Portland ‘First Generation American Restaurant’ Xiao Ye Opens September 21 | Eater Portland

"I observed that some suburban-nostalgia dishes at Xiao Ye—like the masa-mochiko madeleines with jalapeño powder—are meant to evoke the jalapeño corn pudding at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Had an amazing dinner at Ruth’s Chris. The steak was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. Everything came out hot and full of flavor. The staff was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Great vibe too — classy but relaxed. Definitely worth it if you want a nice night out

We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation near the end of September, so we chose the Orlando Magical Dining option! Everything was amazing, from the decor and atmosphere to the food of course, and my group ordered the 9 oz filet as well as the 8 oz salmon filets. Both were perfectly cooked (you only get served the entree, a la carte items to accompany the meal are additional but since it was OMD, we received a house salad and a dessert). The steak was amazingly tender and cooked to perfection, and I snuck a bite of my husband's salmon and the same thing happened. I didn't care much for the chocolate sin cake, nor the cheesecake as they were french-style mousses and I prefer a denser dessert, but the presentation was awesome! Due to the pricing, this is definitely a special-event place as opposed to a regular date night restaurant for our budget, but it was an incredible restaurant and we'll definitely be back.

The food was cooked to perfection. Too often food is overpriced and lacks proper preparation. This Ruth Chris's Steak House was the perfect atmosphere for a date/dinner for groups from 2 to 10 people. Servers were attentive, kind and friendly.

Google
An absolute experience! For appetizers, we got the BBQ shrimp and ahi tuna. The shrimp was okay, but the tuna was amazing — it tasted more like poke than the usual ahi tuna I’ve had. By far the most expensive ribeye I’ve ever had at $81, but it was worth every penny. My friend got the porterhouse at a whopping $131, and my girlfriend got the lamb shanks for $44. Everything is à la carte, so sides aren’t included. Sides run about $15–$20 and are shareable between up to three people, so two sides are plenty. Drink prices are similar to any nice bar ($15–$20), but they’re definitely worth it. On their happy hour menu, drinks are only $8 — so definitely get there for happy hour! Obviously, it’s very, very expensive, but totally worth the splurge.

Google
Excellent service staff great management high and quality cuts of meat lots of creative options for potatoes and sides. Salads will not disappoint. You good location easy to get to. It's a little outdated as far as the decor . Happy hour has great choices for drinks and food. It's great for a few people small party and private events.

From start to finish, this dining experience was outstanding. Our server, Cassandra, was nothing short of exemplary. After mentioning I enjoy citrusy drinks, she went above and beyond by creating a custom mocktail from scratch that was absolutely refreshing. Throughout our meal, she was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our food was perfect and that we had everything we needed. The food itself was incredible. The Caesar salad was crisp and fresh, loaded with Parmesan just the way I love it. The French onion soup had a rich, layered depth of flavor that most places simply can’t achieve. Our filets were tender, juicy, and cooked flawlessly to medium rare, packed with flavor in every bite. The brussels sprouts had the perfect crunch, with a subtle bacon note that elevated them beautifully. The potatoes au gratin struck the perfect balance: creamy, cheesy, and flavorful without being overly heavy. Every detail, from the service to the meal, was executed with care and excellence. This is the kind of experience I’ll remember for a long time, and I can’t wait to return.

Me and my bf came for our anniversary and it was one of the best dinners we’ve ever had. The environment and atmosphere was lovely and Anthony took such great care of us. He went above and beyond every time he got the chance to, he made sure we were happy and offered many selections without being pushy! I had to pull the manager aside to tell him what a wonderful job Anthony was doing we will definitely be back to see him!

Went for date night and ran into their amazing happy hour and was able to sit down quickly without a reservation. Tried the $55 3 course special it was amazing.

Yelp
This was one of the best restaurants I've attended. It was a table of 9 of us and the gratuity was added into the checks. Now our server was handsome, smelled good, and so polite. They had a 3 course meal for $55 which was very good but you would want more and more because the food was delightful. The crab cake was so delicious we had to order some to take home it was so good. The dessert was very elegant. Now the decor was so nice in there. The restaurant is very elegant. The steak was juicy cooked to perfection and they allowed you to pay a difference to upgrade your sides to lobster macaroni and cheese. I can rant on and on about the crab cake I would like to buy some and stuff it in some salmon it was so good. I give them a 10 out a 10!

Yelp
We went in a little after opening to avoid the dinner rush and also grab some happy hour deals. We sat in the lounge, at a nice table in the corner. The inside while nice, is slightly outdated. But not deterring. The service was great. Our waitress came over almost immediately with bread and water. Ordered drinks and an appetizer, which came out quickly. The good: The steak sandwich with fries was the best thing we ate. It was cooked perfectly, tender, and the sauce on top complimented the crusty bread. The bread pudding is also one of the best I've ever had. Dense but moist, with a rich buttery and bourbon taste from the glaze. The bad: The actual steak is by far the worst at any steakhouse I've had. There wasn't an ounce of salt. None at all. The steak was also way undercooked that even the hot plate didn't bring it up to the medium rare we ordered (it was blue). The lobster tail was just ok. You needed the butter and it was tender, but again just no flavor or seasoning. I will go back for happy hour and that sandwich. But the actual steak, just go anywhere else.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I absolutely love this restaurant ! I've eaten at quite a few across various states. This by far was the worse one experience yet. This location didn't feel like a Ruth Chris. If something was dropped on the floor or table, it remained there the entire time. I could see napkins, straw wrappers, water and tickets on the floor. I ordered a lemon drop and the glass had different colors of lipstick on it. The restrooms were also dirty. The service was okay. The calamari, lobster Mac and cheese and asparagus were warm as if it had been sitting. Our steaks weren't cooked as ordered and they were tough. I'm accustomed to having a melt in your mouth steak from Ruth Chris but this was like a subpar backyard BBQ steak. We were given a complimentary dessert of our choice, which was positive. The best part of the meal was the lobster Mac and cheese. It was okay. Wish I could give them a 2.5. I hate that I didn't enjoy this meal.

Yelp
Very Nice experience enjoying Happy Hour at the Bar. Cocktails were delicious, especially the Lychee and Espresso Martinis. Variety of food options was above average except for lack of Vegan options. Capital Grille & Ocean Prime offer more.

Yelp
The standout of our evening was the great service. It truly set the tone for a great evening--our server was friendly and attentive. The surf-and-turf offering, featuring a filet paired with a perfectly cooked lobster tail, strikes a satisfying balance of rich flavors and indulgence. One of my favorite parts of any Ruth's Chris is the various sides to share, which never disappoint. While the ambience is warm and the experience can be worth it, the higher price point means it's best saved for a special night out. With so many restaurants and steakhouses in the area, I don't know if it is my top choice, but it's a good choice when you want refined food and top-notch service.

Yelp
Julian was amazing! Food and service were outstanding for my birthday celebration. I highly recommend.

Yelp
We love Ruth's Chris and went there for our anniversary! They are fantastic for special occasions and any time! They made our dinner extra special with a table of rose petals and hearts, plus a card! Fantastic ambiance! What special care! We were greeted by a delightful hostess, seated and attended to by Alex. Our server, Alex, was phenomenal. Great service! We started off ordering our drinks & appetizers. We ordered the Thai chile calamari and the shrimp cocktail. For our meal we ordered the petite filet, add jumbo lobster, ribeye steak, and creamed spinach. All were perfectly cooked to order and the creamed spinach was delicious! So we didn't finish all our steaks, we bagged to take home because we needed to have dessert! Special anniversary cheesecake, so scrumptious. What a perfect way to celebrate our 38th anniversary. Loved it.

Yelp
We have been coming to Ruths Chris for decades. Across the globe....Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas, Chicago, Orlando.....you name it, Ruth's Chris is hard to beat. I ordered a Pittsburg Rare Filet tonight and it came out spot on!! The sides, Brussel sprouts, Asparagus, Garlic Mashed, Mushrooms, were all FANTASTIC! Ruths Chris is (technically) a chain but it is jist as good as the high end too steak houses in the country in my opinion.

Yelp
Had a fantastic visit to this location. Sat in the main seating area and the service was excellent, friendly and attentive. The crab cakes are absolutely amazing! I love how food comes out sizzling on a 500 degree plate. The French onion soup was delicious. The lemon drop and dirty martini are fabulous. The lobster Mac and cheese is full of lobster. The lamb chops were seasoned to perfection. The sea bass was light and tender and delicious. The lobster was delicious as well. There was nothing we didn't absolutely love. Fantastic steak house with fantastic service!

Yelp
From bartender Morgan to our server Melissa (and Joseph), the staff created a seamless and enjoyable birthday celebration. Kudos for assembling such a super team. And then there's the food! Courses were well-timed, steaks done to perfection, sides delicious and the creme brulee was over the top.

Yelp
It was not as good as they pretended to be. The hostess was not welcoming and was not friendly. The server was nice, but he forgot a lot of things. The ambiance was loud and it felt like we were sitting in an outdated conference room. We ordered Tomahawk, Jumbo Lobster Tail, Caesar Salad, Baked Potato, and French Onion Soup. Tomahawk and Caesar Salad were good. French Onion Soup and Baked Potato were okay. Jumbo Lobster Tail was too salty like it cooked with saltwater. For the bill that costed almost $300, there are so many good places that have better steak and service in Orlando that we can go to.

Yelp
Ambiance was romantic and the table had rose petals on it... our server Sarina was knowledgeable, friendly sweet and helpful.. No we don't know her nor until today Every course was delicious and when my lamb chops came a little under done they quickly took it back to correct it. Will come again -

Yelp
Stopped in by accident due to the Florida rain. Found out about the happy hour! Amazing food lots of options both in food and drinks. The bartender was easy to talk to and prompt with service. Nice portion size for happy hour. Was able to get three apps and share them with the girls. Very good food. Wasn't packed which I appreciate. Very clean and not loud. Will surely be going back for another happy hour in the future.

Yelp
We went for magical dining and were not disappointed at all! We loved the 3 course meal and started with the lobster bisque. It was so creamy and delicious. Then came the sizzling filets and were absolutely incredible! I really liked the crust and the melted butter. It was so interesting and a very unique way to enjoy a steak. Lastly, I ordered the cheesecake, and my wife ordered the berries and cream. Both were so amazing! We celebrated our 2nd anniversary as well, and we sat near the wine rack in the corner for more private seating. We really appreciate that! Our servers were extremely attentive and professional. Overall, we had an incredible time and left so happy!

Yelp
The atmosphere was elegant yet welcoming--perfect for a relaxed evening. Big shoutout to Diego the bartender--his service was top-notch, attentive, and truly elevated the entire night. Highly recommend grabbing a seat at the bar if he's working!

Yelp
The overall food was good but not the best seafood I've tried. Nothing out of the ordinary but service was good

Yelp
JAMIE was our waitress. At the sandland location. She did an amazing job. We had a wonderful time. It was girls night out and i really just had a blast.

Yelp
New Year's Eve dinner was absolutely delicious. A picture is worth a thousand words and as you can see two lobster tails and a 6 oz Filet Mignon arrived to the table sizzling and cooked to perfection. My steak was ordered medium and it was perfectly that. The steaks are cooked to 500 degrees so they literally are sizzling when brought to the table, be careful and remember not to touch the plate though because they are right out of the oven also. Definitely worth the price $55 per plate mentioned above and mushroom side order was separate, I believe $12 . We do dine at Ruth Chris every so often and will return. The only thing i dod not like was the table we were assigned to which was the first booth right after the hostess stand. It was too close to the entrance and hostess stand so there was not much privacy and noisy and everyone entering the door were seen and passed by the table.Ofcourse it ended up being very busy around our table as the evening progressed. A little privacy on New Year's especially would have been nice. We arrived at 3:45 pm early dining and the restaurant was not busy at this time since they opened at 3 pm so i have no idea why we were seated here. I did not make a fuss through The hostess did not offer us the " Specials New Years Menu" . So after browsing the regular hard cover menu and just about ready to order our steak, we asked if there were any special dishes for the evening and thats when the server said yes and went to get them. So kind of odd that we were not given these in addition to the regular menus when hostess sat us down nor did the server announce them as he was ready to jot down our selections from the regular menu. Luckily we asked for it at the last second. Two Lobster tails and Filet Mignon dish was not on the regular menu. I recommend always asking what the Special Dishes of the evening are and if there are any other menus :) Other than this, service was good. Meal was tasty.

Yelp
This was probably one of the best experiences I have had in a very long time. It was so good we went back a second time so I will combine both into 1 review. The first time it was for my birthday. We made reservations and when we arrived they had some confetti and a card on the table which was such a nice thoughtful touch. I ordered a manhattan which was super strong but I'm not complaining at all lol I had to have the calamari even though I was the only one in my party that likes that and it was delicious it was crispy and sweet/spicy. I definitely recommend it if you want an appetizer. For our mains we both ordered from Ruth's classic which was steak and shrimp. Of course I added the lobster Mac and cheese. Although pricey it had a bountiful amount of lobster meat. Dessert I had the bread pudding to go because I was so full. The second time we went back for happy hour and I have to say I think they have the best happy hour than any place. It's EVERYTHING day from 4-6 in the bar area. Not only that it is a great deal with numerous options to choose. We chose the spicy shrimp because I love bang bang shrimp and that's exactly just it was like but better while my fiancé ordered the burger and fries. I will say it is a great deal and the burger was super juicy and cooked to perfection. Fries as always are delicious. I absolutely recommend coming.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! Reserved a table for 9 family members event. They were ready for us; from the Hostess to Alex (an awesome professional Server) to the GM, Ms Victoria Blackford (a young super manager that has the team all marching to an enjoyable drum-beat). Our family could not have been happier. The drinks were all very well-prepared (recommend the Gamblers Old Fashioned). My wife loved her Garlic Crust SeaBass. Our granddaughters raved on the Lobster Mac&Cheese & the Spicy Shrimp. The Cowboy Ribeye with Lobster tails were the favorite of our sons.... Don't miss the Crab Cakes and finalize with a spectacular Crème Brûlée... We had been doing mostly EddieV's and Ocean Prime, but now is Ruth Chris at SandLake. Management matters!! Thanks Ms Victoria!

Yelp
Ruth's Chris has been on my list of restaurants I've been wanting to try for years. And I finally got to try for the first time a few weeks ago. It was husbands birthday and he wanted steak. Took advantage of their magical dining menu. There was 4 of us and we each had their steak. Our meals came with an appetizer, main course with side item, and dessert. And of course we ordered their goat cheese and artichoke dip as a pre-appetizer. The goat cheese and artichoke dip came with warm bread for dipping or to slather. Each of us had the Cesar salad which was perfectly portioned. By the time our 8 oz petite filet came out, we were pretty stuffed. Oh and not to mention the dessert. I had their famous bread pudding. Husband got to pick his dessert that was not on their magical dining menu because it was his birthday. He got the chocolate cake which was rich and thick. Perfect for the chocolate lover. To be very honest, I was reluctant on trying such a fine dining restaurant during Magical Dining because I've heard so many horror stories from people who didn't have the best experience . BUT, that was quite the opposite for us. Our waitress Dawn (I think that was her name), took care of us that evening. She was very attentive. Just hearing her speak so highly of the chefs and the restaurant and how they take pride in preparing their food was mesmerizing. And the food was delicious too!! I loved hearing her talk. We all did! Her customer service skills is impeccable and it shows through her work. She made us feel right at home and the birthday celebration was very special. Husband loved that they sprinkled some birthday confetti across the table before we sat down. It was subtle enough to see but at the same time, not overboard. It was a classy touch that matched the classy ambiance. World class experience at its finest!! We're definitely coming back!!!

Yelp
Beautiful Presentation for an early Valentines Day meal. My wife and I had the T bone steak with Lobster Mac n Cheese and sautéed spinach. We enjoyed our meal and to our surprise we were waited on by our favorite server Alexus. She always goes the extra mile to her recommendations and providing us service with a smile. Alexus we will come back to see you at a table near the bar for happy hour. See you next week and thank you for a memorable Valentines Day celebration

Yelp
Awesome spot for happy hour! The service was fantastic, the food was fantastic, and the price was fantastic! Would highly recommend stopping in for happy hour since they have a lot off choices on the happy hour menu

Randy L.

Yelp
The service was excellent, but the food was just good. The first time we ate here, the food was superb, sizzling hot and delicious. The fixed price menu included fillet with shrimp, a salad, side, and bread, and creme brûlée. The second time we went, two out of four orders were wrong, the waitress seemed confused by everything, and the food was warm but not sizzling. Last night, the menu had changed so the steak was downgraded to a strip steak, did not include shrimp, the dessert had been downgraded to a small cheesecake ("Chef's choice), and the food arrived on room temperature plates, despite the server's warning that they were nearly 490 degrees. Our entrees arrived while half of our table was still eating their salad, and then the desserts took forever to come out. At these prices, everything should be excellent. It is not. The service pulled the ranking up to 4 stars. On food alone, it would have deserved 3 stars.

Yelp
First time at Ruth Chris. Great experience. Everything turned out great. Would recommend.

Yelp
A solo happy hour date at Ruth's Chris led to a very happy me. I went to Ruth's and ordered the pomegranate martini and tried their Prime Cheeseburger (happy hour). The drinks here are PHENOMENAL. I could have stayed there for the drinks alone. My bartender was also attentive and personable. The burger, however, wasn't as amazing as I wished it be sure to the name but my life for a soft bun could have played a role in that. I was glad to buy the burger at a happy hour price. For dessert, I HAD to try the bread pudding and an espresso martini (I LOVE espresso martinis) and neither of them disappointed. The bread pudding comes warm and moist and the splash of Bailey's I asked for in my martini paired right along with it. All I needed was a blanket and a lounge chair! I'll definitely be returning but I'll certainly opt for a steak next time to give a true rating, but I was pleased with my outing AND I had some bread pudding left over to take home.

Yelp
Attended Ruth's for happy hour and the service was amazing!! The small menu may look deceiving, but the taste of the food is still lingering in my mind a day later!! 10/10 recommend

Yelp
This place was amazing! It was our first time trying it and we couldn't be happier with the experience! Excellent service provided by everyone but our server dawn made the whole experience! She was the absolute sweetest and most attentive! She had really good food recommendations and We will definitely ask for her next time we go! The food was incredible! Not one thing to complain about!

Yelp
We went to Ruth's Chris Steak House as they have these pretty sweet Wine dinners on a regular basis. This night was the Belle-Glos family of wines and they paired the wines with various food items. Each course was good and we chose this one as it had both steak and salmon. Honestly, I think every month, they have a filet on their wine dinner, but the other items on the menu made us choose this one. We'll either pick this based on the Winery or the Menu. If you're going to indulge, why not have a nice steak. We enjoyed the dinner, the service was excellent, and Mr. S won the basket of goodies. For a chain steak house, it's pretty good.

Yelp
Great experience! I made a large party reservation online for 20 people. That itself was a surprise because most of the other restaurants I checked out require you to call to make the reservation and it crosses over into being a banquet room/prefix menu situation. As we got closer, my count reduced to 16. Our table set up was good and we had two servers. Both handled our orders wonderfully. Not one complaint from anyone in our party. We were celebrating my fathers birthday and the table had confetti and a birthday card signed by employees. Nice touch. Various food items were ordered and again not one complaint. Everything was cooked perfectly and enjoyed. I know this is a steak house (and the steaks were delicious), but those sweet potatoes stole the show!
google avatar

Yirel M.

Yelp
I was finally able to check out Happy Hour and it definitely was worth it. The restaurant has the very traditional steakhouse feel, dark and elegant. We sat at the bar and sampled some cocktails and chose the steak sandwich which was only $11 on happy hour. The steak was cooked to perfection as were the well seasoned fries. I tried the cosmopolitan, which was a bit sweet for me. I then opted for the house red which was great with the steak!

Vicente G.

Yelp
Food always amazing at Ruth Chris I can never complain about that I go to Ruth Chris all over the country! This is the worst service I have ever received!!!

Carol N.

Yelp
Ruth Chris on Sand Lake Road. It is now the second time we have had lukewarm side dishes served to us...the macaroni lobster and creamed spinach. The Manager tested the temperatures at our table and they were 132° yet he said they were 160° when he left the kitchen. Manager said they were acceptable to be served at that temperature. It was a very unpleasant dinner. I brought both home after not eating any and will reheat them later.
google avatar

Indera H.

Yelp
We have been to Ruth's Chris several times before, for me the food was always just okay. We recently came here for a financial seminar and was still underwhelmed by the food. Let's start with seasoning, it adds so much to the food and which was missing from this meal. We started off with a salad, which was fine, just greens and vinegrette, then I had the salmon, mashed potatoes and broccoli. The salmon had only pepper, no other seasoning and the broccoli was simply steamed. Even the mashed potatoes were bland. My husband's steak was overcooked and our server told him it would be a bit of a wait to redo the steak, so he kept it. He also ordered a glass of wine but after half an hour had gone by and no sign of our server, he went to the bar and got the wine himself. Not impressed.
google avatar

Louis P.

Yelp
Service was great. Manager even visited us. Food was good but i think the steak is the best option here. Ordered the salmon, meh. Anyway, much better than our last visit!!

Lisa M.

Yelp
Victoria the General Manager was gracious and we appreciated it. Anthony was our server and he and his team did an excellent job helping us navigate the menu and make our dinner our choices. The food was cooked perfectly delicious from the bread and butter to salads and on to surf and turf to dessert. I asked for a special cocktail the bartender did not bat an eye to make. This was truly an amazing experience from start to finish. If you are in Orlando visit this location, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I enjoyed my date night with my partner at Ruth Chris, as we were immediately seated for reservations on a Friday night. We participated in Magical Dining for $37 per person. I ordered the Caesar salad, stuffed chicken, and the cheesecake. My partner ordered lobster bisque, steak and shrimp (added the lobster tail for an extra $), and the cheesecake. We also ordered a side of the truffle Mac and cheese (the sides are shareables; the magical dining menu does not come with sides). I enjoyed all of my food. The salad was simple, but tasty with plenty of dressing. The stuffed cheese in the chicken was delicious, and the cheesecake was good. My partner did not enjoy his lobster bisque (left an aftertaste), the steak was undercooked (ordered a medium well; but the flavor was delicious), and I wasn't a big fan of the Mac and cheese (a little bland with strong cheese flavor). The Drinks were great: from the Manhattan, old fashioned, espresso martini, wine, etc.; and our waiter, Marty, was kind and attentive. I would definitely visit again and try new items, yet keep Steak.

Yelp
I recently threw my parents a surprise 65th Wedding Anniversary Party in one of the private rooms at Ruth's Chris. I had many email conversations with Katie regarding the party. Katie was very nice and allowed me to sub an item on the private dining menu. In order to set up decorations, we were allowed to arrive an hour before the set dining time and the staff was very accommodating, especially as guests started arriving early also (and this was before restaurant hours). The servers (Alex was the main server, I think Sean? might have been the name of the second server - but honestly I'm not sure as I dealt mostly with Alex). At any rate the service was top notch! Alex updated the set up of the room slightly to accommodate my decorations. He offered us drinks the moment we arrived to set up. The entire meal went very smoothly. The private dining menu included a choice of filet mignon, NY Strip, fish, stuffed chicken breast, or broccoli steak (no idea what that is). The servers were quite honest stating that the NY strip would be on the tough side, but said it would be more flavorful. A couple of the men chose the NY Strip. To be honest I don't think any of them were happy with it but none complained during dinner. My dad said his had no flavor at all and was so tough he couldn't chew it. I feel badly about that - but I also feel it was his fault for not telling the server. They were truly being very nice and I feel had he complained they probably would have let him send it back and get a filet. Everyone who had the filets said they were outstanding. My one friend got the chicken breast and said it was to die for. The broccoli was cooked the way I like it (lightly steamed). The mashed potatoes were a little watery - but who wants a lot of mashed potatoes when you're looking at an 8 ounce filet mignon? The cheesecake seemed to be a bit smaller then I pictured - but it was Delish! We were all pretty full from dinner - so again, not a big deal. Note: I had wanted to take family photos at the party. The room is long and skinny - no room for group photos. I did walk around the table and take individual photos of couples at the party. There really isn't anywhere else at the location for photos. All in all, I am very happy with the service and food. I would definitely have another party there in the future for VERY special occasions. A note regarding the pricing for the party rooms - there is a minimum amount to be spent / charged for food and alcohol. (So it needs to be a pretty large party to make it cost effective. (amount varies depending on time and day of the week) Plus a 3% admin fee for using the room which they said they can NOT waive, plus tax and tip. I really dislike paying admin fees. But it is what it is.

Yelp
We went on Friday night Feb 2nd for my mom's 65th birthday and it was nothing short of phenomenal. Alex was our server and he was fantastic. Made sure that our table was always clean and tidy, our glasses were never empty and he guided us on the menu perfectly. Obviously, steaks are a big deal here and they were cooked perfectly. Crème brûlée was perfectly torched and creamy. And what made the difference was the general manager, Victoria, coming by to personally check on us to make sure everything was perfect for my mom's birthday. Couldn't have asked for better service, a better meal or better ambiance. We will be back!

Yelp
I came here for my 30th birthday and it was also my first time coming here, and it was a bit disappointing. My husband had made reservations for 9pm and we had got there 10 minutes early and despite it being busy when we first walked in, we had waited an extra 25 minutes just to be seated when our reservation was at 9pm. After being seated I wanted to get a bottle of dry red wine and the waiter didn't know much about wine and that was fine but every time we asked a question he would have to leave our table and go ask someone. We had ordered off the Magical Dining menu and I had tried the Lobster Bisque which was really good and then I ordered the filet and I had asked for medium rare and soon as I had cut into it, it was cooked well-done... we asked for it to be corrected and it finally came out. After that we ordered dessert and I ordered bread pudding and they had brought out cheesecake, so by this time I was just over it. The food wasn't worth the money to me and all the problems that had occurred.

Yelp
I've always been recommended to try this place because if it's ambience, food, and workers. My significant other and I went for magical dining and of course wanted to try out the steak since it is a steakhouse. Overall we were not as impressed with the food. The filet was great, but very bland for what it was. Our expectations were set pretty high given it was a well known steak house in the area. Overall had a great date night and enjoyed the hospitality and presence of it all!

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Ruth's Chris but I was actually a little disappointed with the level of service I received from this location. I've always gone to Ruth's Chris in Lake Mary and Winter Park so I'm very familiar with how the restaurant does things. Typically I go for happy hour more than dinner but I think this will be my last visit at the sand lake location. Sat in the bar area and was the first to arrive for happy hour. So it wasn't busy at all. My main issue that I had was the food runner stopped right in front of our table to watch the Jets game. Food was on the tray and ready to be served to us but the fact that he literally paused his attention to watch the Jets game for a few minutes and not say anything or apologize to us is so crazy to believe. If he's more interested in watching the game then he shouldn't be working. I also noticed that he did it to another table and wasn't wearing his mask properly. All of the staff were wearing their masks properly except for him. Our server was nice but not that attentive. Drinks were empty most of the time and she seemed not too happy with being at work. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of the food. They always have tasty options but it was definitely disappointing to not have the same service that's at the other locations. I also want to let it be known that I'm a huge football fan as well. And I get that fans are committed to seeing the games during this fluid time but the jets aren't even having a good year. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend coming to this location.

Yelp
Decided to stop by for the first time after noticing they were on the magical dining list! For my meals, I opted for the steak salad, petite filet, and bread pudding; I also ordered asparagus on the side and a lemon drop martini. The magical dining special is definitely a steal knowing how much everything is normally priced. I've heard people rave about this place and how good their steak is, so maybe I came in with high expectations, but I wasn't impressed. I enjoyed the complimentary bread because who doesn't love a fresh baguette! My food wasn't bad, but it just was Ted what I expected. My salad was great, I did the lemon basil sauce, which was a bit creamy and a little on the salty side! I ordered my filet medium rare, which I was very pleased with once it was brought out. The steak was a great size, cooked to medium rare perfection, and such a nice soft cut when I cut it. I would say the only down side is the steak doesn't have much flavor; it's cooked with salt and pepper and the plate has melted butter and a sprinkle of herbs, but to my taste it was a bit bland. I expected more out of the taste of the steak so I was kinda disappointed in that aspect, but overall the steak was decent and prepared well! I ordered grilled asparagus to compliment my steak and they were seasoned nicely, no complaints! My favorite part of the dinner was the bread pudding! It was so soft and rich in flavor. It had raisins in it which I enjoyed, and was lightly coated with some kind of sauce (melted ice cream perhaps?); I had mine and my significant other's who contrary to my opinion didn't like the raisins! The lemon drop martini was foolproof, definitely lemony and sour, but such a great drink if you like lemon drop shots! Service was quick and professional! Our waiter was so kind and educated on not only the menu, but the overall restaurant. I'd recommend making reservations to cut down on wait time! I'm glad I experienced this place for magical dining because I probably would have been a bit more disappointed in paying full price for the steak. Again it wasn't bad, just didn't meet my expectations especially knowing this place is pricier and known for their steaks!

Yelp
Came here again. Alberto is the best server. Very attentive and hospitable, but so is the entire staff. However, he stood out. Food was great as usual.

Yelp
And Ruth Chris management doesn't even apologize! It's amazing that a restaurant as prestigious and expensive can disregard its customers.. I only went there because my sister wanted to go.. experience wasn't bad, it's the crab cakes that made me throw up in the middle of the night!

Yelp
We enjoyed the restaurant service and food, Andrea our server was excellent. She made our 27th wedding anniversary dinner very special. While we were there, a pretty preocular situation transpired., although we do not have the full story, a party of 30 people, who were celebrating a surprise birthday party, were abruptly asked to leave. Several people in the party said they were refused service because of customer complaints about them being too loud surprise celebration and a smell of marijuana one of the people family members . I really hope the manager did not act too hastily or illegally.

Yelp
The food was not up to par. I asked for a medium rare steak I ended up receiving a medium well steak. We mentioned it to our waiter Mary Beth and she sent us the manager Victoria. Nothing was done to replace my steak or give us anything as an apology. The ambient was ok. I was disappointed in the place.

Yelp
Alexus is an amazing server. She made our experience perfect from start to finish. She even had the manager change the soda keg to gift us the freshest soda available. Every request that we made. She delivered with a smile and prompt delivery. She is truly an angel of servers. We asked for a lot above the regular and she delivered with a big smile and happiness. She deserves a raise . Even when I forgot to order an extra dirty martini. She took it with a big smile and delivered exactly what I wanted. We wouldn't have had such a special time without her amazing expertise and services. Alexus deserves a raise

Yelp
My wife and I recently visited the Dr. Phillips location in Orlando. During our visit, We had multiple issues. First: The wrong food was brought out to our table. Second: my steak was overcooked. Management did a really good job at rectifying the issues experienced during our meal. The manager immediately came to the table apologized repetitively and offered to comp the entire meal, she then brought out dessert made sure the rest of our Mia was properly prepared and delivered to the table. I really hope Ruth's quality is not slipping.
