The 15 Best Restaurants In Wildwood 2024 - Jersey Shore - The Infatuation

"Russo’s is the place to go when you’re craving a good cheesesteak. The 50-plus-year-old deli also makes a very fine hoagie on the same Liscio’s Bakery rolls as the steaks, plus all manner of breakfast and lunch sandwiches. You can also grab sweet or hot Italian sausages to grill at home, plus sliced-to-order deli meats, and, with a couple of days’ notice, party trays of sandwiches. Just bring cash, since they don’t take card." - regan stephens, candis mclean, sydney mcelwee

I was very underwhelmed with the amount of meat on their hoagies. There should easily be 3X the amount for a Jersey Sub. Jimmy John’s has more. Sad looking Italian. The Roast beef was a little better but still has 1/2 the meat. $34 for 2 small Hoagies. I can’t recommend this place at all.

Joseph Nicholas

Google
The quintessential spot for hoagies and cheesesteaks. Place your order by phone, well in advance- especially on weekends.

Kevin Gallen

Google
Food portions and quantity are good. Typically we have a good experience here, but that was not the case today - I phoned in an order, and the person taking our order did not give us a total price for the order and underestimated the price of a 22" pizza steak by $5, which caused me to need to use their ATM, since they are cash only. In addition, my last initial was written down incorrectly (which led to confusion), and the food took 15 minutes longer to be ready than I was told on the phone. I will not be ordering from them again until they improve some of these processes/communication.

Google
I have over a million views of places where I’ve eaten and reviewed. Now MeatheadZ in Lawrence Nj had the top of my list for best cheesesteak but sadly this cheesesteak at Russo’s was out of bounds delicious and took my top of the charts! I had no idea this place was that good or even existed! I ordered the large cheesesteak and yes, it’s LARGE. The regular would be enough. CASH ONLY but they have an ATM. Surcharge is under $2 and I think that’s fair for a beach town charge. Their menu is vast so it’ll be fun to eat through their menu. Highly recommend !!!

Rocky

Google
We ordered a 22-inch cheesesteak and an Italian hoagie—$65 total. I was fine with the price, assuming the food would live up to the hype. The cheesesteak was decent, but nothing memorable. The Italian hoagie? Pretty underwhelming—barely any meat at all. I was genuinely excited to try this place, but it ended up being a letdown. One and done.

Robert Bongard

Google
Best cheesesteak I've had in all of South Jersey. I was beginning to lose hope in finding a great cheesesteak here but Russo's renewed my faith. We also got an old world chicken sandwich with some broccoli rabe and cheese fries, everything was on point!

Kristina Ellis

Google
First time I was there they didn't get my order right. I asked for roast beef and they gave me turkey. Not the greatest first impression

fred buchner

Google
First time there on a recommendation and had the 22 inch cheese steak. Enough for the 3 of us. Best cheese steak in the Wildwoods.

Ben B.

Yelp
Stopped in for a hoagie and as always the food is top notch. The people who work there are the friendliest and there is always great coffee and a great selection of groceries and other common necessities. Never forget to grab a t-shirt or two.

Yelp
I've been hearing about Russo's forever but we have a spot that we usually go to. Today I didn't have a car and needed lunch for the teenager and myself within walking distance. Russo's market was really my only option. I chose to order after I walked there instead of calling it in. One small ham hoagie, one small cheesesteak with a side of long hots. Be prepared it's a cash only business but there is a Mac ATM inside. This market does a booming business and I have to say that I was surprised they aren't price gouging on essentials as they probably could just for convenience purposes. So after I ordered it took about 20 minutes to receive my 2 sandwiches. Walked the 10 minutes back to the condo. The sandwiches are massive and a 11 inch hoagie is roughly $12. My son's hoagie was ok. Lots of meat and cheese but the chopped lettuce was starting to rust and the onions sliced way to thick. My cheesesteak, hmm. I'm not sure about this one. The bread was good but soggy, but I did have to walk back home. The onions caramelized nicely but I prefer them mixed in not just on the bottom of the roll. Lots of melted american mixed in. Taste. I prefer the other guys who have been around a long time too on New Jersey Ave. To be honest my sandwich had a smell and taste that I quite couldn't put my finger on. If I had to compare it to something it would be that canned roast beef my mother used to buy when I was a kid. The Maryland Shrimp Mac Salad was descent and definitely made in house with two large shrimp. I'd prefer the shrimp chopped but again preference, no points taken off. Counter girl taking orders and expediting deserves a raise. She is extremely efficient and one of the reason orders get out so quickly. Would I buy again? Maybe a hoagie or stop in for prepared salads. But I will leave the cheesesteaks to the other guys.

Yelp
Sooooo I saw this place on yelp and Facebook so I had to check it out. We rode past on our bikes so we went inside. I'm glad we did. What a tasty turkey hoagie. We got a few tasty sides. 11 inch hoagie $14 bucks The place was packed so our sandwich took 20 min to make. Looks like you can call ahead. Friendly staff. I'll Be back !
google avatar

Yelp
Barrel pickles are a must try! The mac salad was great too! They had a ton of other house made salads as well -- will have to stop by next time we're in Wildwood!

Yelp
Local favorite in North Wildwood. Consistent and a one stop shop for the beach. Clean and quick, don't be shy when going in to place an order or pickup! Breakfast sandwiches and wraps (my favorite is a bacon egg and cheese on a wrap), hoagies and fries - to full convenience store offerings with grocery items and ice. They have everything. Call ahead for quick pickup, if it doesn't go through the first time - call again. Visited a half dozen times during the week holiday.

Yelp
Still as great as my previous review. The Best of the Best. One other note : Their cake slices are wonderful and better priced than competitors and grocery store bakeries. The don't accept cards but their ATM is very low.
google avatar

Theresa M.

Yelp
The sandwiches, especially the hoagies, are delicious and made the true Philly way! The staff behind the counter taking orders and the cashiers were all friendly, attentive and helpful. Russo's also has everything you need during your stay down the shore! The prices are very reasonable in comparison to other places down there and you get more for your buck than most of the other places. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are all available, along with all of your favorite Philly snacks! The store seems congested merchandise and aisles wise, but that's only because they off so much! Check them out!
google avatar

Shae N.

Yelp
Cute market with everything you need! I ordered the Russo's special hoagie and it was delicious. The meat was quality and the roll was perfect. I will be returning. If your planning to go ask them to cut your sandwiche because the small is quite large!
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
All I'm saying is get the buffalo chicken cheesesteak (on a wrap). It's my favorite out of anywhere I have every been ever.
google avatar

Yelp
This market is conveniently located in North Wildwood. Their hoagies and sandwiches are huge! Like easily two meals worth. The ingredients were fresh and tasted delicious, especially the bread. The market portion has good selection of goods for the size. There is free, temporary parking for quick pickups.

Anthony S.

Yelp
I eat a lot of cheesesteaks. This is bar-none, hands down, one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life. I ordered a steak with grilled onions and sharp provolone (had to save the roast pork for another day) and it delivered! Look at this beast! LOOK AT IT!! The other hoagies looked delicious. Meat was sliced fresh. The sides looked amazing. Love everything about this place.

James B.

Yelp
I would tell anyone who complains not to come back ... 37 years local it don't get no better that what they provide ..... If you're going to bitch go to Wawa ... Hands down the best of the best cheese steak my wife and I have ever had !!!
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
The best cheesesteaks, subs, specialty sandwiches, onion rings, et al. in the area! Too bad it's not open all year round!
google avatar

Jerry F.

Yelp
Russo's has the best cheesesteaks anywhere. Philly likes to say they have the best.....NOPE!!! North Wildwood, baby. This place is incredible. Great customer service too.

Albert C.

Yelp
Russo's Market is one of the best restaurants in the entire state of New Jersey. Russo's food is so good that it has made my grown father tear up while eating their amazing authentic Philly Cheesesteak. Most people pray to a god or something religious, but my family prays to the amazing food at Russo's Market when we make our yearly trip to Wildwood. In all of my sixteen consecutive years of going to New Jersey, I'd say I am a true food critic for authentic New Jersian food, Russo's is by all means at the top. Honestly it's over Mack's pizza, and even Sam's. Russo's Market has the most powerful food ever, it's able to change a person, make a grown man cry, and I honestly believe it could possibly bring families together. My review for Russo's is a 50/10 star, it's not for the food, it's for what it does to the people.

Marcel L.

Yelp
I know Russo sells enormous hoagies and 5000 different things. But my steak was literally ground meat on a roll. No steak pieces, just all corned beef hash like beef. So incredibly disappointed.
google avatar

Nick B.

Yelp
Classic deli/market. Must stop on every vacation trip. Must have- Philly cheese steaks.
google avatar

Bisham S.

Yelp
Great sandwiches! Pricy, but convenient. Boogie board broke in half the first day we used it. Russo's response was "The sea can be rough."

Alex V.

Yelp
YUM! Burgers, onion rings, and fries were fantastic and the portions are great. Employees were friendly and efficient. This place will become a staple of ours for sure. I'm sad it took us so long to try it!

Yelp
I am glad that I found this place if only by accident. Russo's is a mix of a sandwich shop and small market catering to the vacationers in the neighborhood. But it's way more than vacationers, it's really a local hang out. It looks like they made their mark with cheese steaks and expanded to delicious breakfast sandwiches. The market has some groceries and sundries, enough to make lunch to take to the beach or otherwise have lunch at home instead of having to go to a larger market or grocery. I shouldn't forget luscious looking donuts and pastries in the case that's awfully call my name. (Next time!) For those that haven't been to Wildwood, it remains a work in progress. There are plenty of things from yesteryear that look like it is still yesteryear. Not so at Russo's. Russo's clearly has invested in the future keeping the place clean, painted and up-to-date. Other places look a little dingy and sketchy, not Russo's. On that basis alone, I feel like I'll be going back to Russo's in the future. Onto the more important stuff, after mistakenly going to another market for lunch supplies, I drove by Russo's and collected the only thing that anyone should ever eat on at the beach: a bacon egg and cheese on a Kaiser roll. The Kaiser roll was perfect not tough but still gave a good bite with the mound of bacon and pile of eggs and cheese. These eggs were cooked flat, certainly not runny and but hot and tasty. The short walk back to our lodging did not decrease the tastiness. Coffee was excellent. While I was waiting for my order, I browsed the small market in case I needed to come back. Important notes: cash only. Cash only. Cash only. And use the side door if you're just going in for sandwiches.

Yelp
Hoagies are huge and plenty of meat. Cheese steaks are the same. I've been going to Russo's every summer since the 1980s and the quality has always been the best in North Wildwood.

Yelp
1 Star Is Being Generous, We Got 3 Sandwiches, Italian Hoagie, and 2 Cheesesteaks With Fried Onions and Ketchup, The Italian Hoagie Was Far From Great, That Sandwich Would Have A True Italian Rolling In Their Grave But That Was The Best Part. The Two Cheesesteaks Were Just Utterly Disgusting. Onions Were Sitting Out On The Grill For Hours, And The Roll Was Soggy, However After All That It Somehow Gets Worse. We Paid 51 Dollars For The Sandwiches And Waited for ATLEAST 1 HOUR, Your Better Off Going To Wawa.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food. Fat and delicious cheese steak. Worth the trip or if your in Wildwood, stop in.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Not a long tale. Russo's is da bomb in NW!! Picked up buffalo chicken wrap (crispy), a cowboy burger and wings. Quality food is prepared at Russo's there is no doubt. Everything cooked perfectly and the flavors were all there and amazing. Medium burger order resulted in a medium burger, you don't always get that. Still kicking my fingers while I write this as the wings were really really good and perfectly cooked. The wrap was super and Russo's definitely added to our family vacation experience, much thanks.
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
We had cheesesteaks and Italian subs, and this is the kind of food I grew up on and was craving. It was amazing. We also loved the stuffed peppers. I love real Deli's where they slice the meat right there in front of you. Just FYI they take cash only.

John A.

Yelp
Big portions. Fast service. Great selections. Good coffee. Convenient to the beach! Go every time we're down in n wildwood
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Skip Wawa - This is a must go to while at the Jersey Shore...Excellent Breakfast sandwiches and delicious Hoagies
google avatar

Terry V.

Yelp
Italian hoagies are so good! I had the rice pudding which was delicious. It's cash only.

Jacki M.

Yelp
Russo's donuts used to be the highlight of our summer routine until this summer. This year's donuts have been the worst. Not to mention that they are thrown in a bag and look like this when you get home. Come on Russo's... you can do way better than this!
google avatar

Ann A.

Yelp
One of the best corned beef sandwiches I've had in a very long time. Everything is fresh. The store is clean and the employees are friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Joe A.

Yelp
Love having this place around the corner. The roast pork and mamma russo's are both fantastic.

Pizza K.

Yelp
The best in wildwood!!!!! 1) Buffalo chicken cheesesteak 2) Italian hoagie 3) Cheesesteak w/ cooper 4) Burger 5) Dirt pudding
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Russo's has amazing cheesesteaks, one of the best I've had outside of Philly!! Don't miss out!!!
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
I got the cheesesteak. I don't know what went wrong. Russo's comes highly recommended. It was a good size cheesesteak. I don't know if it was covid-19, beginning of Summer but not really beginning of summer because of quarantine or the bad weather but this cheesesteak just didn't taste right.
google avatar

Brittany J.

Yelp
I tried Russo's chicken cheesesteak on our wildwood vacation last year, and when getting ready for vacation this year, it may have been what I was looking forward to most. They sell cheesesteaks in 11 or 22 inches, and it's a cheesy monster. I'd highly recommend them! Call ahead, the line gets long. It's cash only.

Kevin H.

Yelp
North Wildwood staple. Best hot sandwiches in the area. A must do when I'm in town. The big cheesesteaks are huge.

Frank C.

Yelp
This place offers the best hoagies on the island. Their Italian hoagie (especially Mom Russo's Special: loaded with Genoa salami, prosciutto, hot dried capo cola, pepperoni & great sharp provolone cheese) stands out! Sandwich Sizes: small 11" or large 22" which is typically shared by two hungry customers. Unfortunately, Russo's Market stays open on a seasonal basis, so get there before the summer seasons ends! (note: Cash only w/ATM on premises).

Karen D.

Yelp
We order a grilled buffalo chicken wrap and received a chicken cheese steak. We order onion rings and received chicken fingers. 2 other steak sandwiches were also incorrect. Total order 100% in correct. Never going back again
google avatar

Roseann M.

Yelp
Russo's is our favorite, seasonal, local market in NWW! Their sandwiches are so good! Highly recommend their cheesesteaks & Turkey BLT. Just make sure you have $ they are cash only.
google avatar

James F.

Yelp
Awesome little market! Cash only! Get the cheesesteaks! Only a block or two from the beach. Definitely go here in north wildwood!
google avatar

Kaitlin F.

Yelp
Not opened during off season . Awesome hoagies can't wait until the season starts, hopefully by Easter time. Quality ingredientS!!
google avatar

Jenny K.

Yelp
Whenever I vacation in North Wildwood, Russo's is the spot for breakfast and lunch. But this summer I've been super disappointed. I came last Sunday to get some sandwiches for the gang before hitting the beach. We got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and an italian hoagie. 1. There was no bacon in the egg and cheese bagel. Hmm..... okay 2. There was barely any meat in the italian hoagie! way to skimp out on all the meat. it was mostly lettuce and onions. 3. When we were checking out the check out girl proceeded to put all my cold drinks in the same bag as my hot bagel sandwiches and hashbrowns. I had to immediately say can you please separate hot and cold please.... Gotta step it up Russo's!
google avatar

Cory K.

Yelp
This is the place for cheesesteaks! Offering the famous sandwich is a small (11") or large (24") they are packed with meat. The salads are delicious and all appear homemade. Call in your order to save time during peak times, and bring a friend to help carry your bag!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Always great food. Love it for lunch while on the beach. Hoagies and cheesesteaks. Cash only.
google avatar

Alana P.

Yelp
There is no better cheesesteak than a Russos cheesesteak...PERIOD!!! My favorite part of Memorial Day weekend is not getting to go to the beach, but getting to go to russos literally perfection! Also, don't sleep on the chicken cheesesteak. Drooling. Ughhh why can't you be open year round lol
google avatar

Donna P.

Yelp
Love Russo's market. They have a great selection of groceries. The have subs, great desserts and so many other home made foods.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
My mom and my cousins love this place. So I had to try it for myself. Got lunch for the family. They definitely make huge sandwiches. So that's a plus. My personal experience was that the cheesesteak was quite good. Meaty, fresh tomatoes, solid roll... it was well constructed. Everyone I ordered for enjoyed what they had. I don't like that they're cash only with one of those ripoff ATMs in the place. I just immediately assume the owner is up to something when I see that. But the sandwiches will bring me back sometime.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
My favorite place at the shore! Obsessed, literally would choose a rental based off Russo proximity. The mamas special is out of this world, and they also have my favorite cheesesteak around. Hands down somewhere I miss year round when I'm not there
google avatar

Dat N.

Yelp
Philly, don't hate me but Russo's cheesesteaks are to die for. Don't stress, their hoagies are good but don't rival those I've had all over Philly but I had to give credit where it's due. If and when I'm in Wildwood, Russo's is going to hook up my carb cravings.
