Yelp
Ryoshi is one of two new(ish) Japanese places in town, the other being Yokocho Izakaya, which I haven't tried yet. It joins quite a few fine sushi places already established here in Bend. Based on social media, Ryoshi seems to have been favorably received by local foodies.
- Very nice ambiance with comfortable seating. Ryoshi certainly has fitted the space out much better than previous tenants (Wild Oregon Foods, for example). This is a restaurant where you can have a pleasant dinner chatting with friends.
- Service is efficient, polite, friendly. Our food arrived very soon after ordering.
- Food: Sushi cuts are very good. We had salmon, tuna, mackerel and two off the specials board. I won't get into whether the fish is 'fresh' (an overused term on Yelp) - they all seemed fine to me. Hamachi roll was also quite fine, not too much sauce or seasoning, rice was cooked properly. Edamame appetizer was perfectly done.
- Drinks: plenty of choices including cocktails, sake and a few beers. Plus NA drinks. If you're here to drink and eat izakaya-style, you probably won't be disappointed. Didn't notice any wine.
- Prices are probably what you expect these days.
All in all, a good addition to Bend's dining scene. The only minor negative was the grill portion of the menu - already maybe not the most expansive of the izakayas I've been to - had numerous selections blacked out (unavailable). Still, plenty of good choices were offered there and in other menu sections, including quite a few fish 'specials' on the board near the sushi bar.
