Mysterious Signs Indicate a New Mexican Restaurant Is Coming to Fremont | Eater Portland

"A favorite coffeeshop for Grant students and Hollywood neighbors, Rust Coffee Lounge was sold by its original owners to a new couple who took the reins this morning, and it’s currently unclear what changes the new owners will make to the original space." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
The atmosphere is awesome. I love that they have an area for socializing and an area for working/studying. Whether you’re a specialty coffee enthusiast or an iced latte coffee lover, you’re going to love it. The workers are very kind and helpful. Must visit if you’re stopping in Toledo!

Cynthia C.

Google
Great spot. Quick, attentive, pleasant service. No wait. Small but excellent selection of pastries as well as typical coffee shop fare. Went every day during my time in Toledo! Parking lot (free) available.

Liz R.

Google
Stopped in on my way to Canada last week. The coffee was delicious and I had the tastiest grilled cheese I've ever eaten!

Google
Love love love this place! Everyone is so nice, friendly & warm every time I go! Their coffee is phenomenal every time, and their food menu is all tasty! It’s my go to spot to either be alone, do some work, have group meetings or catch up with a friend! I’ll always come back!

Google
Staff are very nice and friendly. The prices are great!! However, I ordered latte and there should be latte. Mine was very normal one! Also, the level of strongest of caffeine was too much strong. I am a latte person and l drank it every. The one l get was not taste good.

Alex Z.

Google
Has the typical local coffee shop vibe that they all seem to have at any local coffee around the country Maybe it's me, but, I think it's actually cheaper now to patronize a Starbucks than it is a local coffee shop anymore. Nearly $7 for a 16oz latte is getting outta hand. It's as if there competing for where the ceiling is as to who's going to charge the most now

Google
Very cute coffeeshop at downtown Toledo. It’s perfect to study, work, or even have a professional meeting/interview. I ordered the pumpkin spice latte from their fall menu. It was so good! I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin-flavored things, but I actually liked this one. I also liked that they have a big rental room that people can use for meetings, parties, or other events.

Google
Rustbelt makes the best lattes! They also a delicious kale salad that I highly recommend! And the donuts are quite tasty. Always amazing service! The coffee shop itself has some pretty cool vibes!!

Yelp
Great coffee in a great in a refurbished rust belt setting. Their large latte comes with a generous 4 shots. Got a Russian tea cake make this an annual stop on the way to up north Michigan.

Yelp
Delicious bagels at a reasonable price- I got an everything bagel with cream cheese and my Bride got a vanilla cinnamon bagel with cream cheese. We really enjoyed them- and I'm kind of a bagel snob. The sign in the window says "Proudly Serving Actual Coffee," and they are. I asked for "a regular coffee," and got what they call "the Workshop." Which is a cup of coffee as smooth and dark as Barry White's vocals. Bride got a tea latte made with English Breakfast tea for maximum caffeine. She described it as "delicious- lightly sweet but not cloyingly so." Altogether with tax it was $14 and change. Well worth it! I'm definitely planning to come back while we're in town.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in Toledo is RustBelt, which I visit several times a month. It is always quiet and clean, and the service is very fast! In December, I tried their Christmas menu, and it was delicious. Surprisingly, even with all the marshmallows, it wasn't too sweet, which was lovely!
google avatar

Yelp
I want to like this place. Nice vibe, good seating, but man the espresso is harsh. The barista clearly knows latte art so I'm assuming he knows how to pull shots properly, which points to either the espresso itself or grinder settings or machine maintenance? I don't know, I just know I wouldn't order another espresso drink from here.
google avatar

Yelp
Expresso is super bitter, Iv tried a few different lattes but never find it drinkable...

Yelp
What a fabulous coffee shop. I definitely didn't expect to find a spot like this in Toledo. Clearly the joke is on me. After parking my car in their private lot, I walked in and was shocked to find a community hub. Not only did they have the option to pay for a coworking space in the back, but it was filled with people. Whether they were there catching up with old friends or to get some work done, it was obvious if you lived in town this is where you would go. After taking a look at the drink menu and scanning their behind-the-counter treats, I landed on a vanilla latte with soy milk and an everything bagel. The service was spot on and friendly. It didn't take long for both of my items to be prepared and from there, I popped a squat, and got to work. I sat at a community table that had a ton of electrical outlets. Thank you for that! The wifi didn't have a password and worked pretty well. There's no doubt that I would come back for the coffee AND the atmosphere. And will likely do so as I travel to Detroit for work every now and again. I can confidently say that Rustbelt deserves five stars all the way.

Yelp
Solid service, they were faster on bar compared to all of the other coffee shops downtown Toledo. They are closed Sunday.
google avatar

Emily F.

Yelp
Service was great, employees were extremely nice and the interior itself is well done. The coffee is average and pricy for what it is. $7.50 for a specialty latte with oat milk is more expensive than other local shops.
google avatar

Ming L.

Yelp
Cool digs. Drip coffee is good! Spacious, ample seating of different kinds (bar height, long couches, long communal table, two tops, four tops, etc.) Wi-Fi is fast.

Linnea R.

Yelp
Cool place with the best cappuccino I've ever had. The decor incorporates rustic reminders of Toledo's past. The staff were very friendly and served everything with a smile. Great variety of patrons.
google avatar

Shante A.

Yelp
You could either sit with the quiet kids (adults) or sit with the rowdy ones. In other words, there's a quieter work space in the back of Rustbelt, lol. I enjoy both sides whenever I visit, and depending on the reason for my visits. I love the ambience of Rustbelt and the friendliness of their staff. There's motivational quotes on the walls of their quiet workspace is amazing! The caffeinated beverages are amazing! I My seasonal "go to" bev is their coffee flights to sample their new drinks.

Yelp
I typically avoid this place because of my own politics (Rustbelt is directly connected to an anti-gay, anti-choice church), but a friend invited me to meet him recently and I never pass up a chance to have some coffee! While I prefer the coffee from the nearby, super cute, Maddie & Bella, I have to say the espresso and iced tea I ordered at Rustbelt were both delicious! And the staff was super friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere really is killer too, and offers a lot of instagramable moments. In this new "work from home" world we live in, Rustbelt offers some really killer opportunities to grab a table and get some work done. The wi-fi is fast, there are a ton of seating arrangements for your meetings, and they even have a few more private areas if you need that. It is a thoughtfully designed space, with a ton of space for crowds, and since there are currently no other co-working spaces in downtown Toledo, this is really a great choice if you need to get out of your home-office. Will I be back? Probably not! But if you're ok with Rustbelt's politics, or like many that eat Chik-Fil-A you just chose to turn a blind eye when it comes to food and drink, definitely check this spot out!

Yelp
1) aesthetics 5 stars 2) location 4 stars 3) coffee 5 stars 4) Macha 3.5 stars (poorly stirred) Has rental space for business conferences, which is really nice and the whole place is an experience just to be in

Stephen ..

Yelp
Wow what a find...huge coffeehouse with really good food and tons of seating and cool vibe
google avatar

Yelp
Wanted to stop for a caffeine break on the way up to Michigan. Found this one close to the highway. They have their own parking lot but there's also parallel parking. Not that busy the day after Thanksgiving. Then again, the place was gonna close for the day in a few minutes. I ordered a seasonal drink. Cappuccino with cardamom? Can't remember. And my sister got a cortado that had a flannel syrup? Can't recall either but it was interesting! It's very open with tall ceilings. Lots of natural light too! Espresso shots are pulled for about 30 seconds. Still pretty light in taste, in my opinion! I don't mind coming back!
google avatar

Kevin V.

Yelp
Cool place for coffee in downtown. My only complaint would be that their menu isn't up to date. They list size options in the store that are not available. Update the menu and it might be a 5 star.

Tony S.

Yelp
Haven't tried enough of their products to be definitive in my rating. Continue to research. Results in ndeterminate.

Yelp
I had to say, Russell coffee is really good, especially in the downtown core of Toledo, I love the service they're really friendly really knowledgeable and care about the customer I really like the ambience. It belongs to a church. So you do have a lot of students and a lot of people that are young professionals coming here . I do like the coffee has variety of different things from different single origins, I discovered this place while ago and I love coming here just for a quiet place for a coffee and just some commodity with the baristas . If you're looking for quality cup of joe. I will refer you to this place there are roasters in Toledo. I didn't realise while back to Toledo is a coffee city . But there's to be discovered every city that you walk into I said that coffee is the bread of life in a city . so I travel to I have to go for coffee to experience the city and culture and what represents . Even though Toledo is a border town towards Michigan . I tend to see a lot of mix of people from Michigan to Ohio . So why am I ranting about that? Because it's just you running into someone you might meet and you have a good conversation with a cup of coffee then you have a good experience then you can come back to his place.

Yelp
On my coffee quest I stopped by. Parking was easy. It's a large space with space to have meetings or maybe a party. It looks like more of a conference room space. No gluten free items but the coffee was really good. I got a snickerdoodle oat milk latte. It was actually really good.
google avatar

Kent M.

Yelp
Wow cool setting here in old downtown area refurb. My favorite type. Honey and Americano drink with side of Avacado Toast. REALLY GOOD.
google avatar

Rachna P.

Yelp
My go to coffee spot in downtown! They have lots of seating options including a separate work corner. They have a room you can rent for conferences and meetings as well. Small but decent breakfast food options including breakfast sandwiches and bagels. The staff is super friendly and outgoing!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent coffee! I came here on a Saturday morning and it was packed! A good sign that this place is good, but I was in a hurry and didn't have time to wait in the line, so I left and came back a couple hours later. It was worth the wait! The coffee was exceptional! I got an iced honey latte with vanilla and nutmeg! It was so smooth! I also got a three pack of protein bites and they were yummy! The price was not bad at all and they were huge! I also got a bottle of beet juice and it was wonderful! The barista was careful to make my coffee just as I asked for it! And the environment is so nice! I would like to come back next time I'm in Toledo and spend more time just relaxing there!
google avatar

Maisha R.

Yelp
Such a beautiful coffee shop. Great drinks, snack options, beautiful seating area with larger workspace in the back (with free wifi and parking). What more could you ask for?! One of my favorite places to study or work when I'm in town.
google avatar

Paul P.

Yelp
We took a quick trip to Toledo to take care of some business ands stopped in before heading back to Detroit. The place is big, very cool vibe. I got a crushed espresso, and my wife got an ice tea. My crushed espresso was delicious, not too sweet. My wife's tea was very good as well. I recommend stopping in if you are in town
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
This place is pretty hip! I had some time to kill between the museum and hotel check in, so I came here to rest and relax for a bit, and I'm glad I did. Walking in, the place was pretty lively and jammin for a Friday afternoon. They have quite a few coffee selections, along with very light snacks. Like muffins and some cake stuff. So, don't go in here hungry! I didn't want a coffee, so I got a tea instead, and sat down to do some internet stuff for a while and chill out before I went to the hotel. Staff here is hilarious, fun and knowledgeable. Plus, the insides pretty darn cool. Open seating, so be prepared to make some new friends! prices are fair for what you get, and really, this place is a gem. Very down to earth people. My kind of crowd.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Amazing coffee and cool atmosphere. Had the mid roast drip and tasted like a pour over. They offer a few vegan treats and the strawberry tart was delish. Also had a cinnamon donut that was likely a top 5 donut of all time for me. Cheers
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
An ice mint and lemon tea sounds so refreshing and an iced vanilla caramel latte. It's an office and coffee shop spot. They have a conference room out front for rental. They close promptly at 3pm today, seems early but whatever. Once again we are the only patrons here with masks on at all. The vanilla, caramel latte looks creamy and tasty. It's not bad. My mint tea and lemon tea isn't bad either, not much ice after it's cooled down, just very slightly cool is all. We got our drink orders with 7 minutes to spare before they closed.
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
Awesome vibe and friendly staff. Cappuccino was great. I was in town for a tour and a large group of us came in and had a great experience. Fast wifi would be a huge addition. It's pretty dang slow. So, coming to get work done wish slow internet just made an overall amazing experience just a little frustrating.
google avatar

Lexi M.

Yelp
Cute downtown coffee shop. The inside is really industrial and there's tons of seating. The cappuccino was perfect and the cherry/Almond scone was to die for! Perfect spot to get some coffee before the Toledo farmers market!
google avatar

Shelly C.

Yelp
#mycurrentobsession No, seriously. I live in Cleveland (which has a ton of awesome coffee shops!) and this place in Toledo, Ohio has stolen my . Picture the perfect coffee shop in your mind - both open and light but also cozy. You can picture a small stage with a singer/guitarist fitting in perfectly (not sure if they ever have that but it's so "coffee shop"!). But while we were there it was quiet, with just enough coffee shop low-tone chatter to soothe you whether you're working or chilling. Just love the atmosphere here. Oh yeah! They serve coffee too ...I had 2 specialty drinks (about $4 each and worth it!). My dirty chai was so good! Good chai flavor and not too sweet, 2 shots of espresso and almond milk, mmmm... My second drink was one of their daily(?) specials, Rose latte - not too overwhelming rose and DEFINITELY not too sweet which I loved so much!! They have food but no gluten free options, which was disappointing for such an up and coming place. My hubby got an old fashioned donut which he seemed to enjoy very much. They also had cookies, muffins, and a couple different types of open-faced toast which looked pretty good. We rented the 419 room which is a quiet, private room. This conference room is gorgeous!! And the rental rate is reasonable $30/hr) Same aesthetic of the coffee shop with good acoustics. We filmed some documentary segments in there and it was 100% perfection. I would schedule any meetings, depositions or interviews here. Suggestions for the restaurant? 1. Get some gluten free options and coconut milk. Everything was so perfect- I can't wait until I can go back and chill!

Yelp
Only get to see this place in passing if I am coming in and out of Toledo, Ohio to visit family. When I do visit Rustbelt Coffee, I do get great and friendly service while checking their wares. Located on 119 N. Ontario St., the remodeled building the owners chose was remodeled to fit their non-profit funding to support local non-profits. They claim that 'We aspire to inspire creativity through the power of coffee.' and I think that is a accurate tagline. I say that because when you walk in people are working to create/build things. Conference calls, meet ups and everyone has a phone or laptop! I see them playing it safe during the pandemic and working to keep their staff and customers safe. I always get the cappuccino and a sweet treat to hope the road or while completing errands. And this place is pretty special! 5 stars!
google avatar

Zac H.

Yelp
Stopped in for coffee and tried two of the seasonal drinks, the snowball and spiced citrus. They were both good but the spiced citrus was the clear winner. The cinnamon vanilla bagel was good, but would be better if they had some flavored cream cheese. That being said their cream cheese is whipped which is awesome! I really don't understand why every place doesn't at least offer whipped, but that's a personal preference. The cranberry orange scone was delicious and definitely a repeat purchase. They also have spaces set up that you can rent out. I didn't get the details but the rooms look nice, so if you need a meeting space for an hour or so give them a call. The interior itself is nicely decorated. It's in an old warehouse building so it has the authentic look and it feels nice and open.

Nigel P.

Yelp
Super spot and staff and offerings. And since original review expressing concern over incredible lack of any recycling of metal cans or plastic bottles and rampant use of disposables it's great to see use of high quality classy crockery since two months back. Social responsibility is rising here as they do what it takes to cut the carbon footprint and the landfill quantities - impressive to see customer concerns being heard and acted on. We want you to succeed and to do so with class as you're now doing even more. Cue applause

Yelp
I'm not originally from the US. I consider myself a coffee snob and found it hard to find a great coffee in the past 8 years while living in Toledo. This place is excellent. Took me back to better coffee houses in warmer climates of years gone by. I recommend this coffee house 100%. - amazing coffee and great vibe.
google avatar

Peter G.

Yelp
Staff were friendly, fast and efficient. Donuts were amazing. Coffee and tea were both top-notch. I will be returning. I'm sure for a long time.
google avatar

Jane B.

Yelp
Ordered Thai iced tea. BEST ever. Has star anise mixed in sweet cold foam on top. Wow
google avatar

Kayla H.

Yelp
Popped by here while passing through Toledo. The first four items I tried to order (based on the menu I had seen online), they didn't have. That was a big bummer. Fortunately, the items they did have were super tasty. The Americano I ordered was STIFF. I had to sip it like fine whiskey. At first, I didn't like it, but after I finished it about two hours later, I decided that I did like it. :) The breakfast bagel (without bacon) was very good. I do recommend that for sure. Beautiful space and nice counter staff.
google avatar

Wendy N.

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while. My previous experiences have been great! Delicious and friendly! Nice and roomy with a great look and ambiance!
google avatar

Bryan G.

Yelp
Random trip from Columbus to Toledo to see what type of Jeep shops etc. they had. Town was dead and no sign of Jeep anything anywhere. Happened across this place open in downtown and decided to stretch my legs. Had the best Dirty Chai Latte I've ever had anywhere. Cool little vibe and place. Which I had had time to pull up a chair and hangs out.
google avatar

Phyllis D.

Yelp
Great coffee shop with extremely delicious coffee and avocado toast. There's lots of nearby street parking and a really relaxed atmosphere with tons of tables plus a co-working space in the back.
google avatar

Danielle D.

Yelp
We stopped at this gem on our way north. The baristas were so friendly. Coffee was great and atmosphere can't be beat. What a cool place to work from for the day. I wish we had something like this in Cincy !
google avatar

Cheryl A.

Yelp
This is a great coffee shop. We stopped here twice while in Toledo. Cool atmosphere and friendly employees. I really liked the breakfast sandwich.
google avatar

Maya Q.

Yelp
We rushed to get here on our way through Toledo before they closed, because I really wanted to try their rose latte. Unfortunately I discovered that it was seasonal. However their new seasonal item, sparkling lavender lemonade, was very good and refreshing with a good sour zip to it. I also got a Cortado as a consolation prize, and enjoyed it! The coffee is well balanced and well made. We grabbed a blueberry muffin and a chocolate donut. They were not the best baked goods I've ever had but were a fine compliment to the coffee. On top of everything, the service was stellar! We made it like 5 min before close and the barista was still kind enough to take our order and make it really well and tell us about the menu changes! Overall it was a great stop and I can see why it is the top coffee spot on yelp right now. If we lived in the area we would probably be regulars already. :)
google avatar

Jacquelyn P.

Yelp
Really nice coffee and beautiful place. It's a shame that they are not caring about the current pandemic. Allowing workers and customers walking in and around not wearing masks. Social distancing is not enforced. It's starting to ruin my image of the cafe. Rethinking my decision on giving my business again.

Maria H.

Yelp
I had one of the best vanilla oat milk lattes I've ever had here! Absolutely delicious! I would go out of my way to come back. The "vibe" was very on point for everything from working on your laptop to meeting up with friends. I also saw they had some rooms you could reserve and a back area for working professionals. Everything from the hardwood, floors, lighting, decor, and big windows to let the sun in made for the perfect coffee shop aesthetic. As an added bonus, the bathrooms were nice and clean. While much of the surrounding area has paid parking, there is a lot with free parking reserved for the coffee shop customers immediately to the right of the building. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!

Yelp
This place has been a favorite when I'm in town. Candidly it's also near to my heart because I took my wife there on our second date - her birthday - and so we'll always have a fond memory. The area surrounding Rust Belt Coffee is a bit rough but it feels very safe in the parking lot and café. The decor is modern rustic and has a very cool vibe. The food and drinks are exceptionally prepared and presented. I also love that there is a separate area in the back that can be used for business/work. Give it a try and you'll be glad you did.
google avatar

Chelsea D.

Yelp
The Rustbelt is one of my favorite coffee places. I love that Lyle's crepes are parked outside on Saturday mornings. There's something special about a lemon berry crepe to go with my hot chai tea with almond milk. Rustbelt offers a cool atmosphere and friendly people. The staff is great and there are a lot of options.
google avatar

Corri P.

Yelp
We were looking for a good local coffee shop on our way through Toledo. Rustbelt Coffee was a great stop downtown. It was very busy for a weekday mid-morning. We didn't stay and eat in but they have lots of great meeting space and event a special space for students and business meetings. The coffee was excellent and well crafted. Thanks for a great start to our day.
google avatar

Hayley H.

Yelp
The staff is beyond friendly and welcoming! This spot also definitely has more seating than any other coffee shop in town, which is a plus on the weekends when everywhere is packed. Atmosphere is a 10/10 as well! I'm a photographer and always love the look of this building (inside and out) for shoots (which the staff is always friendly about) Their smokestack coffee is my favorite brew.
