"The Boston outpost of chain steakhouse Ruth’s Chris is in the Old City Hall building on School Street downtown. Private diners can even eat their steaks in the Old City Hall’s original vault, which is over 150 years old. What wonders — and secrets — were kept therein?" - Erika Adams, Terrence Doyle

Had a Solo date night at the Bar side on Monday 6/3/24. I was craving the Spicy Shrimp and it did not disappoint. The shrimp was Tasty to the last bite. I also ordered the Fries and a pomegranate margarita. The staff were friendly. Sally, the bartender was attentive and sweet and the manager for the night Sam made me feel welcome. The bar area was visually nice too. Perfect for a photo opp. I will return in the future.

If you’re looking for a high-end, “chain” steakhouse in the Financial District- you have to give Ruth’s Chris a visit. Ruth’s Chris is known for their signature steaks cooked to perfection with plenty of butter and served sizzling on a 500-degree plate. They’re also well known for their classic sides, like creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. You’ll also find a solid selection of appetizers and fresh seafood! We decided to stop in to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. We are not big fans of Turkey, we find it dry. So, I decided to visit the location inside of “Old City Hall”. The location is certainly unique and the architecture is absolutely stunning. The location is located right inside the main entrance of Old City Hall. The interior boasts gothic architecture and rich woods. We specifically booked our reservation for the main dining room. They do have a dining room in the front, back, as well as downstairs. We were seated relatively quickly. The hostesses seemed to have an issue pulling up and “confirming” our reservation, but this was fixed promptly and we were guided to our table. It was in the main rear dining room, as requested. It was a table for two and everything was set perfectly. We both decided to go with Ruth’s Classic Prix Fixe Menu. That comes with a starter- Caesar Salad, Steakhouse Salad, or Lobster Bisque. I opted for the steakhouse salad. The salad was crisp and fresh. The portion was also very generous. However, it lacked any “toppings”, for a lack of a better term. There were maybe two-three grape tomatoes halves. They also way overdid it on the red onion. I was lucky to find two-three mini croutons. They could certainly improve the salads. Next, you choose your choice of entree. They offer both surf and turf options. Given it was Thanksgiving, they also offered a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with oven-roasted turkey, stuffing, gravy, and more. We are not fans of turkey, but seeing it come out it was a good size portion and many folks had leftovers to take home with them. I decided to go with the 6-ounce filet and lobster tail. I opted for the Bleu Cheese “Crust” for a small up-charge. It is just right, it doesn’t overpower the flavor of the beef. My companion ordered the same, except they opted for the Truffle “Crust”. You also get a personal-size side of your choice. I do wish they offered all their sides as an option. However, you cannot go wrong with Ruth’s Creamed Spinach and Garlic Mashed Potatoes! The sides are large enough for two to share, in my opinion. To finish off the meal, you also get a personal-sized dessert! You typically would get a mini, traditional cheesecake. Given it was Thanksgiving, they offered mini Pumpkin Cheesecake. It is served with a small scoop of ice cream. We took ours to go. It was so-so. You can upgrade to a different dessert for an up-charge. Service was top-notch and our server was phenomenal. She ensured we had everything we needed and were completely satisfied. They are always ensuring your water is topped off and that the table is clean and tidy. For a high-end “chain”, the service is very attentive. The food was top-notch. The steaks were cooked perfectly, medium rare. They were flavorful, juicy, tender, and seasoned just-right. They came out with that signature sizzle on that 500-degree plate. If you’re looking for a consistent, reliable, high-end chain steakhouse in the financial district, I’d certainly suggest Ruth’s Chris.

This was our first time at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. We are celebrating our anniversary with a weekend in Boston and looked up local steakhouses and this one seemed like the right one. We made reservations then found out it was directly across from the hotel we were staying at (Omni Parker House- also would recommend) AND the restaurant is located in the old city hall! It’s gorgeous! We were greeted by such kind and welcoming staff and our server was sweet and charming. They knew we were celebrating our anniversary and went the extra mile to decorate our table and leave us an anniversary card. The food was amazing! Our steaks came out sizzling on our plates! So flavorful and cooked perfectly! We strongly recommend this place!

Disappointing Mother's Day 2024 lunch at Ruth's Chris. First of all the restaurant was cold. We were all bundled up to walk around the city and were still cold. We told staff but never really noticed a difference. We were in no real rush but neither was staff - water, bread and first round of took forever. It was not that busy when we arrived. Then things turned worse - we asked if crab stuffed mushrooms had "breading" in the stuffing (gluten intolerance for one of us) and waitress sad she would check and disappeared for 15 minutes. Then servers delivered apps that were clearly made with breaded stuffing. Another 10 minutes goes by and we finally see the waitress who assures us she "pushed the allergy button" when she put the order in and it shouldn't have allergens in it??? Wrong. Then another 5 minutes goes by, no waitress but a young manager comes over and apologizes, offers to replace it with something else, doesn't offer to remove them (which had to be requested). He started talking about the button being pushed which was funny to hear. Another 10 goes by before we see the waitress, who finally got around to taking out order. Entrees arrived, meat was good - it's supposed to be! Side lobster tail was cooked to oblivion...but we just sucked it up and tried not to spoil the occasion. Bottom Line: this Ruth's Chris location did not come close to delivering the experience they are known for and we paid for. There's a lot of places to spend $500 for lunch in Boston, Ruth's Chris Boston is no longer on that list for me.

What a wonderful experience! Took my first ever airplane ride and went to Boston. We walked into Ruth's Chris bar to have a few appetizers and beverages. Ended up staying a while because Salli made the entire experience even better! Can't wait to go back and visit her again. Thanks Salli - 5 STAR service and experience.

Finally made to Ruth’s Chris Steak House. The old building on School Street could use a little remodeling. I would definitely recommend sitting upstairs especially if you want a better ambiance, but the food was good the hot bread was fresh I think it had just came out the oven. My steak with lobster tail was perfect. Cooked just as ordered the mash potatoes was good, the spinach well I would pass on that. My cocktail was very light on the alcohol seem more like water down juice. I also ordered a hot Irish coffee that was room temperature but the service was good and food was good.

Yelp
I am not one to normally leave a review. This is actually my first on here, but my visit to Ruth's Chris in Old City Hall in Boston was one that deserves some praise. I brought 2 friends/colleagues here on Tuesday night after a big presentation at work that had us all in need of a drink and some steak! We were greeted by our server, Veronica who was very friendly and professional. When she asked if we had dined there before, 2 of us had and one had not. She gave our friend a quick but thorough walk through of the menu and warned her about the 500 degree plates! I'm so glad she did because I had forgotten to tell her about that part lol! We started out with cocktails to have with our appetizers and once we finished those, instead of only asking if we would like another cocktail, she asked if we would prefer a nice glass of red wine to accompany our steaks. I am not a huge wine drinker, but for some reason that sounded fantastic. I asked her for some guidance and after she asked me a few questions, she suggested a glass of Pinot Noir that I may like and even brought me a little sip so that I could be sure I liked it, and I definitely did. The food was absolutely delicious. The steaks, 3 Cowboy Ribeyes were all cooked to perfection and the 3 sides we ordered, the AuGratin Potatoes, Mushrooms and Brussels Sprouts were all amazing and enough to share! We also asked for more of the delicious warm bread and butter to enjoy with the meal! I will admit, I used to be a regular here, and the food had always been great, but I became accepting of the fact that the service standards were simply "ok" here. Not terrible, just not what you expect for the price you pay. Last night, they got it right! Attentive, but not overbearing service, clearing plates, replacing silverware and getting rid of the crumbs in between courses and when I had made a little bit of a saucy mess on the white table cloth, she came over with a white linen and laid it over the area so that we "wouldn't get it on our sleeves". The only thing that could use improvement is that when I go out to an expensive meal, I am used to having the food packaged for me. The busser came over with boxes and a single bag and asked if we wanted to pack the food ourselves. I didn't want to be rude so I said that was fine, but Veronica came over with a table side tray right away and packed it for us, and apologized, which was kind but not necessary. I should be better at asking for what I want! So glad to see the service is getting better here! I can't wait to return very soon!

Yelp
It's been ages since I've done restaurant week and I've never been to a Ruth's and Chris (I know! Where have I been?) I came here on a Friday and they had a $41 prix fix lunch which included an app, main and sides. The 6oz filet was so good, the shrimp not so much. It was too salty with the seasoning and the shrimp tasted frozen to me. I did order a lobster bisque for my app, and was told that there was no soup today. I only was told this after my mom finished her salad and the waitress came to pick her dish up and offered to get me a salad because they have no soup. Umm ok, then half way into my main, the waitress tells me, there's no ice tea so no Arnold Palmer. Fanfuckingtastic! Overall, the food was fine, but why did this location not have soup and ice tea? Not having one thing I ordered I can deal, but two, now I'm just annoyed. The filet was nice and buttery so the beef delivered. The salads were great and fresh. Overall, the lacking part was the service/communication. If there was no soup today, don't put it on the menu, just like the ice tea. The excuse I didn't know, doesn't cut it. Know what's available before people order.

Yelp
We have frequented Ruth Chris over the past 12 years at least 4 times a year. Today, our yraditional Mother's Day EXPERIENCE was AWFUL. Steak and lobster overcooked. Water glasses empty. Service terrible, waiter on his phone, no bread, kicker was when an overflowing trash barrel was dragged through dining room. No kidding! Bus person staccked dishes with our leftovers on top of one another smooshing the nearly ffull bowl of our granddaughter' s mashed potatoes. Then he grabbed her filet and threw it in tin foil, balled it up and tossed in take home bag. Our bill was $300 for 3 of us. No alcohal. Too high! Terrible! I guess they were sold to Olive Garden...it shows..but prices went up!! Last visit for us .sad..

Yelp
Interesting location for a steakhouse but I'm not complaining. The service was good and the steak was ok. I tried the lobster bisque and was underwhelmed, it was lukewarm and not as flavorful as I expected. I had high expectations due to it being in Boston. Overall their steaks are ok I've had better and it was my first time trying this franchise that I've heard a lot about.

Yelp
Food: ordered med well: steak cam well done waitress provided great service Hostess: had reservations at 7: hostess tried to seat us in the bar area, I told her we wanted the dining room. she said , let me check, we're real busty . I said I'm confused, i have a reservation, she said it's very busy , all of our rooms are booked. she sat us at a table near the busing area, she said you get the last table. not a good experience , she was rude

Yelp
Restaurant has a quality look and price although a male server overflowed my water glass he did not apologise or attempt to wipe the table cloth which was soaking wet covered in ice. I struggled to take a drink of water from the glass because it was so full. My wife's starter plate remained on the table after the main course had arrived even we asked for it to be removed. Coffee was served before our dessert and we had to ask fir cutlery for both coffee and desserts. A male server clearing tables was noisy and when redressing tables threw cutlery rather than placing correctly and made no effect to keep noise down showing no respect for existing customers. The resaurant staff requires supervision and not left to their own devices. Would we recommend NO Mike

Yelp
What a lovely experience to dine inside Boston's Old City Hall with my even lovelier mama! I would've been happy to eat anything inside the old city hall, but was even more thrilled to have Ruth's Chris! Filet & lobster here was the ultimate surf & turf meal :) mom and I were literally the only people dining for dinner around 4pm haha. We ordered the classic pre-fixe course, only, I upgraded my filet to 11oz and replaced the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach for asparagus instead lol. We started off with warm ciabatta and lobster bisque, which was surprisingly really delicious. One of the most flavorful lobster bisque versions I've ever had with chunks of lobster in it. Then came the filet & lobster with Ruth's signature 500 degrees sizzling plate with garlic butter. Loved every single bite! So glad we got asparagus instead of something heavy like creamed spinach bc I was soo full already. But we still had to pick dessert omg. Asked for whatever was the smallest dessert, which happened to be the cheesecake. Though we couldn't finish the cute dessert, overall our experience was 10 out of 10! Our waitress was so sweet and kind, and happened to share she's also from California! Lol... what are the odds that we r all Californians enjoying Boston. Haha our view happened to be the graveyard right next door, so if you don't mind the spookiness at night, I'd def recommend dining here for din din! We hope to be back! :)

Yelp
Absolutely Excellent food and if you can believe it, the service was better than the amazing food. Ashlind was a FANTASTIC server. Friendly and funny. There wasn't a single thing we didn't enjoy. Worth the price tag

Yelp
This review is based on our experience during restaurant week! We saw the deals happening for restaurant week, and to get a three course meal for less than the price of their filet normally, we had to jump at the chance. My birthday is also a few days away, so we figured why not jump at the chance. The staff was very friendly when we arrived, and the restaurant was very clean. When I mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday early, they donned the table with confetti and a happy birthday card. So sweet! We ordered a few drinks, but I want to definitely highlight the Gamblers Old Fashioned. My boyfriend ordered that and he said it was the best old fashioned he had in a long time. It had an air of sweetness to it that he thoroughly enjoyed. He couldn't stop mentioning how good it was, so I knew he was enjoying it. We started with a cauliflower/lentil soup, which is not normally on the menu. It came in a very small cup, but it was very tasty! It reminded me of a small cozy diner, where it was seasoned just right, while having a more rough organic texture/feel to it. We both ordered the filet, and paired them with a side of mashed potato, spinach and added an extra asparagus and blue cheese crust to my steak. Here is where they lost a star for us, they forgot the blue cheese crust, so after I mentioned it, it came in crumbles instead. My bfs steak was cut thinner, so his piece was smaller and cooked just a little over (more medium than medium rare) and the spinach came out cold. Now, don't get me wrong, this was still an AMAZING meal. Everything had such good flavor. The steaks were seasoned well and cut like butter. The sides were on point, and really elevated our experience. And although it was not a crust, the crumbles of blue cheese added another depth of flavor. But be warned, it is a stinky cheese, so if you're not a blue cheese fan, skip it. We ended our meal with a small little bread pudding, which I imagine was made smaller for restaurant week meals. But it was honestly the perfect amount, any bigger and I would not have been able to finish. Usually we take something home at the end of meals like this, but we finished everything on the plate. The portions were perfect, and our waitress was very kind! I would suggest running here before restaurant week is over for a nice meal that normally would have cost double! And honestly, I would come back and pay full price once in a blue moon for something so tasty!

Jessica M.

Yelp
We booked reservations for right after we landed in Boston. This wasn't my first choice but it was one of the few restaurants that was open late. We didn't have the greatest experience granted it was late at night. I'm sure the staff was tired and ready to head home. The food was subpar and that could just be that I was starving from a long day of travel. I was expecting more.

Deon E.

Yelp
I took my mother in law and with wife to Ruth Chris in Somerville ... it was a amazing experience and atmosphere..we had a great waiter by the name of " Mineer " is was really amazing ... I would definitely recommend this place.. it's a 5 for me ...

Cody L.

Yelp
Ruth's Chris is a go to spot for celebrating big events so anticipation and expectations were high, but this time it sadly didn't deliver. Our server seemed more focused on other tables and distracted. The overall wait for food and desert were significantly longer than usual, an order was wrong (ordered the 11 oz filet but served the petite) and one steak was not medium rare and not served hot (seemed like it was under a heating lamp for too long). The positives were the location is unique and a feeling of elegance, the lobster mac & cheese was on point and spending time a little extra time dining with family was enjoyable.

Manfred S.

Yelp
I am not a fan of steakhouse chains, so I rarely go and have few references. However, one of my professional associations has been booking a room here a couple of times. The 11 oz filet was outstanding. The artichoke dip was so-so. The cheesecake dessert was yummy. The staff was super friendly and efficient. Looking out of the window onto tombstones creates a special ambiance. Put that on the halloween list.

James F.

Yelp
This was a nice way to end the trip in Boston. I was very impressed with the service. Our waitress was on top of it and very attentive. The restaurant atmosphere is awesome. It's in old city hall and just a very unique experience. The food was pretty good. Bread - good. Caesar salad was very good as well. The steak was cooked well, lacked a bit of flavor to me to be honest. The sides were just okay. Garlic mash was average. The Brussels sprouts were not wonderful. Wine was good, as to be expected. If it wasn't for the service and atmosphere this would be a three star review.

Mark B.

Yelp
Unfortunately our holiday family dinner was disappointing. The Boston location, at the beautiful old City Hall building, was in real rough shape. Tiered carpets, bathrooms yucky, and paint that looked like it was sprayed on by a kid along the kick boards and hand rails going downstairs (lot's of overspray.) The place is worn out and not worthy of the Ruth Chris brand. I used to love this spot. My suggestion is to try another steak house when visiting Boston until this RC'c gets it's act together.

Ray M.

Yelp
They really tried, but coordination of service needs a LOT of improvement. Loved being greeted and the birthday decorations on the table were a nice touch. Server was friendly and we had a nice chit chat with her. However, we sat for a long time before even ordering. Mixed drink was never served. We had to request it again. After over an hour, entrees came out sizzling, but we never received appetizers that were part of the 3 Ruth's classic meals we ordered. Finally got the appetizers. Filet was very, very salty on the outside and was not buttery soft inside like the other steakhouse in Worcester that we usually go to. Server replaced the filet with an unsalted one, but it took a long time and everyone was done with their meals by the time I got it. I did not care for the char on the outside either. All the other food was great and the server brought an extra sweet potato casserole and extra dessert "to go" to make up for the mistakes. She also said we'd get something taken off the bill. We got the bill. It was someone else's. We finally got the right bill, but nothing was taken off. They corrected it and took off 1 meal. That's not the end of the errors unfortunately. In wrapping up our leftovers, they threw away some of our food. They had to remake mashed potatoes and creamed spinach which we had to wait even longer for. They included a fresh loaf of bread. When I opened the "mashed" potatoes the next day, they weren't mashed at all. Cubes of hard potato with orange stuff on it. What a comedy of unfunny errors. The server felt bad about all of the mistakes. More mistakes than we have ever experienced in one meal. They tried to make it up to us. The server agreed they are heavy handed with the salt on filets. All in all, loved the atmosphere. It wasn't too loud like the usual place we go to. I just hope the service and coordination is better next time.

Glenn C.

Yelp
Party of 4 appetizers, Cowboy ribeyes , bone in filet, Asparagus, baked Potatoes, Garlic Mashed, everything was 100-% Derek our server took very good care of us! Thank you for making it a memorable evening!

Jay R.

Yelp
Food was good but they really should be checking their bathrooms...I don't know, maybe for anyone who may OD in there....

Jennifer V.

Yelp
So our waiter was awesome that's the only reason I made three stars instead of two, for the price here, my partner got a ribeye with truffle crust medium rare that came out well done, in the past they actually come out a little less done than you wanted because the plate is so hot it cooks as it sits on it and you can cook it more on your plate. The steak was also extremely salty. We sat in the basement so I don't know about upstairs but the bathrooms were so small and dirty it was hard to even get out of the stalls because the doors opened in

Oz E.

Yelp
Despite this not being my usual scene as a vegetarian, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. Although I was worried I wouldn't find anything on the menu, once I got a glance I found more than enough dishes to please my appetite. While my family members were each eating their own pieces of meat, I was indulging on the spectacular Potatoes Au Gratin. Honestly a wonderful restaurant. Definitely recommend!

Keiddy C.

Yelp
Amazing service from the staff, the food was cooked and seasoned beautifully. The sea bass was very tender and fell apart. The lemon butter paired with the sea bass is perfect. Their creme brulee is one of my all time favorite desserts and was delicious. The sweet potato casserole was tasty paired with ice cream. Lastly, this restaurant being in the old state house gave a unique ambiance and had beautiful decor.

Jon M.

Yelp
Food was amazing, steaks were cooked to perfection and the shareable sides were the stars of the show. We came in on a busy Saturday and were told we can only sit in the bar which fortunately was an amazing experience. The bartenders Sally and Izzy made our experience amazing, they're very easy to talk to and make you feel welcome from the first moment you enter the bar. The building has a lot of history and is truly very beautiful. This was my first time at this location and it's most definitely become my favorite. Great food, even better service.

Amy O.

Yelp
The food is good my favorite was the lobster Mac and cheese and the lobster bisque. The service mhmm our waiter was rude! Restaurant is nice and classy looking.

Chelsea H.

Yelp
Oh gosh, where do I begin? My boyfriend made us a reservation for dinner last night for our two year anniversary and by the time we left, we were upset. We were led to the downstairs dining room and sat in a small corner table that was arms length from another small table. Not exactly intimate, but they were leaving so it was ok. Shortly after, another couple arrived and this was when the bad started. The male was on his phone the entire time, having a loud heated conversation. No one from the restaurant came to talk to him so we sat there, frustrated. We also never got any bread and when the rude table next to us got theirs, I asked our waitress and she apologized and said she would bring us some but never did. I was mad and saw someone later on carrying bread baskets and I signaled for him to come over and he looked at me and turned around! Until I literally yelled "No, we never got ours." Next, our food was delivered and we were warned the plates were hot but they put my lobster tail with my boyfriend and we burned ourselves three times trying to move around plates. We asked for our Tomahawk steak to be medium rare and it was instead rare. Also, the art hanging on the back wall was very crooked and it bothered me considering it's supposed to be a nice place. The music was also a very weird and distracting upbeat elevator/ska which doesn't exactly scream ambiance. My boyfriend and I both agree that we will never be back to any Ruth Chris locations.

Your Friendly R.

Yelp
We loved the unique view from our table. Great staff and hostesses. Food could have been a little better

Sharon D.

Yelp
Ruth's Chris Steak House has been a place to go once a year where we celebrate our good work for the year - it is pricey, but the space is beautiful and the food is amazing. They have so many amazing options and sides - we loved the stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes, lobster mac, potatoes au gratin, and creamed spinach. The staff is lovely and very attentive. Serious wine and cocktail options too. We have a pescatarian on our team and she was able to find delicious options as well. It is an experience - definitely recommend - but be prepared to dig deep into your pockets for this one!

Yelp
After addressing my issues with Management using my real Name and address I was offered Coupons which were never delivered. I not only stand by my previous Review I will add to my issues. After being Dumped in the Basement For my Anniversary I perused Who Else suffered this degradation In our immediate area. As usual it seemed like a 'profiled' Existence. Diversity abound yet Concentrated on certain minorities. The waiter was so rude he Might as well as threw water on My spouse. I mean with no apology in Sights nor a Reason. The service was Substandard at Best. The Atmosphere Dark and Dingy. The Price Exorbitant, and the Overall experience Abysmal. Yet after all of this I tipped and Acted Professionally. I wouldn't have used the coupons Offered at that location anyway. And feel even more discriminated, If this complaint came from a Company entity it or a prominent Caucasian this issue would have Been handled completely differently. Once Again after I exposed myself I was treated as a Second Class Citizen. The Shame Seems to have No Bounds!

Yelp
Best Beef Steak I've ever take! The environment feels good, people there are nice and friendly. One of the best restaurants should be recommended in Boston

Yelp
our waitress was strange. she was rude to the other staff and snappy when taking our orders. my family wanted to eat here for my sister's grad dinner so i got there not knowing if there was anything vegan on the menu. most appetizers aren't vegan (even the crimini mushrooms have a veal rub on them). but my waitress assured me there's an off-menu "broccoli steak" i could order. i do not recommend it lol. it's broccoli with breadcrumbs on top. it was disappointing. i've been to multiple ruth's chris locations, especially when i still ate meat and my experiences at other locations were much better. this location also doesnt offer the shoestring fries :( the rest of my family loved their food but questioned the service.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite steak houses in Boston. Service is always the best, parking is not the easiest but it is worth it for the food. The lobster Mac and the ribeye are my go to'a here. Can't go wrong with Ruth's Chris!

Yelp
Sadie was the best! thanks for the great service and food. We loved our steaks and martinis. Sadie threw in a cheesecake on the house for my birthday- very sweet! Xoxo gossip girl

Yelp
This is an expensive steak restaurant that, to me, is what an expensive steak restaurant should be. I don't usually go to fancy places and this is my upper limit of fancy. With that being said, the steaks are incredible here and my favorite side has to be their sweet potato casserole, it is incredible. The staff was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and a accommodating. It's treat to come here and I would love to go back. The ambience is quiet, perfect for a date. The atmosphere is pleasant with a unique layout of the dinner tables. Great restaurant.

Yelp
Overall awesome food however I do degeneracy prefer places such a fogo de chao over this one. I'm not a huge fan of the alacart sides however there steaks are out if this world good. Overall this place is great just very expensive for what it is. Service it awesome too.

Yelp
Well, I guess this would be a mixed bag of reviews. There were some high points to the evening and definitely some not-so-high points. Here's my breakdown: Service - 4.5 - The service was excellent with the surprised added bonus of the waitress taking my cocktail off the bill because it was sitting around for a while and arrived at the table extremely watered down (as the ice metled). All the servers were attentive and very personable. Appetizers - 4 - Wedge salad was tasty as where the stuffed mushrooms and fried shrimp Steaks - 4 - They were well cooked to order and tasted great. Sides - 2.0 - They were another story. The creamed spinach was solid, while the potatoes au gratin and mac and cheese were another story. Cooking potatoes and then melting cheddar cheese on top does not make an au gratin. Ditto on the mac-n-cheese. Even my son (who absolutely loves all that is mac-n-cheese) was less than impressed with it. I'm not saying that Kraft is anything to write home about, but if I doctored it up a bit it would beat RC's hands down Overall Rating 3.0 - For the 3 of us, I dropped $400.00 on dinner. I'm not intending to be hypercritical, but for that price point I'd expect a much better effort on the sides. It was a nice experience for a family birthday dinner, but next time I think it'll be a wiser choice to seek out some of Boston's other high end dining establishments where I'll get more consistent quality and creativity.

Yelp
Pricey but worth the price. Service and food were both fantastic. Wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly

Yelp
After a long day of playing tourist, I remembered seeing the sign for this steak house and made it my goal to have dinner here. It was interesting to have this restaurant inside the old City hall building, at first glance you wouldn't know there's a restaurant inside at all. The hostess was nice to greet me and find me a table. The room had a low light ambiance and everyone was lost in conversations. Amy was my waitress, very friendly and was quick to get my drinks and the one appetizer I wanted to start out with was not on the menu. Amy went to check if the chefs could make it happen and yes, the veal raviolis were on the make. They were so good with the sauce and spinach, I highly recommend them. Ribeye & Mac n Cheese (without lobster) we're up next. What I liked about the ribeye was that it came out still sizzling! Cooked perfectly and well seasoned I really enjoyed it. The Mac and cheese with truffle oil was also delicious, the perfect accompaniment to my steak. Overall, the staff was friendly, I had different people check in on me to see if I needed anything. I would recommend anyone to come and enjoy a good meal here.

Yelp
Ruined my celebration. I'm giving this 2 stars because the food was good but my experience was awful. I told them I was celebrating Christmas and they seated my mother and I in the basement "freedom trail room" where it's the only room without a Christmas tree and it smelled musty. We ordered pretty quickly and I thought the smell would go away but it kept coming in waves. Turns out it was paint. Manager was nice about it but you'd think they would comp something or offer free dessert (not looking for freebies but still). Just a miserable time. The rooms upstairs were more grand. The basement room felt like I was eating fancy food in a cafe lounge. My mom describes it as "a dungeon."

Yelp
While on vacation we made reservations, it was easy. The restaurant was in a historic and stunning building. Beautiful! Reservations were at 6pm Thanksgiving week and it was quite and intimate. Everything was fantastic and although this place can be intimidating the server was nice and professional. I must say the young men who came in during dessert were very distracting, they were the gossip of the servers and there was no discretion. And in another table a birthday celebration was taking place with a girl opening a very elaborate channel gift. There was a lot going on. I was glad for our early reservation and it was a really nice to be here.

Yelp
First to say we were there for a free meal with a talk we were invited to. The food waitress and all of the food was 5 star. The drink waitress was atrocious. First we had the drink during the talk and hadn't even eaten anything before she aggressively asked us to pay for the wine. We said are we not allowed to order a drink for dinner. She said she would ask. Begrudgingly she came and said we could get another drink. Then she disparaged our choice and seemed very angry we wanted a drink during dinner. Sorry Emma you are not meant for this job. Major turnoff . You guys make money for selling drinks. Our two drinks plus tips was $100!!! Emma needs to learn customer service please. Others at the table noticed how bad she was.

Yelp
We were really looking forward to this dinner. It was to celebrate my son's birthday. He had never been to an upscale steakhouse. Sadly, it was a disappointing experience. Having been to other Ruth's Chris steak houses in the past, I was expecting a fancy dining room. Instead, tucked into the Old City Hall building, we found a drab and dirty room. There was food residue on the window shelf that appeared to have been there for quite some time. The table was decorated with musical note confetti and a generic birthday card, but that was the extent of the birthday recognition. Our waitress seemed to be going through the motions and not that excited for her job. She asked if we were familiar with the shared portion sizes of the sides, but offered little else about the menu. It would have been nice to been given wine pairings and suggestions. We ordered everything at once and then waited....and waited. Since we almost finished our wine, I asked if we could get some more bread for the wait. About 30 minutes later our steaks arrived. The Mac and Cheese was so watery it was almost soup like. My wife's NY Strip had a tough piece of grizzle down the middle which made it very difficult to cut. The garlic mashed potatoes were swimming in a pool of butter. The bacon adorned brussel sprouts were tasty, but then again, anything cooked in bacon can be tasty. A different server came to our table and asked if we wanted to-go boxes and we took him up on the offer. A little while later our original waitress appeared and asked if we wanted dessert. I think she knew we were ready to leave but we did get the ice cream that came with my son's kids meal. $300 later and I felt completely ripped off. There are far better experiences to be had in nearby restaurants. Maybe other Ruth's Chris steak houses do better, but definitely place this one on the bottom of your list.

Yelp
We had never been to Ruth's Chris steakhouse but we decided to try it our last night in Boston. We had made a reservation on OpenTable, and when we arrived, we are informed that our preservation had been canceled by us. We did not cancel the reservation and after looking at the email it said the reservation was canceled by the restaurant. They were able to fit us in the bar, and that was fine. I had always heard so many good things about how amazing their food was, and I was very anxious to try it. however, it did not live up to past reviews. My filet you could cut with a fork, which was wonderful, and my husband was very happy with his steak however, sides had no flavor here whatsoever. I never salt my food but we had to salt the potatoes and the Brussel sprouts. I was very unimpressed for the price I paid for that meal. Side note, my lobster was extremely small and seem to be a pacific lobster tail not one from the East Coast. I really don't think I will ever go back to another Ruth's Chris steakhouse.

Yelp
I love a good steak. But I also love a properly cooked steak and I love good service or decent service. Especially at an expensive establishment. Celebrating a birthday and also the end of a birthday trip - we wanted to treat ourselves with a delicious steak to wrap up the week. Happy hour was served only in the bar area and started at 4 pm. We are younger. We also have been walking the streets of Boston for about 8 hours with many things under our belt today and I understand we looked a lil rough. However. The bar was emptyish. We were one of 3 other groups in the area. And service was lacking. Hard. We went for the happy hour filets - one served with 3 shrimp and the other topped with blue cheese and garlic. Or...supposed to be. Bread was hot. Butter was fresh. Caesar salad was delicious. But when you literally have to STAND up to alert your server you need something.....mmm.....eh.... Caesar salad was delicious. Hubby's steak came out perfectly cooked and with three huge shrimp as it should of. Mine came out. Nicely cooked...but...no blue cheese garlic on top. So it was sent back. Another steak comes out.....way undercooked and purple - as I had stated I do not want a purple steak and it should be a warm pink center. So it comes back again for the 3rd time now brought by the manager I'm assuming.....who asked for it to be checked and it was still purple and undercooked but at this point...whatever. Throw it back on a few seconds and I know it'll be over cooked rather than undercooked. No apologies when it came back out but whatever. It's a steak. My husband is now done and I will eat by myself. Steak was finally fantastic with just the right amount of garlic to blue cheese baked on top. Dessert was taken care of for hubby's birthday and was bread pudding and wow. It was incredible. Service was snooty - as I guess it should be for an upscale restaurant. But I had to tap my water glass a few times and stand up for it to be filled and when I wanted fresh bread.

Yelp
My husband is a steak lover so we reserved a table at Ruth Chris in Worcester, MA for his birthday. Hostess was pleasant and seated us in the back of restaurant totally by ourselves. That was ok- Waitress was also pleasant, took our drink orders and asked if we'd like some bread. Of course! She brought us drinks and warm bread. The bread was literally so hard that it was inedible. We brought this to her attention and she returned with some fresh, warm bread. O.k.... We ordered shrimp cocktail which consisted of three large shrimp. Then we placed our order for cowboy ribeye, filet, mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes. All arrived in a timely fashion, however, the presentation was so very disappointing. The filet was on a small ,oval plate which was completely spattered with grease and juice from the steak. This was so unappetizing. The cowboy ribeye was on a round plate, which was a little larger. We received a bowl of potatoes and a pan with mushrooms. Everything was hot and flavorful but, for me, not worth the almost $300 price tag, including 1 glass of wine and 3 beers. I mentioned the presentation to one of the servers. She must've told the manager who came to our table to explain that they use a " butter gun" to squirt butter onto the steak and it sizzles, so that is why the presentation is as it is. That's fine, but not for me- The price was so high and the presentation was not in keeping with the prices they charge. A plate with one piece of meat for $79? Really? I won't be returning- Btw, the manager gave us a complimentary birthday dessert, so he tried to make us happy customers. Ruth Chris is just not for us... But thanks anyway...

Yelp
Family friends from Arizona were in Boston celebrating a birthday Jodi Anselmo-Spinuzzi with Mom Nana (JMA not at this dinner on Sunset cruise) and daughter and niece Brittani Winter (Johnsen) :-) They had a wonder dinner and service from Neil and anthony . Great food Filet and crab cakes and potato au gratin a nice desert As a close family friend who worked with the Grandmother and matriarch of this group Joy May Anselmo while at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography SIO at UCSD University of California San Diego I wanted to help make things special so I called from San Diego to Boston to try to buy them glasses of Champagne (the hostess said they could take credit card over the phone nor verify that a patron was there ) I asked to speak to the manager and had a brief but pleasant conversation with the General Manager Chris Finley who said he knew what party it was when I described then and he said he would comp then Champagne on the house which he did and Jodi posted a picture on Facebook , Chris thanks for the great service a 3,000 miles away best regards Mark in San Diego

Yelp
Tried to order for pickup yesterday to avoid waiting. Their website kept saying due to too much volume pickup is unavailable. I ended up trying to call it in and I was told they can't take orders over the phone. So I ended up having to park in the parking garage and going in to order. The to go order took about an hr to receive so I ended up having a drink at the bar. The drink was delicious. Due to them taking so long with barely any customers, I had to pay $37 for parking. When I got home and looked at the order, I initially was disappointed. I ordered the potatoes au gratin and steak sandwich (not pictured) and they were not as good as i have at other locations. The filet mignon we received "11 oz" was seasoned well and the sweet potato was delicious. I am just disappointed for the overall experience since instead of spending the $120 gift card gifted to me, I had spent $50+ more due to not being able to place my order ahead of time. The hosts and bartenders were kind so that's a positive.

Yelp
Had the most enjoyable dinner during Restaurant Week at Ruth's Chris. I've been here many times in the past and it's always top notch, but tonight's dinner was probably the best experience I've ever had here. To start with, our server Kay is the best and definitely one of the top reasons for the stellar review! She makes the experience fun, and she is great at making recommendations! We were doing the Restaurant Week menu, but wanted to add to it and we loved her suggestions: the spicy shrimp app, the wine recommendations, and the crème brûlée. Our entire group left the restaurant in smiles, and were guaranteed to return again!

Yelp
I took some work associates here for a year end dinner the other night. I was a little hesitant based on my last visit but Ruth's Chris showed that my prior visit was an anomaly and/or they took my feedback seriously. After my last visit review, the company and location reached out and seemed to really care and learn from my experience. I am happy to report that the food was excellent. Service was pretty good. My team was impressed with both the food and atmosphere. I was very happy with the meal but even happier that it showed that Ruth's hasn't lost its mojo!

Yelp
Drove out from Hudson to enjoy a $50 gift card. Food was good, and the flourless chocolate brick was shockingly unpleasant. Ordered the $15 Dry Goose Martini which came tasting like the ocean, snow-less and with no blue cheese olives. Actually, no olives? on a martini? We did not think we would have to explain how to make a $15 martini. At. A. Steakhouse. What else was a no-show? The manager. In a Covid empty RC's, the manager had not the courtesy of thanking people for joining them. And the server. Sweet girl. Disappearing act. We took the bill up ourselves. Because she was with our olives... I HATE giving bad reviews. But when you drive from the Burbs into Boston for a Steakhouse experience, its supposed to be an experience. For the right reasons and not for the sad reasons. 1/2 of the perfectly cooked Tomahawk sleeps in the fridge for breakfast tomorrow. At least the cow showed up. And the spuds and the little green trees and the grazing food. Time to go back to Coach Grill. No parking fees. No tolls. Superb Service. And good, super cold Martinis WITH the olives!
