As the President of an HOA in North Dallas, a resident recommended that I look to get Ruthies into the HOA during the quarantine. I checked out the menu, and it looked great. I worked with Robin, and we were able to quickly setup the event.
The reaction from the neighborhood was overwhelming excitement. I think everyone, like me, was excited to get out of the house, get some hot fresh food, without having cold cuts again, or getting delivery.
Due to the virus, they implemented a new procedure. You order on-line, select a time for pickup, and then arrive, pickup your bag on the table, and leave, "contactless" ordering as they called it.
So the day of the event came, and there was a good turnout. From what I have heard from residents, an overwhelming majority of the residents were pleased with the event.
Now, truthfully, with their new business model due to the corona virus, and the "social distancing", everything did not go as planned. There was delays for a good amount of people, and there was some mistakes. Mine was personally missing the bacon. After the event, I relayed my concerned to Robin, and a representative reached out to me to apologize.
As I mentioned, they are initiating a new system, for the contactless ordering. As with any new system, there was some kinks. Ashlee reached out to me personally, explained what happen, and was very sorry, that not everyone was satisfied. She personally offered to take action to make this right for all of our residents (we're a pretty large HOA community).
During these trying times, all businesses are forced to change the way they do business to survive and keep their employees on the payroll. I am thankful that small business are doing things like this, because their success is critical to the success our our local communities.
Over all my years, I've learned to judge business not only by if there was a problem or not, but most importantly by how they rectify a problem if one occurs. There was some learning pains yesterday, and things were not perfect, however, the majority of the residents really enjoyed their lunch, even those that had to wait. With the problems, Ashlee promptly reached out to me to do anything she could to make this right for our residents, and she was sincere and apologetic.
In my book, that is a sign of a company doing the right thing. Correcting issues, and insuring that the problem is fixed. I don't know if all our residents will stop and try another sandwich, but as a Grilled Cheese Junkie, If I see a Ruthie's in the area, I will definitely be back to give them a second try. Ashlee's commitment to making it right earned my respect.
Thanks Ashley and Robin,
Both you guys stepped up to the plate, and your commitment to our community is appreciated. Best of luck during these challenging times. I can not begin to fully appreciate all of the issues facing small businesses during these challenging times.
Best Regards,
Stay Safe !
