While staying in Topic we were advised by the office staff at our stay of a few restaurants near by and after checking reviews we noticed there weren’t many amazing options…or so we thought. Nite this is more comfort dining and less fine dining but the food was delicious. Everything was fresh, seemingly locally sourced. The service was quick and they offered access to WiFi since the town has little cell service. Quick run down: we were promptly greeted and seated then given a pitcher of water and two glasses. Our waitress came by shortly and offered some suggestions. The salads were fresh and the raspberry vinaigrette was tasty. My wife enjoyed the fried shrimp with sweet potato fries while I devoured the rainbow trout. It was very lightly seasoned allowing the natural flavors of the fish to shine. I had the seasoned fries as a side. To complete the meal we shared the blueberry pie. Thank you for providing quality food options and quick service!

Don’t write very many reviews but when you find an amazing hole in the wall you have two. My wife and I got two dinners and shared so we could try more things. All of the sides were delicious and tasted like a country style potluck where everyone brought their signature best side (baked beans, corn biscuit, gravy) The rainbow trout was the best I’ve had and definitely a must if you only get one thing. The Dutch oven chicken dinner was great with the sauce and potatoes Overall very happy

We were very pleasantly surprised by this gem. Located in a touristy area with limited options this proved to have _great_ service and very tasty food. I had the burrito which had moist and flavorful filling and sauce. The rice and beans were tasty as well. My wife had the burger - it was a solid performer but not over the top.

During our stay in the Bryce Canyon/Tropic Utah area, my wife and I ate at Rustler's Restaurant several times. We enjoyed hamburgers and fries but it was very good. The place just felt friendly and comfortable. If we are ever in Tropic again, we will definitely stop by Rustler's.

Not bad here. I got the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. It was a bit lacking in flavor but it was decent enough. A little high priced for the offerings. For some reason their sodas had no CO2 so no fizz. Even after they switched out the canister. The waitress was great.

Google
2nd best place to eat in tropical. Large portions and great service. We had the southwest chicken, baked potatoes, beans, soda salad and vegetables. The potatoes was huge, also a very generous serving of vegetables. Beans were cowboy beans and had a nice smoke flavor.

My girlfriend and I spent the 4th of July weekend in Bryce Canyon, UT. On 7/5, we went hiking at mossy cave trail and decided to find a restaurant nearby for breakfast. This is what brought us to Rustlers Restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the hateful energy was perceived, but I am one to give people the benefit of the doubt and also a chance to correct their behavior. When we arrived we sat in the waiting area waiting to be sat or even just greeted for more than 5 min the hostess walked past made eye contact with my girlfriend but still did not greet us, shortly after an older white man walked in he was immediately greeted and sat she then returned and asked us if we had been helped which was a pretty redundant question since you watched us sit here and new you didn’t help us but like I said I gave her the benefit of the doubt maybe she got busy? She sat us at our table and another server came to greet us and take our order she was very pleasant and I wish I got her name because I don’t want this review in anyway to reflect on her we later found out she was the acting manager so if that helps you identify her know that she was kind and her service was perfectly acceptable however this other server/hostess acted disgustingly our entire visit. After our server(manager) brought our drinks I forgot to ask for straws so when server(hostess) walked by I asked her for the straws she made eye contact with me as I asked but didn’t reply and kept walking so I wasn’t sure if she heard my request but she did in fact come back with the straws set them on the table without a word, I thanked her although she probably didn’t even hear me because she walked away as quickly as she dropped the straws to us. Weird behavior for someone in service, but again, I let it slide. Maybe she’s just in a hurry. After we finished our meal and paid our check my girlfriend noticed I hadn’t finished my drink I suggested we take it to go, I waited for our server(manager) but server(hostess) passed by first so I asked her for a to go cup she nodded and went to the back, when she returned she had plates of food for her table but no cup, no problem her hands were full right? She went to the back again and then returned to another table to close out their check, still no cup. She left and returned again to clear their table, no cup. She left returned again with cleaning supplies to clean the table, and she cleared still no cup. At this point I’m thinking surely she forgot so after she wiped the table I called out to her politely and said “excuse me” she made eye contact I began to say “ we asked you for a to go cup not sure if you forgot” but I couldn’t not finish my sentence because while I spoke and held her eye contact she continued to walk away and ignore me. That is when I could no longer make excuses for her behavior, and I got up to look for the manager. Her behavior and attitude were beyond nasty. I am unsure if her issue with us was that we were BLACK or that we were GAY. Regardless, the reason this is who is employed at Rustlers Restaurant, DO NOT EAT HERE THIS IS NOT A SAFE OR WELCOMING PLACE.

Very nice place! The food was excellent and the host Asaias was able to accommodate us with a nice avocado toast with two eggs. He was really helpful and very pleasant. The atmosphere was good and the music was great too. I talked to the chef and he was very nice and I wanted to thank him for the food I recommend to go there more than Ruby’s in the park! 🥰😍

Yelp
We visited the area back in March 2025. Was the only thing open when we got into town late. Worried that the lack of choices at that time was a bad sign, but the food was excellent and the serving sizes were nice. Looked like a favorite of the locals. Nice friendly people. Thank you for a great meal!

Yelp
We have the same server Renee Sam who seem to be the only server yet our food came quite fast. We stayed at Clear Sky Resort and this is the closest restaurant we can find. Food was nothing extra ordinary as it is standard american as you can find in the "desert" but serving was ample and tasty. Overall, I will recommend.

Yelp
Hearty, but very uninspired fare. The prices were a bit jaw-dropping---$18 for a chicken quesadilla?! Given that this is a small town in the middle of a wilderness area, I can accept that prices are elevated, but be forewarned. The menu is limited (maybe a half-dozen options) and the fare is all over the place (Western, Mexican, ribs, burgers). My steak was tasty, if a bit chewy, and the broccolini was excellent, but the baked potato was hard and nearly inedible. There seemed to be a lone employee running the entire operation, working the host desk, taking orders, cooking food and washing dishes! He was friendly and hardworking, but overwhelmed by the work. Stop here for a filling, home cooked meal, but definitely temper your expectations.

Yelp
We were on our way to Bryce Canyon and this was one of the options outside of the park for lunch. We were seated right away and the restaurant was not busy. Our server was very attentive. I got the chicken caesar salad and it was alright. My chicken was a bit overcooked, but the dressing and rest of the salad was good. Coffee was tasty. There is only one bathroom available so when it gets busy I'm sure it could be a little annoying.

Yelp
The most amazing Philly cheese steak, and seasoned fries! Chips and salsa were also an awesome appetizer for hungry hikers. We love this place!! Service was great and so was the ambiance.

Yelp
Staying in Tropic, UT we were able to walk to the restaurant. So many items to choose from. Wife had the alfredo, said it was the best she's ever had (and she has eaten a lot of pasta). Had the country fried steak, loved the country gravy on it, you get 2 sides with it as well. Subanna, our server was very pleasant and gave us great service.

Yelp
This is a solid place for a good meal. Clean and staff is friendly and helpful. We started with Fried Green Beans which were my favorite of everything! So crispy and the green beans were tender yet not overcooked. My husband ordered Chicken Quesadilla which was a huge portion and quite tasty! There was plenty of chicken in the oooey gooey cheese! My Cheeseburger and Onion RIngs really hit the spot. Nice medium sear on the burger and still juicy. Onion rings were crispy rings with actual onions inside. Great experience and good food!

Yelp
Great service and we never had a half full drink. We had the chicken fried steak and it was good.

Yelp
This is your middle of nowhere, extensively varied, with a voluminous menu, pretty darn decent cooking, a very spacious setting, super friendly staff place for eats - of almost anything you desire! Considering there's pretty much nowhere else to go, we must say, their offerings are good, no, very good. The selections run the gamut for everyone in the family, from typical American to BBQ, from Pastas to Mexican, from steak to sea food, just to mention a few. Oh, did I mention beer and wine? We stopped in for breakfast recently while visiting Bryce Canyon National Park and found it to hit just the right spot for our hunger pangs. I had a well-prepared Ham and Cheese Omelet on the requested soft with Hash Browns, great hash browns and a fabulous Sourdough bread and my wife enjoyed her Ham and Cheese Omelet well done also with Hash Browns and but with Rye Bread. Fab! This is an eats joint way out yonder that you can actually count on for a great meal. No need for a fast-food joint around here. This is most definitely a recommended place for victuals when in the area.

Yelp
Everything was perfect! The staff, the food, the service and decor! Everything was cooked perfectly! Best stop by far on this roadtrip!

Craig S.

Yelp
I highly recommend this restaurant! Food was delicious. The atmosphere is great and the waitress was perfect! Nice change from the restaurants in Bryce Canyon City and much better. No wait
google avatar

Yelp
The breakfast food was good anyway. Fresh eggs, crispy bacon, real blueberries and butter with whipped cream on the waffle. Hash browns cooked in butter. Good omelet per the hubs. Waiter helped someone that came in after us but welcomed them back so probably regulars. Not a big deal. Tin walls, country music but it wasn't too loud. Good coffee. Decent prices. Good all around diner type experience.

Yelp
Expensive, but so is just about everything out here. We had BLT's, fries and a drink. About $60, with tip, It was ok tasting, but I literally had 1.5 pieces of bacon on that sandwich . Staff was very nice, only reason they rated more than one star.

Yelp
In Tropic for 1 night and had dinner. The food was really good and the service was wonderful. Came back for Breakfast and was served by Renee. Again, wonderful service!

Yelp
We ate here two nights in a row. First night was great. Second left a lot to be desired. On both visits, the food was great -- flavorful, hot, and prompt. On both visits the ambiance was good. It's rustic but nice. The problem was service. If you get Lisa as your server, you're in good hands. Thoughtful, optimistic, friendly, and even helped with suggestions for where to go for sights. The second evening, though, was the pits! No one was at the front and a line began to form. We saw a waitress walk by 5 times without stopping or even acknowledging the people waiting. Each time she looked right at us -- no smile, no apology for the absence of hostess, no comment-- just looked at us and kept going. She must've said something, though because after a while a young girl came and just started to seat folks... again, no "sorry for the wait." We were first and she walked us back to a table right next to the kitchen-- a bit noisy and we had wanted to talk. I asked if we could go farther back away from the kitchen noise. She said "No. We are on sections." I turned and gestured to the more than 10 tables sitting vacant and ready for diners and said, "So, none of these tables are available?!?!" I couldn't believe her response, "No. They're not." WHAT?? I dutifully swallowed my next thought, sat down and composed this review. She proceeded to seat every person, couple, and family that followed us back to those same tables. None were reservations. All were walk-ins. And the waitress was rather brusque. I almost told the little girl to find Lisa and ask her to teach her how to deal with diners. Instead, we just ate, left a tiny tip in case it was divided among hostess and waitress, left and won't return. NOT recommended-- unless you demand Lisa's section.

Yelp
This is a locally owned and operated small business with attentive staff and good food. We stopped in for late lunch after a day out hiking and enjoyed fresh sandwiches. It was quiet, clean and had a variety of choices on the menu. Since there were not many people, we had great service. Generous portions so we could share and not pricey for lunch. Rustler's was a good find!

John M.

Yelp
Unexpectedly good! Went back twice while visiting Bryce Canyon National Park. Friendly and efficient service. I had the ribs one time and a chicken burrito the second time. Both were great! Blueberry pie for desert was a treat. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Best cheeseburger we've had while National Park hopping in Utah. Renee our server was nice and made us feel super welcomed. Take the 10 min drive to Tropic for food while staying in Bryce, it's MUCH better!!

Maya V.

Yelp
Service was awesome!! Renee was very attentive and wished us safe travels. Food hit the spot and was super quick! We will be coming back again!!!
google avatar

Janis R.

Yelp
A bit pricey for breakfast. One server was very good. The second server, a girl, was rude when we came in. Eggs cooked to order good. Biscuits and gravy good but not great. My husband says " ordinary"

Yelp
On our way across the way to Bryce Canyon National Park after we were side-slammed by a large deer, and forced us to spend the night in Bicknell, Utah. Got an early start so we're ready for gas and lunch at Tropic, Utah. Spotted Rustlers and decided to break for lunch. Waited several minutes by the "Wait to be seated" sign before a server noticed us. Left with water and menus, we glanced over the menu. We would have preferred breakfast but were about 30 minutes past their breakfast menu. My wife opted for the Burrito, no surprise there. I was in the mood for fish so I chose the Fish & Chips special. We had about 20 minutes to go over our planned visit to Bryce. We had also planned to visit Zion National Park but the deer hit and ensuing actions (Highway Patrol, garage to bend fender from wheel, and calls to car rental, auto insurance & credit card) forced us to cancel Zion and head to Las Vegas to swap rental car. Food came. My wife was pleased with her burrito meal. My fish was ok, just that it was apparently formed and frozen fish patties. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch when we arrived in Torrey, UT. The restaurant has a western themed dining room and the menu options trend towards that theme. With that in mind everyone at our table ordered hamburgers. The meal was good and the service was friendly and attentive. I ended up returning later that night for a piece of pie as a take out. If you're in Torrey this restaurant is worth a visit.

Yelp
Good fuel for the day It was breakfast time before heading out to Bryce Canyon, and we saw on Yelp Rustler's serves breakfast. Perfect. It is a nice looking place from the outside, like many of the places in Tropic. The restaurant is fairly large, lots of wood, I'm liking the western rustic looks. For breakfast I decided on their Country Fried Steak & Eggs, which came with some pale hashbrowns. The food was very good, a generous amount of sausage gravy topping my steak. The portion size was plenty. It was a good meal to get me going. Service was slow, and that is the only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars. We were anxious to get started on our visit to Bryce Canyon and the meal just seemed to drag on and on. I had emptied my coffee cup and had to wait for more. Service should have been sharper, the kitchen quicker. I'm also not a fan putting single serve jelly and wrapped butter pads on top of my food.
google avatar

Ray S.

Yelp
We went to dinner early as there aren't too many places to eat at near Bryce Canyon. Our service was a little slow for being early 5PM. My wife ordered a burger and she said it was fine. It came with an onion ring and a side salad. My wife asked if she could have a few more rings and she was charged for an onion ring side. The dressing was a watery blue cheese. I ordered a Rib-eye steak with the same side salad and a baked potato as a side. My steak was overdone and tough. It was one of those restaurant steaks that are used for chicken fried steak as it was the same size and taste. Oh well not many choices.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Ok food. Large portions and all but that doesn't matter if it's subpar. The BBQ chicken was dry as heck. The quesadillas were decent and the pasta was good. Service was ok. It I've never been served ribs before without extra napkins or wet naps. Meh.
google avatar

Yelp
We had breakfast and dinner here. cute and clean place with friendly staff. our food was hot and delicious,
google avatar

Mishi M.

Yelp
The server Renee is awesome. Food comes in hot and well flavored. Honestly the best diner restaurant in the town. They have amazing and variety of meals. We came in for breakfast. The only con i can think of is they do not have cold brew/iced coffee. Which is kind of important to have as an option for visitors visiting the desert. The vibe inside is clean and all the condiments ready in every table. 10/10 would eat here again if i'm in the area!
google avatar

Vickie O.

Yelp
We thought this was the best place in town. It has something for everyone. We enjoyed 2 lunches and a breakfast there. The food was tasty and above all, the people were extremely friendly. Fun atmosphere with a western decor. Everything clean and everyone there works hard to be sure you have what you need. Very gracious.
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Local cowboy restaurant. Good variety of steaks. Try the BBQ if you want an alternate from their steaks. A market is connected to the restaurant, making it easy to grab supplies. A gas station is also available.
google avatar

Al R.

Yelp
We got into Tropic at around 2:00 pm on a Sunday. There few restaurants in this town and we walked into this one as we needed to get some things from the attached market. The restaurant was empty. We got seated right away. The lunch menu is quite extensive with salads, burgers, Mexican dishes and specials. My partner got a hamburger. The burger was juicy and satisfying. The seasoned fries were hot and tasty. I got the fish and fries basket. The fish was crispy with a tender flaky flesh. The server was pleasant and attentive. The place is clean with western motif Recommend this place.
google avatar

Mahlia R.

Yelp
We went here twice for breakfast during our trip to Bryce Canyon national Park. Renee was absolutely great both times. He even remembered our order on the second day. Both our kids had waffles with heaping piles of whip cream and could not have been more thrilled. Service was fast, efficient, and super friendly.
google avatar

Leslie H.

Yelp
Woke up really early in Kanab, UT and drove to Bryce National Park to hike a bit. Everything outside of Bryce seemed a bit seedy plus had a lot of negative reviews. Wait, seedy isn't the correct work--seemed a bit touristy, like just get the people through the lines sort of places. I stopped at this great little place and ordered the biggest breakfast they had. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff was super efficient and friendly. Plus, a nice little store right next to the cafe.
google avatar

Jean T.

Yelp
We were in the mood for some serious protein. We ordered a full slab of pork ribs and shared it between the two of us, along with a salad and a loaf of bread. It was a very satisfying full meal after a day of hiking. It's interesting to find a rib joint that also serves Mexican dishes. Most diner we saw ordered ribs or steaks. Overall a positive experience; if we're in the area again, we would try one of their reasonably priced steaks.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
A family friendly place where the service is warm and the food is plentiful and tasty. On a 5 night trip we ate here twice because of the service and it's convenience to our lodging and grocery store.
google avatar

Kapo K.

Yelp
Food was alright, it's what I would expect from a standard breakfast place. But there was a clear shortage of staffs. It took a long time to order and pay. I was in a hurry so the whole experience just made me anxious. But once again. No complaints on the food.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food; huge portions; wide menu variety. Friendly staff. Free parking. Family friendly.

Yelp
I am so glad we did not let the 3.5 star review keep us from driving to "Rustlers" in Tropic, just a sort 12 minute drive from Bryce Canyon! Yes we came for Bryce Canyon, but we will return tomorrow night for the steak at Rustlers! I enjoyed the mushroom burger and this was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted!! Visit Bryce Canyon yes! It was my first visit; it is breathtaking and magnificent! But mosey on down to Rustlers for the best meals in the lovely town of Tropic! Oh and ask for Sandy, she is delightful!!

Marty O.

Yelp
Food was good. service was super slow. they did not understand that you needed a fork and knife to eat. Sauvignon Blanc came out in a mimosa glass. ordered half rack of ribs. They brought a full. delicious tho, thus the 2 stars. I'm not seeing good hospitality at hotels and restaurants in southern Utah. sad to see.
google avatar

Louis M.

Yelp
Very large menu with a good variety of choices. The six people in our party all agreed that the food was good. The portions are huge. You will not leave hungry.

Louise F.

Yelp
Locally owned and operated. Our party of 4 enjoyed the trout, ribs and rib eye. All were tasty cooked as ordered and dinner salads were cold and fresh. We eat here a few times a year rather than the tourist establishments. Save room for a delicious waffle cone ice cream in the same place.

Riley R.

Yelp
We experienced great customer service here at Rustler's! Great food and they even extended breakfast by 30 minutes because my husband wanted breakfast! Very sweet of them and would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Selena N.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat and it was after 5 and we were hungry. Limited choices. Ended up here. The only good thing about the mean I had was the Porter beer. The waitress serving us was really busy but she seemed to me to be bored with her job, or unhappy. Not the most friendly service. I ordered the wild mushroom pesto pasta and a small side salad. Where were the mushrooms through?!? Why an inch think of olive oil and pesto at the bottom?!? It was a bit gross to me. The salad was ok for where we were, but a lot of water was at the bottom in the bowl. I appreciate clean greens, I do, but I had to pour out excess water into my pasta bowl to show him how much excess that there was. My boyfriend ordered a chicken sandwich and got chicken slabs over lettuce. They goofed his order but he was okay without the bread on the end. This place is not great but it does offer a variety of choices to eat and we were full upon leaving. I just didn't eat the whole mess completely. I left about half of it. The Porter beer, to end on a positive note, was good.

MJ

Yelp
Everything was delicious and well made, service was nice and we were seated and served quickly, and the music isn't too loud but isn't too quiet as well. My only complaint is that the egg whites were a little bit runny, but overall this is a very good restaurant.
google avatar

Hannah C.

Yelp
This restaurant mid to say the least. The staff is nice but the food is simply not anything special. I got the Pasta for 18$ and it was just noodles with marinara sauce. I could have made that on my own stove for a fraction of the price. They also put carrots in the pasta along with broccoli that weren't even cooked. I'm talking literal sliced carrots you buy in a cold grocery section out of a bag. The broccoli was hard as well. Maybe other things on the menu are good, but definitely don't get the $18 pasta.
google avatar

Yelp
My BLT on sourdough toast w side salad was delish! Love the blue cheese dressing and fresh greens. Great service! Friendly staff.

Angela T.

Yelp
Very good! We had stuffed croissant sandwich which was delicious, a pancake also delicious and the traditional breakfast. Very good. Renee was our server. He was fast and friendly. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Nothing special, only ended up here due to poor choices in Bryce Canyon area. It wasn't bad, just not anything spectacular. Service was good, staff was very friendly.

Simonette R.

Yelp
If I can give zero stars, I would. We drove 9 miles from Bryce just to eat here and it left a very bad taste in our mouth - literally and figuratively. First of all, it was not busy when we got there and yet, we were seated at the very back of the restaurant and did not get any service for a very long time. In fact, there was another party that got seated after us and their orders were taken before us. No one looked our way to check on us. We had to make several attempts to flag somebody to ask for our waitress to come and get our orders. We were so hungry and we waited a long time for our food to come, and when it did, one order was missing. The waitress did not apologize and said that her coworker did not "put in" the order and nobody told her. Shouldn't it be her responsibility to double check that all orders were placed? So we had to wait for another 20 minutes for the remaining order to arrive. When it did, she still did not apologize for the inconvenience nor did she attempt to offer anything or reduce the bill as service recovery. And when the bill came, she had the audacity to ask for 18% tip as the lowest range. By the way, the food is disappointing. I ordered the pesto with chicken and the best part of my meal was the garlic bread. My friend ordered pork ribs and another friend ordered the quarter chicken and they were both very dry and lacked flavor. The salmon that came late was also dry and not worth the money or the wait. So spare yourself the hassle of driving and eating here. You will come away still hungry, disappointed, and aggravated.
