Don’t be thrown off by the location! I was outside and almost didn’t go in because it’s a hole in the wall in a residential neighborhood. That would have been a big mistake!! I got the boat noodles (beef) as suggest other reviewers. Even on one of the hottest days of the year the warming spices in the broth hit the spot. The meatballs and veggies were a nice touch. Would definitely get that next time. But the highlight for me was the mussel pancake. Unlike anything I’ve had in a long time, it was fantastic! The mussels popped with flavor and the sauce served with it was a nice compliment to the fried batter. It was served with plenty of scallions and cilantro to freshen up the flavors. It was surprisingly light for what is essentially savory funnel cake. The waiter recommended that appetizer and sure enough it was listed under MUST TRY on the menu. Very authentic restaurant with friendly staff. Stop here and you won’t be disappointed! Parking is easy despite the location.

Google
Easy online ordering dor takeout. Staff very nice. Place is very small, but homey. (No AC , So tough in the summer) parking a bit challenging. I ordered Pra Khing, vegetables- decent flavor (not just spicy) a little fishy for me - likely fish sauce. Id give it another try and try another dish.

If you’re looking for authentic Thai food in Bridgeport, look no further than Ruuthai Kitchen. This place is hands down one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to – not just in the area, but anywhere. The food is absolutely delicious. Every dish I’ve tried bursts with rich, balanced flavors, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of spice. Whether you’re getting a classic like Pad Thai, something comforting like their green curry, or exploring their specials, you really can’t go wrong. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. It’s the kind of spot that feels like a hidden gem – you come once, and you’ll definitely want to come back. Highly recommended for anyone craving high-quality Thai cuisine in Bridgeport. Ruuthai Kitchen truly stands out.

Google
First time taking out was very good, I had to dine in to try other food they have. Customer service and food is amazing. 100% recommended.

Google
Very delicious thai food. Boat noodles are spicy, with some warm spice undernote. Saku sai moo the tapioca dumplings are nutty savory and sweet. You can find some Thai dishes not normallly seen in other Thai restaurants

Google
To be honest, I’ve come here multiple times and only ever had the beef boat noodles😭. The first time I went to Ruuthai’s I ordered it, and on every subsequent occasion I could simply not hold myself back because I craved the taste so much. It’s a unique flavor with a broth that I would drink by itself it’s so good - my preferred way to enjoy it is to loop the noodles into a spoon, filling the crevices with a rich, flavorful broth and plopping a piece of beef or sausage to top it off. The ensuing bite is a heavenly moment that honestly reminds me why life is worth living. The other dishes also look delicious :) 10/10 highly recommend

Google
Pad see ew was amazing. Penang curry was fantastic. Spicy beef salad was outstanding. Spring rolls 😬 Love this place.

Google
I have been going to Ruuthai for almost a decade & usually do pickup.. the food is so delicious and so flavorful. I just have to mention that out of all the times I have had food here.. there have been a few times where there is a hair in my food :( so although I love this place, I can't wrap my head around it. I know these things happen, but please wear a hair net to avoid this. Much love

Yelp
This restaurant delivers excellence every time! I discovered this pleasant place via Yelp. The team makes the space feel inviting. Simply amazing food and service. I'm determined to return soon.

Yelp
Great food! Not where you go for the decor, but food is fantastic. This was our second time here and so we tried some dishes we hadn't tried before. Only repeat was the Tod Mun. Drunken noodles were tasty and spicy. We had to eat with white rice to temper the heat (not a bad thing since that meant we'd get another tasty meal out of it!). Thai style mussels pancake was also tasty. Be ready to dig in with fork and knife, or fork & spoon as we did.

Yelp
Cute little out of the way place. Service was right on key. I had the Pad Thai with Shrimp. The flavor in this was unbelievable so authentic. My guests food came had the Pad aka Praw. He said it was fantastic. I'll have to take his word for it. Unfortunately I got so caught up in the smells and the things in the walls that I forgot to take pictures of the food however I did take pictures of the menu. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely give this place a try

Yelp
I was visiting friends in Bridgeport & had a taste for Thai food. Ruuthai Kitchen is the real deal. Small place very few tables and cute. I did take out Drunken Noodles & shrimp rolls and I was NOT disappointed. I was hungry so forgot the Drunken Noodles photo. I got spice level 3 and it had a great kick. I will definitely come back & I recommend ypu try it.

Yelp
Visited after a long absence for take out. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and the Nua Nam Tok, a spicy dish with beef, lettuce, scallions, shallots, roasted rice and mint, and a Thai iced tea. My order was waiting when I arrived. All was most satisfying, fresh ingredients and generous portions. I still say this is the best Thai Iced tea around. Amazing. Friendly service. Only on street parking in residential neighborhood.
google avatar

Kyle L.

Yelp
Best Thai food in CT. I will die on this hill. The drunken noodle is phenomenal. Cute little spot to eat in or take out.

Yelp
They have boba. I always get their palm juice and drunken noodle. You would be surprised how many folks know about RuuThai in Bridgeport. From RN's to Physical and Respiratory Therapists. Good food is essential.

Paul C.

Yelp
Solid 4 stars. Mains were very good. Everything skews a bit sweet, it seems - maybe I'll add a note about spice in the future. It arrived hot and everything tasted fresh. While not awful, the satay was a bit different than I've typically had - it appeared to be deep fried thigh pieces. Typically satays I've had have been grilled breast meat. They're not bad, just different and a little greasier than I expected. Portions were quite large. Unlike other reviews, our meals had an even distribution of meat and vegetables to noodles. I would definitely order again (maybe I'd ask for more spice).

Yelp
As dedicated Thai food enthusiasts who have experienced authentic Thai cuisine from Bangkok's streets to Jackson Heights' Thai community, and even the vibrant Thai food stalls during our time in Japan, my partner and I have always found Connecticut's Thai restaurants disappointing - too sweet, lacking the essential heat and sourness of genuine Thai cooking. Then we discovered Ruuthai's Kitchen, and everything changed! Drawn in by positive Yelp reviews and the promising sight of a Thai grocery store nearby, we decided to give it a try - and what a revelation it was! This place serves unapologetically spicy Thai food that makes you break into a sweat, just as it should. The aromatic complexity of their herbs and spices is outstanding, and for good reason - they actually grow their own herbs in a garden space right next to the restaurant! This dedication to authenticity absolutely floored us. The lunch special deserves special mention for both its generous portions and remarkable value. We were so impressed that we found ourselves returning multiple times in quick succession. We're already planning our next visit, this time bringing along our Thai food-loving friends who we know will appreciate this rare find. This is truly authentic Thai cuisine that doesn't compromise on traditional flavors and spice levels. Finally, a Thai restaurant that serves food that tastes like it came straight from the streets of Bangkok!

Yelp
The food tasted good, but needs improvement in customer service. It seeks the server is in the rush.. smile little more.. looks grumpy..
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
The food tastes OK but i'm not sure how much actual cooking is going on back in the kitchen There seems more like assembling premade products into their menu items. You should give it a try and decide for yourself

Yelp
Another diamond in the rough. Unexpected location in an area where restaurants and businesses are nowhere to be found, pushing the door sends you to a different universe. Large smile, very fresh food, it was a very relaxing experience. Definitely added to my regular 'go to' places for quick lunch yet tasteful.

Yelp
Hands down favorite Thai restaurant in New England, and Thai is my favorite cuisine to dine out at. The ladies are very kind and welcoming there, and I love the plants and crafty interior of the restaurant. It's modest with cheerful touches. Must order- chicken satay (the most meaty, non-dry satay i've ever had) Coconut shrimp- so crispy and sweet, and I'm usually not one for fried stuff but this is not too greasy for me!

Yelp
Being in the Bridgeport area there are only so many Thai restaurants nearby so decided to grab some food since I was craving some Thai food. Little hole-in-the-wall shop as it's at a corner of the street. Wasn't busy at all and the staff was very friendly when I went to pick it up, even though it was brief. Had the lunch special to go. Pad Thai was flavorful along with everything which tasted fresh. Thin rice noodles mixed well with the tamarind sauce and the tofu had a soft but slightly crunchy, stir-fried texture. Portion is filling. I got the fried wontons as my side, nothing really too special but the sweet, garlic sauce that pairs with it is what makes it tastes good. Definitely, the best Thai restaurant that I have tasted so far in the area, and will be coming back again.

Tori K.

Yelp
I am sick to my stomach. Possibly just turned vegetarian. Everyone check your chicken before eating

Kristin D.

Yelp
Try the veggie dumplings - they will change your life. Food is amazing, service is amazing. Spicy is very spicy but honestly the best Thai outside Bangcock!
google avatar

Patrick R.

Yelp
Little whole in the wall in a neighborhood, where I would not expect a Thai restaurant. Very friendly service. While we were dining in we noticed that most of the people came for take out, or a delivery person came to pick up and order. The place is cozy and clean. When it comes to the food, it's good, but not as we expected. The Pad Thai didn't have the noodles that we usually get at other places. I must say that when I ate my daughters left overs the next day, it tasted beter.

Yelp
It is hard to find AUTHENTIC Thai food but this is it!!! I'm always looking because I fell in love with Thai food when I was in Thailand. Ruuthai's is So amazingly delicious. Because they are authentic their spice level is higher, so make sure you're a little more cautious about the spice level you ask for "hot" here is triple hot. But that is like Thailand! It is little hole in the wall kind of place with the BEST food!!! You have to check it out.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the 'drunken noddles' with Extra pork from the place. And the food was not very good at all! The noodles were too mushy and over cooked. *This review is strictly on the dish I had, not my overall experience with this place. The portions were good and plenty, but unfortunately the food on the other hand was just not tasty. At all!
google avatar

Mouy T.

Yelp
I recently dined at Ruuthai's and had an exceptional experience. The pho, summer rolls, and P7 dish were all incredibly delicious. The flavors were authentic and perfectly balanced. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or family. I highly recommend Ruuthai's for anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine. Yelp
I was craving Thai food and decided to give Ruuthai a try. The food was amazing! We tried the Pad Thai with duck and Drunken noodles with chicken. The portions were very generous (was an easy 2 meals per entree) and so flavorful! The duck was simply excellent. I thought the drunken noodles were a tad too spicy so I would definitely ask to make it more mild next time. Can't wait to try more of their menu!
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
So good! Authentic Tai Food prepared fresh to order. Highly recommend. I had the beef curry, very good. Thank you so much!
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
My Favorite Thai for take out in the area. If you ask for spicy, it will be. Drunken Noodles Chicken & coconut soup is my go to.
google avatar

Michelle O.

Yelp
Not my favorite. The summer rolls were stuffed to the brink with slightly stale looking iceberg lettuce. The sauce was good though. And my pad see ew had noodles that were still white inside, so not fully sauced or cut up. They do give you a lot of food though. The coconut soup wasn't as creamy as other places I've gotten it.
google avatar

Ana S.

Yelp
I was in the area and craving thai food. I saw this restaurant on yelp. I got here at 1:30 pm on Saturday. The place was empty. I think the place is divey. I ordered the chicken pad thai lunch special. It came with a choice of either spring rolls, soup or salad. I choose the coconut soup with my meal. It cost $10.95 reasonable for the amount of food you get. The pad thai tasted great and their soup was so good. The service is great as well. The place is small but can accommodate a small group.
google avatar

Deanna L.

Yelp
Had lunch take out and everyone loved it. It's a small Local place but the food is authentic, flavorful and very delicious and not greasy at all. Papaya salad is very spicy, if you like the heat :) masa man curry is unctuous and satisfying, got the rich curry base, potatoes and peanuts with your choice of protein. See eww noodles are so delicious despite the funny name lol. Basil fried rice was fragrant with Thai basil and the spring rolls were soo fresh and crunchy. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Vanessa N.

Yelp
The best Thai in our area, drunken noodles and pad Thai are absolutely delicious and the crab rangoons and shumai are divine.
google avatar

Barb C.

Yelp
Disappointed. We were hungry after driving 8 hours on a rainy day. I ordered spring rolls and thom kai soup. The soup was just ok. The spring rolls were boring. 2 pieces of shrimp, leaf lettuce, some noodles-very bland. SO ordered udon noodles/tofu ruithai noodles. Again very bland. Yelp let me down!
google avatar

Mas P.

Yelp
My coworker and I went here for work this week. The food was so good. Sorry, no pictures. We had the lunch special which came with an appetizer and entree. We both had crispy spring rolls which were hot and delicious. I had the chicken drunken noodles and she had tofu drunken noodles. We both enjoyed. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Jackeline N.

Yelp
You guys should be ashamed of charging $12,95 for a bowl of rice with 3 pieces of shrimp. Seriously that's crazy. Super dissatisfied will not buy from you again. Ps: they also never sent the spring rolls I ordered. You guys suck!!!
google avatar

Allison W.

Yelp
Favorite Thai take out spot in the area - dine in is available but not really a "date night" atmosphere but nonetheless this food is the closest I have gotten to my time spent in Thailand ! The green curry never lets me down and the pad Thai is filled with all the fresh veggies you can can dream of. Try one of everything, you won't be let down
google avatar

Jess K.

Yelp
Delicious food and wonderful service! I got the appetizer sampler plate and the chicken pad thai. All so good!
google avatar

Chuck D.

Yelp
Excellent food and great service. I've had quite a few items from here and everything is well cooked n delicious.

Yelp
Yup, this is authentic Thai food. It did not blow me away, but it meets the right expectations. The drunken noodles are cooked well, one time they did put a little too much sugar in it (though that might be from their beef). It tasted perfect when I ordered it with chicken. The chicken coconut soup is not what I am usually accustomed to. They add tomatoes and onions, which are okay, but the broth is not as creamy and not spicy. It is on the light tasting side. I don't know which is supposed to be more authentic, but I do like the creamier, spicy version and wish they had it. One big plus is the portion size, when ordering dinner, the drunken noodles can definitely be split into two servings. I think lunch is a little bit smaller, but it comes with a starter. This is good, since there are a handful of Thai restaurants in this area, and this is a good reason to go to Ruuthai's instead.

Yelp
How could I have never done a review for this place? I'm here every time I'm in the area, and will go out of my way for the takeout (and I live right around the corner from another Thai restaurant). For now it's only takeout or delivery, but when it opens up again you'll enjoy the colorfully compact space. Here, everything is consistently good. The duck curry is 2 pepper hot, which just adds a nice pop to the coconut milk, pineapple, cherry tomatoes and tender duck pieces. I'd never had larb before, but CT Bites raved about it. Ruuthai's is an intense, vividly salty version topped with mint leaves. The coconut soup has large slices of chicken, mushroom and tomato quarters - a perfect lunch for a hot day. I can usually find sago in coconut milk and corn or custard topped with kabocha desserts, but alas, they were sold out. They did make me a quick sliced mango and sticky rice while I waited - it must have been that sad look on my face. This place is a hidden gem.
google avatar

Patrice T.

Yelp
I ordered takeout through the yelp app and my food was ready for pickup as soon as I walked in. This place is a gem! I ordered summer rolls, drunken noodle, and basil fried rice with chicken. The fried rice isn't mine so I can't make a review on that. However, I received two summer rolls and honestly, I could only manage to eat one or else I would've been too full to eat my drunken noodle. The portion sizes are big. I didn't get through my entire meal because it was so much. I'll post photos. The summer rolls are delicious and fresh from the veggies inside. The peanut sauce was excellent, the perfect consistency. My drunken noodle, which I got medium heat was cooked to perfection. The basil leaves spread throughout the meal were a treat (I love Thai basil). I'll definitely order from here again!

Yelp
We had a good dinner in this small neighborhood restaurant. Four adults and we got a fried oyster pancake as appetizer, a boat noodle, shrimp red curry and tofu pineapple fried rice. We also thought we ordered a drunken noodle but either we didn't speak clearly or the server didn't hear us but either way, it worked out ok because we were stuffed with the 4 things we got! The oyster pancake was thin and had a bit chewy dough with fried egg on top of bean sprouts. The sweet spicy sauce was great. The red curry came with 7 large shrimps and rice. It wasn't too spicy so I'd go with green curry if you want more kick. The pineapple fried rice was light and yummy with cashews, pineapples, and more veggies. I love the fried tofu in Thai fried rice. The best for me was the boat noodle. It's got pho noodles and has some meat balls and we got the pork version with lots of pieces of meat. Flavor was great and spicy and so hearty. Perfect for a cold night. It was about $12-14 per dish and all were yummy. Don't forget to check in for a free order of vanilla ice cream.

Yelp
Great food in a funky stop. The soup is great and so is the food. I haven't tried the really spicy stuff yet.
google avatar

Julia H.

Yelp
Was in the area so decided to pick up some Thai food. Searched on Yelp and this came up with very high ratings so I decided to give it a try! Ordered 3 lunch specials: - Chicken Pad Thai - Beef drunken Noodles - pork pad ka praw (stir fried string beans, basil and meat) Both noodles were pretty yummy! With the lunch specials, they came with an app, which I had ordered: fried wontons, spring rolls and Tom yum soup. The spring roll and soup was good and I would get again. The wontons I would pass on - nothing great about it, so not worth the calories. The pad ka praw was different as I'm used it be being minced meat, but this one was big chunks of meat. But still good. Overall, it was a great deal! Especially the lunch deals and would come again.

Yelp
They have the best Thai food I have ever had. Very pleasant and calm place. It's a nook in the corner. Every person is welcoming and sweet. I really love them feels like home. I tried almost every dish on their menu other than beef and pork. From entrees like scallion pancake, chicken wings, spring rolls and chicken satay everything is great. I really like spicy basil fried rice and Thai style fried rice options vary with meats you choose. I love love drunken noodles which is spicy and great. All the Thai curries are amazing. They even have the duck curry which is crispy duck with the curry which is a must try. I love their desserts tapioca dessert is the best you can ever get. Sticky rice with mango is also great. I probably visited this place more than 50'times I know their menu haha Must try everything.
google avatar

Tim M.

Yelp
This place is fantastic and consistent. The best Thai food in Bridgeport fairfield area. The noodles are cooked perfectly, with shredded chicken in the drunken noodle dish (spicy). The spicy shrimp thom yum shrimp soup is a spicy sippers dream. And the dumpling thing is like a crispy veggie toast pillow. I had been craving this place since my last order. I'm already craving it again.
google avatar

Aurea S.

Yelp
I had some high hopes for it based on the reviews. My Pad Thai was bland and too sweet. It was also completely empty at lunch time, not a good sign.
google avatar

Wil S.

Yelp
This place is situated in a residential neighborhood in Bridgeport. As such, the atmosphere is less than ideal and parking option is only street side. However, the owners have done an amazing job of making it a fun, colorful, and inviting space. The Tom Yum is quite good. Many Thai places overpower the Tom yum with dry spices that make the broth gritty. This is not the case here. Papaya salad is not overpowered with spice and fish sauce. It's fresh tasting and papaya remains crisp. Beef salad was satisfying. The meat was not too tough often associated with this dish. There was no "jerky" texture. The green curry was on point and very spicy. One of the better green curry dishes in Fairfield County.

Roy K.

Yelp
Great Tom Yung soup. Had drunken noodles with pork and some of my daughter's Kow Soi.......both the best Thai I've had in CT. Nobody comes closes to the high spice level I like except several Indian restaurants I frequent, but Ruuthai's came the closest. Waitperson was great. Food was piping hot, another feature lacking at many places I dine. The bring a spice tray to the table which gives you some options. Neighborhood is not great, but not terrible.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
so delicious. best thai food I've had in Connecticut! everything is authentic and oh so tasty

Ken S.

Yelp
This has got to be the cutest little place in all of Bridgeport! The colors are bright and cheerful and the woman at the counter greeted me with a big smile. I hadn't even heard of Ruuthai's, but I saw it in the program at the Klein Memorial and thought I'd give it a try. I ordered on GrubHub, but went to pick it up to stave off a case of cabin fever. I got two orders of shrimp pad thai and a salad. Two-go dishes can sometimes be skimpy, but the serving of pad thai was quite generous with plenty of noodles, chopped peanuts, and sprouts. They also packed four shrimp in each dish. The salad was the usual offering at a thai restaurant (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrot), but the dressing was a real treat. Usually the peanut dressing can be a bit thick, but Ruuthai's version is a touch lighter and a much better match for a salad. I love that Ruuthai's seems really authentic. All of the food seems to be on point and the setting isn't too fussy. Along with the seating, there is a wall of coolers with to-go items and, apparently, storage. It reminded me of the kind of place we used to seek out when I lived in Boston and each week we'd try a different ethnic restaurant. I am thrilled that we have a bit of that authenticity right here in Bridgeport.

Madison P.

Yelp
Super delicious amazingly tasty authentic Thai food. Cozy spot, welcoming staff and family friendly.

Katerin P.

Yelp
Very nice setting. Love the vibes. Kind service. We ordered bubble tea and it was delicious. Def recommend

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious! We were visiting friends and we literally ate here 3 out of 4 days. Crazy, huh? If you order your food "Thai style" you get more spices and heat. To the regular North American palate, it might be too intense, but find yourself and your preferences accordingly. Look out for the chilli symbols and don't complain if it's too hot. Know your own tolerance level! We loved it! The tom yum noodles are NOTHING like the typical broth. This soup was just bursting with flavours. Sweet, spicy, tangy, savoury... Minced pork, bits of crunchy fried pork, meatballs, fried wontons and of course rice noodles with some bean sprouts. Fan-freaking-tastic. You sweat while eating this because it's temperature hot with a spicy flavour but you honestly can't stop eating it. We tried the boat noodles, drunken noodles, fried rice, pad ka prow, larb, soft shelled crab with mango salad, mussels omelette, pad thai, and a vermicelli dish with shrimp but I can't recall the name. The picture is on the fridge so you can find out there. We polished off each and every dish. The prices are totally reasonable for what you get. I'm from Canada and even with the crummy exchange rate at this time, we felt it was well worth it. It's nice to be able to support a local, family owned business. I wish them success as they truly deserve it. Don't forget to check out all the accolades they've received in the Connecticut area! I wish I ordered the soft shelled crab to eat in the car on my way back north. It's only a six hour drive from Montreal. Until next time!
