The MICHELIN Guide Hungary 2025 Is Out!

"Run by the friendly couple Dávid and Fanni in Budaörs, this intimate little restaurant showcases Dávid’s passion for traditional family recipes and childhood memories; Fanni welcomes guests while Dávid cooks dishes that have a feel-good factor and are complemented by the stories that complete the experience, earning him the Young Chef Award for 2025." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

"Three hours pass in a flash at this intimate little restaurant, which is proudly run by a friendly couple. Dinner starts at 7pm, with Fanni welcoming guests and looking after their every need. Dávid, meanwhile, is behind the scenes preparing a very personalised 10-course set menu that combines classic Hungarian favourites with family recipes and his childhood memories. Dishes have a feel-good factor, from fried bread drizzled with bacon fat followed by mama’s grilled chicken to an isler sponge cake – and David tells their story to the room as he brings them out of the kitchen or finishes them at the table." - Michelin Inspector

Very excellent, Michelin recommended restaurant. A little bit away of the centre of Budapest (30 min by bus). But every minute of the ride was worth it to enjoy the evening. The service is excellent. You can choose from a la carte from a handful ingenious meals. Live music and looking into the kitchen framing this wonderful experience. We will come back at our next Budapest trip.

This was our second time in Rutin. I liked it even better than the first time. The food was excellent, and the service was also very attentive. If you are looking for casual fine dining and really brings exciting flavours this is a great place to visit. The desserts look like art pieces, and they also taste amazing. If you wanna try just the deserts (not the same ones, but from the same creator) you can visit near by Mimi's belonging to the Chefs.

Rutin" means "routine" in English, and the guys at this little restaurant do indeed routinely make excellent stuff. It is one of the few oases in the culinary desert in and around Budapest. It's located in Budaörs - a town on the western edge of Budapest where absolutely nothing happens. Except that the sidewalks are raised around 8 p.m. in summer. The German menu is human, and he took his time to explain everything to the decidedly indecisive ladies. The thing I liked best was the interesting new (and light) interpretation of very classic Hungarian dishes - not an easy thing to do, considering that this type of food was created for farm workers and is usually heavy and calorie-dense by nature. The wine list is short and not only includes some foreign wines (very rare in HU), but also omits the usual suspects. Prices are at the upper end of Hungarian middle class restaurants, but you will be hard pressed to find better quality for that amount.

Fantastic food, outstanding decor, wonderful hosts. Highly recommended. The value for money is superb. They offer a very ambient and intimate experience where each course is accompanied by a story of the chefs childhood. In addition to the creative and delicious food I was blown away by their wine pairing. I'm not a wine person and have never really understood or appreciated it, but, this particular selection helped me to understand it way better. We will definitely be returning at some point.
