Montreal Restaurants Continue to Grapple With Delivery During the Pandemic | Eater Montreal

"Customers at Ryu Sushi can order via delivery apps or through the restaurant’s own website if they meet a minimum spend; manager Jorge da Silva views app use as a temporary measure and hopes to return to exclusively in-house deliveries over time." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

Google
I was in need of some serious comfort food. As a lover of asian cuisine, this place sounded perfect. From my first step in Christine was not only attentive, professional and helpful, she made my meal much more enjoyable. I had all you can eat sushi from her recommendation. SHE WAS NOT WRONG! As I made my way through the menu it was evident that the ingredients were fresh and the chefs are true professionals. An absolute GEM here in the city of Temecula CA! INKed approved! Highly recommended.

Don N.

Google
This place have the best all you can eat AYCE sushi in the area, Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar, Menifee, Lake Elsinore. Fresh, good quality.

Joanna A.

Google
Great All You Can Eat spot. Everything I ordered was delicious. The rolls were so generously filled and all the ingredients were super fresh. Sauces were delicious and not overpowering. Chicken teriyaki was moist (especially considering it was thinly sliced breast meat) and the sauce was light and not overly sweet. They definitely lost money on me hahaha. Will come back when in this area again.

Isabel J.

Google
I, a broke college student saved all my money for this AYCE. I literally ate 7 rolls. The AYCE is 38.99 and 7 rolls is approx, 105$. As one of the few places that still has AYCE, it satisfied my broke, starving, college tummy. I definitely recommend coming here and eating until your Jean buttons explode at 105MPH towards the sushi chefs. And the house sake is delicious and only 7.99!! Come here!!

Google
This place has been my go-to spot the past few months. It's pretty good for an AYCE sushi spot. I'd recommend and dish. Be adventurous. Service is great. The ladies are very friendly. The coupon special is for take out only incase it's your first time.

Google
Took my husband here for his birthday for the all you can eat sushi. Now, it's not really all you can eat, in the sense that there's only 3 rounds, however that's plenty! He ate about $150 worth of sushi for $60! He said it was all fantastic. I don't eat sushi, but I did try the ramen, which was arguably the best ramen I'd ever had. The service is god awful though and the servers were SO SO mean to the poor busser that worked there.

Rey C.

Google
Bit pricey for an all you can eat. Few sushi are really tasty and most are about standard for the area. All out can eat would be worth it if I had a larger capacity for it, certainly not for a regular dine in.

Green Thumbs U.

Google
We went for the Buffet, and I'd say it's definitely worth it 💯 percent. Depending on your type of sushi, I guess, as long as you order at least 3 rolls, I'd say it's already worth the price. Went in for lunch. However, you can pay the dinner price and get the dinners exclusive. They have indoor or outdoor seating, which I loved and they accommodate you on where you prefer to be seated, comfortability is a must for me. I ordered a bunch of nigiri and no-rice roll. You are allowed to order up to 3x on specific items. Some have 1 per customer per order, which is understandable like the oyster shooter. It's my go to place for sushi if I wanna be filled and sushified for months.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite. Found great service and plenty of options. Very much a cozy and friendly vibe. Plenty of fresh fish selections and the AYCE menu was literally everything.

Yelp
Just finished AYCE sushi dinner and a bit disgusted. 1/2 way through our meal my husband took a bite out of his roll and there was a long, long hair in it. The owner saw him take the bite and the looks of surprise and disgust on our faces and rushed over. When she asked what happened and we told her and showed her the long hair still in the chopsticks her response was "so did you still want the roll?" We politely said no thank you and she took the rest of the food away. That's it. Still paid full price for AYCE. Not even a dessert, not that we would want one at this point but an offer of some sort would have showed some customer service. Won't be back.

Yelp
Ryu sushi will always be my favorite all you can eat establishment. The blue fin nigiri is phenomenal. We have enjoyed so many great rolls and experiences at this restaurant. The waitresses are always nice, and the quality of fish is always perfect. I will always recommend this place to friends. It's close seated and it can be loud inside.
google avatar

Yelp
I did love the sushi here the only thing was when you get AYCE sushi certain things are only available once. I haven't been to a place that does this so I was not used to it. Make sure you ask about this before putting in your first order. Other than that, sushi was tasty.

Yelp
Best ayce sushi in Temecula! Service is quick, not too much rice on rolls, friendly staff! My 4 year old loves this place too. They can seat a couple large parties (8-10) but better for 1-4 parties. Nestled in older buildings but filled with yummy food and charm inside.

Yelp
You know it's good when your back for a second time in one week! After sitting out the AYCE on my last visit, I decided to go back tonight for it and it was 10/10 top tier rolls. I love the fact that their menu has pictures of all the different rolls with their description down below what's inside and outside. They have all sorts of options hand rolls, rolls with no rice appetizers and much much more. The service is wonderful Jenny who we met this past week remembered my boyfriend and I's name. They serve cocktails ex. Margarita which is only a few sips and served in a martini glass and my favorite ice cold Sapporo. This place is definitely on my top three sushi spots to visit when in Temecula might even steal first place of my favorite GIN SUSHI. This establishment does feel a bit bigger and has the chef's preparing the rolls fresh upon order. Some of my favorites included the mango roll, the yellow tail with Avocado and the blue fin roll!! Definitely come try out if you're in the mood for a wide assortment of fresh fish and more. Can't wait to come back and check off every specialty roll on their menu.

Yelp
I am updating but maintaining the 4-star rating. As I am sure I, and others, will be posting for quite some time - due to economic factors, inflation, labor and product costs, etc., businesses are having to adapt; I can sympathize with them. Unfortunately, this adjustment sometimes is customer-facing. Sadly, Ryu's lunch prices (formerly $29) are now what their former dinner prices were, $35; their new dinner prices being $40. With all you can eat, you do still get quite a bit for your money. For us, the bigger disappointment was the added charge for sushi-order specialization - I understand if we were charged for a true "special request" on our order, however, my wife cannot tolerate anything spicy/hot, so requests the rolls be made without this "squirt" of spicy mayo on top. Now, they charge for leaving this topping off - something we do not agree with.

Yelp
The best sushi spot in socal. Will always love this place. Ive been here a gazillion times and have never left unsatisfied. Service is great everyone is so kind & food comes out quick! The place is so cozy and clean as well.

Mike S.

Yelp
Had a great experience all you can eat food walked out of there felt like I was going to explode. Servers were great and prompt as they could be definitely will go there again and again.

Yelp
Fish is always great, huge AYCE menu, so many options for all kinds of sushi lovers, great service, fast delivery of food to the table, and optional add-ons like fresh REAL wasabi and tasty desserts as well. One of my favorite All You Can Eat Sushi spots in the area!
google avatar

The Real Brand Savage X.

Yelp
Slow. Didn't give exactly what we ordered each time. Changed our price from lunch to dinner price without telling us. Not fresh. Very normal atmosphere. Disappointed.

Josh W.

Yelp
Fish was amazing! The staff were awesome! 5 stars!! Would recommend anyone in the area stop in and get some grub.
google avatar

Mario G.

Yelp
Great spot for all you can eat sushi, not top tier sushi but it is great for families with teens with a never ending appetite and the servers are always happy to celebrate birthdays. The restaurant could benefit from a light facelift but overall it's a pretty good spot. The locals like the place, at least the ones I've talked to. As a grownup I would not take my wife here for date night as it occasionally gets really loud in there.
google avatar

Sheila V.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday late afternoon for AYCE dinner. Not super busy and was seated immediately. Staff were friendly and attentive. However, the quality of food was not good enough to justify the price. Ordered lots of raw fish rolls, carpaccio, and hand rolls in the first round and most of the fish didn't taste fresh. The saving grace of this place were the fried items like the Heart Attack, Vegetable Tempura, Crispy Rice, and Crispy Salmon. The one "raw" fish item we enjoyed was the mango salmon. It tasted fresh and the flavors mixed together nicely. Overall, wouldn't come again but an ok place for Temecula.

Yelp
THE KNOWS BEFORE COMING HERE -AYCE is worth the buck when you know you are eating your fill especially for the Nigiri sushi *recommend the yellow tail, bluefin tuna, salmon and scallop nigiri- they were the BEST in quality* Reasons why it's a 3 out of 5 star -Service was OKAY, some things to note: 1) my sauce plate for the soy sauce and wasabi was NOT clean, it had a leftover dark thick sauce on the corner ( i asked for it to be changed out and they gave me a clean one) 2) they did not give me the CORRECT order for one of my nigiris, instead of smelt roe they gave me the scallops and they forgot to give our miso soup (the paper was clearly marked for the AYCE menu) we ordered it for the next round instead -HOT days like the summer and the time that we went, the air conditioning seemed like it was not really on. It felt pretty warm inside the restaurant Still would come back for the nigiri's hopefully the service is better next time!

Isaias S.

Yelp
I love sushi, and could literally eat it everyday! I honestly think if you're in Temecula and looking for all you can eat (AYCE) then this is the place you'll head to! It's a very clean, nice environment with employees who are very attentive! I have never had a bad experience here in the multiple times I've been here! And trust me, I love to eat! The food gets 4 out of 5. Service 5 out of 5 Parking 5 out of 5. And really the only thing keeping this review from getting a perfect 5 is the fact that while everything is delicious nothing really POPS out as amazing. It's a great value you for what you get.

Yelp
First time and will definitely come back, great food and cheap too. Staff are awesome and nice location.. Highly recommended..

Yelp
The service was great and the sushi was good. I went for all you can eat and the rolls that I had were pretty good and tasted fresh. I'd go back since it was good for the price and the restaurant was clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Trying something new today. Salmon carppacio and the tried and true salmon sashimi. The salmon carppacio was delicious came with avocado, onion and a dash of spicy sauce it was delicious and sliced nicely. The salmon sashimi is always our go to as well. Always fresh and served quickly. Inside was busy tonight but we were seated quickly.
google avatar

Dan A.

Yelp
All you can eat sushi! Plenty of parking, plenty of seating. Friendly host, seats you quickly. A massive menu, lots of different sushi and entrees to choose from. Most definitely an awesome all-you-can-eat sushi spot that I would for sure go back to. I would say the trickiest part, is taking your time looking at the menu to figure out which sushi rolls you would like to get. Haha. Don't feel rushed, make sure you take your time and choose the rolls for you! Here's how it works, you get to order three times. Each time you order you can order as many things as you want. So if you want to order two or four sushi rolls on your first order you can, and then the waitress would come back to visit for the second order, then one last one. By the third order, we were pretty full order, we were pretty full!
google avatar

Mikayla M.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here for years. This is a great place to get AYCE Sushi. The fish is always fresh and they have a lot of different options on the a la carte menu for people who aren't big on fish like bento boxes, udon, and yakisoba.
google avatar

Yelp
Great sushi size and variety! Never been before so it was a nice little venture. Was a big fan of their riceless sushi, especially the Boom Boom. I do think the staff was bit overwhelmed with only two servers for a majority of the time we were there. As a former food service employee, I could sympathize with that feeling so I didn't feel too neglected with my party. The seating was very casual, so we shared a table with another large party. Again, not a problem since there was spacing between us and we were both in our own conversations. If anything, just wish we had more waters cause we didn't get a refill once. But luckily we were too stuffed with food so maybe it was smarter we didn't fill up on too much water either. I'm never in Temecula (sisters idea for a get together with a cousin) so idk when I'd be back but definitely check it out for the food. Great options!
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
1st time for the AYCE. I had a Yelp coupon but was told by the employee that it was only good for to-go food. The coupon didn't stipulate that and they need to update their YELP coupon. I made a reservation via Yelp on their waitlist and they did not have me on their list. Downside, we had to keep asking for our order x 3 times. Staffing hint: they need more staff for an AYCE.
google avatar

Alexis G.

Yelp
So yummy, sweet workers, and definitely worth the all-you-can-eat!! The mango roll and salmon carpaccio were my favorites.
google avatar

Marichelle D.

Yelp
I got onto their Waitlist through Yelp but they weren't using the system when we arrived. Luckily we had a short wait prior to being seated. Service was friendly and the food was great! They have a large variety of rolls. They have an AYCE option about $38/person for dinner and others in your party could order from the menu or choose AYCE.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been coming here for a while now. I always come right when they open, so I'm always quickly seated. While the sushi doesn't taste that fresh as other sushi places I've been to in the OC, the options are still tasty. The servers are really attentive, and I've never had to wave anyone down. My favorite roll is the lemon roll. It is very refreshing. As far as the fish to rice ratio goes, it's pretty average and I think it also depends on who is making the rolls. There have been a few rolls I've had that didn't have much rice, and when I've ordered the rolls a second time, they had more of rice. They have a lot of seating inside and can accommodate large parties. The place is always cold, which is good because no one wants to eat room temp sushi. Temecula does not really have that many sushi restaurants, but this is always my go to place because I know what type of service to expect and already I know what rolls I am going to order. I go with the AYCE option because it's still a better deal and I pace myself with eating the rolls.

Yelp
Went on a 4/11/25. 6 people in our party, 3 of us getting all you can eat. The food is good and the fish was quality but sadly this will be the last time we go to the is location. As we know parties larger than 5 get auto gratuity added to the bill, which is okay and not the problem. The problem is that discourages good service. Our server (one of them?) was nowhere to be found and when she did come around she did not bus our table to get rid of empty and dirty plates. While we were waiting (for an abnormally long time) for our food, she would not come to check on us at all. No drink refills. For the amount we paid, you would think that we wouldn't have to ask for refills/having dirty plates be removed from the table. It seems as if our initial server was inconvenienced when we asked her to remove plates from the table. We had, who I presume to be the manager or owner, come by to take our AYCE paper and review it only to ask us condescendingly "this roll is pretty big, are you sure you want to order 3 of them?" again as if we were inconveniencing him? When we could clearly see the amount of pieces that came in the roll. YEAH we do want to order it, why did we come to AYCE sushi if we didn't want to eat what we selected? I guess in a sense he was right since the rolls are now PACKED with rice and barely any fish. This is not our first time here and definitely has gone downhill since being repeat customers. To top it off, we never received our paper after our 2nd round. So I guess we were cutoff? Everything was finished and we would definitely pay the $1 each piece penalty if so. We brought in family from out of town to our favorite sushi spot only to be embarrassed by the service. Sapporo sushi on Winchester from now on. To RYU sushi owners/managers, I'd be happy to talk about this with you as this was a major disappointment. Our table was directly to the left when you walk into the door we had a reservation at 5:15 PM on the date above.
google avatar

Kaycee S.

Yelp
I always get all you can eat. So good. And more variety rolls with salmon and tuna. Sashimis were good but a little dry and not as melt in your mouth compared to others. Wished they had less rice. Other than that. Friendly staff.
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
Wow we've been coming here for years and as soon as we get to open the door the lady rolls us out saying they are not open until 2 pm Their sign says clearly open at 11am and closed the doors on us Very rude! We will be going from now on to our other favorite sushi place Gin Sushi
google avatar

Robert T.

Yelp
All-you-can-eat sushi? More like all-you-can-wait sushi. Ryu's food is fire--creative rolls, fresh fish, and great value. But the service? Like they're aging the tuna table-side. If you've got time to kill, it's worth it. If you're starving, pack a snack while you wait for round one.
google avatar

Denise R.

Yelp
I dined in tonight with my family and there were many issues. The nigiri we ordered were warm, which is is unusual for salmon, yellowtail, tuna, making me question the handling on their fresh fish. The worst part of the night was getting served SPOILED uni, which we paid an extra $8.99(x2 servings) for. All four pieces of our uni were impossible to swallow. We spit it out and all of us experienced an extremely bitter taste in all of our servings. We reported the spoiled uni to the server. But nothing was done about the issue until we had to ask a manager, yet we never got met by the manager. Poor conflict resolution and potential FOOD POISONING shouldn't be treated so casually.

Austin Y.

Yelp
Food is excellent and very fresh. Always bringing the family here and they are always so accommodating with our requests. This is definitely the best all you can eat sushi restaurant. The servers are always kind and the feel of the restaurant is very welcoming.
google avatar

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Got the all you can eat! Great deal and rolls We're good for all you can eat. Had the golden tiger roll, super Mexican roll, and red dragon roll. Would eat here again. There is a very small disclaimer that for all you can eat they will charge $1 per piece and additional $1 for cream cheese and a certain paper . We had a few pieces left over and they were nice enough not to charge. Wish they would tell you up front as menu is very busy and disclaimer is very very small. Overall was great!

Yelp
The food is always delicious, and it's very reasonably priced for Temecula, whether you're getting all you can eat or ordering from the regular menu, I've never left unsatisfied with my meal or shocked at the price. Service can be a bit lackluster, but generally the staff is kind. There's not much decor, it's fairly plain. Used to be a fast food place and it's never been updated. I'd say the only big downside is the place is always warm. They have no fans and don't run AC.

Rebecca J.

Yelp
My favorite sushi place in town!! Great service. My favorite rolls are the Jessica roll and I believe it's called Yellowtail on fire!!

Kalya F.

Yelp
Our first time here, not recommend and will never come back again. I was taking my husband for his birthday dinner. The waitress did not explain well about the menu either. When the bill came up one of the waitress is very rude that yelling us. All the sushi has same taste. Not good. The fish on top is dry not fresh. I try many sushi places before. I was trying this place because it has 4 stars in there. I put 1 star so i can put the review. I think Sapporo sushi is much way better than this place. The chef shoud try their sushi taste good or not before they serve to the customers. Around our area, this is the worst sushi we ever try.
google avatar

Darlene B.

Yelp
My mom and I usually have a specific spot we go to for sushi, but we wanted to try something different so we came here. We opted for the AYCE option since it seemed like a good deal. I ordered a few handrolls, some sushi rolls, nigiri, salads, etc. I was pretty disappointed with the handrolls because it was so hard to eat. The nori wasn't crunchy and the fish didn't taste fresh. I honestly can't remember much about anything else except that we weren't impressed by the food selection. We also were seated in the corner where it was dimly lit and almost hard to see your food. It's as if they don't want you to see what your food looks like when you get it. I probably wouldn't come back here and I cannot recommend it.
google avatar

Robert R.

Yelp
Came back today after my review and I can happily confirm they fixed the water and soda issue. I'll be back, this is my favorite sushi in town again.

David D.

Yelp
Very good sushi for AYCE and in riverside county. Price was about $32 for the all you can eat and included nigiri and premium rolls. I've only had one better place in Orange County, but this place is better than any other sushi I've had in Murrieta/temecula area. Service was great too.

Alyssa D.

Yelp
Ayce lunch is $31.99 Great fresh food. Obsessed with the garlic edamame, spicy monster and green baked mussels. Will absolutely be returning and hopefully soon.

Samantha J.

Yelp
Before i rave about this place heres their current all you can eat pricing & times as of Oct2024: Lunch (weekdays only, before 3pm): $34 Dinner + weekends: $39 They have a special AYCE price going on through Nov2024: Lunch is only $30 & dinner is $35 My review.. Ryu is my new fav sushi spot. They've not only kept their AYCE when most of my other favorite spots gave it up, they've actually perfected it with smaller portions allowing you to try multiple roll without filling up! I LOVE this! And to top it off, when I arrived for their lunch time AYCE i was informed they currently have a price special which I believe is going on all through Nov2024! So normal price for lunch AYCE (before 3pm) was only $30! Thats by far the lowest price in the area with this quality. The service here is always wonderful, today was no exception. My server was fast and attentive, i never had to ask for refills and the food came out lightning fast. I had 2 rounds off the all you can eat menu and I didn't wait even 5 minutes before it got to my table. Big thank you to Ryu & their staff for making my casual lunch memorable & impeccable!

Yelp
I sometimes go to a restaurant by myself, just to get away from the house and relax. I like coming here because they have an indoor and outdoor seating area. The outdoor area has a covered patio. The food is good as always. The quality and taste are very good and the presentation is on point. The service was great as well. I went on a day that was not too busy and my server was coming to my table every three to four minutes just to check on me. I understand that if more customers were present, that this service time would probably be extended. The ambiance was normal as an any other restaurant. The restaurant was clean, the staff was professional and food was good. What else can you really ask for? Keep up the good work.

Yelp
Best all you can eat in town . A lot of carpaccio option which is sashimi style and they do have no rice and alot of special rolls are half size . And blue fin tuna and yellow tail carpaccio is must try ..

Blair V.

Yelp
Great service. Ambiance is ok, food is very good, lots to choose from. Love the baked and non rice options.

Yelp
Service was great and quick! Large selection to pick from and was delicious! Definitely got my moneys worth on the all you can eat!

Yelp
Great All You Can Eat spot. Everything I ordered was delicious. The rolls were so generously filled and all the ingredients were super fresh. Sauces were perfect and not overpowering. Chicken teriyaki was moist (especially considering it was thinly sliced breast meat) and the sauce was light and not overly sweet. They definitely lost money on me hahaha. Yelp
I give 4 stars because the food is fresh and very tasty. Their yellowtail is , and the bluefin is like butter. Depending on the servers the experience can be spectacular. I'll definitely visit again if I'm in the area and have a taste for sushi.

Jamie R.

Yelp
My partner and I were Temecula last weekend and decided to go here based on the reviews. WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. We came here in the afternoon for AYCE. I've never waited so long at any AYCE restaurant. Each round took about 30 - 40 minutes which was surprising since it wasn't busy. Our waitress was not attentive and never followed up with paycheck so we took it upon ourself to just pay at the front. The food was okay...been to other sushi restaurant that offered more varieties and flavors. I couldn't believe how terrible the wait and customer service was.
