Old Montreal Is Getting a Swanky New Italian Restaurant: Stellina | Eater Montreal

"I observed the Gauley Brothers handled the new Griffintown outpost for Ryu, described as an upscale sushi restaurant." - Valerie Silva

Montreal’s July Restaurant, Cafe, and Bar Openings | Eater Montreal

"The Griffintown location seats up to 70 and, designed by the Gauley Brothers, features plush booth seating, dark fan-patterned walls and wooden furniture; unlike other Ryu outposts it includes a 'hot kitchen' and new items such as wagyu sliders, dumplings, miso black cod, plus firsts for the group like seafood towers, lobster lettuce cups, and seafood tacos." - Valerie Silva

Wish I took more photos to show you how amazing this spot is. The ambiance was great and we were a large group of 8 ppl so service was included in our bill. Because I've been to the other Ryù location, my friends asked me to order for the table! Just to list a few dishes we ordered: - Miso soup - Hamachi Jalapeño tataki - Wagyu dumplings - Lobster dumplings - Beef Short ribs - Sushi rolls: Mr Maguro, Paradise, Salmon Truffle, Hamachi Baby (just to name a few because we ordered twice) Enjoy, and remember to make a reservation ahead of time.

First impressions , wow ! Beautiful establishment inside and their outdoor terasse. Overall the food is good , the 2 salads we got were nothing special but the wagyu dumplings a must , the salmon tartare excellent .

While ending up paying over 400$ for a Valentine’s fixed menu for two, my feelings about this place remain mixed. We received a welcoming service, great places and were pleased with the ambiance, attentive waitresses and food presentation. The plates arrived on time, their distribution was perfectly calculated. Same goes to the portions. Overall we had around 7 dishes, and this is where things start to get interesting. Of course, it is well known that on special holidays every established restaurant tries to raise profits on a selected variety of foods, but this is the exact moment when quality questions arise. The restaurant claims itself to be a fine cuisine dining, but gastronomically wise it was a very simple, almost tasteless experience for a very few bites. Same goes to the wine that didn’t make the “match”. I know a bunch of much less popular, hidden in a small neighbourhood, places that can deliver a higher quality sea food for a ridiculously smaller bill. You pay for a good presentation that brings you a luxurious feeling, not food. Just like these big giant designer brands. So don’t get fooled. Besides that, we received a very great table service and this is why I leave here a good rating. The girls did an incredible job on maintaining the image.

Had such a great dinner at RYU. The fish was super fresh, everything was beautifully plated, and the vibe was really chill but still elevated. Definitely one of the best sushi spots I’ve been to in Montreal—can’t wait to go back.

Ryu is hands down the best sushi spot in the city. Every piece is fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor you can really taste the quality in every bite. The menu offers a perfect balance of classic favorites and creative rolls, all plated with incredible attention to detail. The ambiance is just as impressive as the food. The space is modern yet warm, with a relaxed, sophisticated vibe that makes it ideal for both a special night out and a casual dinner with friends. The staff are welcoming, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do, which makes the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for top tier sushi and a setting that feels special from the moment you walk in, Ryu is a must

Rug Griffintown has amazing food. Wagyu tacos were good. Sushi was great. My only issue was the entertainer. The guy’s name is Charlie. He was kind of overwhelming. I liked the restaurant, but I don’t want to be bombarded with Charlie everytime I go there.
