LA’s Catch Was Ground Zero For Kawhi Leonard Coming to the LA Clippers | Eater LA

"Located adjacent to the Brentwood Katsuya, this bar embraces a Miami-influenced design with indoor-outdoor flow and a menu of film-inspired cocktails that nod to classic movies and pop culture." - Mona Holmes

Clubby New S Bar Katsuya Hits Brentwood With Cocktails and Chandeliers | Eater LA

"Arriving adjacent to Katsuya under the SBE umbrella, I expect S Bar will bring bar bites and late nights to Brentwood; it's being positioned as an upscale-but-edgier companion that will likely share a kitchen and have some menu overlap with Katsuya. The Brickell, Miami location's menu gives a sense of what to expect — items such as a $21 rock shrimp banh mi and $18 cheesesteak empanadas — and a company rep describes the Brentwood space as "upscale but with more edge." In Miami that translated to chandeliers, tall ceilings, and plush banquette seating; in Brentwood the plans include a large patio and more than one private dining room. For now the site is behind construction barriers with only a teaser sign out front, and Katsuya reps say S Bar should be open by the end of summer or early fall." - Farley Elliott

Google
Ambiance is great. Service leaves much to be desired and in the second week of operations I’m conscious of their having to work out the kinks. Was seated and drink order taken within 10 minutes or so. After 10 more minutes we were served the wrong drinks. The server realized the mistake, returned to the table, took the drinks and re-served them to another table. That blunder may have caused delay in our drinks being served as the table next to us got served first. After total wait time of 28 minutes without a drink we decided to leave. Disappointing. Will reassess when there’s been time to address issues like this.

Google
Great compliment to Katsuya. Food and drinks are great…great addition to the neighborhood - nothing like it in the area

Yelp
I first came here when they had just opened the bar, and it seems to have become pretty popular. It was fairly busy on a Thursday night. The food was really good but portions are small and prices are high so that's something to consider. The lemon salmon roll is easily one of my favorite rolls ever, with the lemon slice being very thin and balanced well with everything else. Usually when places put a lemon slice on a roll it's way too big and makes the whole thing really sour and bitter. I'd come back just for this roll, and for the brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts are honestly way overpriced for something that doesn't even have any meat in it but they do taste good so if I was gonna splurge I'd get these two appetizers and a drink. I don't remember what drink I ordered but it was pretty good. I've had several of their drinks and I didn't think any of them particularly stood out but they were fine.

Yelp
If you aren't from Brentwood this place is a little strange. The atmosphere was . . . different. I don't think it has anything to do with the staff it's just the people who are close to this location. Very . . . monochromatic . It felt like an upscale Cheesecake Factory with a DJ. The drinks were kind of whatever and expensive. This place saving grace was a bartender named Cassidy (I think). She was making drinks. If I ever go back I'll probably request her & the "old fashioned whiskey sour." If she not there I'm leaving.

Yelp
I've been to S Bar twice and both times was served by Cher, one of the bartenders. She has excellent knowledge of craft cocktails and recommended drinks based on my taste preferences. I would recommend trying the Sahara Tent, it's a unique cocktail with a savory seaweed and sesame crusted rim. The place has an amazing vibe and has a DJ Thursday-Saturday. Check them out!

Yelp
The entrance for S Bar is through the neighboring restaurant, Katsuya. They have a nice outdoor area. The menu includes interesting cocktails with Japanese food, served in tapas style. Though the drinks were good, I thought that the food was a little overpriced.

Yelp
Helloooo S Bar!!! Wow am I happy Brentwood had a local lounge bar. From the moment my friends and I walked in, the welcoming atmosphere held up strong. The manager and our server (Nev) made our first experience at S Bar all we could ask for. The cocktails - YUM!! I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu (in due time of course). Not only that, but I can't wait to see this place pop off as a new up and coming bar. While my friends and I went later into the evening, the fact that they serve Katsuya's menu has me even more excited to stop by again during dinner hours. Seriously though, this place has live music, great cocktails, and an amazing atmosphere. If you're on edge about coming, just do it. You won't regret.

Yelp
Great food- very expensive. Katsuya is way better; a much more pleasant dining experience where you pay the same price for a nicer setting. Service is good. Overall, katsuya is way better

Yelp
I really love this place. I stopped by last Saturday with some friends and I had theeee best time! While I didn't order any food, I had some crisp and delicious drinks. My friends enjoyed their food but I was ketoing and on a liquid diet. The decor is trendy and intoxicating and the severs were working their butts off but remained efficient and super friendly. The best part was the DJ! He was PHENOMENAL. His music choices were solid!!! On my way out, the hostess told me that they just started their happy hour menu so I'm really excited to go back and cheese that out.

Yelp
The twins, and Taylor, were all so fun! If not for the delicious drinks, we will go back just for them. See you soon!

Yelp
S Bar has had a bit of a turnover in management since opening post COVID. Then came David. The bar staff has always been very personable and attentive but David sprinkled his magic and transformed S Bar into one of the most efficient and highly respected sushi restaurant/bars in Los Angeles. It should be the blueprint for how restaurants should be run. The customers are well fed with terrific sushi, the staff seems happy (with very little turnover-always a good sign) and the adoring public is very happy knowing that they can come to a welcoming, comfortable place that provides exceptional service. Cassidy and Enya are 2 of my favorites but I can count on all of the servers to lay down a great meal with a smile. There aren't too many places that hat can compete with the hospitality is S Bar.

Yelp
I am new to the Brentwood area and decided to check out this spot on recommendation from a friend, and I am SO happy I did!!! Our server (Nev) was amazing, and recommended each of us drinks that were DELICIOUS. The service was excellent - one of the managers (Taylor) came over to our table to introduce himself and get to know us. I went on a Thursday night and there was a DJ and dancing. There is a large bar, as well as tables and room to dance. Great vibes, great service, great drinks. I will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Great location for drinks with an amazing ambiance. Love to grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are super attentive and on point. Taylor is one of my favorites. The Sahara tent cocktail is delicious as well as the Jade Wins. Every dish I've had is also spectacular. The lemon roll (pictured) was recommended and I'll be ordering that every visit going forward. Perfect balance of sweet, sour and tart made with fresh fish.

Yelp
This, in no way, compares to Katsuya next door. Sure, in ambiance it's nice and trendy. But food options are beyond limited and there is no happy hour (which... It's a bar. Katsuya next door has a great bar happy hour that we have gone to for years.) We ordered the $20 sashimi platter which is served on a sheet of ice instead of a plate. Definitely cool in theory (no pun intended), but in practice it literally freezes your raw fish into a slushy texture, which is not functional for eating. Half your fish sticks to the ice like it's the kid's tongue in A Christmas Story! Also the amount of sashimi for $20 is pretty tiny. The menu states you're added an automatic 18% gratuity for all bills, but our check explicitly noted gratuity was not included. It was confusing, especially if you've had a few drinks, so definitely double check your bill so you don't tip twice accidentally. Overall I was underwhelmed, especially for what I expected as someone who has gone to SBE places all over for more than a decade.

Yelp
We had the worst experience of our lives and still are traumatized! Once seated, we had to first wait 45mins for someone to come to take our order. The place was empty! Then after we ordered our drinks from the special drinks menu, our drinks tasted awful and had to send it back! We decided to make it simple and ordered basic common drinks, for example a Dirty Martini, which came looking like glass of orange juice! Had to return our second round of drinks! In the mean time we had ordered some food, which was never served to us. By the time we asked about our food order, we were told the kitchen had been closed! So we came out thirsty and hungry~~ Unfortunately they did not allow us to order from next door! For some reason, they still don't have a professional Bar Tender or staff yet. Hopefully they will get it together and make this location better in the future.

Yelp
Huge rip off! I'm not one to yelp but i feel wronged. My friend and I each ordered a glass of wine (rose and syrah) which was $11 each. The price is besides the matter. The waitress gives us our wine and the bill is $40 and the wine on the receipt is different then what we ordered. I kindly told the waitress that I don't think this is what I ordered and her response was "yeah it is that's the cheapest wine we have our menu is pretty janky right now". Like what??? I don't care about the extra $10 I paid, her explanation just doesn't make sense and I was totally ripped off. Katsuya is way better. Love that place!!!

Yelp
This is our new hang out spot! Cool music and people. It's right next door to Katsuya which we love! Drinks are good as well as ambiance. The food was amazing specifically the wagyu sliders!
