Ryota Kappou Modern

We tried the Premium 9-course tasting menu at Ryota Kappou Modern and it was honestly amazing. Every dish felt thoughtful and well-executed — standouts for me were the toro katsu, wagyu uni handroll, and the stone grill Omi wagyu. So tender and full of flavour. Service was super attentive and the vibe is comfortable but refined. Well-deserved Michelin star. Also joined their membership program for $200 off next time.

I've enjoyed their menus for two consecutive seasons, and there have been many surprises! It focuses on seasonal flavors and the authenticity of ingredients. With its open kitchen and bar design, you can watch the chef prepare dishes up close while eating, making it both visually and gastronomically satisfying.

Very good ambience, lively and friendly. Food was surprisingly good! Lots of dishes were nicely executed and presented. Even for people who have a picky palate,the food is pleasantly memorable and definitely deserves a revisit!

Food was okay — mainly disappointed by the fish main course, which was not seasoned enough. Seasonal sushi appetiser was good though.

Was lunch here, the vibe is cool, i strongly suggest to pick wagyu as main, it is a little but expensive but overall experience is great, high-touch service level

Foods are good, but didn’t exceed our expectations as a “star” restaurant——undeniably, I had too much amazing Japanese foods in the past years so that my standard became higher. Also, I came at lunch time with a limited budget so that I didn’t spend as much as how I spent in usual. The extra sashimi platter didn’t offer me too much surprise, although the uni is above average. Wagyu is fine but not tender/juicy enough. I do admit that I love the deserts, both of them are very good. Pros: It deserves the prices we paid. Cons: sushi is not included in the combo set(again we came at lunch instead of dinner so that it’s cheaper), and the sashimi, although pretty good, didn’t surprise me as a “star” restaurant. Overall it’s a good experience, but it didn’t provide me any surprises as a “star restaurant”. Service is amazing, and I do appreciate that the restaurant prepared a small room for me since I’ve brought two kids.

Had dinner. Still can't get it over how they achieved that Michelin Star. Cuisine was really above average, compared to the numerous modern Japanese restaurants I have visited through the years. I am always ready and happy to pay for a Michelin Star meal, but this one, it's not worth the while, honestly. Quality of food is rather ordinary for the amount charged. What shocked me most was, another table was charged to our card！And on this night, there were just 3 tables occupied including ours. Though the amount was quickly reverted, but still..... Not to mention it's a Michelin Star restaurant. Any ordinary reputable restaurant wouldn't make such a mistake when the entire restaurant had just 3 tables of guests. A very ordinary night. Thankfully, the companions were great.
