I made a reservation for a solo birthday dinner here. They were very warm and welcoming. Kevin did an exceptional job. He ensured that I enjoyed myself by continuously checking on me. He was very attentive. Marlon my bartender was great at his drinks making. He too ensured that my glasses were always full and that I enjoyed myself. They made sure I enjoyed my birthday dinner, out some birthday confetti on the table. For appetizer I had the crab cakes. They were really good!! Very flaky with nice big chunks of crab in it. I did the 3 course meal deal. Mac made cheese, brussel sprouts as my sides and lobster tail with steak as my main course. All of it was extremely tasty. For desert I had a mini cheesecake and they came and sang Happy birthday to me. I fully recommend here as it was an enjoyable night.

Myself and my husband ate here on Tuesday July 25,2025. Going out, especially to fine dining can be extremely challenging, as we not only have a 1 year old but I am a disabled parent. We always try to get in and out, eat quick, and try to stay out of the way as we have learned first hand, the world can be very inpatient. From the minute we arrived, the manager Robert, Carlos our server and the entire staff were extremely warm, attentive and so kind. They helped us get seated with our own high chair, had a spot for our stroller, were extremely patient and were so playful and personable to our daughter. You can tell how genuine everyone was. We were able to relax through an amazing meal and dessert. They personally helped us to the family bathroom as it’s extremely hard for me to change my daughter independently. This is a HUGE help. Some restaurants don’t even have a changing table in the men’s room let alone a family bathroom. We were truly touched by everyone’s genuine smiles and kindness. People return to some restaurants for the food.. But in this case, it will definitely be for the people as well as the food. Kindness in this world today, especially to an adaptive person goes a very long way. You truly touched our hearts. We will definitely be back.

Requests are met with eye rolls, delays feel intentional, and basic courtesy is treated like an optional upgrade. The steak? Overpriced mediocrity riding on a reputation that expired years ago. Any halfway competent home cook with a cast iron pan could outperform this kitchen without the arrogance or the bill shock. Paying triple digits for food this uninspired feels less like dining and more like being conned in a suit. Management deserves special mention—not for leadership, but for their impressive ability to enable the dysfunction. Complaints are dismissed, accountability is nonexistent, and the vibe is clear: they don’t care, and they don’t have to. For starters they brought us cold coffee! Three of us ordered French onion soup after 45 minutes they said they ran out of French onion soup and came with tomato soup! Ten minutes later the table across from us had French onion soup! Appetizers took 1.5 hours to come to our table! Dinner came 2.5 hours after ordering! We never even got our entire order either! They brought dinners out with no sides! Only one person received their sides! After complaining and after everyone finished their dinner 30 minutes later we received two sides of the sweet potato casserole and one lobster Mac and cheese. We were still missing one additional side of lobster Mac and cheese and one sweet potato casserole and we never received it either! When dessert came we were missing two cheesecakes which we never received either! The food we did receive was excellent besides the carrot cake, but the service and the whole experience was TERRIBLE! John our waiter was a nightmare! He blamed it on the kitchen. All his tables in my area I can hear them complaining about him as well! Do yourself a favor and dine at a different location!

I had a great meal here. I had the 6 oz filet which was cooked to medium rare perfection, and it was very good (but nothing special for a steak house filet). I added the grilled lobster tail and it was excellent. I started with the wedge salad and I'd say that's the classic, amazing steak house wedge. It was one of the best I've had. I had an excellent glass of wine from a solid, but not exceptional wine by the glass list. The service was very good. I would definitely go back if I were in town again and I was looking for a classic steak house dinner.

We went out for dinner this past Sunday to celebrate my niece's birthday. They kindly played the game we requested, which was a nice touch. The food was delicious, well-seasoned, and arrived at the perfect temperature. Drinks kept flowing throughout the evening. Our waiter, David, was very attentive to our table. When I paid the bill, I left a generous tip of $100.00, but David never returned to say thank you. That was quite rude!

Absolutely incredible. The most luscious, fork-tender, buttery filet I've ever eaten. In true Ruth Chris fashion, it came sizzling on top of fragrant butter. The potatoes gratin were cheesy and savory (a bit oily but go big or go home!). We ordered the lemon drop and added strawberry to it - delicious and STRONG. Lastly, we ordered a devil's sin cake to celebrate my birthday. It's a flourless chocolate and was closer to a chocolate mousse than a traditional crumb cake. It was rich, slightly bitter, and perfectly sweet. The interior is beautiful and spacious. Went on a Friday night and had no trouble being seated. Service is excellent and made us feel taken care of. There are paid street parking areas nearby.

I was there on the 10 Not my first time at Ruth Chris, just this one, compared to Weehawken I was disappointed bacon in the Brussel Sprouts was dry as jerky, leaving the entire dish dry, the potatoes Au Gratin was worse than Stoufer's out of the freezer aisle, the cheese was blander than Cheez Whiz. We didn't say anything because it took so long for the food to come out.

This was my first visit to Ruth Chris in Jersey City. We were celebrating the birthday of a friend. Parking is somewhat nearby, we parked in the Newport Mall parking garage and it costs about $20.00. The service we received from the host, servers and Manager was warm and friendly, attentive and professional. The food was good, the lobster bisque was warm when it arrived and cooler off quickly so by the time it was midway it was cold. I ordered the fish and shrimp as my main, which was very good, served hot and it was moist and delicious. For the side dish, we shared the lobster Mac and cheese, it was good, not great. For dessert we shared the bread pudding, which was nice.

Had an amazing experience at this location. We opted for the Ruth's Classics set menu which included appetizer, steak entree, side, and dessert for each person. The house salad had an enticing dressing that had me wolf down the entire thing quickly. My steak came out the perfect temperature and was very juicy. For dessert, we had a slice of cheese cake that was quite satisfying as well. I also must acknowledge the service that evening. Our server had great attention to detail and made us feel right at home. It was a very nice tough for the restaurant to have that level of service!

Really turned off by this restaurant after being a big fan prior (pre Covid and Covid time). Came here with my family and spent $700. My in-laws were at the bar and spent $35 on 2 drinks before dinner. They tried to pay and we're told to sit and they (restaurant would bring bill to the table). Once at the table they asked 2 more times as they didn't wanted to added on to the final bill and were told not to worry about it. Fast forward after spending $800, the restaurant looked up the credit cards phone number and told us they were gonna charge us for the $35 unpaid bar bill. TACKY and cheap and they were told this on the phone especially since we tried to pay it 3x. As for the dinning experience, empty on a Friday night. Some of the silverware and glasses were dirty upon seating and had to be replaced. Steaks infused with so much butter. Expensive. Bottle of Pinot Grigio $98. You are better off going to fire and oak. My family and I will not be back.

The food, service and ambiance was amazing. We came on Sunday for my cousins birthday around 4:30pm and it was the perfect time. We were here till around 7 and it wasn't crowded at all. Our servers were nice and answered all our questions. The food was yummy!!! My favorite appetizers so was the crab cake and the spicy shrimp. I had the mule and it was tasty, the merlot was good and I head the lemon drop was also tasty. We are awaiting our streaks but so far I give them a 5 start their cleanliness and great customer service.

Awful, overpriced and pretentious. Dinner for 3 was $400. The steak was good. The seafood tower was so sad. Not at all what you'd expect. Asparagus were 5 thin asparagus on a plate. No frites. Desserts were very very sad and premade- frozen. I will never go there again.

My family made a 6:15pm reservation for yesterday, May 11, 2025, to celebrate Mother's Day. We arrived and checked in at the front desk at 5:47pm. We were told to have a seat and that we would be seated closer to our reservation time, which was fine. 6:15pm came and went, and we weren't seated. After asking about our reservation a couple of times, and eventually being told erroneously by one of the hostesses that we never checked in, it took more time to get everything straightened out. We were eventually seated at 6:45pm. Carlos, our frazzled but kind server, greeted us and took our order (we placed drink, appetizer and entree orders at the same time as we could see others around us upset and complaining about the wait times). We received our appetizer first, then drinks. Another 35 minutes goes by and we hadn't yet received our salads. When asked, Carlos apologized and said that the kitchen was very backed up. The salads eventually came, but with no dressing. Another 5 minutes goes by before we receive salad dressing. Then, at 8:15pm, when we still had not received our entrees, we asked to speak with a manager. Carlos pointed out the manager, who we would eventually come to know as Robert Rosado. We waited a while to talk with Robert who avoided our table, passing by multiple times without stopping or making eye contact despite Carlos saying "this table would like to speak with you". Robert completely ignored us and busied himself going back and forth throughout the dining room. It was odd. Seeing Robert's lack of engagement, Carlos eventually brought a woman to our table whom he said was the general manager. When we told her what was going on and explained how bad our experience was, she said she would go to the kitchen and check on our order. She eventually came back and said that our order would be out next. 15 more minutes pass and we get some of our entrees and sides, but not all that we ordered. Another 7 minutes pass and the rest of our order comes out. By this time it was almost 9:00pm. We were all exhausted and no longer in a celebratory mood. Other tables around us were also unhappy and the general mood was somber. We decided to box our food up and take it to go, completely defeating the purpose of dining out. As we were leaving, Robert Rosado had the audacity to flippantly say "it's too bad this wasn't a good Mother's Day" with a smirk. We were shocked! I stopped, circled back to him and asked if he was the manager, and told him how rude and disrespectful his comments were. He quickly back peddled and said, "I was talking to her" and pointed at his co-worker. Then he said, "well, at least you got discounted food". Unbelievable. As if a discount alleviates the disappointment and ruined holiday and time with my family. The gall and the nerve. Robert completely lacks empathy, is tone deaf, and does not know how to read the room. How insulting for a manager to behave in this manner. He should have been apologetic, yet he had a mocking tone, stance and disposition. He offered no apology, which, anyone with the slightest bit of common decency, given the circumstances, would have freely given. He needs to be fired expeditiously as he is a horrible example of a leader. I am shocked that he is even employed there. After our awful experience at the Jersey City location I checked the other reviews and to no surprise Robert Rosado's name came up multiple times for his rude and insensitive behavior. Is the unemployment rate that low in the area that you keep him employed because you can't find a replacement? He is beyond awful, and your customers deserve so much better. Over the years my family has celebrated special occasions at several different Ruth Chris locations from Minneapolis, to Cleveland to other New Jersey locations. After last night's experience I can confidently say that we will never patronize a Ruth Chris establishment again.

Returned to Ruth's Chris restaurant in the Newport area of Jersey City and had another great meal. This time we started with the Mushrooms stuffed with Crabmeat which was very good. For our entrees we had the Ribeye and the Lamb Chops - both were cooked perfectly to a medium rare that we had requested and were wonderful. Our server Giovanny was friendly and helpful and one of the managers stopped by a couple of times to check on us which was a nice touch. Looking forward to returning again in the future when we are in the area.

Went back for a second time last night and can honestly repeat word by word of my first review from back in 2022 . Our server Marlon was the most professional and amazing ever . Even when we told the hostess Ash that we wanted to sit together she was extremely accommodating. The food in the place is simply amazing . If you have a special occasion or just want some great quality food and service this is certainly a place for you . Hands down.. 10 stars :)

The ambience of the restaurant is very nice. Quiet, intimate, soft lighting...we were celebrating my husband's birthday and the staff did a good job in acknowledging the occasion. There is little to no nearby street parking but a parking garage conveniently located in the vicinity. I had to request a replacement wine glass as the one originally at my place setting was soiled. There were a couple of items ordered that did not come out before were ready to end our dining experience. Those items were graciously comped. There was an overzealous bus boy that kept trying to take away our dishes before we were done with them. But, on the plus side our server was very attentive.

This is a sinking ship. Staff was blah. No class or too rough. Menu was dirty (come on Ruth). Steak was nice but it seemed like they put it together so fast, like fast-food. Garlic mash was bland. Salmon and shrimp were geriatric at best. They missed a few offerings, and they seem understaffed. Go to NYC. Your chances are much better.

Attended a rehearsal dinner here and everything was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, aka actually medium rare. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were also great. The chocolate torte with raspberry sauce for dessert was the perfect ending to the meal. The servers were also friendly and attentive!

I was a little disappointed how the food, with the exception of calamari & blueberry mojito, was lacking in taste. I mean I'd expected the salmon to be great but it lacked flavor and a little bit inedible for it appeared drizzled with olive oil as an afterthought. I know, I know, we should have ordered the filet and steaks but still, this visit at a Ruth's Chris was a big disappointment! My hubby and I stayed at the Westin next door and wanted to treat my younger sister who is a first line worker (nursing asst) in the area- she chose Ruth's Chris upon hearing how great this place was only to be letdown. Worst of all, our main waiter did not offer any recommendation and provided less than adequate service. If not for the other waiter who subsequently assisted I would have gelt bad about the 20% tip! I wanted to support and expected good food and service. Now I know the only Ruth's Chris that provides great food & experience was the one in Crystal City, VA! The few others failed in comparison! I'd hate to write them off but---disappointing...

Came here not too long ago my friend and I was in the area and we wanted some food keep in mind this is after 9:30 pm a weekday and every restaurant in Jersey at this point is basically closing or no more tables for the night. We was prepared to go home after noticing the time however, Ruth Chris gladly seated us. Instant star just for the simple fact because they could've easily turned us away. The service was amazing we were not rushed at all. The manager even came over to the table and apologized for the lighting going on while we were still dining. Ruth Chris food is pretty good so no complaints food wise and the bill was actually cheaper versus if we were in the city. I would definitely come back to this location.

Dani was our server and she was incredible! So welcoming , checked on us the perfect amount of times, accommodating, professional,and really sweet!! Everyone from the time we entered the restaurant, all the servers, and the manager Robert was amazing!! Robert and Dani went above and beyond and made our experience a really wonderful one. The Ruth's chopped salad is my favorite!!! The sea bass was really tasty but didn't love the spinach it is served on. May be personal preference. The fish was great. Mashed potatoes were very, very yummy!! Get the cheese cake. 5 stars for Dani and Robert!

I have been on the GO recently, so enjoyed a relaxing dinner in JC tonight. I got the chef's spring special: Caesar salad, shrimp & filet mignon, creamed spinach, and bread pudding. Topped off with a cab. Everything was tasty; I particularly love the creamed spinach, salad, and shrimp. Of course the steak was cooked perfectly. I can't complain. The portions are large, so I took quite a bit home. I come here often after a long day at work. Customer service for the win!!!!

Stopped in at the very last minute for a quick meal, but our time turned into such an incredible night due to the amazing service provided. Marlon, Paul, and the manager made our dining experience super spectacular! We are local and will definitely return. The food was also excellent.

Amazing ambience, staff and quality menu items. Now I know why they're famous for their steaks. You don't even need a steak knife because it cuts like butter. Portions are quite generous and most people got a doggy bag. Caesar salad is in an oval bowl with generous amounts of cheese and dressing in a chilled dish. Garlic mash for one was enough for two and the 11 ounce filet steak was also enough for the next day as well. Chocolate flourless cake was like eating pure fudge heaven topped with a fresh strawberry and raspberry ganache.

I'm extremely late! I was cleaning out one of my pocketbooks and came across a business card that was given to me some time ago when I visited. Quick story I was sitting down with my fiancee when a guy sitting at the table next to us dropped the hard N word numerous of times which made the waitress ,my fiancee and myself VERY uncomfortable. The guy who was clearly white got very offensive and caused a seen when approached? respectfully by the manager. The GM on hand Patrick Costello handled the situation very professionally on both ends. We were truly overwhelmed and wanted to leave out of that place ASAP, but Patrick rest assured something like that would never happen again under his supervision. He made us feel comfortable to the point we decided to stay. Repeatedly Mr. Patrick apologized throughout the night of our dinner, And for that we really appreciated the hospitality. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH Mr. PATRICK. I hope all is well and hopefully when I come and visit we will meet again! You are truly a good person and you deserve nothing but the best. Words can not describe how much pain we felt hearing the N word being dropped repeatedly. It hurt to the core! The way Patrick made us feel after feeling humiliated was very heartfelt. I pray his hard work doesn't go unnoticed. If you are reading this you we will forever be in our prayers. We are truly grateful!

Came here for lunch with a friend. Classic Ruth Chris decor and menu . We ordered Filets, Mac and cheese and the Brussels . As usual , perfectly cooked and the side were fabulous . Really can't go wrong here , especially with the TVs at the bar and Greta service

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! I had low expectations of ordering delivery from a steakhouse, but did not expect it to be this bad. I ordered my ribeye medium rare, but most of it was actually just raw. I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning from it. And, last time I checked, 'au gratin' potatoes does not mean boiled cubes of potatoes covered in cheese whizz. I would have been better off buying it from Trader Joe's.

Very disappointed with service and portion of food I received. After delivering food all evening I thought I would end my night at RC. I delivered a lobster Mac /cheese and they had larger take out tray I received a smaller containers than which means my portion is smaller. The hostess and/or manager insulted my intelligence and tells me the container is smaller but it's the same amount. That is incorrect and I showed her a picture of my previous exact order. I know for a fact the children pint containers was not the same portion. Could it have been I was not dressed up?... I don't know but I do know I was robbed of $50 Cheese not melted... Look at the pics of a month ago vs tonight. No way to end the year!

Ruth's Chris is my new go to restaurant when ever I want to impress my colleagues! I needed to take several colleagues out to dinner. We all love a good steak so I decided on Ruth's Chris in Jersey City. I knew our experience there would be great but I underestimated how great such a dinner could be! I had made a reservation and we were all there on time. The manager was extremely welcoming and our table was ready, so we were seated without any waiting. In no time at all, our waiter came to our table and introduced himself. His name is Scott and he was quite funny yet extremely informative and professional. He had a certain star quality about him and endeared himself to all of is within minutes. He just knew how to make us all feel at ease and engaged us all in friendly banter throughout the evening during his visits to our table. He wasn't in any way intrusive but was a welcome part of our evening and dining experience. You know ... It's the little things... While we were ordering, two of my colleagues started teasing me for liking Ketchup on my steak. This made me uncomfortable and when Scott asked if we needed anything else brought to the table, I couldn't bring myself to ask for the Ketchup. But before the steaks came out, Scott came over to the table to clear some dishes away and he casually put a stainless steel creamer pitcher next to my plate, with a wink. No body noticed. When I looked inside, it was Ketchup! I loved this man! But another surprise came at the end of the meal. My assistant paid the check and added wrong, giving Scott an extra $200 in his tip. Scott stopped her at the door and informed her of the mistake. That was unexpected. Honesty like that is hard to find! Naturally the food was stellar -- it always is! -- but the service we received from Scott, was exceptional. The others felt this too. Everyone was impressed and we wished we could take him with us to our next stop. He truly felt like an integral part of our evening. Scott, we will all be back asking for you!!!

The food in a Jersey City location is amazing. And the service people went above and beyond. we came here for a nice romantic dinner and the ambiance lighting makes it perfect and not too low where you can see your food and very clean one of the cleanest locations I've been to

We went to celebrate an important milestone. We heard good things and set a reservation after work Friday. Ruth's is close to the PATH (turn left on Wash St.). Expecting a similar experience to Edwards or Liberty Prime, but it was closer to Morton's so wear your casual Friday gear. The ladies in the front were helpful and welcoming. We were seated and started planning out the meal. Ordered a wine and cocktail. The wine list is graded from light, medium, heavy bodies from top to bottom. So if you're in the mood for a light red, pick the top options. We ordered the heirloom tomato, porterhouse steak for two (medium rare), creamed spinach and sweet potato casserole (recommended by Yelpers) sides and white chocolate bread pudding to close. We found the tomato ok. The slices were large so you may need to cut them smaller and it could use more motz. The spinach was also ok. The casserole was divine! Sweet but not overwhelming (good job Yelpers). The porterhouse was yummy, tasty with a slight crust, very well prepared. Heed the warning from the staff, the plates are hot, and so is the steak. Let is cool for a few minutes before diving in. The porterhouse was just slightly rare for us but not a show stopper. Overall it is a really good steak. Desert. Fin. We loved the experience! The staff is solid, friendly, helpful and very professional. They made our experience enjoyable and memorable. Great job to everyone. Ruth Chris gets a very big recommendation!

Steakhouses are always a go-to for special occasions. I've never been to a Ruth's before but decided to try it out since my boyfriend and I were celebrating an anniversary. We called and found out that outdoor dining would begin on the exact day we wanted to celebrate - perfect! Drinks were delicious and strong. We started off with the spicy shrimp, which ended up being jumbo shrimp completely tossed in that creamy spicy sauce. I was almost stuffed after eating my half. I had the filet cooked medium and it was slightly overdone, but not that big of an issue to me. I usually get mashed potatoes but decided to switch things up with the au gratin. I'm used to seeing thinly sliced potatoes so I was surprised when I went in with my fork and picked up cubed ones. I was curious over whether they might be undercooked - but no, there's a reason it's marked on the menu as a favorite. It was gloriously cheesy and well seasoned. I could easily eat a plate of this lol. Service was fantastic, our server was attentive and never let our glasses get empty. The manager also came by and checked in on us. Overall great experience.

We have been celebrating my mom's birthday every year at Ruth's and always have had a good time and the food is always great. My birthday was yesterday and I decided to order a few dishes and have them delivered and what a mess it was. First, it took 1.5 hr till it arrived. All the dishes were cold and so little amount of food for the high price you pay. 4 shrimps for $21 is insane. So little salad, literally portioned for one person only. Overall disappointed especially since it was my birthday.

Wow the food was horrible. Pre covid 19 it was better. The current changes with the economy and laws has made a difference. Our server seemed high and out of it. The steaks were dry and bad quality. The creamed spinach was watery, the service was awful and slow, while being empty. Overall horrible.

Had an amazing experience here! Went with my boyfriend and we were truly treated with the best service I have ever had. Tyler was our server and delivered a wide variety of recommendations along with his high patience of accommodating our preferences. The manager is so welcoming and added to this beautiful dining experience. Thanks again for an amazing experience, we will be back!

**DISCLAIMER: We thoroughly enjoyed the food, our waiter & the manager** My family and I came here for an early dinner to celebrate my parents birthday. Our server London and the manager Robert were very kind and attentive (London even went above and beyond to find colored pencils for the kids to color when they ran out of crayons). I will say that the service was a bit slow. Our appetizers arrived at a reasonable time, but our entrees took quite some time to come out of the kitchen. I will say that once the food came out, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Both my parents enjoyed their salmon - they said it was cooked to perfection. I can say the same about the porterhouse. My boyfriend and I ordered it medium rare and it was just perfect - from the temperature to the seasoning. Delicious. We ended our meal ordering a few desserts and coffees. Again, it took some time for our order to come out. By this time everyone was getting fussy and was ready to leave. When our desserts finally arrived, I asked for the check right away so we could leave. Overall, if you have the time I would recommend this place. **** BUT I will say this - I did have a negative experience right before we left with one of the other waiters and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. By the end of our meal, it was a bit busier than when we initially arrived. I already paid for our meal, but I wanted to take one last look at the itemized receipt, just to double check that I wasn't charged for something we did not receive (which I was). I saw that our waiter was busy with another party, so we kindly asked another waiter, who, in the most unfriendly manner, said "I am NOT your waiter, only your waiter can get you the itemized receipt. Do I LOOK like your waiter? I don't know if I should be offended or not." (He mentioned this because they were the same race.) As he walked away. This was not said jokingly. I was so taken aback by his comments. I have never encountered such a rude waiter in my life. All we simply asked for was the itemized receipt. I have never had an issue when asking for a receipt at any other establishment, whether it be at a casual restaurant, fine dining, or a Michelin star. I would have given this establishment a better review if it weren't for this experience. We, in no way, shape, or form thought he was our waiter and there was absolutely no need for his rude remarks - & for that, my family and I will not be returning.
