Hereafter

Hearafter is a hidden sort of speakeasy tucked away in the basement beneath Misfits downtown. It can be a little tricky to find the first time, but once you’ve been there, it’s easy to make your way back. The space has this classic underground lounge vibe, with a relaxed/dark atmosphere and occasional live music that fits perfectly with the setting. The drinks are where Hearafter really shines though. Everything we tried was excellent, but the standout was a Malört-based cocktail that somehow managed to taste fantastic. Any place that can have me put “Malört” and “taste fantastic” in the same sentence deserves a visit for that alone. The food is also surprisingly good for a bar, rounding out the experience nicely. Overall, Hearafter is the kind of place that’s easy to miss but hard to forget; great drinks, good food, and a cool hidden location make it well worth seeking out. Also, the two bartenders that were working there the night we went were absolutely perfect. Personable, witty, just the right amount of banter.

What a hidden gem! Walking into the bar felt like stepping into a completely different world. The atmosphere? The bartenders? The drinks? All superb. My husband had some excellent whiskey while I was accommodated with an amazing mocktail. A definite need to go if you're in Louisville!

Super cool space and the vibe was chill! Limited range on craft cocktails but what’s on menu was excellent. The bartenders were super friendly and they really made the atmosphere. They even learned to make aviation cocktails for us and they were spectacular. Great place to hangout with friends.

If you are looking for something a little offbeat, this is absolutely a must see and drink. Spirits menu is impressive and the cocktails were absolutely fantastic. Great vibe with a wide range of ages - 30's to 80's and everyone was having a great time. Take the elevator down to a really great spot!

Hereafter is a hidden gem that feels more like a speakeasy than most bars billed as "speakeasies". Getting down to the bar is a fun adventure. But what makes this place special isn't just the vibe, the decor, the soft lighting, or the wonderful cocktails both on or off menu. It's the service. Bandit and Tel are exceptional bartenders. Not just in their skill, but their genuine care for their customers. You come to the bar for a drink, but make friends along the way. It's a pretty special place. I'm hesitant to leave a review, because I'd love it to be my secret, but it's selfish to hoard such a lovely place and team. Thank you all!! ♥️

Loved the atmosphere! No snacks as the kitchen was closed. So I ordered one drink and didn't stay long. Will go back next time in Louisville. I loved the decor.

Hereafter is the right blend of spooky, welcoming, divey and homey. Add delicious cocktails and life changing tacos by Chef KP and you’ve got yourself a perfect gem for a night out. Here on a Tuesday (lucky enough to experience the tacos), but will definitely be back the next time I’m in Louisville. So glad I stumbled upon this spot and have spent several hours just enjoying the relaxed vibe with a spooky dive twist. (Extra shout out to the welcoming nature for the rainbow family!)

Charlie and V are genuine hosts. Authentic conversation, cozy atmosphere, homey seats... Hereafter is an absolute dig. Pure comfort. Sole reason to visit Louisville.

This place was way cool. Another place located in the basement and chill vibe. They have food, bourbon and cocktails, and my husband had a few drinks. The lovely Lily was performing tonight, good voice/ covers, which had me staying longer than I anticipated. Staff is young, energetic and all very friendly. Crowd totally mixed and just a good time. Love the decor too!!

I had an amazing time here at Hereafter! The drinks were just splendid and the pricing was very reasonable too! The service was just super friendly and very hardworking. The ambiance was cool and interior was clean! 5 stars.

The Sazerac at Hereafter continues to be my favorite in Louisville, and when you mix a great sazerac with great entertainment, the possibilities are endless (and dangerous). I will always call this place Jimmy Can't Dance, but I am grateful for any name change that keeps this place open. I recommend a burlesque night, but any night here is a good night!

Hidden away dark speakeasy type place with creative cocktails, live music, quirky staff. One of them was coloring with a GIANT tub of well organized markers at the bar. That did not detract from her service. We got drinks when we wanted them and they were good. I would go here with some regularity if I lived nearby. Give it a shot if oddball bars are your thing.

Great vibe... friendly staff... quirky in the best of ways. This is the downstairs bar for The Misfit Lou. You can order off of that menu and your order gets delivered to you in the bar. This joint is a bit off the beaten path as compared to the downtown bars, but totally worth seeking out. Better prices, expertly crafted cocktails and overall great vibe.

Fun little speakeasy bar in downtown Louisville! The bartender was so friendly, with her Malort sweater and all! We had some time to kill and Hereafter had been recommended to us by one of our tour guides so we figured we'd check it out! We arrived just as they opened and it happened to be Happy Hour as well! We chatted with the sweet bartender and had a couple drinks. The inside is decorated very well, great vibes! I was curious about the upstairs, not sure if thats open to patrons or not but I did not investigate. Keep this place in mind if you are looking for a speakeasy spot for some drinks!

Beautiful place! I love their entrance. It is so neat. You have to see it for yourself. The bartenders are so nice and the cocktails are amazing. They do have live music from Wed to Saturday with different bands or singers. This is the place that I will go back.

Absolutely love this place! Me and my wife originally came here before dinner reservations on our anniversary over a year ago but have come back multiple times! It's a great atmosphere to hang out, chill, talk, and have a few drinks. The staff are absolutely incredible! Every time we come they always make us very welcomed and talk to us like we've known them for years! We have also met one of the owners working there before and she was the hardest worker there! You can tell the owners expect nothing but the best service from their employees! This is our favorite little spot where we have created a lot of memories! No college kids or frat boys looking to get lit or turnt up. Just a great crowd of adults looking to wind down and chill out.

Great date spot or place to grab a nice cocktail with friends. It's in the basement of the misfit and has a good amount of seating. The drink menu had a lot of good options. I can't remember the names of what we ordered but one was an old fashioned and the other had a pear flavor to it. Both were great. There wasn't any live music but I could see this place being busy if they had someone playing. Cool spot!

I spent the weekend In Louisville on a work trip and this bar was easily the best experience I had. Amazing cocktails, amazing service and amazing vibe. Zack, KP, and Bandit made me feel right at home with great conversations and great drinks. I went meaning to spend time enough for one cocktail, but ended up staying for three hours. When I come back to town this is the first place I'll be visiting.

Stopped in Saturday night after dinner at Mussels and Burgers with a friend. And to say that we enjoyed it is a understatement! Zach our primary bartender was and absolute pleasure! We gave him free reign, and he definitely did not disappoint! Between his awesome personality and the cool chill vibe, it made for a great night! We'll definitely make a return visit!

Who doesn't love a cozy, warm cocktail bar nestled in the basement of a deli? This spot brings lots of original charm and gives a vintage feel that almost transports you to another time. The low lighting helps give it a romantic feel and definitely helps us all look our absolute best. They often have some fun entertainment going on as well, so make sure you don't miss out on some live music or stand up comedy! The staff are friendly and know how to mix a solid cocktail! They also have plenty of wine, beer, and mocktail options if you're more inclined. Throw on your favorite fit and head down to Hereafter for a memorable night! Hey, you might even fall in love while you're there...or at least score a hot new crush!

My favorite speakeasy in Louisville, hands down. Cozy, dimly lit, comfortable, with exposed brick and vintage artwork and decor, it really gives off the vibe of a special destination. The owners are gregarious and welcoming. Their mixologists have won cocktail awards and it shows. The menu is well curated and the prices are so affordable. I've seen some great live music here as well, usually something jazzy or bluesy, it really sets the mood. Definitely a new local go-to!

If you're looking for the Speakeasy vibe this is your place. They play old movies and mix some of the best cocktails you have ever tasted. The service was great!!!

Really enjoyed it for an after dinner drink. Unassuming place below street level. At first my wife wasn't sure but we grabbed a table and ordered some drinks. Competent bartenders and good drinks. There was a 1950s Japanese sci-fi movie playing ( no sound). Nice selection of music playing. Fun place

What a super cool space! Huge selection of drinks, craft cocktails, and beers. Staff is well versed and knowledgeable in bourbon from their work in the local area. Met the owners and they are very enthusiastic and welcoming, another great find in downtown Louisville.
