Yoshino Asian Fusion

We love this restaurant and have been several times when visiting Pittsburgh. Great selection of delicious sushi, very nice staff and we are always impressed with the artwork the sushi chefs do with the sauces on the plates! They also have other fun decorative touches they add along with other cool plates and sushi boats. The restaurant also offers hot food options land we’ve been happy with those as well. Overall just a really good solid sushi place and perfect for date night or families.

Food tastes amazing. Mostly sushi tastes bland but this one had distinct taste and love to it. Wasabi is super spicy, jalapeños are actually jalapeñoning lol. Service is cool, space is clean. Bathroom could use some cleaning to be honest! Thank you

The food here is unfailingly fresh and delicious, the staff are always polite and attentive, and the creative plating makes each visit special because even when I get the same food items, I know my sushi rolls are being attentively made and beautifully presented! (For real— look how cute this one I got last night is! Flowers drawn with sauce and a wasabi-and-cucumber butterfly!)

Yoshino is an Asian-fusion restaurant—so don’t expect authentic flavors, but they do a good job within the fusion standard. The tuna roll I tried was quite good, and the chicken teriyaki was served as a large portion with a large bowl of rice. Overall, the portions of the hot dish are big and well worth the price. The restaurant offers indoor seating only, and there’s usually no wait for a table. Food comes out quickly, which is great for a casual meal. Parking is generally available along Walnut Street nearby.

Yesterday was my first time trying Yoshino. I ordered takeout for myself and my companions. Upon arrival, a gentleman behind the bar greeted me and asked for my info. After I mentioned that it was my first time ordering from Yoshino he asked where I was from and we chatted for several minutes. I forgot to include eel sauce in my order. The gentleman said that it’s normally a $1 charge, but waived the charge for me, likely due to the amount I’d already spent. The food was great. I had the combo poke bowl and everything tasted fresh. The flavors meshed well and there was a slight kick that brought life to the flavors of the fish. I also tried their fried shrimp roll and it was delicious. Their premium rolls are huge and I could make a meal out of one roll, as opposed to two basic rolls. I would definitely return for the food, ambiance, and service.

Really good food great service and lots of unique and interesting menu items! The space is very chill with comfortable seating and nice lighting conveniently located in the middle of Shadyside. Sushi is really good quality and beautifully presented and it's a little pricey but worth it! The starters are very cheap though and very good, definitely recommend

One word: WOW. My family and I came to this restaurant for a nice, family night out. Little did we know, we were in for a treat. We were greeted by a little projection on the floor outside, and we walked in thinking it was a normal sushi place. We had called, so the staff greeted us and showed us our table. We were immediately given waters, and we ordered other drinks. They came surprisingly fast. Another thing I took note of while sitting there was that the place was surprisingly empty. Barely anyone was there, and it was a Friday night. We ordered our food and the appetizers came pretty fast. We ordered the egg roll, Crab Rangoon, and ginger salad. They were amazing, and you could tell all the condiments were homemade. About five minutes after we finished appetizers, the entree came. To put it simply, I was stunned. As far as I was concerned, it wasn’t food; it was art. I cannot describe it any better, so I’ve attached the image of the food. We ordered the tuna roll, salmon roll, tuna a la carte, masago a la carte, salmon roe a la carte, the Steelers roll, the Mount Everest roll, and escolar sashimi. My favorite was by far the Steelers roll. It was probably some of the best food I’ve ever put into my mouth, and it was definitely the best sushi. The price of it isn’t bad either. It’s about $10 for a simpler roll, and around $15-20 for a more complex one. It’s definitely worth it. After the first round, we decided we wanted some more. We ordered more escolar sashimi and the Monster roll (without jalapeño, because I don’t really like those!). These were, as expected, AMAZING. Overall, this was a 10/10 experience. The staff were very friendly and kind, the food was phenomenal, and the ambiance was calm. I would definitely recommend this. If you’re in Pittsburgh and you’re craving sushi, come to this place. It is 100% worth it, and you will not be let down.

Ordered volcano rolls and my gosh, the visual look of it was spectacular, and it was as delicious as it looked. I also got a Japanese drink, and that was equally yummy!

The large menu includes both Japanese and Chinese cuisine. For the quality and quantity of the dishes are reasonable priced. It's our Christmas dinner tradition

Had an excellent lunch at Yoshino. My daughter and I started with the sheggy roll. We loved it, especially the flamed salmon on top which gave it this subtle smoky flavor. It had a very artistic presentation too. For the main course, we shared the pan fried udon noodle with beef. Spot on. Great food, nice decor, good service. 5 stars.

One of my favorite sushi spots in Pittsburgh! Always tastes fresh and prices are great! Love the combos. They also always get the order correct when doing pickup/delivery. Nice staff as well!

It was a pretty decent sushi roll! Everything came out quick and ready to eat! Loved the decorated plate (believe it's colored Mayo). I got the sampler maki roll platter $16 and it was delicious but they all did have a similar taste. I would suggest checking it out!

I have been here multiple times and have always found the ambiance to be chill while also being attentive! The staff is patient and helpful. The food is so beautiful and yummy! Will always bring visitors to the city here.

This is starting to become one of my favorite lunch spots. Their sushi is a work of art! The plating here is amazing for a regular sushi joint. The food always hits the spot and the staff is always great. They don't have a liquor license but can offer you wine on the house. It is clean and they can accommodate a large group. Highly recommend.

Yoshino's service was pretty good. They have a very deep menu with a lot of different options, so I am excited to go back and try other items. I got the triple crown, which was really good, although there was a little too much sauce for my liking. Yoshino was busy but not too loud; I was still able to easily have a conversation.

I have yet to eat in but I've grabbed takeout at least 10 times now. It's my favorite sushi that I've had in Pittsburgh. Staff is always super friendly as well.

Hubby says this used to be a different Asian restaurant, and everything looks and tastes better now. We grabbed a quick dinner here before a concert at Third Pres. The kitchen was fast, and everything was delicious. We're subtly going to eat here again.

Such a cute and fun place to get sushi! The rolls are huge, and they decorate them in such a cute way. Food comes out fast too which is a huge plus. This is the perfect place for a date night or casual dinner with friends. I got the Monster Roll, which came with 10 huge pieces of sushi. Plenty to feel full and have leftovers! Definitely will be coming back again

We did not mean to end up here for dinner but we are so glad we did! This was one of our best meals in a while. First off every worker was the nicest person. They were sooo friendly! We ended up getting the sushi and sashimi combo that was $40. It was wonderful. There was so much on it that I have not had before...so fresh!!! This came with soup so my husband had the miso and thought it was the best he ever had. I added wonton soup, and it was really good. The wontons were so good that I would love to taste the dumplings the next time we go, and there will be a next time for sure!

What a gem on Walnut Street! You get so much food for such a good price! Everything is so flavorful and was cooked to perfection. I cannot wait to get their food more often. The only downfall was that it was kind of...run down? One of the front doors was broken and looked like it had been for a while. Additionally, they had their silverware and stuff for table turnover in the middle of the dining room. It was a little strange, but I'll still go back.

I don't typically review takeout orders, but this one was too good not to highlight! My boyfriend and I ordered a sushi feast for dinner the other night, and we loved it! We picked some different rolls to share as well as salmon sushi & edamame. My favorite thing about Yoshino is the wide variety of specialty rolls they offer. Our favorites were the allison roll & pink pantheress roll. Both were super bright and had some spice. We both agreed that the edamame could use some extra flavoring, so we created a spice mix at home & coated that over the edamame. I will definitely be ordering from Yoshino again!

Yoshino is consistently tasty and quick! Yoshino is THE Sunday night takeout spot. Most times they deliver food to my house within 30 minutes of ordering. My boyfriend enjoys their beef lo mien, general tsos, and salmon nigiri. I typically order sushi. The cucumber/avocado rolls, salmon, spicy tuna, and California rolls are all gluten free. When I've eaten inside the restaurant, the service was good and the food was just as tasty. Great window seats for people watching on Walnut street.

I pick up sushi from here pretty regularly because I live so close. It's always been ready fast and it's great every time. I haven't sat down and eaten here before so I can't speak on the sit down service or atmosphere really, but the sushi is great! Only downside is that I find it's a little pricey but it's great quality. I really like that they have some fun veggie rolls also!

Kind of middling, but I can't tell if that's just my specific order or a more general issue. We ordered takeout on a Saturday afternoon, and the online ordering experience was great. The only ordering issue was the distinction between the Japanese/sushi side of the menu and the Chinese/Thai side of the menu (which is itself a weird grouping). It wasn't always clear where to find a particular dish (e.g., miso soup was on the Chinese/Thai side of the menu, for some reason). The food itself was mixed. The California roll was solid, but the hipster roll was kind of a mess. Beyond just the avocado of questionable quality, it seemed like the combination of ingredients was both out of balance and uninspired. The salmon poke bowl was probably the best item in our order: it was nicely arranged with nicely balanced ingredients. Overall, the restaurant was fine. It just wasn't sufficiently inspired for me to head back again.

I have eaten here multiple times and it is consistently good. The staff is attentive and it has a quaint ambiance. I have rarely seen them on a long wait. We have tried appetizers, sushi, thai, and chinese options, but sushi is definitely their specialty.

This is now my go to spot for takeout sushi in Pittsburgh! This is definitely some of the best sushi I've had for takeout. We got a few different kinds and they all came in a platter so we could share the different rolls. I didn't even need soy sauce for some of the rolls because they already had so much flavor. For anyone looking for sushi, give this place a shot!

Man! What a fun place to find. The food and the presentation were equally awesome. My friend had been here many times before. They have an entire bubble tea menu but! no bubble tea after 8pm. Honestly this is the best I've had in the area. The tea flavor was high quality not too sweet and the boba was perfect. Also, I really enjoyed the Mario Cart roll (crunchy shrimp and other yummy stuff.. pink rice wrapper) and I got the lobster avocado f salad. If you don't like wasabi it might not be for you! But I enjoyed it. Just kept chocking on the wasabi spice a little I am really excited to come back and enjoy this menu more! Plenty of options and their prices were reasonable. Also located on walnut which is a great area with plenty of shops to explore after. I was also happily surprised the wait time wasn't long even on a Friday night.

Great food, decent ambience, and mediocre service :). I can't speak to all the food here, but the sushi rolls are quite good and also generously proportioned. Between the three of us we got the following rolls: The Mount Everest roll: 10 pieces of yellowtail and salmon with avocado. Delicious. Monster Roll: 10 pieces of spicy tuna, Kani, cucumber, avocado. Spider roll: 5 pieces of soft shell crab Orochi Roll: similar to spider roll but 10 pieces and came with spicy crab -- I liked it better. Marilyn Mon Roll: yeah you read that right :). 10 pieces of Soft shell crab, masago, cucumber. Was good. Sakan Roll: had eel and kani in it. Was great. Again 10 pieces. This was quite a feat to finish for three of us, but we managed :). Everything was great, except for the service, which let's be kind and say was on the curt side .

Amazingly fresh fish!! That's what I'm here for! We got a large platter for four, along with one app, and couldn't even finish it, although we sure tried... ;)

A Walnut St. staple!! Yoshino surprises me again and again. From their thoughtful and unique dish presentation to fresh food, I've always had a great meal. Although admittedly lacking in ambiance, I find that the friendly service and food makes this a worthwhile stop. One of my favorite activities as a grad student living in shadyside is to grab a booth or a seat by the window and study with a side of sushi. You can even order bubble tea from the shop across the street from your waiter!

I absolutely love this place! The food is delicious. The presentation is fantastic. The staff is nice and quick. The atmosphere is nice and classy. My favorite appetizers are: Tuna Salmon Ceviche and Mango Lobster salad The specialty Rolls are delicious. I tried the Monster Roll and the Love in the star roll. I have been here four times so far and I will go back again to try more food from their great menu.

Miso soup and ginger salad are not to miss for their flavors. My tempura and my dad's teriyaki were both scrumptious. Service was warm and helpful. My dad loved the jazz music playing. Located in a walkable area.

Sushi is good here and always beautiful decorated! My only qualm is that I've noticed the rolls get smaller over time, which is understandable with the cost of ingredients now a days. The Sakan roll was $16 and came with 8 pieces, but each piece was only a bit larger than the size of a quarter. Overall, the sushi is always good, but expensive in my opinion for the quality.

We were in Shadyside on a late Thursday evening, and settled on Yoshino. I'm sure this place gets crowded during the normal rush hours, but we were seated promptly to a booth of our choice. Yoshino had a great selection of maki, and if you don't go for the crazy "specialty" rolls, the prices were also quite reasonable. What I appreciated most was even the normal maki used really thick whole pieces, whether it was salmon or yellowtail or tuna. They plated everything beautifully, and particularly by sushi standards, our order came out promptly.

Cute little restaurant. Has excellent sushi. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. This is the sushi/sashimi combo #1. Best overall sushi meal I can think of. At $40 maybe best value. Every piece was generous and delicious. Yup get down here!

It's been a long time since I've had roti canai. and I've been craving it lately. Yoshino is known for their sushi, but they also serve this dish, among other items like Chinese classics, some Thai food, noodles, lots of appetizers, and more. I tried their shrimp egg roll, classic egg roll, pork dumplings, and roti canai. The egg rolls were relatively standard. I believe they gave me the wrong ones, though. I believe I received a spring roll with shrimp and an egg roll with pork (not what I originally ordered). Still, they were pretty tasty. Not much shrimp in the shrimp roll. The egg roll was decent in size but a bit on the expensive side. Flavor is very standard, goes well with some of the complimentary sauces. I even dipped it in my leftover curry sauce. The pork dumplings were extremely disappointing. The only genuinely tasty part of these dumplings was the sauce. They were far too doughy and thick. The inside was odd and slimy. The pork was not raw, but seemed to be undercooked a bit. The smell was similar to peanuts and just strange. Flavor was terrible. Would not recommend. The roti Canai, however, was very good. I would go here just for some roti Canai, since it's difficult to find here in Pittsburgh. The roti portion was great and the bread was well made (great texture, oiliness level, and flavor). The dipping sauce/curry was excellent. A bit sweet and coconutty, and paired so well with the roti. I just don't understand why they put the roti on some wilted lettuce (no one is going to eat that lettuce, its irrelevant to the dish and it's just a waste). All in all, this place is known for sushi, and maybe that is their strength. But, their Chinese staples like egg rolls and dumplings are definitely lacking. If you come here, try the roti Canai (its very tasty and difficult to find in this area). Prices are a bit on the high side.

Had a delicious lunch here while visiting Pittsburgh. There is a small front dining area and a larger back dining room. We sat in the back dining room. Service was very fast and our server was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the salmon avocado roll, spicy tuna roll and flower roll. We also enjoyed our salmon and tuna sashimi. The only thing that was not quite up to the standard of everything else was the white tuna, which wasn't very good. It seemed like it was maybe old or just not very good slices of fish because there was almost a crumbly texture on the top layer. But totally didn't detract from the otherwise delicious meal!

Yum!! We came for sushi and we're very satisfied. The restaurant was clean and charming. The service was kind and quick. We got the Maki 3 combo, Mount Everest Roll, King of Flower Roll, and the Flower Roll. All of them were delicious. The salmon in the flower rolls were really was the star. It was fresh, fatty and made our mouth water. The spicy tuna roll was a little heavy on the wasabi where it took away from the taste of the tuna. The restaurant has a wide variety of food so we'll be back to try more!

This place has nice vibes inside but the food was only OK. We liked the service here and the fact that it was pretty quiet and empty. The pork fried rice was very bland but it looked like they used a lot of soy sauce. The sushi was mediocre too. It will do it if you need to hit that sushi craving, but the spicy tuna roll was not it. There wasn't a whole lot of flavor and the fish was not very good. The shrimp tempura roll is really good and I liked the spicy crab. I like that they have maki combos here, but we spent $60 with tip on two maki combos and a pork fried rice. We will probably not be back.

Solid sushi in Pittsburgh at a decent price point. I enjoyed the sushi set I ordered which came with a miso soup or salad and some nigiri and a spicy tuna roll. Good spot to get your sushi fix on Walnut street and better than some other options around.

I always walked by this restaurant but finally decided to dine in. Thank goodness my husband and I dined in, the food is delicious! Everything on their menu is fantastic. They have a large menu that includes a variety of menu items from sushi to Chinese food entree plates. I highly recommend their sushi, their sushi is delicious and by far one of the best sushi places we have been too in Pittsburgh thus far. Their rolls are not stuff with a lot of rice, which is one of my pet peeves, when you have such little fish inside the roll surrounded with a lot of white rice. Their sushi rolls are made perfectly, right amount of white rice. The fish is fresh and delicious. Also, lets talk about how beautiful they design their sushi plates when they arrive to the table. The sushi plates are adorned with flowers and beautiful designs with sauces. Great service every time we dine in and we are always sat quickly with our food arriving promptly. Overall, great service, restaurant is very nice inside and the food is delicious. Particularly, their sushi! They have a large menu variety with Poke bowls, ramen, and chinese and Thai food dishes. Since I discovered this restaurant, we have dined here almost weekly. We are os I love with their delicious sushi!

I was craving a poke bowl and of course I went to the ole mighty Yelp to help me find some place good in my area. A few places came up but a lot of places were closed on Monday. Came across Yoshino and boy I'm happy the other places were closed. I ordered the Salmon Pole Bowl for carry out and it was delish. Usually when you order anything to go you don't always get the best quality. I'm not sure how much better this poke bowl would've been had I dined in but I know my take out was wonderful. They have multiple protein options you can choose from to add to your poke bowl. It was very filling and fresh. It consist of Salmon, rice, shredded cucumbers, avocado, ginger, seaweed and wasabi. I definitely will be back. I was so ready to dive into my food then remembered I had to take a pic for my review. Highly recommend.

Excellent service & ambience! My partner and i have been here twice this year alone (it's only February ), and each time is amazing! They have fresh fish and very creative, delicious specialty rolls at a reasonable price for the quantity and quality. Some of my favorites have been the Flipped Roll and the Mount Everest Roll, and my partner loves the spicy yellowtail. Definitely check it out if you're in the area! I think it's of the best moderately priced sushi places in Pittsburgh.

Dropped by for takeout after visiting the Apple Store, with how quick and quality the service is I'll be back soon. I ordered through the site and they had it ready before the estimated time in 15m during dinner hours on a Thursday! The portion sizes are generous, food is hot and fresh, and the veggies are fresh. The vegetable tempura is made with panko and doesn't have the light, fluffy crunch that I'm looking for with tempura, so I likely won't reorder. The amount of tempura for the price, though, is excellent compared to other spots in the area. There's more than enough vegetarian options to keep me coming back and trying new things every time. The interior is beautifully decorated and perfect for a nice weekday sit-down dinner.

I love this place! I feel like it is underrated. The staff is so friendly and kind, the prices are fair, and the food is good! I love their hot and sour soup! Also their crab ragoons are perfect and their sushi is good! It's never too crowded and the atmosphere is clean and cozy!

Absolutely the Best Sushi in Pittsburgh - at totally reasonable prices. Not just the taste, but also the artistic plating is beautiful. Yoshino is a hidden gem - but right in the middle of Walnut Street in Shadyside. Enjoy!!!
