I am glad that I found this place if only by accident. Russo's is a mix of a sandwich shop and small market catering to the vacationers in the neighborhood. But it's way more than vacationers, it's really a local hang out. It looks like they made their mark with cheese steaks and expanded to delicious breakfast sandwiches. The market has some groceries and sundries, enough to make lunch to take to the beach or otherwise have lunch at home instead of having to go to a larger market or grocery. I shouldn't forget luscious looking donuts and pastries in the case that's awfully call my name. (Next time!)
For those that haven't been to Wildwood, it remains a work in progress. There are plenty of things from yesteryear that look like it is still yesteryear. Not so at Russo's. Russo's clearly has invested in the future keeping the place clean, painted and up-to-date. Other places look a little dingy and sketchy, not Russo's. On that basis alone, I feel like I'll be going back to Russo's in the future.
Onto the more important stuff, after mistakenly going to another market for lunch supplies, I drove by Russo's and collected the only thing that anyone should ever eat on at the beach: a bacon egg and cheese on a Kaiser roll. The Kaiser roll was perfect not tough but still gave a good bite with the mound of bacon and pile of eggs and cheese. These eggs were cooked flat, certainly not runny and but hot and tasty. The short walk back to our lodging did not decrease the tastiness. Coffee was excellent.
While I was waiting for my order, I browsed the small market in case I needed to come back.
Important notes: cash only. Cash only. Cash only. And use the side door if you're just going in for sandwiches.
