"Hasenpfeffer makes an excellent alternative to the Rüssel's gourmet restaurant and is very popular with guests. Particular favourites include venison and slow cooked dishes. True to its name, there is always a hare dish on the seasonal, regional menu." - Michelin Inspector

"The charm of this country house makes itself felt as you approach via a small bridge – it is safe to say the character of the idyllic old mill has been successfully preserved! Ruth and Harald Rüssel clearly put their heart and soul into running their hotel and restaurant. The chef-patron and his talented kitchen team propose a five- to seven-course set menu. Diners are won over by the quality of the ingredients, which they prefer to source from local producers; they even hunt their own game. The classical foundations of the cuisine always shine through, but are elegantly complemented by creative flourishes that never come across as fussy or unnecessary. Try out the surprising wine pairings – they tend to recommend fine Moselle wines. Head to the terrace to sit by a small lake! They also have appealing guestrooms." - Michelin Inspector

Idyllic location surrounded by beautiful nature. The rooms were clean and organized into different themes. The gourmet restaurant had a well-selected wine list, also offering wines not listed on the menu. The menu offered 4, 5, 6, and 7-course meals composed of a mix of regional and non-regional products. The portions were generous, and the ingredients tasted very fresh. The first waiter, a man, was very professional, and the second waiter, a woman with darker hair, was unprofessional and unfriendly, warranting a half-point deduction. The second, non-gourmet restaurant, Hasenpfeffer, also offered cuisine featuring local and fresh ingredients, but with room for improvement. The dynamic pricing for the same wine list resulted in another half-point deduction.

We recently stayed for one night and dined at the Michelin-starred Gourmet Restaurant. While we appreciated the well-furnished room, its size, cleanliness, and the quality of breakfast, our experience at the restaurant left us a bit underwhelmed. We acknowledge the challenges faced by top-tier culinary establishments in terms of personnel and ingredient costs. Our disappointment primarily revolved around the 4-course menu with an additional cheese and wine accompaniment. The starters and main courses were commendable, but we felt the absence of a sommelier to guide us through the wine selection. Minimal explanation was provided, and there was no upfront choice that catered to our taste preferences. Despite having had better experiences elsewhere, we found this aspect somewhat acceptable. The letdown intensified during the cheese course. Instead of a diverse selection presented on a cheese trolley, we were served a pre-prepared cheese plate with small portions and a seemingly basic and occasionally bland assortment. Additionally, there was no dessert; we did not get any dessert, merely a plate with four biscuits. Interestingly, these biscuits are commonly served with coffee at the end of a meal in other restaurants without incurring any additional fees. Given the substantial cost of approximately €500 for two people, our experience at this Michelin-starred restaurant falls short of what we expected. While certain aspects were enjoyable, the overall dining experience did not live up to the reputation one would associate with a restaurant of this caliber. Before this review we sent an email to the establishment 3 days ago, explaining our feelings about the experience, but up until now, we did not get any reaction. *** Edit: We hope that, after analysing the answer of the establishment that everyone is able to make up his mind about their mindset and customer centricity. To make things clear: 1. we did, right from the primary order say we wanted the cheese plate 2. we did NOT get any desert (if the aformentioned biscuits were served with the coffee), 3. we were not informed about any aspect of their meager cheese plate, 4. we were not introduced to the chefs wife, 5. we were mainly served by a young lady server, 6. this was a gift for my wife's birthday, I would not start aguing live during dinner, and their reaction confirms that this would not have made any sense anyways.

Great food of local and seasonal ingredients. (Child) friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere in a formal classy setting. Pricey but worth it.

What an idyllic hotel and restaurant in the middle of nothing. I was invited for a business dinner and wasn't aware it was one star Michelin, before I exited the door. The atmosphere was stylish and professional without being stiff and boring. The menu was greatly put together. Both with extremely light and delicate dishes, as well as more intense umami dishes. I'm impressed, that I must say. A shame older vintages are no longer available of the great wines. The list itself could also be a bit broader, but again it's not necessary.

The location is magnificent and calm. The terrace of the restaurant was awesome, next to the little lake. The food and service was excellent. Cant wait to visit it again

My wife and myself had a one night break in the Landhaus. We enjoyed the room which was spick-and-span with all amenities and most of all we enjoyed the gourmet restaurant. Great quality, and maybe the best roe-deer we ever ate. The menus were interchangeable which gave us a great choice. The accompanying wines were just fantastic and chosen with great competence by the sommelier Mr. Winkelmann. His knowledge of wine and making them was stunning and great fun, too.All staff was very attentive. We recommend the place with pleasure.

We stayed in Landhaus St. Urban with our group of culi-friends, real dutch ''Feinschmecker''. The expectations were high, and we were not disappointed. We always experience a great deal of hospitality in the German hotels and restaurants. Also here this was the case: all personel is very kind and ''sorgsam'. Áround the hotel it is very quiet; there are trees, a little lake or large pound as you wish, nice places to lpunge when the wheather allows it. Rooms are pleasantly furnished, much wood is used. For us the highlight was the restaurant. This was our main decisive factor to choose this hotel for staying in the Mosel region where we were on winetour. We had the priceworthy arrangement with 2x a 4-course menu, and the last night a 6 course one. One less good observation: rather simple amuses, and every evening the same amuses. But the menu's were very good, tasty and well presented. Impressive winelist as well.

We booked into the Gourmet restaurant for the evening of 28th June 2020 to celebrate my husband’s birthday and stayed overnight in the St Jacques Suite. Everything was perfect; the welcome, the room, the dining and the breakfast. A wonderful ambience and a maker of happy memories.
