Family-run and proudly local, Rustique bakes stone-oven pies with house-made mozzarella and bread. Locals swear by the Margherita and the thick-crust Sicilian “Kathy” with vodka sauce; it’s a relaxed downtown standby that keeps quality front and center.

This pizzeria is a hidden gem! The margherita and pepperoni pizzas were amazing, full of flavor and perfectly baked. Staff were welcoming and made us feel at home. Great selection of drinks and sides too. A must-visit if you’re craving authentic, high-quality pizza in a relaxed setting

THE. BEST. PIZZA. Delicious. Wonderful. Our favorite in Jersey, if not all NYC. Some argue sauce determines a good pizza. Others claim it's the crust. Rustique has discovered the perfect sauce AND crust, married them, with toppings of your choice to produce a knock your socks off yummy tasty pizza that will become your new gold standard and what you will compare every other pizza to. It's amazing enough we sometimes travel from Vermont down to the city when we get the crave. And we take a pie home (photo of pizza with a green background is Rustique pizza in Vermont) Salads are fresh and delicious. Cheesecake is stunning. Heavenly and addicting. I don't even like cheesecake, my companion insisted I try a bite, since that one bite I'm hooked. Not cheesecake from anywhere mind you, only cheesecake from Rustique.

I have been many times at this pizzeria and they have been always nice. The one star is for the dasher/driver they have which is very aggressive and violent to the point that I need to call the police because he threatened me, I called the establishment and the person who answered was defending and covering him. Please be careful when you order in DoorDash because it looks like this business works with this guy directly.

Delicious pizza consistently. Jersey city is the place to get it. We love Rustique. The Tammy, the prosciutto arugula and Margherita are our favorites. We live out of state and my kids love the prosciutto pizza so much they request a sourdough version at home. Great crust, toppings and flavors!

A hidden gem of Jersey City, a quiet little Italian spot close to Hamilton Park. The food was delicious. In Pizzas, we tried JT, The Mike & Kathy. All were good, would recommend "The Mike". They also allow half & half to mix & match, which I think is great. The Kale Caesar salad was pretty good too. We capped it off with the cheesecake with strawberry sauce. This place is BYOB. They do provide wine glasses. Service was exemplary. Our hostess, the servers - all were very friendly and courteous.

Ordered a pizza, fries and a soda. It was a rainy night so I left a 30% tip. Still when my food arrived 2 hours and 20 minutes later, the pizza and fries were cold and soggy and the soda was warm. The pizza wasn't even in a warming bag. No explanation or apology from the driver. I used to order from this place a couple of times per month, but never again.

Google
I tried, multiple times, to order from restaurant. Every time, the order is canceled. If you cannot sustain demand, turn your location off from accepting orders. Nothing is worth the hassle of ordering and canceling especially when this is the third time. Like they say, three strikes - you’re out! Don’t get wasted your time here, the pizza space is competitive enough to find decent service and consistency elsewhere.

Google
We’ve lived nearby for two years and this has been our go-to pizza place. Always delicious and always great service! Dining inside is cozy, and BYOB. Our favorite pizzas were the Tammy and the Kathy, but anything you get is great. We will forever miss Rustique!

Yelp
If you live in downtown JC and want good takeout pizza, Rustique is for sure one of the better nearby options. Their pies are consistently well-made and tasty, and the staff is always nice. Unfortunately it's really hard to give it 5 stars just because of all the great options across the river (plus Razza, less than a 15 minute walk away), but again, if you want a reliably enjoyable pizza, and don't want to go into the city, Rustique is a perfectly reasonable choice.

Yelp
This place definitely has great pies. And love how old school the place looks with the wood oven. Never been in the front of the restaurant. We always get slices on the side of it. We ordered slices and took a seat outside. They don't have much seating, just two tables. And then brought out our slices out to us. Delicious. If you're in Jersey city definitely stop by.

Yelp
I tried to order from here tonight, but the delivery guy never came. I tried calling but was told there was nothing they could do. I spent the next hour on the phone with Caviar/DoorDash and there wasn't much they could do either. I'm really disappointed because my order was like $90. The food looked good but I now I don't know if I can even get a refund so I won't be ordering here again. Just really disappointed at how this was handled.

Yelp
Was there Sunday. In restaurant at 3:15. Ordered 3 eggplant rollatini and one large pie (there were 3 of us. Eggplant took almost a half hour to arrive. Ate that, then we waited. Server told us pizza would be up in a few minutes. 10 minutes later she told us pizza would be up soon. Then brought the pizza stand and said pizza would be there soon. 15 minutes later she brought silverware and told us pizza would be up soon. Pizza finally showed up at 4:35. Almost an hour and a half for a pizza. And we were the only customers in the dining room. The most ridiculous "restaurant" experience I've ever had.

Yelp
Pretty value, seems pretty good if you get some of the more flavorful toppings but not really for me. Everyone likes the Mac and cheese, basically seems like Mac and cheese today. Garlic bread tasted overcooked. Pizza when freshly baked is nicely browned ok the bottom and holds up it's shape although it does sog a reasonable amount by the 3rd slice. Neapolitan had quit a bit of fresh tomato flavor but I could have done with quite a lot more basil or just larger leaves. White pizza is super bland, ricotta provided more of a slightly unpleasant grittiness I'm texture and basically none of the lactic creaminess I'm looking for. Everyone else seems like the Mike and JC but idk, the base pizzas are kind of just bad. Pretty good option for delivery or takeout though.

Yelp
Favorite pizza in jersey city hands down!! Great for delivery and pick up. Also, they sell pizza dough (s, and l) which made an DELICIOUS at home pizza! Super fun for date night :)
google avatar

Randall H.

Yelp
I appreciate a classic pizza joint and apparently it's family run and old school which is the vibe you get when entering. I am a Neapolitan style guy and they do not promote it being a Neapolitan style spot however the three things that I seek to gauge quality is the dough, the cheese, and the sauce. This place has a nice sauce, borderline sweet and you can tell it's made with love. The cheese was pleasant but it was smothered in sauce, an odd rendition of Margherita but it was pretty good. The thing that killed it for me was the dough. The crust is that unpleasant middle ground between thin crust and not quite NY slice thickness so it's not even worth eating. Thin crust can just be blended into a slice while a thick crust or Neapolitan can be enjoyed separately because its got body and you can savor the flavor. It's really disappointing because the photos on line do look enticing and SOMETIMES even if crust has this girth, it still is backed with some fluff or unique flavor but this just fell short. I'm giving it 3/5 merely because of the quality homemade sauce and faint flavor of quality cheese.

Yelp
Very slow. Very sub par. Too expensive for what it is. There are so many better places to order from in the area. Why bother with this place?

China D.

Yelp
I love this place and have been a loyal customer for over a decade. Recently, I visited for eat-in and they served pizza with rancid cheese. I didn't want to say anything but figured they may not know. From the whispers and looks of the staff, it was clear they knew. I let it slide. I continued ordering takeout and for a few weeks had no issues but AGAIN, on another takeout occasion they served a pizza with cheese that had clearly gone bad! I just cannot let it slide twice. Too bad because their sauce is so yummy. Now I am fearful that I will get rotten cheese every time i think of ordering.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch on a rainy day, can't speak to the pizza but I thoroughly enjoyed a chicken and broccoli rabe sandwich while there...
google avatar

Sama C.

Yelp
This pizza joint is doing it right. They use the backward technique by putting the sliced mozzarella on the dough then add the sauce and toppings. A very tasty style pizza that takes a little bit of time to make due to their busy location. Even though this is a very tasty pizza, it's not something that I can rave about. Nonetheless, it hits the spot with a clean tasty feel. Yes clean. Not heavy in oil or super doughy... this can be a nice cheat meal!

Yelp
We ordered online and hoping to get order as they are. First they missed out order and made us wait for another 30min, lying to us that only took 10 min to finish. We noticed during that time they have lots of take away so they pay more attention to orders with higher values rather than by queue. Then when we got home, we had 2 portions for lunch and another main dish for dinner. During dinner we noticed the food was mistakenly cooked as the portion of appetizer rather than our main dish. So I tried to call to see what can be done. The owner, again lying to us that he's going to give us full refund. It was a nice surprise but I didn't expect that. I said I can send a photo to confirm it before I ate they said no need. 5 min later we noticed they refunded a fraction of it. A bit confused I called again. This time a hostile voice telling me because I didn't call them immediately after we got the food, there's no evidence whether it is true or not. So they are kind enough to refund. It was too late to send photos as I had already finished the food. This is not about money but a matter of principle of how a restaurant is handling their order, their customers and their business. I saw a lot of sweet promises and then changes what they had promised and that concerns me. If you don't have any issues with this kinda attitude be their guest

Yelp
WOWWWW just wow! I ordered for pickup which was quick and easy. The staff was attentive which I loved considering there was a lot of people waiting for orders. They made sure each person was greeted and had an ETA on when their order would be out. 10/10 for customer service! I decided to order a cesar salad, a small "Kathy" pie and Mikes hot honey. The pizza was amazing, especially with the hot honey drizzled on top. the cesar salad is now one of my favorites! Not a lot of cesar salads have the shaved parm so I truly appreciate one that does. Everything about this place is a 10/10 to me. I can't wait to come back and order more menu items.

Yelp
Tiny space. The food was great. Bread and fresh olive oil. Garlic bread with sauce. The service was impeccable. You can bring your own wine.

Yelp
A little surprised with the mixed reviews because I love this place. I've only done take out twice but both times have been great. I can see why there are negative reviews on the service, as they aren't the most friendly people. However I would continue to come back here as I've personally had a good experience. Pizza- made fresh and they are often making it whenever I walk in, and baked in wood fire oven. Flavors are great and you can tell its an authentic pizza. The small pizza is perfect 12" personal size and definitely large enough for me to eat for a meal, I usually eat four of the small pizza slices and am full. I also had their salad which is okay, nothing to write home about but a good accompaniment to the pizza. Service - not the friendliest people and definitely very straightforward, no formalities and they are there just to give you your food, which I don't mind as I'm doing pick up and my orders have been accurate. They double checked with me too what food I ordered before I walked out. If you do pick up you go to the door on the side street. Haven't eaten in before but its BYOB and has a few seats on the inside.

Yelp
I'll start off by the location. This hidden gem is located near Hamilton Park maybe two streets away. This is tucked away This is perfect for enjoying pizza while having a nice time. The pizza is really cheap for the size and tastes like Italian fancy cuisine. The place has two entrances one for the front restaurant and one for getting piazza quick. The vibe is an urban design and it is cozy. The waiters and staff are polite and i definitely recommend.

Chloe K.

Yelp
Best pizza I've ever had!!!!!!!!!! It was so crunchy and when you fold it it's just the best. The people who worked there were sooooo nice!

Leah L.

Yelp
This place's math ain't mathing. The pizza was ok. We got a half and half of 2 different specialty pizzas which they said they did and suggested it. Now I know why. One was $21+and the other was $26+ plus meat on the whole thing ( half sausage/ half pepperoni) they charged me 33.75 saying that they take the most expensive one and charge for full toppings for each half. Still not mathing. They wanted to charge me extra for the sauce that was already part of one of the specialty pizzas. Huh?? Um, no. They knocked it down to 31.75. Woohoo. Seems they should have averaged to prices and charged for one full topping. Not to mention there were barely any toppings on there. It's not a lot of money, I know, but the nickel and dime thing is just sleazy.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best pizza i had. Coming from Las Vegas, this was definitely better. I went in to get slices, the oven was right in front of you and no space to wait at all. But. You get to see pizza getting made so it was no biggie. Slices was ready in no time. Better and cheaper than in west coast. Here is a photo of pizza after a bite.

Yelp
Best pizza in town. I always love the depth of flavors. The amazing crust. Excellent delivery. And let's just talk the about the deliciousness of of all pizza combos and available pies!!!!!
google avatar

Marisa M.

Yelp
Excellent pizza and really nice staff. We ordered a small vegetarian pizza with meatballs on one side. But we got a margherita pizza delivered instead. I called up and the person I spoke to was so nice and said we can keep the pizza and they will send another. The cheese is really great quality and the flavor of the whole pizza is really good. A small is enough for 2 people. They cut it into 6-8 slices. The kale caeser salad was also very good. Came with bread and was large. The parmesan cheese they put on it was creamy and not stinky at all it was very good. Same with the dressing. The first online order you do through thier website is 10% off. I will def order again! Totally affordable. Under 30 for a salad and pizza for 2 including delivery, tip and tax charges.

Ian D.

Yelp
The pizza is decent - not the best I've ever had - but it's always so difficult ordering from here so we rarely do now. Their stock answer is that it always takes them 1-2 hours (at least) to make a pizza for takeout or delivery orders when better pizza places in the area deliver it hot to your door in significantly less than that. I've gone when it's nearly empty and they still require a ridiculously long wait preparation time. Last time we showed up after being notified our pizza was ready and they had more than an hour and 20 minutes prep time that they would need another hour to prepare (meanwhile, it was sitting right there). This place needs to prioritize customer service. Sorry but it doesn't take that long to make a pizza and pop it in the oven and I always walk by it and it's not slammed. Good pizza but never worth the ridiculous wait.

Jillian B.

Yelp
Great pizza with quick service and friendly staff. A hidden gem for a quick bite to eat.

J. T.

Yelp
This little joint has the best pizza in JC. The Kathy, which is a vodka sauce pie is my overall favorite, but you can't go wrong with the pies. The broccoli rabe and sausage is made right and delicious. I always make it a point to stop at when I'm downtown.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from Rustique for Yelp's Big Night In and it did not disappoint! We were initially told that the order would take 85 minutes but it ended up arriving in less than an hour which was great. We ordered all of our favorite things and it ended up being the perfect spread: -Chicken Parm. This order comes with so much that the container is basically overflowing with parm when you open it. The parm is perfectly crispy and the cheese tastes like fresh mozz. The dish also comes with a generous side of pasta. They double layer the chicken, and my only wish is that there was a layer of cheese on each piece of chicken, verse just the top. -Side of meatballs. This comes with four plump meatballs and lots of red sauce and it is the perfect addition to a meal. -Side of broc rabe. For a side the portion is always massive and it comes with lots of fresh garlic. -The Kathy pizza (a vodka pie) with prosciutto. This is my husband's favorite pizza pie in Jersey City. It's a little spicy for me, but whenever we order from Rustique he'll always add this on so he can snack on it for a few days. The crust is super thin and the vodka sauce is rich and creamy. The prosciutto is also very crispy and they put a lot of it on the pizza. We've also dined in at Rustique and it's got a really cute ambiance. It's BYOB, the service is friendly and the vibes are cozy. For classic Italian in downtown JC Rustique is a great option.

Yelp
We got two pies and two entrees from here today and everything was pretty good! not pictures was the shrimp scampi pasta and meatballs. i did not eat the pasta or meatballs but i was told that they were very delicious. the kathy pizza was okay (we added chicken cutlet) but i did not enjoy the sauce as much as i did with the Mike's pizza. the only real issue that we had was that part of our order was taken by the delivery guy when we were picking up so we had to wait extra time for him to come back. however, the staff is always really nice and the food is always super fresh!
google avatar

Cassandra W.

Yelp
i wanna love them so badly but they took 2 hours for pizza to be delivered LMAO we called after 80 minutes of placing the online order and they said it was on the way, then we called 20 minutes after that and they said it was in the oven WHATTTT if it was a normal dinner hour sure fine but it's 9:50pm and they close at 10pm PLSSSS
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
The pizza is very good. I'm not the biggest fan of thin crust but this was great. Got the Kathy and the Mike (fried eggplant instead of prosciutto) and both were so good. Can't really go wrong. The prices weren't crazy for Jersey City. It was easy to get a table on a Tuesday night for dinner. Jersey City isn't overflowing with great pizza and I'd recommend here if someone asked where to get a pie around the downtown/Hamilton Park area. This is a 4.5 kind of place but gets the bump up for how friendly and helpful the staff was and how quickly everyone came out.

Yelp
Cold Pizza, Crappy Customer Service. What if i wanted to dine in? Directed me to take out. First and Last Visit.

Yelp
The pizza tasted really good. We only did take out but the people were very friendly and hospitable. Looking forward to sit down service

Yelp
I ordered the margherita and the vegetarian pizzas for delivery. I didn't get to eat it fresh since it took time to come over but overall, the pizzas tasted decent. Not sure if I'll be back here but pretty okay spot for pizza!

Yelp
We recently moved into the neighborhood and were looking for a quick bite. Ordering online for pick up was super easy and I really love the way their website works. The order was ready faster than we expected, and they call you when your order is ready. Love it. We split a large pizza and a Caesar salad and had more than enough food leftover for the next day. The pizza was really good - nice and thin. I absolutely loved the sauce, it was sweet and savory at the same time. Can't wait to try out some of their other menu items!
google avatar

Ben V.

Yelp
One of the best pizza shops I've been to in NJ so far. Since moving here from Brooklyn I've been on the hunt for a decent slice and it's been 6 long years. Every ingredient they use is fresh and there's no oily drippy mess to deal with. I recommend this place 100 percent!!
google avatar

Ricardo T.

Yelp
Finally found an awesome pizza delivery. I have ordered pizza delivery 2x already and both occassions have been A+. Stone oven pizza. The center crust of pie is nice and crisp not droopy and wet. The lip of the pizza is toasty not brown and burnt. Perfect amount of stringy fresh cheese. Perfect amount of sauce spread nice and evenly. Grilled chicken and broccoli cut to little peices to fit some on every bite. The large pie is smaller that your typical large pies but the quality is much better. Delivery service is on point arriving with pizza still hot! Phone manners are sweet and pleasant. Finally found my new go-to pizza delivery.

Yelp
A charming, quiet place! Second time coming to Rustique and they don't miss on consistency! Pizza is perfect but what we really come for are the mussels fra diavolo, my goodness the flavor of the marinara sauce is unmatched! Great tasting, perfectly cooked mussels. Moreen our server (for both times) has the hospitality of a restaurant owner who wants people to keep coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
The one caveat I'll start with is that it is delivery. But I don't give that off. And I know we are dealing with a small Italian spot in JC but it was just pretty shitty and I wouldn't order again. This is what I get for not following friend's recommendations. I recently stopped drinking as much which is a real shame for this place because I would have given them a higher rating if I was hammered. Pizza was a straight up 1/5. Sometimes it can be on what you prefer but the reality is in the photos. Uneven toppings. So much that it was lopsided, kind of half cooked, not really amazing ingredients. It looked like Jackson pollock had made my pizza. The salad looked like it was from a bodega and the sides, tenders and calamari, were undercooked and looked like they were from shop rite. Thanks but no thanks, no idea why I thought someone doing marketing via letter drop was the option but got the reminder I needed. Service 1/5 - 2 hour wait on seamless, no idea how given how bad it was. Food 2/5 - I managed to be fed, vodka pasta was actually solid Price - 3/5, Definitely reasonable.

Yelp
I need the manage to call me and apologize since they forgot my order and didn't even have the audacity to fix it!

Yelp
I love the unique pie selection. Delivery is always super fast and get quality. It's a nice change up from some of the other brick oven pizzas in the area.

Yelp
When I want to treat myself, Rustique is one of the places I regularly order from. On Grubhub they never mess up the order and their ingredients taste fresh; pizza made from scratch just for you. The mozzarella is the fresh kind, not the packaged dry one. The tomato sauce has that subtle sweetness and tartness typical of tomatoes; they either make their own sauce or they must be using a high quality ready made sauce. They use fresh basil to top off their margherita pizza and you can add more toppings at an additional charge. However, they really nailed the margherita as it is. It is even better than the ones in Italy. The flavor is intense and real. Each slice fills you up with content, with joy, without the feeling that you ate junk food. It just doesn't taste like junk food. Doesn't have that "vibe" of the 99 cents "on the go" pizza slices that have been chilling on the counter for days. Thank you Rustique for the gift of being in business.
google avatar

Kiyana B.

Yelp
We typically order: * Veggie pizza * Sausage & broccoli rabe pizza * Pig wings Regarding the pizza, I'm very pleased with the ratio of bread, tomato and cheese. It's the perfect balance of ingredients and the sausage and broccoli rabe pie is very flavorful. The pig wings are delicious - a must try. All in all, this is a reliable pizza spot and much better than other pizza places I have tried in the area (e.g., Razza, Two Boots, Helen's)
google avatar

Roger M.

Yelp
Meat lovers and Marguerite pizzas were delicious and priced well for the area. Bring your own wine. This is worth a visit for sure.

Vahbiz K.

Yelp
The pizza is awesome! I've never carried out or dined in and been disappointed with the food. Truly JC's best pizza! However, you'd be wise check your bill before you swipe. Yesterday we were billed an additional $6 because the server charged our order as two small pizzas instead of one large, and then there's an additional fee if you're using a credit card.

Yelp
REVIEW FOR DOUGH NOT RESTAURANT/PIZZERIA That being said. Has become my de facto place to get pizza dough to make my own at home. Their dough seems to be perfect for pizza at home
google avatar

Tony J.

Yelp
I ordered a Marc pizza with sausage, hot cherry pepper, and onions, with extra cappicola. The toppings form a great combination, with just the right amount of tomato sauce and cheese. The crust is thin and the combination of cheese and dough create a light, springy texture.
google avatar

Giorgio D.

Yelp
In my opinion, this place has the best pizza in Jersey City. However, it also has the worst customer service in Jersey City. Order this pizza if you don't care what time you eat. Avoid this restaurant if you require reliability regarding what time you need your food for a family meal or with guests. Wait time - pretty common to wait an extra hour to hour and a half over the time they say it will be ready. Order accuracy - Double check your order since they make frequent mistakes. Customer service - extremely rude workers. You will get your pizza when they get to it. They always say it will be ready in 15 minutes, but can be 1.5 hours from the time they initially promised. Pizza - great! Only reason they earn 2 stars!
google avatar

Pirouz B.

Yelp
We've order food at Rustique a few times. The pizzas are OK but the delivery experience has always been underwhelming. They're very late and the food comes in cold and soggy by the time it's delivered.

Sally T.

Yelp
Light and crispy crust. Tried the Margherita, white, the frank and the one with hot honey. All were pretty good (I'm not a pizza person btw)
google avatar

Nilofer M.

Yelp
The only reason I'll give 3 stars is because of the flavor. BUT last night I ordered pickup to prevent my large Kathy pizza and garlic bread with cheese becoming soggy (since it's quicker than delivery) and it came exactly soggy and undercooked. They both tasted great but the cheese on the garlic bread wasn't even melted or put into the oven..and the bottom of the pizza wasn't crispy at all. I'll give this spot another chance when we hopefully get to dine in or outdoors again..but highly disappointed.
