On the Grid : Ryleigh's Oyster

"The prized jewel of E. Cross Street where the Orange Crushes flow and the seafood never disappoints. People come from miles to experience their renowned oysters on the half shell and upbeat atmosphere. It's a great place to watch the game and grab dinner with friends, offering plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for guests." - Planit

I'm visiting from Gulf Shores Alabama to see my eldest son and his girlfriend. We had an excellent time! Katie was a wonderful server! The bone-in pork chop was excellent, as was the seafood macaroni and cheese!! Comfortable dining inside, spacious outdoor dining area. I highly recommend it!

We normally come here for happy hour to hangout with long time no see previous co-workers once every couple months. We got a little disappointed for the upcharge on fee with extra 3.5% on bill this time no reason what so ever. And they charged $5 for asking extra bread for the crab dips. Drinks were good as usual the outside area was still nice to hangout, food tasted the same like the quality was there, but this place really went up the price to the point we are going somewhere else for the next happy hour.

The good: Amazing food, fresh oysters, and this has one of my favorite happy hours in the neighborhood. I also love that they have sushi. The food really deserves a 5 star rating. The bad: The service…. Im thinking the service changes depending on where you sit because I’ve only had someone who was nice serve me one time. The inside bartenders were so sweet. I normally sit outside when I come which is where I typically receive service that is not so friendly. I hesitated on making a review because I do love the food. I was there earlier in the week and Kellie served me on the patio. She had this weird energy to her where I felt like she was annoyed at me. I then realized she was upset because I sat myself on accident on the empty patio instead of asking a hostess to seat me outside. She had a very standoffish attitude towards me the entire time. I had to flag her down every time I needed something, such as a refill. I have great manners, so I would say “excuse me, may I….?” At one point when I needed something, and tried to politely get her attention, she turns around and says “Excuse me my name is Kellie if you need anything” while cutting me off mid sentence. She said this very rudely, as if we were on a first name basis. She said this, as if she introduced herself when she first came to the table… She did not. I started off with two oyster appetizers, and then I ordered some sliders for my entrée which she forgot to enter the computer. I had waited a full hour before I asked her where my sliders were at. She told me they were “sent to the next table”. It was finally then when she forgot to ring in my food she finally fixed her face and attitude and all of a sudden became CFA friendly to me. I think I even got a smile towards the end. This isn’t the first time I was treated so strangely here on the patio. Last year, I came for my birthday with my friend. Same situation…. But this was a male server that we had, and he just seemed bothered by us being there. We hadn’t been there for more than 30 minutes and I was mid appetizer, when the gentleman who was working the patio came over and abruptly interrupted and said that we had to move because it was about to rain and they have to move a party into the area that I’m sitting at. He did not look sorry, he did not care, and he said the best I can do for you is take a drink off the check and close your check out. If you wanna continue ordering, you can go inside and ask to be sat at a table. We were so put off that we just left and went to Bluestone, who treated me so well and made up for that horrible experience. I won’t be back any time soon, but for other patrons, please talk to your staff about customer service and being friendly.

Google
Nice time with a friend and grand daughter . The food was pretty good , especially the sushi and shucked oysters. My granddaughter loves the crab pretzel ! Drinks ok, prices reasonable.

Google
Great food, atmosphere, and service. The servers are friendly and quick. The oysters are amazing with a wide variety. Other food menu options are excellent as well. Also great live music on Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays from local cover bands. Highly recommend going to the live music sessions. They have an outdoor patio set up as well, with two (2) outdoor/patio bars. Ample seating throughout.

Google
Honestly, the happy hour prices for the (Avery Pearl) oysters are great (Monday all day, and 3-6pm Monday through Friday). A few of our oysters were completely mangled, but I know it's basically an art to shuck them. We will forgive this, especially at a dollar an oyster. However, the fries were old, and the breading was falling off the calamari. The calamari was not overcooked, which was nice, but the amount on the plate felt very stingy for its cost. Maybe next time we go, things that aren't oysters will be better. Also, something to note. They charge 3.5% extra for any electronic purchases. Prices on the menu are listed for cash prices, which feels a little shady. Just something to think about if you do decide to check this place out.

Loved Everything! I was Craving oysters sooo bad I went to dine alone. I felt very comfortable, the live music was entertaining and the service team was amazing. It was a peaceful vibe after a hectic day. I will definitely be returning!

Google
Went with friends. Got a the calamari, small portion, but fresh and good. I ordered the seafood pizza. Topping was very tasty, but the breading a little too mushy. Waitress was on top of everything. Otherwise, 5 all the way.

Yelp
Great deal on happy hour oysters and delicious food for dinner. Service was excellent.

Yelp
Came here on a random Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised with their awesome Tuesday special- $19 crab cake platter or sandwich! It was a great deal. Tuesdays also have $1 oyster special, lobster roll special, and drink specials! I started with the oysters which could have been shucked a little cleaner, but overall were amazing for a buck a shuck! I couldn't resist having a lobster roll, so I did that. It came with creamy butter on the side which was good but not how I prefer it, but it definitely fixed my craving. The crab cake looked great, and for $19 that's a steal! We sat at the bar in their cute outdoor space and enjoyed pleasant conversation with our bartenders. Overall will be heading back for more Tuesday nights!

Yelp
Everyone loves a good brunch. I stopped by Ryleighs's Oyster on a Sunday after church for brunch. Entering at first is a little confusing because the signage is not readily visible. I would later realize I parked in the back but even the front lacks signage. I'll post pics for reference. Either way there is parking in the front and the back and you can enter from either side. You have the option to sit indoors or outdoor and they have a bar in both areas. My friend and I opted to sit inside. Our server was Addi and she was really nice. She gave us time to look at the menu and answered any questions we had. After surveying the menu I ordered a bottle of the Saratoga sparkling water with lime wedges on the side, a cup of cream of crab and the crab hash for my entree. The soup was delicious but the star of the show was definitely the crab hash. The meal comes in a single serve skillet and consists of potato's (sweet and regular) diced mixed with corn, onions and bell peppers. Topped with crabmeat and mozzarella cheese , seasoned with chipotle and two eggs any style. I opted to have my eggs fried over hard. All the flavors came together so nicely. At first, I didn't see the brunch menu. I was going to order salmon, but I'm so happy that I saw it before I placed my order because I was thoroughly satisfied with the crab hash so much that I plan on returning and will have it again. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is decent. They open at 11am on Sundays and we arrived around 12:30pm it wasn't that packed but they have more than enough seating. I could see this being appropriate for a group, family outing, etc. The prices are reasonable. Both my friend and I ordered the cream of crab. We both had the same entrée. She had a ginger ale and I had the bottle of Saratoga and it was about 60 bucks for the two of us. They do charge a hospitality tax but it was only about $2 and change. Overall great dining experience and I definitely recommend.

Yelp
The best thing about this place was the service. Lots of smiling staff. Our waiter, Luca was so attentive and checked in on us a lot. The ambiance is noisy but that's what you can expect at a place like this. The music isn't too loud. I didn't have to yell over anyone to make conversation. We went for the happy hour and so glad we did. Raw oysters are $1 each for happy hour which was a steal in my opinion! I've been seeing tiktoks of other people eating raw oysters so yeah, I've been craving it for WEEKS!! They weren't too salty. Would definitely come back here for happy hour again.

Yelp
I wish I remembered the bartender's name but I think it was Christy. She was very attentive and friendly. Her grapefruit crushes were amazing. I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. Delicious! I would definitely get that again. Also got the fries which were tasty as well. There was a man behind the bar helping out. I don't catch his name but he was very friendly as well. I will definitely come back soon especially for the bartender and yes the food too! Very nice atmosphere. The US Open was on as well. I enjoyed myself. Next time I will try the oysters. There was a young lady next to me that ordered some and looked sooo good. Awesome place.

Yelp
Ryleighs Oyster in Hunt Valley is a very spacious, cozy, open space. The layout is proper and you feel like you have plenty of space. I went here for happy hour. It's a treat to indulge in their food! All of it was tasty. Their service was quick and appreciated. I would highly recommend this business.
google avatar

Yelp
Ate at Ryleigh's on a Thursday night with girlfriends. Got the fish tacos which were really great except for the heavy red sauce? on top of the pico. Next time I would get the same tacos without that sauce on top.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch and was quickly seated. Took a while to get waited on but one we were the server was pleasant. The inside is very dark which makes it difficult to read the menu but it was clean and with an oyster bar feel. My wife loved the cream of crab soup. I had the crab cake with fries and cole slaw. The was broiled perfectly and filler wasn't overly present. Overall a great tasting crab cake. We'll definitely try if we are back in the area.

Yelp
Stopped in with friends for dinner and a cocktail. Cool atmosphere with plenty of televisions to watch the college football game. Baked oysters were amazing. Wedge salad with chicken was very good. Service was very good as well. Too cold to sit outside but the area looked inviting if it had been summer time. My only complaint is the menu spelled "Brussels sprouts" incorrectly. I would think a dining establishment would get this right.

Yelp
The Happy hour is amazing! The Oysters are by far my favorite, would recommend this place to anyone if you want oysters for a good price! Service is amazing as well, servers are kind and you are quickly seated and place is very beautiful and has such a nice atmosphere as well as great music.

Yelp
My niece bid on a dinner for six at Ryleigh's Oyster Bar at a fund raiser. She won the bid and invited five family members to join her and her husband for dinner. We were seated in a private dining area and treated to a five-course dinner. The wait staff were courteous, and professional. They talked about the restaurant and the vendors they use. The chef came in and talked to us. Raw oysters and bruschetta skewers were served when we first arrived. There were five courses with three choices per course. You could try new food or order a favorite. There were enough food choices to satisfy everyones' palates. The food came out hot and was delicious. I had chicken for my entrée; it was moist and tender and seasoned perfectly. I enjoyed the food in every course, but the New York cheesecake made with goat milk cheese was my favorite. It was a very enjoyable evening. Eileen B.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick drink and app. As the weather warms they will take down the tent and sides. Great open air spot. They have a nice oyster selection. They have their own brand. I want to say the Avery's . We had a dozen raw, crab dip and a drink. Service was quick and friendly. Nice put stop on a day of errands.

Yelp
I was in the area taking care of some business and Yelp recommend it check it out. So, why not? It's really really cool in here. The outside seating area is where you wanna be. It's an awesome space to watch the games, vibe & chat, or chill with the kiddies. It was very family-friendly here. I love high seating and umbrella tables. Nice lil stage where they have live music every Tues, Thursday, Fri, & Sat. Before ordering food, I started with two bottles of Sea Glass white wine which I enjoyed. The oysters .... Tasty, but super small. I had to order 3 rounds of Chargrilled Chesapeake oysters to get a grasp of what I was dealing with. Good taste tho. 7/10. I also ordered the seafood pizza ( trying something new) & I was surprised it was that good. 9/10. Detroit-style pizza with tons of crab meat & enough shrimp & scallops. They didn't hold back. You won't be mad. Finished my meal with some Rope Grown mussels. 7/10. Very nice place. I'll be coming back, esp during football season. They have sushi on certain days and they have daily and weekly specials, so check the website before going. A huge parking lot outside so that is not a problem. Hope you enjoy it. #TeamDiesel #TeamDiesel4Evaaaa

Yelp
On May 23rd I attended for Happy hour and ordered two drinks. A margarita, a mule and grillee oysters. The oysters unfortunately were not tasty and the drinks did not meet expectation and previous visits. In addition, I recommended this spot and my +1 did not experience a good time.

Yelp
Ryleigh's has good seafood; love the calamari - crispy and seasoned well. Service is always good too! It can get pretty busy in there, especially the weekends. Nice outdoor space with a bar too. Get the sagamore crush - a nice spin on the classic orange crush!

Tracey P.

Yelp
I had the steak appetizer. I don't recommend this. The steak is so thin it was like shoe leather!
google avatar

Ron J.

Yelp
Solid for what it is - a brew-pub that has oysters and other brew-pub menu type items. Hellishly busy on Friday happy hour and you may not get waited on. Even after being seated. Ask me how I know! Good oyster specials, really nice tap selection, and decent wine for the wine drinkers in the crowd. Nice festive environment. Really was tempted to give it 4 stars, but one really awful experience skews you. I still go back. Read that as you will!

Yelp
We attended a baby shower here in a private room in the back. It was a nice space with ample seating and space to mingle. The staff did an excellent job keeping drinks refreshed and things stocked. The food was perfect for a light lunch. We had chicken sliders, turkey sliders, shrimp tacos, Caesar salad, pasta salad, and crab dip, along with a limited bar menu. I would recommend Ryleighs if you are considering hosting a private event. Ambiance: 3/5 Service: 4.5/5 Food: 4/5 Value: can not comment because it was an event

Yelp
Enjoyed a nice business brunch on the patio on a Sunday afternoon. The huevos rancheros were interesting. Typical eggs and beans, but instead of tortillas, Ryleigh's puts a pretty display of pita chips around the plate. I like it. Great service by Kim. She's a staple here at Ryleigh's and she's always professional, friendly and efficient.

Cynthia J.

Yelp
Our waiter, Caden was great! Loved him. The food was excellent and came out quickly. But here's why we won't return. It is Extremely loud. Extremely. The 4 of us could barely talk to each other without yelling. And our Apple watches kept sending us decibel warnings. That along with the 3.5% "e-commerce fee" definitely turned us off. Just raise everything $1 and stop that. That is the cost of you doing business. This isn't the 1950s. We're not going back to a totally cash society.

Christian P.

Yelp
Had 30 PEI oysters between my wife and me. Very small but excellent oysters. Expensive! Service was hurried and rattled. My oyster stew came before I finished the oysters . . . so, I sent it back. When I did receive my soup, my wife's "bowl" didn't arrive. Server said it was overlooked (???) . . . order lost. By the time it came, I had finished my stew. Very rich, flavorful but with almost no oysters, maybe three. When we finished our supper (52nd anniversary dinner), I handed a gift certificate for $150 from my daughter. They said they couldn't find it in the system and therefore, it was not usable. Four times I asked the server to find a manager and each time he came back saying that she was "busy". Ruined our evening!!!!! We left before I could blow-up . . . my wife wanted me to leave. So, we did. Irritating, frustrating and miserable end to our " celebration. I will find an alternative to Ryleigh's Oyster in the future. Cost for this "event" . . . $199 plus tip.

Yelp
****Update**** My favorite place has redeemed themselves!! Service was amazing as always and they have a wonderful and kindhearted manager. Normally, this place is amazing but tonight I had the worst experience. My party was seated soon as we walked in but a waiter never came to our table. We waited 15 minutes and no one never came. Many waitresses and staff walked by and looked at us but they never stopped to help us. Needless to say we walked out

Weegee E.

Yelp
Try the sushi and sit at the outside bar. Those two guy's will put a smile on your face and just make you have a fun time! Great drinks and great food!

Yelp
If you love oysters you must visit. They use to host an oyster festival and oyster and champagne ball in Baltimore before they closed the federal hill location. My cocktails were good, they will definitely sneak up on you. Oysters big, flavorful ,meaty and not to salty. The hushpuppies were beer battered and fried. It was ok not great not bad either. I would order again however there are other items I wish to try. Next time I will have either oyster stew or cream of crab with the oysters. Beware if you have a large party pay with cash. I asked and was told the owner charges a 3.5 %fee. It says E hospitality but it really is to use a credit card, so that is the fee to use a credit card. So that does not go to any of the staff

Jason B.

Yelp
Food and oysters were good, however their website is misleading. The dollar oysters are only for the 5 high tops in the bar. They also charged me for making my reservation online!
google avatar

Monica B.

Yelp
I returned and the food an service were excellent! Their fries with cream of crab were delicious, their Ichiro's triple roll was delightful, and their apple strudel was tasty. It was fun for a Friday night and had a good live band which made it loud in the bar area but we sat in a more far away area which was the perfect spot. Our server was excellent (didn't catch his name)

Melody M.

Yelp
As someone with many years in hospitality, I know how servers feel when they get a reserved table full of women (sorry my fellow sisters but within the industry we are known as the worst tippers). . . Tonight 9 women took up a major portion of Noah's station . . . he was AWESOME! Always accommodating, always polite AND most importantly to this Irisher maintained his wonderful sense of humor! Don't know what his plans are for the future BUT whatever he is, I wish him the very best!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and service!!! Live music and food/drinks were spectacular! We had the best girl's night out and high recommend!

Jen D.

Yelp
Oysters were really good! Especially the ones from Maine! Server was funny- love the ambiance.

Yelp
We had a nice dinner at Ryleighs, first time there. The beer selection was good and they were willing to let us taste some before choosing. The oysters were fabulous, probably the best part of the meal. My only complaint is that they only came with cocktail sauce. No remoulade, no horseradish. They seemed under staffed and it took a very long time for someone to come take our food order but our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. The lobster roll was very good but small. More like an appetizer than an entree. The poke bowl had a very nice flavor but was also quite small. The burgers and salads were pretty good too. All in all it was a nice meal, not quite 5 stars but pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place so much I named my daughter after this place I love everything about Ryleigh's the food is fresh I love oysters and they serve them up so great everytime the atmosphere is clean ,intimate and fun service is awesome I must say for me to be a oyster lover I'm never disappointed this is a go to for life place for me

Yelp
Really nice place. The food was excellent. Unfortunately we were in a hurry so couldn't order the steamed oysters which I was anxious to try! Now I have a reason to go back
google avatar

Yelp
First time having a crab cake since I moved to MD and WOW. It was incredible. Also got fried oysters, calamari, and salmon. I really enjoyed coming here, can be more casual or upscale, depends on how you're feeling!
google avatar

Jackie V.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our meal here tonight. The place is huge and has a good vibe with a very nice bar. We enjoyed watching the fresh oysters being shucked. They had lots of beers on tap. Hubbie enjoyed a mango wheat ale and I had a glass of Cava. We started with a half dozen Blue Point oysters. Hubbie declared them delicious. We also had Brussel sprouts which I would probably not order again as they were fried. For entrees we had the lobster roll and crab cake platter. Both were outstanding. Service was prompt but not overly friendly, We'll be back again soon!

Kristi P.

Yelp
Our waiter was fantastic. The live music was loud and they had several private parties happening, so it was hard having conversations with the family. Food was good and I'd go back.

Yelp
We went to Ryleighs for a happy hour drink after a round of bowling at nearby Bowlero. Wow do they have a great happy hour on Mondays! They have all day HH (day and night) on Mondays where you can order their full HH menu at any time. They had some great nibbles and drinks were a bargain. We settled on a 6$ draught beer and a Moscow mule along with a dozen freshly shucked oysters for only $1 each! I loved the presentation of the fresh oysters- just shucked, on ice, with fresh lemon, cocktail and hot sauce in the middle. Wow were they good. You could absolutely tell they were fresh. They do have a small oyster bar that has some seats in order to watch but we chose the main bar. The service was personable and quick on the drink refills. We perused the full menu as well while we were waiting for our oysters and we definitely agreed we'd love to come back to try the entrees. Highly recommend!

Rama S.

Yelp
Ryleigh's has always been a staple place for happy hour, oysters, drinks, music, and good vibes. The happy hour deals are pretty good and the food offerings rotate every now and then however the buck a shuck oysters are always a go-to. The oysters are fresh, decently sized, and comes with a delicious whiskey mignonette sauce upon request! I frequently get the lobster roll because it is affordable and comes packed with lobster. Fries are crispy and fresh. This was my first time getting the charbroiled oysters from the HH menu and they were so good we ordered them again right after finishing the plate. They were huge and full of flavor, almost tasted like a cheeseburger! This location is always busy but the service remains consistent and always nice. Highly recommend if you are a seafood lover, enjoy live music, and a great outdoor area.
google avatar

Bryan H.

Yelp
I have ate there several times . The raw oysters are great. Also a great price. The staff is really helpful. The atmosphere is also good.
google avatar

Mark P.

Yelp
Fully recommend if you want some great seafood. I did a Thursday night for a quick drink. They had a dollar oysters specials. Which was a local oyster Avery pearls. Great oyster comparable to a shigoku, so I was satisfied all around. Also had the peel and eat shrimp, which were jumbo in size with old bay flavors. Finish with a cup of cream of crab soup which I would highly recommend. Service was great no complaints.

Jim M.

Yelp
Food is very good. Service is also good. Happy hour not available on holidays which is not posted on the website or the menu or in the restaurant itself. We asked to see the manager about this lack of posting and he would not speak to us but sent but sent the server back to tell us "No."
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
Avery pearl oysters ($1 ea, happy hour): LOVE these! I was told they're from Virginia. They taste a lot like South Carolina oysters, briny and gamey and delicious without any sauces, sucked up along with the pool of their own juiciness. 5/5 Charred steak ($10, happy hour): steak was fine, little dry but I kind of expect that with a charred steak. Fingerling potatoes were nice and crispy around the edges. The sauce, tho...way too SALTY. Suggest getting the sauce on the side. 4/5 Waitress/bartender seemed pretty scattered, but well-intentioned and friendly. Def recommend for happy hour!

Brian F.

Yelp
Diverse food and drink menu with many options. Excellent oysters , crab cake, salads etc . Service is solid and nice upbeat vibe .
google avatar

Brian T.

Yelp
The oysters were great and I really enjoyed the fried fish sandwich! My fiance got the lobster roll and also really enjoyed it. The fries are also very good. Would come again!
google avatar

Marc T.

Yelp
Have driven by here for years, but decided to try it with some friends. From the outside it looks like an office complex and the parking lot is dark. However inside was a pleasant treat. Loved the bar/table/seafood counter mix. I am sure during the summer with the garage doors open, it has a wonderful atmosphere. We had a calamari appetizer that was good, but kind of small for four people. Nobody was in the mood for oysters, so we had a mix of fish tacos and fish and chips. Tacos were well liked and the perfect size for those that ordered. Not too big and not fishy. The fish and chips were big and tasty! Would definitely recommend, especially in great weather and the outside open
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
We stopped in today after a day of sightseeing. My nieces first time trying a lobster roll and she is ready to go back. The crab cake was amazing! The oysters were generous. The service was excellent especially since the bartender was a little busy. We are planning one more visit before we fly back to Hawaii in a couple weeks
google avatar

Shavene M.

Yelp
Ambiance- 8/10 great outdoor space with a tv. The inside is well decorated; however the spacing of the furniture felt a little jammed. Food: 7/10-we ordered the charred grilled oysters, brussel sprouts, old bay wings, and wedge salad. The brussel sprouts and oysters were amazing, the wings got the job done; however, the salad was disappointing. The salad consisted of half of a head of lettuce, a table spoon of bacon, 5 cherry tomatoes, 1/3 cup of crispy onion strip, and two tbl spoons of blue cheese dressing- there was no crumbled blue cheese. All you could really taste from the salad was the water from the lettuce. There was so much lettuce and so little of everything else. Service- Natalie A, our waitress was very friendly and polite. The total check was about $56.00. Despite Overall I'd give this restaurant an 8.5/10. I'd definitely check it out again.

Yelp
This place has very good food, a great vibe, and phenomenal service, especially at the outside bar.

Yelp
Great drinks and great service. Only issue was the crab drip... mostly cheese and little to no crab meat. Orange crash is a must! Ask for light ice when ordering it.

Yelp
good food, service not great (this time) -weird service fees put on every check ! even if cash is used.
