"Russo's is an old-school Italian deli is the kind of place that makes you want to stop what you’re doing and make some pasta immediately. But if you can avoid the tempting fresh pasta and sauces and keep your eyes on the prize, the Italian deli sandwiches are excellent. Get any that involve the fresh mozzarella and you’ll be happy. This is more of a to-go spot than a place to sit and eat, but sometimes that's exactly what you need. There’s also a second location in South Slope for your convenience." - Carina Finn Koeppicus, Kenny Yang, Neha Talreja

So place an order for whatever fresh pasta, sauces, and cheeses that Russo’s has available for takeout right now. And don’t forget to grab one of their Italian deli sandwiches." - team infatuation

"Russo’s is a high-end Italian deli and grocer, but it’s the kind of place where they know the regulars’ orders, and they hand you bites of house made mozzarella assuming that you want to try some, which you definitely do. You can buy very good cheeses, meats, and pastas here, but you should also get one of the loaded deli sandwiches to go, especially any one with that fresh mozzarella." - Matt Tervooren

Google
Now mind you I just went here for the Prosciutto di Parma aged 12 months and the fresh mozzarella. I found the Prosciutto di Parma was a bit underaged and even a little under-seasoned, the mozzarella was fine nothing that blew me out of the water but the hot food looked exceptionally good and I’m making a point to check that next time.

Google
Mannnnnn I just ordered the Italian Hero-Cappo Sandwich and I just had to get on here and give this place the praise that it deserves! Holy moly what a great sandwich. SUPERB ingredients. Plus, they obviously know HOW to build a sandwich. We're talking which layers go where, how much, etc. I wish I could give these guys more than 5 stars. They deserve every star!

Adriana De Pitkin

Google
I recently discovered this place! They have some many options for everyone. The godfather sandwich is the best and for dessert I would recommend 7 layer (rainbow) cookies, tiramisu or raspberry tartufo which is delicious!

Google
This is a mega store for all things Italian. It has sauces, pasta, breads and cured meats . It has fresh meat and fresh cheese and pasta. You can literally get lost looking at the large selection. I stumbled upon it on accident and I am coming here for my pasta from now on . Its fresh and inexpensive. The customer service is amazing.

Google
The lasagna was old, I asked how long it's been sitting there, I was told it was made that day, but it was a lie, also the rice balls were old. And, the slab beacon made me want to call the Department of health on this store. I haven't been in that area for years and the quality of the produce in that store has really gone down, it's disgusting. I might still call the Dept of health.

Great Italian deli in Park slope/ Gowanus. They have fresh pasta, imported cured meats, and a butcher shop. The sandwiches are amazing!

Google
I promise you if you have $10 to spend it won’t be wasted on a single product here. These guys know what they’re doing and deserve all the support and business. There’s no place like Russo’s

Google
A great local store with knowledgeable staff. All the food; grocery, butcher, deli, is all of high quality at a really great price.

Yelp
Great full spread deli and sandwich shop . Good service and prices too. Few tables inside too

Yelp
This place has been in my bookmarks collection for awhile. I decided to stop by because I was hungry. I ordered the Italian hero because it is typically my favorite sandwich. It was very good. I would definitely visit again.

Yelp
Russo's is the real deal for an Italian Deli. Salami and other meats hanging from the ceiling. Olive oil everywhere. So many Italian Delicacies here. I absolutely love this place. If your ever in Slope. You must come here.

Kenny C.

Yelp
Great place to have in the neighborhood. I don't know how they keep their sandwiches at $13, but I'm glad they do. They also have a wide selection of prepared foods, deli foods, etc. Super nice folks. If you need butchered cuts, the 7th ave location is better for that.

Michael N.

Yelp
Oils world style deli with good food. I love pastrami and aside from places like Katz , Arties and Barney Greengrass this place has spunk ! Don't like my pastrami cooked in a microwave. They did that to heat up my sandwich! .. Aside from that , definitely a place to grab and go if your in the area.

Yelp
Went to Russo's Mozzarella & Pasta for lunch on Saturday afternoon. This review is just for the sandwiches, and not all the other wonderful goodies to be had at this specialty store. Quality: Russo's Mozzarella & Pasta is a shop that has all the Italian food and ingredients you could ever need. Fresh pasta and sauces, homemade cheese, a whole bunch of pre-made items, as well as hot and cold sandwiches. During this visit we just ordered some sandwiches, the Italian Hero-Capp Sandwich and the Meatball Parmesan Sandwich. The Italian Hero-Cappo Sandwich is highlighted by its meats, soppressata, mortadella, and salami, but also has provolone and roasted red peppers. A solid, yet simple sandwich, which I think could be improved with some vegetables to add a crunch and freshness. The Meatball Parmesan Sandwich is basic, yet very good. Delicious meatballs and homemade mozzarella. The meatballs are soft and barely held together, perfect to squish inside the sandwich. The sauce is perfect, and the abundance of mozzarella stretched across the bread is heavenly, though I felt the cheese could use some additional salt. Quantity: Huge sandwiches, which will either leave you stuffed or make for two meals. Value: $12 for the Italian Hero-Cappo Sandwich. $12 for the Meatball Parmesan Sandwich. Ambiance: We visited the Russo's Mozzarella & Pasta along 5th Avenue in Park Slope. The store feels very small, but that is because they literally filled ever inch of space with different food items. Fridges line the left wall, while the deli counter stretches the length of the store on the right. Folks who are interested in sandwiches can head to the back right corner, and let the staff work some magic. Crowd: It is not a big shop, so even a small crowd will quickly make it feel cramped. And expect a lot of regulars chatting with the staff. Service: Coordinated and friendly staff behind the counter ready to assist. Parking: Street parking can be found on the nearby streets.

Michael S.

Yelp
Really disappointing sandwiches -- meatballs were flavorless, bread like from a supermarket, raw garlic is not really edible. Have a few more items to work through, but expectations are low.

Marlena K.

Yelp
When I walked in I was super hype because the smell of Italian specialty store fills your nose with beautiful aromas... if only the food and products held up to that aroma.. I usually never go into Italian specialty stores because after shopping at colluccio deep in Brooklyn nothing holds up to that standard! I purchased one of the pastas from the freezer it was ok... I prefer the pasta bar in Whole Foods over the pasta here and the raviolis from pastosa in BK. The ricotta tasted SO BAD. We trashed it after trying it, it was overly creamy and very gritty.. we purchased a sandwich which came with a free can of soda, the sandwich was not good ..not packed with flavor.. this place does not hold up let's just say that. I won't be coming back. Staff to the contrary is very helpful and nice. Credit cards accepted. Parking is difficult due to the mass amounts of meters.

Yelp
Get the NYPD - Excellent Sandwich Get whatever you want, doesn't matter....... EVERYTHING IS EXCELLENT

Kevin Y.

Yelp
I honestly cannot remember the last time I threw out my entire meal because it was inedible. Thos review is strictly for the 5th Ave location of Russo's as I've often frequented their 7th ave location which makes some solid chicken and meatball parms. Kudos to you guys; please help your other location find their bearings. Fast forward to today's delivery and I honestly have no idea what kind of meat they used to make the meatballs. It had a really weird taste to it, possibly even gone bad. The meatball could not hold its shape and literally fell apart. The sauce was absolutely tasteless and the hero was just a piece of soggy bread. I honestly tried finishing the sandwich and it just got worse with every bite. I couldn't let myself suffer any longer and neither should you guys. Save yourself the trouble and visit Russo's on 7th.

Peter K.

Yelp
This place is decent. But they need to bring their PRICES DOWN. $14.95 for an Italian sub? Crazy. I just don't go now. I can be understanding about inflation. But this is ridiculous, taking advantage of customers.

Matt A.

Yelp
A truly great Italian food store. From hard to find ingredients to prepared dinner entrees to kick ass sandwiches, this place won't disappoint u.

Abraham D.

Yelp
Came in - first time to but 2" steaks with 3# ground mix fir meatballs, Having a friends dinner tonight. There were 2 guys there. 1 the cashier the other preparing foods. Asked the cashier who's ahead of me ? The guy preparing foods told him in a very loud voice "let him wait". How disgusting impolite. How horrible to say that to a customer. You can say. Gimme a min I'll get to you. Well guys. I don't care how great your products are. I believe in service. To be f...in rude to customers. Voiced my opinion and walked out. Went 1.5 miles away to Paisanos. What a pleasure to shop there. Didn't 86.00 there. Will never ever shop by you guys. I am a member of "The other 5th Ave" IG & FB.

Yelp
I think 4 stars is about right for this place. We got several different items and although I thought it was good, I have been to better Italian stores and it wasn't particularly cheap. I did have high hopes as I love Italian shops. We got fresh pasta, which was good, but not great, a solid sub, a dessert. Nothing was bad, but I left a little disappointed for my high hopes.

Betty L.

Yelp
I am always excited to go to an Italian deli. The front of the place looked very authentic but when you walk inside this place was not what I expected. It was sort of bare a bit disappointing. Nothing really seemed appealing to me. The only thing I decided to get was a hero sandwich their #18 prosciutto with fresh mozzarella cheese (minus basil leaves) doused with red wine vinegar. I had them slice it into four and it was delicious. Would I come here again, maybe.

Cynthia N.

Yelp
The Pizza was great. It wasn't heavy. The pizza bread was great with the truffle burratta. The table side pepper oil was a great addition as well. I'll be back!

Faye Y.

Yelp
Love love love mozzarella. Put it on a panini with yummy prosciutto, hot? YES PLEASE! Let's not forget the broccoli rabe which they generously stuffed. Add their chili sauce and you're good to go! All of this for under $10 & it comes with a free can soda or water ! Plus the panini is good to split with a friend. Their selection of pasta and sauces amazes me...and their bread? So legit. Such a gem !

Amanda H.

Yelp
I've ordered from here twice in the last few months thru Yelp. I always get an estimated time of like 35-45 mins, but that's a lie! They're always a lot faster than that. In fact, I'm usually at the store within 10-15 mins of ordering and it's ready! Highly recommend meatball parm hero. I grew up with an old school italian momma who made the best meatballs on the planet and it had always made me skeptical to order them when I'm out. A lot of places use frozen ones and they're always rubbery and over-seasoned. Russo's are like melt in your mouth amazing!! And the prices for the heroes are great too, esp for the area!! $9.95

Somara S.

Yelp
Was so delighted to find Russo's in my neighborhood. I walked in and it reminded me a big of Italy, gelato, fresh pastas and dried meats. It's not easy to find a place like Russo's that specializes in Italian product. I had The Godfather sandwich for lunch (ate the whole thing). Reminded me of Italy in the best way. Will definitely be back for more take-out and grocery shopping!

Jose C.

Yelp
Delivery was quick. The rotisserie chicken here is delectable. Going off delivery alone. Got some frozen lobster ravioli 10/10, that chicken I mentioned 10/10 and the park slope sandwich(mozz and eegplant sandwich) 10/amazing. Good good guys. I buy quality steaks here as well, never been disappointed from service or quality in this establishment. Brooklyn at its best.

Ben B.

Yelp
I love this place. Homemade pasta, incredible sauces, a dizzying array of olives. Pretty spectacular. Did once have stale bread for a sandwich, but other than that, no complaints about the dozens of times I've been here.

Nat S.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I've had in Brooklyn. And the staff is super friendly. P.s you have to give their chicken soup a try!! I will be returning.

Queen Of H.

Yelp
Great quality and selection of well-cut meat. Also, great sides- prepared already! Their bread is some of my favorite in park slope and I highly recommend the fresh mozzarella. It has a bunch of other European products for sale like pasta and olive oil. Nice people! Good service!

Natasha G.

Yelp
Great selection of Italian specialities from pasta to house-made prepared foods. Great customer service. My favorite Italian hot poppers in the City!

Oliver Q.

Yelp
Great selection of Italian specialities, and the meat and bread is also reliable. I have to say, however that the service is often surly at best. When I spend money in a shop, is it too much to expect a "hello" or a "thanks" when I hand over my hard-earned? One of the servers is down-right rude (Carlos - Glasses). Leaves a bitter taste in the mouth when you spend over $100 and your server doesn't even face you when he hands your receipt.

Laura L.

Yelp
A quaint, hometown-feeling Italian deli with plenty to offer. First, their homemade spaghetti sauces are delightful -- you can't find anything like them at the grocery store. I specifically recommend the Matriciana and Puttanesca sauces. But the real gems are the deli sandwiches. You'll feel like you really are in Italy biting into the Carroll St. or President St. Tip: the sandwiches are huge, so maybe anticipate splitting with a friend. The staff is very kind which can be hard to come by in New York. I came in at the end of the day a few months ago and decided to purchase the last olive bread. They gave it to me for free because it was so late in the evening and not as fresh.

Ana G.

Yelp
I really like russos they have a big selection of pastas, I like the ravioli with walnuts that is the most amazing thing, they carry many Italian items they have mozzarella cheese that is made in house.

Katie H.

Yelp
I ordered the #2 panini ($9.95), which is the panini with fresh mozzarella, red peppers, and prosciutto. They have a bunch of panini options with various meats and also sandwiches where you can add different dressings. My panini came with a generous portion of freshly sliced prosciutto along with fresh mozzarella, which, to me, made it seem like I got my money's worth. The bread was a little bit hard and dry, so if I went back, I would want to get something with an aioli or dressing. The sandwich also comes with your choice of drink. They also have a little grocery store with meats, prepared foods (mozzarella sticks, salmon fillets), and a variety of house made fresh pasta. If I lived in this neighborhood, this would be my go to spot for buying specialty groceries. Everything here was very reasonably priced and the employees were really friendly.

Rick R.

Yelp
The most disgusting customer service ... sauce that was no way Italian... and meatballs??? ... don't even know what that was .....nothing good about this place. This is not an Italian butcher ... does not have authentic Italian food ... I paid 23.00 for 2 meatballs and a small container of sauce. I couldn't even eat it... I threw it out. Save ur money.. save ur tastebuds

Candace H.

Yelp
This is one of the places you walk by all the time and always say you will go in some day. Well today was my 1st Russo's experience and I couldn't be any more pleased. Before even going in I was expecting lots of Italian goodness. I wasn't disappointed. Inside you will find lots of pasta, meat, cheese, and sweets. Today I picked up some crab raviolis, prosciutto, prosciutto balls, a rice ball, and nougat candy. I was very pleased with the selection of different types of raviolis. Unfortunately, I didn't sample or look into any of the cheeses. Next time I'm in I will definitely pick up some cheese. This place also makes different types of sandwiches which I didn't get a chance to try either but I'm assuming that they are great since this is such a legit establishment. The service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgable. They kept insisting that I sample different things which I thought was so awesome and a memorable touch. I'll definitely return and recommend Russo's to anyone who is looking for authentic Italian fixings.

Hong L.

Yelp
Sometimes you just want a meatball sub. I was craving one today, and went straight to Russo's. The subs here are no joke. They are huge and delicious. We got the meatball sub and the broccoli rabe wrap. Both were excellent. The sub was filled to the brim with meatballs, sauce, and mozz. The same went for the broccoli rabe wrap, filled with rabe, sundried tomatoes, and mozz. The only gripe was that I wish the meatballs were alittle warmer. We will definitely be coming back.

Mic W.

Yelp
I went here and got a sandwich and it was really good. Everything is super fresh and the smell of the store is amazing. Staff is alright but I would go back for the food. They have fresh bread, mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes. I wish they would have some more options for the premade meals but overall a nice little Italian pasta store

Laura M.

Yelp
They consistently have great pasta. My favorite is the porcini mushroom gnocchi, which I add butter, sautéed Brussels sprouts, lemon zest and red pepper flakes too. ( a nyt recipe) and it is so delicious.

Harlan D.

Yelp
Great local italian specialty store. All sorts of fresh cheeses, meats and imported goods. They also make their own pasta and there's a ton of variety for what they're stuffed with. For under $10 you can get an awesome hero sandwich made with super thin sliced meats, and it comes with a drink! I had the Godfather and it held me over for 2 meals.

Edward J.

Yelp
Awesome shop. The fresh mozzarella left a little to be desired but the sausage was fire. Everything is really reasonably priced too, it's one of those rare places that pulls you out of the daily slog that shopping for dinner can slip into, a brief respite in a long day.

Jon A.

Yelp
This place is bomb.com ! I got a panini with home made roast beef, marinated portobello mushrooms, and Swiss. So delicious. For $8.95 with a free can of soda, you won't do much better. Also just impulse shopped the shit out of this place and got fresh pasta and marinara sauce for dinner.

Randy H.

Yelp
Russo's is the best. The sandwiches are good, but their real strength is the quality of their product. I can't even use Premio sausage from the grocery store anymore because Russo's Italian sausage is so much better. Probably my favorite thing about this place is stopping by after work, buying their homemade pasta, sauce and sausage, and for about $12 I have a "home-cooked" meal for three I would have paid $50 for at a restaurant. And all I did was boil the pasta, warm up the sauce and cook the meat. Can't beat that. Both locations are great.

Teri L.

Yelp
This place is legit. Panini's are nice and toasty. Chicken parm sandwich is slammin (said the hubs). Pasta salad was amazing. Wide variety of meats, cheeses and fresh pasta. Happened upon this place by chance. Glad we did. We'll be back for sure

Rick S.

Yelp
Great sandwiches! I was visiting from the west coast and have been craving a proper Italian sandwich. This place has got it! a large sandwich and they are not shy with pilling on the meat that is very fresh. Overall looks like a great little shop, I want to come back for the mozzarella soon.

A C.

Yelp
Just had rice ball and prosciutto balls this location. Had to throw them away. The rice balls were sour. And the prosciutto balls tasted like saw dust. I was hoping to find an authentic Italian deli but this place was a disaster.

Greta R.

Yelp
Sandwhiches are just perfection. Huge and delicious. Very authentic old school Italian deli and store. Prepared foods at counter are excellent as well. All fresh and well seasoned.
