The atmosphere is cute and Jennifer was awesome. My roommate got the Cab Burger mac n cheese, and a bowl of French onion soup as well. I had chicken tenders and fries. Their menu is pretty interesting and has a lot of fantastic options. Personally, for me, the fries came out a little on the cooler side, as I'd they were sitting too long, and the tenders weren't as crispy as I felt they could be on the outside. However, the tenders internally were PERFECT!! My roommate said the Mac n cheese was the best he's ever had, and that bowl of French onion soup was gone before I could blink! It was a hit! The burger was awesome as well. I do believe we will be back in the future!

We arrived at 11am but didn’t go in until 11:15. We were looking for a “brunch” spot. Instead we found the best food!! Indigo was our server. She was great with staying on top of our beverages and making sure we had everything we needed. I had the Blue Burger and my husband had the grilled chicken sandwich. We also had the Spinach dip. I cannot even put into words how fantastic it all was. My buger was cooked perfectly. The caramelized onions were both sweet and savory. The blue cheese crumbles gave it just the perfect bite. I would give them a 10 star if I could. My husband and I were discussing that we wouldn’t necessarily want to visit Charleston again but we would just to eat here again!

Google
The turkey burger was fantastic! It was cooked perfectly. The tenders were moist and cooked perfectly, too. Very good breading. The French fries are also seasoned very well. I would love to come back during Happy Hour and try the veggie spring rolls. 😋

Loved the character of the building! Cool place! Friendly atmosphere and service! We had a super friendly greeting! Our waitress was new but she was absolutely adorable! Great attitude! However the food was not high quality and a bit disappointing unfortunately! BUT it was for my mom’s birthday and she loved everything!!!!! That’s the important part! And our sweet waitress gave mom a complimentary birthday dessert!!$

Google
This is a great restaurant! My husband loved his Reuben sandwich! Another in the party loved her salad! I ordered a hamburger medium well done, but it arrived quite burnt around all edges of the patty and a lot of the top and bottom of it as well too, more than well done. Another in the party ordered a hamburger medium, and it was definitely cooked to well done (zero pink inside and some signs of burning on one side of the patty. So my suggestion is to order burgers less well done than you prefer. The fries, and sweet potato fries, and chicken strips and kids noodles were enjoyed by all. Server was polite, though we did have to track her down for more water a few times. But I would return to this place and give it another try.

Burger was excellent, bartender was attentive and cool. He made sure I had what I needed and had good recommendations. The restaurant was big and had a great vibe. If you’re in Charleston and looking for a burger this is your spot. Get the old fashioned as well👍🏿

Google
Came with my co-workers for lunch. The atmosphere and decor was pretty cool. Our server was really nice starting out. We had 6 guests, 5 burgers and 1 salad. We waited over an hour after we ordered just for them to be over cooked and a few dry and burnt. I personally won't be back.

Google
The food was alright but a little pricey. The staff was friendly for the most part. My wife had to drink from my glass because the wait staff was busy, and we could not get a refill quickly enough. I had the Shrimp n Grits. It was tasty, just not many shrimp in the bowl. Pleasant atmosphere, probably will not return.

Yelp
Ordered takeout, and it was pretty seamless. The restaurant has a cute bar, which they let me sit at while I waited for my food and gave me a glass of water while I waited. There are plenty of tables and booths on the side for people to sit at, and it's pretty private since I didn't realize the place was full until I took my time to look around. The bar area was empty, but the tables were packed with people. The burger I got was delicious as well as the fries. I did not remember to ask for condiments and did not receive any, so I definitely need to remember to do that, but it was still quite tasty.

Yelp
I love the soup and sandwich. Just the right combination for a light meal. Talk about service.... My daughter arrived during a downpour and dropped us off at the front door so we didn't get wet, before parking. One of the staff took an umbrella out to the parking spot and escorted her from the parking spot to the front door, so she didn't get wet. Awesome sauce! Whole atmosphere is friendly. Great place to eat

Yelp
Came here today for brunch with a large group and I was shocked that it ended up being our favorite meal we had in Charleston this weekend! Reservations were easily made on Resy, and the table was set and ready for our group of 11 when we arrived. The staff and service here was top notch. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful and had a smile on. We ordered my toddlers cheese quesadilla and grilled veggies as soon as we sat down (because a hangry toddler = day ruined). It came out super quick and honestly I could not believe how GOOD IT WAS. The veggies were DELICIOUS. Whatever seasonings they used were just absolutely amazing. And as ridiculous as it may sound - the cheese quesadilla was fantastic too. The tortilla was crispy and had a crisp cheese coating on the outside that perfectly complimented the gooey cheese. I was secretly mad my toddler got to enjoy this deliciousness and not me I had the chicken fingers and fries. The chicken tasted hand battered (not frozen), and the fries were SO good. Crispy and golden - just how I like them. My husband ordered the fish tacos and said they were his favorite meal he had this weekend. The mimosas were great, and they had quite a large selection of brunch cocktails which was nice. Overall, I would classify this is a MUST visit while in the area. Loved the mid century vibe of the decor. Loved the food. Loved the service. Will definitely return when I am in Charleston again!!

Yelp
I have heard a lot about the Rutledge Cab Company Restaurant over the past few years. Today I decided to give it a try. I must stay I was not impressed with the food. I ordered the Hamburger with sweet potato fries. When I received my food the hamburger was really uncooked and the fries were cold and soggy. The service was good. It is a quant little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Price point is good and normal for the Charleston area restaurants.

Yelp
Perfectly fine, perfectly mid, rather overpriced place on the outskirts of downtown. We started right, fried pickles were good (though obviously frozen from a bag), cookie & cream milkshake was super on point. I had the grilled chicken salad and the chicken was dry, there was extremely minimal blue cheese and bacon on it, it had very little flavor overall, and I think it was around $18? The gf had steak frites, the steak was pretty tender and cooked right, but had zero flavor to it other just being a basic slab of beef (no "crust" or signs of a proper searing), the fries looked great but didn't have any flavor, didn't even seem to have salt on them, and weren't crispy. Ambience and service were really nice. It's unique vibe in here, though the playlist is quite literally the top radio hits of 1992-1996, so prepare for a lot of Nirvana, RHCP, and Blind Melon. As I often have to say in reviews of the Charleston food scene, "price sets expectations" and when a lunch for two costs over $100 after tip I expect to be blown away... instead I found myself thinking that the last time I got a salad at Zaxbys it was far better and much cheaper, by at least a third if not more. Just like an $18 burger shouldn't lose to a $6 Whopper, an $18 salad should not come up short compared to a $10 Zaxbys salad, who will give me 10x the cheese and have much juicier, flavorful chicken. Yelp
I'm so hungover and it was painfully hot in their sunroom seating area. The salad was just what I needed. Wouldn't say the salmon or quinoa were particularly impressive. The mandarin oranges and cashews tasted amazing in the salad. The service was great. Polite and silly staff

Yelp
We went here for dinner last night! My husband and I both got a burger and they were so delicious. I had the classic and he had the bleu cheese burger and we were both very impressed. I really like when restaurants allow you to choose how you want your burger to be cooked. It allowed me to get my burger medium and his more well done which accommodates different tastes. The service was good. Our food and drinks came out quickly. This restaurant is located in a nice area with convenient parking. This is a great place if you are looking for a casual dinner.

Yelp
Exciting place to eat with family and friends. Loved my servers and time here. Nice people, great menu variety, and quick service. Store's visual atmosphere is decent but the employee's kind nature compensates for that. Might return soon!

Yelp
A local staple with good burgers and sand which's. I have had the Reuben and a salad during my visits. Both were very good. The onion soup is also tasty.

Yelp
The food's alright. Service is ok. I had to complain just for water. I feel like I'm at a train station. And The ambiance is alright. I can't lie It's nice, they have very good prices, Especially happy hour! Amazing crunch! Also very good place for kids! Paul was very nice!

Yelp
I'm having a hard time believing I've never written a review for Rutledge Cab! Hands down BEST REUBEN in town! No joke, just go and have one. They also have good burgers and a couple good salads. But, it's hard for me to go and not have the Reuben. Full bar and a great cocktail menu, they also make a kicking margarita! They allow pets on the "patio" which isn't really outside, but awesome! We've never had a bad meal or bad service here, ever.

Yelp
We live in Wagner terrace and decided to check this spot out for brunch. Simply awful. Served weak and flavorless coffee. I ordered the steak and eggs special and it was completely inedible. The one scrambled egg didn't have salt, the steak was over cooked and the sauce tasted like an over salted Denty Moore tv dinner. I didn't eat it, and I pushed the plate to the side. The server didn't ask to remove it or get me something else instead. We only saw her about 3 times. She dropped the check and charged us for the steak and eggs. I asked her to take it off because I didn't eat it, and she only took off 1/2 of the item I didn't eat 1/2 of. Here's a picture of the meal I didn't eat.

Yelp
We went here for a large group happy hour and it was honestly so great!! Our server was fun and food was delicious!! It was an awesome spot for a happy hour!! FRIES 12/10!!

Yelp
I used to give this place 5 stars but after the significant turn over in staff, the quality of food seems to have declined. Their burgers are incredibly greasy. I'm talking, the entire bun is soaked and dripping down your hand. This isn't a one time experience, but unfortunately consistent in the last couple of years. The flavors aren't there anymore. The food lacks the appropriate seasoning and I know they have changed their fries at least seven times. No one can ever seem to nail down quality food here. It has its own parking lot but there is overflow. This is located on the outskirts of downtown in a quiet neighborhood and is right next to Container Bar (shared owners). If you're looking for something quick and easy, this is the spot. If you're looking to be impressed by the food I would look elsewhere.

Yelp
Rutledge Cab Company is a cool restaurant located near the downtown area of Charleston. As you arrive your first thoughts will be about the uniqueness of the design and layout of the restaurant inside and out! There is that old-timey diner feel, with a modern twist. There is a large covered outdoor seating area and very cozy & intimate feel for the inside. It was a slightly rainy day when I had visited, and it almost felt like I was in a movie. I had very high expectations for the food from things I've read online and just my overall first impression from finally seeing the restaurant in person. And there was no disappointment there. The menu is not too big and easy to navigate, which is something I very much appreciate. It is filled with all kinds of unique dishes and some great sharable items as well. I was out with a friend, and we ordered Tuna poke Roll, and the Hot Honey Shrimp as a shareable starter and it was the perfect amount for the both of us. Both items came out hot, fresh and delicious. For my main course it was a toss-up between the Shrimp and grits or the Cab Co Classic Burger, which was served on an English muffin. I ended up with the burger and a side of sweet potato fries. Everything was perfect, I just wish that the bacon was slightly crispier, but it was still very good, and bonus points it was candied bacon. Between the awesome location, cool design, fun menu and awesome wait staff. Rutledge Cab Co is a great place to meet up with friends to have an amazing dining experience. Visited 25 May 2023

Yelp
Average bar food, service was fine albeit a little slow considering the restaurant & bar were not full.

Yelp
As a burger snob, I was very excited to try out this spot. From the welcoming ambiance to the wonderful and friendly service and the delicious food, it was a great experience! I got the Classic Cab burger and sweet potato fries. Everything was hot with delicious flavors!! I'd love to go back to try more! Shoutout to Jennifer our wonderful waitress!

Yelp
The old fashion was so well made and not watered down at all. The shrimp po-boy shrimp were massive and bread was toasted perfectly. My kids loved their burger and chicken tenders so definitely a return visit in the future. Waitress was so sweet!

Yelp
Went here with a friend and split a couple of the appetizers and they were good! Definitely a good, chill, spot.

Yelp
Rutledge Cab Company is a no- nonsense "neighborhood" kind of place and in a convenient location ~ close to area bridges and I-26. Nicely located in the upper peninsula ~ at the intersection of Rutledge Avenue and Mt Pleasant Street...clearly away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston,...Rutledge Cab Company has an onsite parking lot which makes your visit even more convenient! An all day all night food menu with a good range of items are available. RCC has both Indoor and outdoor seating. The extensive bar area with several flat screen televisions will keep the sports enthusiast occupied. While taking in the game, try the Bar Snacks menu consisting of Loaded fries, Bruschetta, Veggie Spring Rolls and Brisket Sliders. When's half time??? I'm hungry! The menu consists of shareable plates, main entrees including shrimp and grits and seared flounder~ soups/ salads, burgers and sandwiches. As a delicious finish to your meal top it off with one of RCC's milkshakes--- orange creamsicle anyone?? Spiked Shakes are available here also--- dreamsicle anyone?? Service is friendly and efficient. You will feel very welcome.

Yelp
The food!! Definitely must try this spot! Service has always been spot on and they are so friendly! I love that is so close to Cormac in the NoMo area.

Yelp
The food is pretty good but the service was lacking a bit but the ambiance is actually amazing I am not gonna to lie the honey sauce was disgusting and hot but the shrimp was good

Yelp
This place is great! my husband and i were looking for a place that had turkey burgers on the menu when came upon this restaurant. the turkey burgers are some the best i have ever had, they juicy and flavorful. I highly recommend this place for great service and great food.

Yelp
We had a great lunch here yesterday. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were promptly seated. Brandy took care of us and was great about refilling my husband's drink (he drinks unsweetened tea like there is no tomorrow). My husband and I both got the cab burgers and my dad got the red eye. All burgers were cooked the way we had requested and were delish. I love their fries too-crispy on the outside but perfectly soft on the inside. Can't wait to go back and try the mahi tacos!

John P.

Yelp
Let me tell you I came in last week for a quick lunch and sat at the bar and had an absolutely delightful experience with a bartender named Summer. She was friendly efficient and made my whole dining experience. Wonderful I highly recommend Rutledge Cab Company .
google avatar

Jack J.

Yelp
Burger enthusiast here and I was excited to finally try this burger I've heard good things about. It was so disappointing I don't know where to start. Sixteen dollars for a plain burger that had little to no seasoning and tasted dry. Flavorless! My wife agreed that hers was lame as well. The fries were a shoulder shrug B-. Wasted money tonight and we won't go back. If you're a fan of burgers, pick anywhere but here.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday dinner with friends and a little disappointed that I did. We had reservations for 7:30 but the table wasn't ready and we had to wait about 15 minutes. Our server was not nicest and was somewhat hard to come by. The food however was not bad. Our group got sweet potato fries as a appetizer which had a perfect crunch to soft ratio and were pretty darn good. I got the shrimp tacos which were also good besides the fact that they come in a flour tortilla (?) but I'm from San Diego so I might be picky about tacos! My friends seemed to like the mahi tacos and the market salad. They brought out key lime pie on the house for a birthday dessert which I thought was alright but I'm not a fan of key lime. My friends enjoyed it though! The atmosphere inside was down to earth and comfortable. Giving Rutledge 3/5 for disappointing service but good food.

Yelp
Marco (bartender) was phenomenal. Had the Reuben egg rolls, shrimp tacos and a burger (promise not all me) ;) everything was delicious but Marco made it even more enjoyable. Great conversation!!!! Still talking him into becoming a Yankees fan over the Dodgers but we at least agree to hate the Red Sox and Astros. :)
google avatar

Krystal G.

Yelp
First time here, first time trying Reuben Eggrolls! Wow!! They are so tasty!! Definitely going here again. They were busy but not overly busy. We sat at the bar, service was good, chill vibe. Very pleased trying this place out!

Yelp
Went for Brunch. Food and service was excellent! Corned beef hash was best I ever had.
google avatar

Blake R.

Yelp
A cozy neighborhood spot with good food and service. It can get crowded and a bit loud on busy days.
google avatar

Robin W.

Yelp
Sooooo I usually really like this place, especially the drinks. This time the food nor drinks were that good. Our waitress started off attentive then veered off to other conversations, eating food ( yes...we saw you), enjoying her work family and maybe helping other patrons. The place was not busy or packed. My beloved Diamond Dame drink did not make it through the rough and never became a Diamond- instead I received this flat, flavorless imposter. My friend stands strong on those okra fries but this time it was a chore to eat. Usually this is her #1 choice, today it has moved to the #6 spot. Thank you for the previously good food and drinks, here's hoping you reclaim your #1 go to spot.

Yelp
This was a great spot away from the city! We made reservations for 8pm for 4 and had no problem getting a table on a Friday night. I started with the French Onion soup. This was seriously the BEST French Onion soup I've ever had!! Ever! It costs $10 and is so big that it could be shared with multiple people. If you're coming here for the first time, you need to order one for sure! As an entree, I ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich with a side of Mac n Cheese. The Crab Cake sandwich was huge and flavorful. The Mac n Cheese was very good as well!! My husband ordered the Shrimp Burger which I had to have a bite of. It was also delicious. Service was super fast. This restaurant is a bit loud and echos so be prepared. They are great for parties of all sizes and have free parking in the parking lot outside. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for all ages!
google avatar

Victor H.

Yelp
We rolled up here for dinner after bar hopping and were quite pleased with our experience. We were seated promptly and always had drinks in our hand while we waited for eats. I ordered the fish tacos and veggies. Although they weren't the best I've had, they were quite tasty. Others ordered classic burgers which I probably should've ordered but I didn't want to get stuffed. Plus I had to save room for more liquids if you know what I mean. I wouldn't mind coming back here Im when I'm back in Charleston. And I'll definitely try that burger next time!
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
We stopped in to grab a bite while visiting Charleston. Everyone loved their food, the chicken sandwich and burgers here are delicious!

Angie M.

Yelp
First time visiting and won't be the last. Food was delicious, service great, easy parking on premises

Chris B.

Yelp
Great meal and service. Very close to The Citadel. Went there with my cadet and family. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
Overall ok. Could use improvement. The single patty hamburger at $16 with fries was disappointing. $16 is definitely steep for a single 4 oz patty, considering places like five guys gets you a textbook double 4 oz patty with unlimited toppings and enough fresh hand cut fries for 3 people for less than $15. My sever asked me how I wanted it cooked, but since it's so thin it's kind of irrelevant. Cheese, and other toppings are extra so it could become $20 quickly. My friend also ordered the burger and agreed it was nothing to write home about. Fries are frozen, coated & seasoned. However they crisp up well. My wife's fish tacos had prev frozen fish. No reason for that In Charleston. The good- Happy hour was nice and had a few diff options at $5 ranging from bourbon to wine to a few apps. The shrimp app was tasty and a great value. Service was excellent. Plenty of parking. Lots of windows inside and there was an upbeat crowd. In conclusion. Charleston desperately needs a place that can do burgers as well as Boxcar Betty's does chix sandwiches.
google avatar

Patti D.

Yelp
One of the better burgers you'll find in the Charleston area. Been here several times and is fairly consistent but you may want to order a little under the way you like it cooked as sometimes they can be cooked a little more than they should be. Nice menu selections if you're not in the mood for a burger. Today, my sister ordered the Reuben and she was very pleased with it. She thought it was absolutely delicious and was comparable to New York delis. Whenever you order a burger or sandwich, you get your choice of a side with no upcharge for things like sweet potato fries which is a nice change. Big place with lots of seating options and a parking lot which is always a plus in Charleston. Management even came over to check on our meal and make sure everything was good.
google avatar

Anelee M.

Yelp
2nd visit here. They have changed the menu since my last visit and their service has been consistently pleasant. I tried the duck confit, the skin with crispy and salted to perfection. It was a spin off of southern cooking meets France. The flavors took me on a tour in relations flavor. Relaxed setting with good food. I will return.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Rutledge doesn't have a huge list of different names of burgers to choose from but you can pretty much build whatever you want. I had a delicious burger with caramelized onions. At first glance I thought they had forgotten the onions and I was going to be disappointed but they were actually just melted under the cheese. They also had really good fries as well, honestly a delicious meal overall. Our waitress was nice, food was quick but I will recommend making reservations not just here but to everywhere in Charleston.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Came here with a group of girls for a late Friday night dinner. We arrived and we're quickly seated for our reservation. The enclosed patio was great! Loved the ambiance and it was very comfortable. We quickly got our drinks and food. Since I was visiting from out of town I tried a local orange beer and it was delicious. I had the chicken salad which was great and not too heavy. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food. I look forward to coming back to try more options the next time I'm in SC.

Hunter K.

Yelp
Sat at the bar and had a great time with Max. Too tier service, phenomenal drinks, and a great ambiance. He's funny and easy to talk to. Will be back on Sundays to see him!
google avatar

Nuke N.

Yelp
Atmosphere not that great. Service, waitress was good .I appreciate that the burger was charred grilled but still it had no flavor the fries were garbage. I won't be returning
google avatar

Hayden W.

Yelp
The food took an hour to arrive at our table, which disappointed us in the speed of the service; despite the atmosphere being decent at most. When ordering sausage links as a side, they were "out of sausage" and replaced it with bacon instead of asking which side I would prefer. When asked I requested the burger to be medium well, but at best it was burnt to a crisp. Chef Gusto once said, "Anyone can cook", but I think he was wrong.

Lester R.

Yelp
We had a group of 44 so we made reservations a few days ahead of Wednesday at 6:00pm. We called a few hours ahead of time to see if we needed to pre-order and the receptionist said she would send a text menu in a few minutes. It never happened. We showed on time, we're seated, and orders were taken. After 3 hours 15 minutes 1/3 of our people still didn't have food. It was a horrible experience. The servers continued to apologize, but no food. I was one of the lucky ones and got my burger after about an hour, which was very good. At 9:15 pm we asked for rest of the orders to go. They people that had not eaten did get food in the bags to go. Not sure what?

Jimmie C.

Yelp
Rutledge Cab Co. was a delightful. We went during lunch while in Charleston for Mother's Day weekend. The food was so flavorful. The presentation and seasoning made our dining experience wonderful. Our waiter was personable, knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations. We highly commended the chef because the quality of the seafood (shrimp, grouper and cod) were excellent. We were excited to learn that our chef was the head chef, who prepared our meals. The icing on the cake occurred when the head chef, Mirlin, came to our table. After giving her high accolades about our lunch, she spoke about the importance of quality food and allowing the food to "speak for itself". We highly recommend Rutledge Cab Co. and look forward to our next visit. They have a variety of selections and based upon meeting the head chef, all selections should be impeccable. Thank you Mirlin! We'll return to Rutledge Cab Co. during our next visit to Charleston!

Michael M.

Yelp
Atmosphere was great, very relaxing for a Sunday lunch! I got the red-eye burger, but they let me sub a grilled chicken breast for the burger. They fulfill almost any special request! The seasonal veggies were great too, and good portion size.

Ann R.

Yelp
Was good, but the waitress was inattentive. We had a Cab Spin dip special -- very garlicky, but we like garlic! I had a chicken Caesar and it was good. Husband had a BYO burger and it was undercooked. Small attention to details would have given this a five star.
