Where to Find the Best Restaurants in Downtown Decatur and Decatur Square | Eater Atlanta

"A small window-style counter serving Korean barbecue tacos topped with house-made kimchi; popular choices include the spicy pork or tofu tacos, and the kimchi garnish is highlighted as a digestive-friendly accompaniment; note that the spot is closed on Saturdays and Sundays." - Beth McKibben

The cashier Chasity had great customer service greeting me at the door and helped me with my order. Mariah was great help as well she explained the menu to me , Kiera has amazing customer service she was very nice and made everyone laugh. And Teronte made my meal excellent! It was bomb !

Family friendly restaurant. Extremely clean including bathroom. The tacos are loaded. My husband enjoyed the Rusty Taco - sweet and heat combo- the most. Our kids did not like the chicken quesadillas and tots. Nice assortment of salsa with great flavors.

Google
Rusty Taco has the best frozen margarita in Decatur for sure! 💜 The brisket breakfast taco was tender and flavorful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I will absolutely be adding this place to my rotation! 😍

It's unfortunate that this taco place didn't turn out the way I thought it was going to. I got the supreme nachos, the cheese was very "stadium ball park" nacho cheese, and there was a large black hair in my food. The cashier gave me a refund and was apologetic about it, but not sure I'll be visiting this place frequently. It's also a bit overpriced for the type of food.

There aren't many options for fast casual Tex Mex in Atlanta. You have Torchy's on the west side, or Rusty's. I much prefer Rusty's. The flour tortillas are nice and fresh, the meats are generally good quality (some better than others), and in my experience Rusty's doesn't use the gross pre-shredded cellulose-filled cheese that Torchy's puts on everything. The downside is the subpar and inconsistent customer experience: 1) Online ordering doesn't work 50% of the time. 2) When it does work, picking it up requires talking to the cashier. (Often interrupting conversation with customers placing in-house orders, which just feels awkward and rude.) 3) The online orders shelf now seems to be used as a storage space for cleaning products. 4) Once when I walked to Rusty's they were closed since their POS just didn't work at all. 5) The salsas are in bottles with very thin nozzles, requiring you to take the cap off to really pour any salsa. The Sunrise Slammer is a really solid breakfast burrito. I really enjoyed it, and it's hard to think of a more delicious breakfast burrito in the area. The only contender is Poco Loco, which for me is still #1. As far as tacos, I really enjoyed the brisket taco. I have not had the BBQ brisket taco as I find BBQ sauce generally overpowering when used outside of proper BBQ. I would skip the seafood tacos. Nothing special. Superica reigns supreme in Atlanta for Tex Mex, but Rusty's js a fantastic option for a quick and much cheaper lunch.

I love me some tasty steak tacos any day of the week😋🌮🌮🌮 I stumbled on this newly opened gem and let me say their steak tacos are a home run.. since I had a hour drive I didn’t have the tortillas cooked I toasted them when I got home and they were so fresh and tasty 🤤 Ms. Patrice was very accommodating and accurate with my food thanks bunch I’ll definitely be back to try the chicken tacos 😀 maybe tomorrow see you guys 🔜

I'm a big taco fan, and have been to almost every taco restaurant in the greater Decatur area, so I was super excited to try a new place. I was super disappointed when I left. We ordered 6 different tacos, and 4 of them were too bad to even eat the whole thing. Lastly, we made a couple of special requests to accommodate a food allergy in our 6 year old kid. It took the staff 3 tries to serve her a plate with no cheese. They were kind and apologetic about it. 1 mistake is forgivable, but the same mistake twice is not. But hey the chips were good. P. S. The ceiling is weird.

Let me tell you about my experience with this place, I’m a resident who lives above the restaurant and this business has blatantly tolerated a squatter living right in front of the restaurant for MONTHS (If you’ve been here in the past few months you know EXACTLY who I’m talking about) This squatter screams profanities and other nonsense (even racist comments) at all times during the day and even at 5 in the morning EVERY DAY. The blame ultimately falls on the business owner(s) for letting this squatter take over the bench right outside their doors and tolerate their outbursts for all these months, not caring about the people who live in the complex right above who are held hostage to their inaction and unhelpful law enforcement.

Yelp
I like that they say ur name and say it's taco time. I came to celebrate national margarita day, and they did half off house margaritas. It's a spacious taco spot with some high chair bar seats, booths, and center tables. I got the dynamite shrimp taco in corn tortilla, and it was delicious. The flavor profile had a presence, but it could have been stronger or had a kick to it. Before I knew it, my taco was gone lol.

Yelp
I've been slow in getting this review together, so bad on me for being lazy. This location had a coming soon sign up for a while, so I couldn't wait to try this place when it finally opened. Got the taco trio (don't look for this one, they don't offer it anymore). Got the BBQ Brisket, Cheeseburger & steak fajita tacos. Sad to say, I only liked the BBQ Brisket one. At $6 per taco for the small "street-sized" tacos, you get I can't say this was worth it. I'll be surprised if this location lasts too long.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. The workers were nice, and the place seemed spacious. I didn't stay to eat. I ordered the Philly taco which was soooooo good! Seasoned well. I also got the fried shrimp tacos. They were okay. The cabbage on there added a great crunch to it. The queso isn't a white queso but it was good anyways. The chips are thin, crispy and salty just how I like it. I didn't take a picture because I was too busy eating lol . Either way, I will be back.

Yelp
Great food but the tacos are better described as "taco sliders" because they're tiny. On my second visit I tried the taco bowl. It's a better deal than the tacos. And it's quite good. The rice is pleasantly sticky. Ingredients fresh and tasty. Rice and black bean sides ($2 each) are like the tacos. Tasty but tiny. You get more bang for your buck at Chipotle. But this place is tastier and it has a nice looking bar.

Yelp
2nd visit. Ordered the Birria Tacos again. They were terrible. Too greasy and tasteless and the tortillas were burned. The Consume was a container of grease. The Ultimate Margarita was bitter. I don't think I will be back, but might actually try something else if I come back next time. Zip on the Margarita. 3 times the charm right.

Yelp
We were the only people in the restaurant so I'm not sure why everything was bad. The gentleman who greeted us was not pleasant. Ordered a beer and 2 tacos without cilantro. Took over 5 minutes to get the beer (which is served in an acrylic glass. C'mon--get glass, not plastic!) then the tacos arrived stuffed with cilantro. He never checked back with us nor did he give us glasses for water--he just pointed to somewhere and said 'waters over there.' Tacos were nothing special. Too many taco joints in Decatur for this to last.

Yelp
Food was great and the people working there were very nice. Wish we had one at the beach. Queso, street corn and tacos! Highly recommend!

Yelp
this taco costs over $6 Literally looks nothing like any of the pictures online, both the tacos ordered looked exactly like this. you could get better food at taco bell for a quarter of the price

Yelp
Had the combo and enjoyed it . Healthy portions. Lots of choices. Will be back. Clean interior. Nice staff.

Yelp
WOW - first time - had a Veggie Fajita Taco - really the best I have ever had. And no, I have no connections to the business - just dropped in to eat.........Will certainly be going back...... Also, great people.

Yelp
Delicious and fresh. To those naysayers on here. These are fresh well built gringo style tacos. Choose of corn or flour ( a more American thing). I opted for corn ( authenticity) and I have to say that as a taco lover and Latina my worst enemy is a crumbly tortilla or a stiff one. These tortillas didn't fall apart like some people say on another review. The tortilla held up without being too soft or too stiff. Also, the portion is adequate for a taco, as you can see with your own eyes on the pictures. The dynamite shrimp taco had this absolute crispy crunch that made my mouth dance for glory. The Brisket was butter like and the bbq was just enough to give it a little sweetness and tanginess. The service ( Miss Gaby) was genuinely one of the best servers I have had in a long time friendly, positive, knowledgeable and super attentive. The ambiance is family fun style, bold colors but not over the top. Full bar on tap, the margaritas are delicious. I will be a regular. #tacoafficionado

Yelp
Tre was great - Saturday hot day in Decatur - beverages are key! Will be back to try Taco Tuesday

Yelp
Great addition to Decatur. We will return. Food was tasty and the service meet out expectations.

Yelp
Leon greeted us with a warm smile. He was very attentive and made great recommendations from the menu. In addition to the welcome, Leon made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. These days, It's rare to come across great service. When you go, ask for Leon!!!

Yelp
I don't have anything negative to say about the staff. The food is horrible. I tried on two occasions. I had the Baja shrimp taco and brisket taco on corn tortillas. The tacos were thin, flimsy and flavorless. The tacos aren't full and they fall apart. My second visit I tried the street corn, guacamole and cilantro lime rice. All three were terrible. The street corn wasn't hot or fresh and flavorless. The guacamole was probably the worst I had from a restaurant, it's not fresh. The guacamole tastes commercialized. The cilantro lime rice was dry, flavorless and it came from a box not fresh at all. The precooked cilantro lime rice in the grocery store taste better. I only enjoyed the chips.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting rusty taco and Madison did a great job helping me decide what I wanted to order. She kept a smile on her face even though I was getting on her nerves. Great job Madison! You need a raise !

Yelp
Awesome BBQ Brisket Nachos! We made a happy face! Best nacho chip ever! Absolutely perfect! BBQ Sauce was delicious! Queso a little thin, but tasty and heated! Too spicy hot for one of us! Great drinks! Madison and DeVon excelled in their professionalism and knowledge of the menu! They made great recommendations and even provided generous Queso tasting! Both had excellent manners and were eager to help as needed. Very clean restaurant. Validated our deck parking. Very easy to access.

Yelp
I think the tacos here are great, and 2-3 are a meal. The salsa/cheese dip/guac with chips for under 10$ is a great deal too. I'm a believer.
