ruckus. Check out this link about the fire breathing dragon and other goodies doyle is building. Big ups to the detroit marching band..... http://metrotimes.com/culture/the-party-at-the-end-of-the-world-1.1148107# http://www.redbullusa.com/cs/Satellite/en_US/Article/rapture-hits-the-russell-in-detroit-021243025999174

Yelp
I recently visited during their open house on September 19, 2015..........A very unique Urbex visit for sure. There was some interesting graffiti, murals and wall art to photograph, along with a visit to several floors of artist studios in the Art Building. In that Art building, not much has been done over the years to fix up the stairways and entrance doors on each floor, along with some of the "creep" dark hallways. I sure would not want to visit or explore the building alone, or the outside property, when no one was around.

Yelp
tch...tch...tch... ...ahh...ahh...ahh... Okay, so it's not in the best of neighborhoods, but they're doing a lot of cool stuff here and it's a decent office space. Some friends have setup shop doing an internet radio broadcast up on the 4th floor. Which...wow, yeah, staircases are a little rough, and the elevators...well, they're not all that confidence-inspiring... ...but once you're up in the office spaces, they're letting people do some awesome stuff and it's totally worth promoting and growing.

Yelp
This place is about as good as it gets. Splendid industrial ambiance plus crazy little market/bazaar plus a great venue for offbeat art & cultural events and related shenanigans.

Linda B.

Yelp
Still an absolute dump! Owners don't maintain buildings, power out constantly!! Freight elevators down consistently. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with this dump!!!!!

misty s.

Yelp
There used to be such a great little artists market here. I went this past weekend and it was like a ghetto garage sale, no artists. Was very disappointing.
