Yelp
I was really excited when S-Mart opened. It is really close to where I live, their parking lot is never crowded, and they have a nice variety of items which are very fairly priced.
Being able to find a product that I normally would have to drive clear to Uwajimaya to get, along with the friendly staff, made shopping there a great expience and something I always looked forward to. That is, until my trip there at around 1:00 p.m on 7/02/2020.
The unblelievable rudeness towards me by the woman (asian, middle aged, straight black hair just above the shoulders) who rang up my purchase at 1:31 p.m. at register 5 on 7/02/20 (according to my receipt) is a very serious and disturbing matter, not to mention the significant emotionall and psychological trauma it has caused me.
Here is how the transaction went from begging to end:
1. I removed the items from the basket, placed them on conveyor and placed the basket beneath the conveyor. She scaned the items, placed them in a bag, and I paid. Not once did acknowlege me in any way. She accomplished this by not saying a single word and by looking down the entire time.
At this point, I felt very uncomfortable. And, if this wasn't bad enough, the worst part of this horrible experience was at end when she threw (yes threw!) the receipt across the counter at me!
I sincerely hope you take my word as to what happened. I say this because I simply do not have the energy (I have debilitating fatigue due an illness) to post much of anything at all, ever. However, I felt strongly enough about this, that I felt it was absolutely necessary to say something.
At the time of the incident, I really wish I had gotten a store manager or at least looked at her name tag to get her name, but I was just so upset and shocked by what happened, that I just wanted to get out of there. I did though, once I got to my car, call the store at about 1:40 p.m. the same day and left a message about the incident. I never got any kind of reply though, so I wrote this post to make sure the manager and/or owner knows about this.
I hope the details I've given you are enough to identify which of your female employees felt it was okay to treat me so horribly.
Unfortunatley, I strongly believe she treated me this way because I happen to be white.
