Usually if I have negative things to say about a restaurant that does most things well is that it's just too expensive. And you add the fact it's Newport Beach Huntington Beach. Then you know it's going to be expensive. And it's not cheap. There's no doubt about that but it wasn't outrageous. Their signature cocktails or 1617 bucks but they were strong enough. Same thing with the food good. It's really good and reasonable for the environment that you're in and that's the kicker the environment that you're in. This place sits below Duke's right next to the Huntington Beach Pier. It's right on the water. Essentially views are great. Atmosphere is great. Chill and pleasant. The food was as I said pretty good to really good. They had this turkey ball thing that was delicious. Kind of like Thanksgiving dinner and a little ball of potatoes cranberry sauce, turkey. Delicious! That's what my wife had. I had the mahi tacos and they were also very good and not cheap but not crazy. Finally, when you're looking at a restaurant and trying to review it, service can be critical, especially if the other narratives are not great. Here the restaurant was a great experience. I really enjoyed it but the cherry on top was the service. Now, she did not have a lot of tables so she was able to dedicate time to us but she did and she was nice. Sweet, informative and just a very good server. Super five stars. Usually reserved for White table, restaurants, Michelin star restaurants where the food is. Just fantastic and this food was very good but it's all the ancillary things. Every single thing about it was good. I didn't even mention the fact that the TV situation if you don't want to sit on the patio is really good to watch football games. Great Bar bartender. They knocked it out of the park at least the night we were there.

This is a great place right at the beach! To be honest: I didn’t expect such good food in a „beach cafe“. I was positively surprised! All the dishes were super fresh, very tasty, the sweet potato fries were crunchy! Our server Lisa was friendly, attentive & always with a smile. Thank you!

Service, ambiance, and food were amazing! We had a large group and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the chorizo skillet for breakfast, my husband ordered the breakfast burrito, and our dog ordered the chicken plate with kibble. All that being said, this place is a must when visiting Huntington Beach!

Great fish taco options. I tried the swordfish taco and it tasted really delicious! Staff is friendly and service was great. The vibe and views are amazing.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and clearly made with care. They also offer an impressive selection of beers, which paired perfectly with the meal. The option to sit inside or outside was a nice touch, adding to the overall vibe. While the service was a tad slow, the incredible food and great atmosphere more than made up for it. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a tasty meal and a relaxed dining experience!

This is a really nice place to go to, we wanted to go to the restaurant which is just above and by mistake. We entered that one and that was perfect choice. Food is really good and I really enjoyed the service also.

Visited Sandy's while traveling to visit my uncle. Amazing food, service and drinks. Janna was extremely kinds and helpful. Will be back. Has heat lamps and is right on the beach.

This is one of my favorite places to hang out in the summer. I've never been disappointed with anything here, but my go to is the salmon burger. I especially love coming here for drinks with guests. It's absolutely fantastic for people watching, and it such a great relaxed vibe. And I adore the tiki vibe and colored lights, particularly at night, it adds to the atmosphere.

(3 out of 5 stars) We visited Sandy's Beach Shack in Huntington Beach on November 2nd to celebrate our friend's birthday -- a group of four of us looking to enjoy drinks and the ocean view. We first asked to sit at a high-top table outside overlooking the beach but were told rather abruptly by the host that those tables were reserved for parties of six. We were seated instead near the glass doors inside. A bit later, we noticed a fire pit area with live music and decided to move there to enjoy the atmosphere. After a few songs, security approached us and asked us to move again, saying the fire pit was also reserved for a party of five or six At that point, we asked to speak with the manager, who was absolutely wonderful -- he was understanding, found us a comfortable table for four, and even bought the birthday guest a drink to make up for the situation. His professionalism and kindness really saved the experience. That said, the "party of five or six only" rule for certain tables and fire pits seems unreasonable -- especially since no one ever sat at those spots the entire time we were there. It left us feeling frustrated that management policy prioritized imaginary reservations over actual paying guests. We truly appreciated the manager's customer service, but the upper management should reconsider these seating policies if they want guests to feel welcome rather than turned away.

Food was great- we enjoyed the Chicken Tacos and Bruschetta Flatbread. The sauce that came with the tacos had the perfect kick and flavor! View is great of Huntington Beach whether you sit inside or outside. We dined at the outside part of the bar and bartender Matthew took care of us! He was prompt, friendly and service was fast with food coming out quickly. Will be back again

I've wanted to eat here for years and just never been. We finally came here for some burgers and beers for my birthday and it did not disappoint! Would have wanted to sit outside but it was a bit windy, so we sat inside. The service was great. Our server made sure we never ran out of beer or water. We both ordered the burger with a fried egg on top + fries and the fries were delicious! Extra crispy. We will definitely come back for more.

This is an awesome spot to check out before or after you hit the beach. They have patio seating that's right in front of the boardwalk and ocean. Our bartender was fantastic and made us some beautiful and delicious drinks. We really enjoyed the vibes and will be back to try their menu.

I was in Anaheim for a work conference, and my cousin drove in from San Diego to meet me at Sandy's Shack! A great spot for a little coastal catch-up. The location is unbeatable. Located on Huntington Beach with front row views of the beach & ocean. We ordered the mahi mahi tacos, and wow...fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want in a beachside meal. Service was quick, the vibe was casual and relaxed, and prices were surprisingly affordable for the area. We headed to the beach after dinner & enjoyed the sunset. Perfect SoCal evening.

I was in town enjoying the day at Huntington Beach and grabbed lunch here. I came on a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't too busy. It was perfect and convenient as it's right next to the beach. I ordered the ahi burger with a salad. The ahi burger was perfect and I loved the brioche bun. The side salad was a good size & the vinaigrette was the perfect dressing. The calamari sticks were really good too. Not a lot of batter. The view was really nice as we sat outside. Staff were friendly. Great place to grab a bite after hanging out at the beach.

Stopped by Sandy's after the family went for a walk/run on the beach. We ordered a burger with fries, french toast, cup of clam chowder and mahi mahi fish tacos. Burger was fresh and juicy and fries were delicious! Clam chowder was flavorful. French toast was beautiful to look at and tasty as well and the fish tacos were yummy and the kale salad complimented the tacos really well. Hubby and I dipped our French fries in the sauce that came with the fish tacos...which was really good! If anyone is looking for a great spot to grab food on HB right by the waters and enjoy the scenery give this place a try.

We got there at 930 AM, got parking easily, and went to sit down at Sandy's Beach Shack right away. It was only one other guest. We were done eating by 1030 and the place was crowded. All the food taste amazing above expectation. My chorizo skillet was crunchy. Also huge portion of tuna tartare with guacamole and chips. Sooo good. Very relaxing ambiance and super sweet waitress. Food came out fast.

Came here for breakfast and it was delicious!! Beach barrel burrito- so tasty. It had the right combination of chorizo and eggs Ahi tuna sandwich - the fish was fresh and delicious as well. My favorite was the habanero sauce. I ended up putting it on everything!! It had the right amount of heat and flavor - not crazy spicy like most habanero. The staff and service was wonderful!! We were greeted by someone who was in training and did a great job. Julie was our waitress and she was fabulous!! Got us refills and even asked if I wanted more habanero sauce. She probably saw me pouring it on with every bite ha! Not to mention the amazing view on a beautiful HB blue sky day! Great food, great service and a great view.

My best friend and her son were trying to kill some time before our flight back home so we decided to hang out on the beach. I'm a sucker for Oceanside views and patio seating. It was such a nice breezy day, about low 70s. Nonetheless, the weather felt amazing. We were greeted by a new server that was in training. Her name is Ashley. Super friendly and knowledgeable. Gave us some recommendations and we went for the tsunami drink. I did it with alcohol and my best friend did it without alcohol. It taste delicious and was fitting for the beautiful day. We shared the tuna poke appetizer as well as the mud pie. We were really there just for the mud pie though. I mean... how could you not? The tuna poke appetizer was very light and filling. The light wonton chips put a twist to it. I didn't expect it to be layered with more wonton chips, but it was still good. The mud pie was superb. Perfect item to share on such a pleasant day. It was the right amount of caramel and chocolate drizzle. It was not super sweet, which I enjoyed. And as a plus, we got the view of the ocean and the light breeze outside. Overall, this is a wonderful spot to just hang out, relax and chill with the ocean breeze.

Fun atmosphere and great views! We ordered a salad with quinoa and salmon on top and the poke stack. Both were fresh and flavorful and present in an aesthetic way. The service was very good as well. On the pricy side for lunch but a great vacation meal.

I read a review by someone who had the ceviche. It said something like "I want to eat this every day" as a ceviche lover I had to try it. It was just that. I want this every day. Everything was great. Food and service. Had a great time with family.

Wow best ahi tuna sandwich and pesto pasta with chicken! They even added extra peppers and hot sauce. Staff is so friendly and nice. The boss is the best and remembers us which means a lot! Gotta check it out if in HB! What's better than to enjoy a wonderful brunch beachside too!

This place id say is a 7-10 the view is amazing! The food was good i had the locals burger sorry about the 1/2 eaten pic! The service was good! Id def come back! Ordered shrimp cocktail yuk dont get that you will prob get so thats why i give it 7-10.

Popped in here with our doggie on a Thursday afternoon around 5:30pm. Sat us immediately outside and brought Maverick a bowl of water. Friendly staff and efficient. The wife had fish and chips and I had the Beach Bum Burger which had bacon and an egg on it. Delicious!! Cooked just how I ordered it. I had a few bites of the fish and chips. Breading was crispy and had a nice seasoned flavor to it. Good size pieces of fish and the fries were crispy and hot. Maverick had the little lawd bowl of grilled chicken on a bed of kibble, obviously he devoured it and loved every bite. Definitely will be back while we are here. Very casual and beach feeling and made us want to kick back and have a beer while we enjoyed the gorgeous beach view.

Sandy's Beach Shack has such a fun beach vibe -- the perfect spot to relax with ocean views and good food. The seafood platter was amazing , super fresh, perfectly cooked, and a great variety. Definitely one of my favorite beachside spots!

Great day to experience Sandy's for my first visit. Rainy day, no crowds and great ambiance. Friendly staff and easy menu. Full bar ready to serve the morning football crowd that were missing today with the weather. Below the Huntington Beach pier & within a view of the tops of the waves plus TVs tuned to sports how can it be any more perfect. The carnivore omelet with avocado was perfect and not so huge that you need a nap. My son had the chicken tacos that were yummy as well. Definitely on my rotation from now on.

Great time, great food, great service! Right on the beach, very tasty well prepared food, fast and friendly service and fair prices! This is a must if you want a chill beach vibe! Such a good time and was really affordable. You do have to pay for parking but it's not too bad!

We only stopped here for drinks but had a great experience! It was a holiday, so we weren't expecting to get seated so quickly, and on top of that, we got an amazing table outside with fantastic ocean views. The people watching was top notch. The host stand was kind enough to let me leave my outside coffee at the front and our waitress was super friendly and efficient! The drinks came out swiftly - we were in and out!

Sandy's Beach Shack is an absolute HB gem! We came here with the family (kids + dog in tow) and couldn't have felt more welcome. Super pet-friendly with water bowls out front and plenty of staff giving our pup some love. The vibe is exactly what you want after a day at the beach: laid-back, colorful, fun music, and that perfect pier breeze rolling through. Food was fantastic and the portions are generous! I demolished the Beach Bum Burger with sweet potato fries -- juicy, perfectly cooked, and those fries are addictive. My wife went with the beef taco + ceviche with chips and was raving about how fresh everything tasted. We also split the pesto pasta (huge portion, easily could've been a meal on its own) and a bowl of the clam chowder that was thick, creamy, and legitimately filling. Location can't be beat -- literally steps from the Huntington Beach Pier and the sand. Parking is actually decent for the area (we found a spot in the lot right across the street), which is a miracle in HB on a weekend. Word of warning: this place gets PACKED, especially around lunch and sunset. Totally worth it, but get there early or be ready to wait a bit. We'll be back every single beach day. Highly, highly recommend Sandy's Beach Shack!

Relaxed vibe on a weekday lunch time. Big dog friendly and my pup loves it here! He gets lots of attention - LOL. He also gives his full four paw approval for their large chicken/kibble bowl. Service is always awesome, you can't beat the view (today there were fighter jets showing off/buzzing the beach,) and the food is awesome. They should bottle that habanero salsa! Street, small lot or $9 Valet parking. After lunch, walk the pier and soak up that sun. #surfcity

Oh man this place hits the spot! Right on the strand, they have an outdoor patio and indoor seating. Breakfast and lunch menus are delicious and a bit on the pricier end - but this place is right on the water with the best views. It's located right below Dukes at beach level. Service was awesome, patio is dog friendly, and great for families, big groups, or a date. Cocktails are delish!

While enjoying the VW Bus Show on HB Plaza & Pier, we took a break to grab a bite to eat. The French toast was beautiful! Topped with fresh bananas, kiwi & strawberries, the thick & fluffy French toast was delicious. We also had the Veggie Omelette with Sweet potatoes fries, the Local burger with sweet potato fries!!! Service was great!!!! Fast and friendly!

Memorial Day, we wanted to hit the beach. So, off to Sandy's we go! We had another fun outgoing server Madi, she is great with a smile and fun banter, she kept checking on us regularly and made great drink selections for my wife to try. The food is always fresh hot and fast, we usually stick to the burgers , chicken salad sandwich, omelets, swordfish. Fries are some of the best in town. Must try the Mud pie!!! Dog friendly and on the beach vibe is so fun, ask for a seat on the glass, regardless where you are sitting you will enjoy this restaurant. Thank you Madi! keep up the stellar hospitality. It takes a minute to find this place if you've never been here. It is on the bottom floor beneath Duke's on the ocean side - enter by going down the stairs next to the pier. Beach parking is $12 or you can get a nearby meter ($6 for 2 hours). The ambiance of this place is great. It is exactly what you would hope for a beachside taco spot and their patio is right on the sand. The taste of the food is great and is 5-star worthy on its own, but the miserly amount of food you get for the large price is just shameful. I know they are on the beach and have high rent, but come on guys! I had the fish and chips ($22.95) which is ale & malt vinegar battered Alaskan Cod served with great French fries and kale slaw. (The kale salad was good but needed more dressing which I had to ask for) Again the quality & taste of everything was great but the reason for the 3 stars is the portion size for the price. It only came with 2 pieces of fish and about a quarter of the fries you would expect. I would have expected at least 3 pieces of fish but really would have liked 4 pieces at this price and twice as many fries for that hefty $22.95 price tag...and I left still hungry. Not the way you want to feel after a pricy meal like this. My girlfriend got the blackened swordfish tacos ($20.45) in flour tortillas topped with cabbage, Acapulco crema & quest Fresca and habanero salsa served with kale salad. The tacos were really good, but again for this price I would have expected another taco or 2 and she also left feeling hungry. There are so many other great restaurants close by that I don't think we'll be back. When I'm paying these prices for food, I want to leave satisfied and I did not get my fill here. Very disappointed!

We came here for Sunday funday last weekend and had a great time! The three of us only waited for 10 mins during sunset hours and it wasn't too busy. The views are awesome, right on the beach with the pier view. I ordered the calamari strips and it was soooo good! I ordered it twice. I've actually never had calamari strips before, most places serve just calamari rings. It hit different! The sauce was a good addition to the dish. I also had the locals burger, delicious and juicy... I know we should have seafood by the beach.. You could say I'm basic for ordering a burger but it hittttt! To my surprise I decided to try the blood orange IPA from 4 son's. It was a local brewery down the street. Very nice of the waitress to provide me with their business card after sharing with her that I enjoyed the drink. Good times and definitely good vibes.

This place had such a great vibe on a football Sunday. Our server Alexa was so sweet and on it! We hade the Luau Burger... YUM! We highly recommend this place right on the beach with great views and all the games we're playing! You can't go wrong ! Loved it!

A perfect spot to spend your weekend dinner with friends. This place deserves more than 5 stars. I love the ambient and the view of the beach. The services poeple are very friendly, fast and professional. Their food and drink are the best, perfect taste and freshness. Oh, the price are very reasonable too.

Beautiful Saturday on the beach to celebrate my SIL's birthday! I had the beach body cobb with blue cheese dressing. I requested for the half portion and it was the perfect size for me. Grilled chicken had a good char and was tender, greens and avo were fresh 10/10. I shared the clam chowder on sourdough bread with my husband. Bread was toasted nicely on the outside and soft on the inside. Clam chowder was ok 7/10. My husband had the calamari tacos and he enjoyed it. 10/10 It wasn't on the menu but our server asked the chef and was kind enough to make it.

First time at Sandi's HB and scored Maizy day 3 on the job and already running the place like a pro. She's funny, confident, and nailed the recs (shrimp skewers = must-order). Ashley was great too, but Maizy made the day. Food was excellent, vibe was perfect, and service was 10/10. HB locals ask for Maizy. Trust me.

I never even knew this place was here but saw someone post about it. I love me a "dining with a view" experience so I added it to my list. My friend and I ate there yesterday. This place is big! We got a nice outside table with a view of the beach and pier. We each got a cocktail. I got the Mai Tai and she got the Tsunami. Apparently they are known for their "world famous Mai Tai's" but I must say, it didn't blow me away at all. It wasn't bad by any means but it wasn't amazing either. I wouldn't order it again. I would like to try the Pelican Punch though. My friend said the Tsunami was good. We both got the Surfer Sandwich which was really good! I got mine with sweet potato fries (which were great) and she got regular fries (which were also very good). I will definitely go back again.

ordered the clam chowder as an appetizer and it came out SO fast - like within 30 seconds. it comes out super hot and tastes delicious. i really enjoyed the big pieces of clams in comes with. i also got the fish and chips which i thought were a bit meh. they give you two huge pieces of fish, but the flavor is lacking. the fish also seemed a bit dry. the french fries it comes with are good but i didn't like the kale salad much. this dish also came out super fast, but when i came on a weekday afternoon there were very few other customers there.

A classic restaurant on the beach with a great view! We came on a Tuesday night around 7pm and were seated immediately for a table for two. However, it took over 15 minutes for our waitress to come by even after letting another worker know that we were ready to order. Once we ordered though, our food came out within 5 minutes. The food was relatively expensive for the quality in my opinion, but the portions are decent. We ordered: Ceviche 7/10: solid ceviche with avocado. The wonton chips were super super crunchy and good with the ceviche. Mahi tacos 8/10: the tacos were exactly what I wanted and expected! The fish was grilled and seasoned really well and I also liked the spicy habanero salsa. I wish there were options for the side besides the kale slaw, like they have for the burgers and sandwiches.

Nice service and friendly atmosphere, went there on weekday during the lunch time. It was super busy but we got our food fast. Menu is solid and a lot of choices. Prices are fair since it is on ocean side and there is also ocean view. We order burger which comes with side of fries, also mahi-mahi tacos whic comes with kale salad with beans and chickpeaschickpeas And guacamole on the side. There is also kids menu with choices of cheese pizza, chicken fingers, grilled cheese sandwich. Pizza was decent size for kids, my kids couldn't finish one. I wish we were alone to have some drinks they have huge selection of beers

Came in when they opened at 10am. Regardless, had to order the Mai Tai since it's their popular drink here, and it was made perfectly! The Ahi Tuna Sandwich was cooked great and went well with the chipotle mayo. My wife had hers with sweet potato fries. The Swordfish Tacos were delicious, and the French Toast off the $9 kids meal meal was good too. (See photo for Kids Meal Menu) Our server Ashlie was friendly and courteous. The interior is spacious with outdoor dining, and has a great view of Huntington Beach. Rock music played in the background. This place definitely has a bar vibe to it. Friendly staff and good food and drinks. TIP: parking was around $6 for an hour and a half. Right on Huntington Beach and next to the pier. Would definitely come back.

Delicious Seafood by the Beach I was craving seafood since, being from Texas, we don't get good seafood there. I grabbed a quick bite to eat and opted for the salmon tacos. They were so good and generously sized, perfect for sharing! The service was incredibly fast, and everyone was friendly, which was a pleasant surprise as I often find people in California to be less so. The food came out quickly but was cooked to perfection. I would definitely eat here again. Plus, it's right on the beach with plenty of space for both indoor and outdoor dining. Highly recommended!

The food was pretty standard for a beach front restaurant. You're there for the scenery and the food is secondary. They offer a little bit of a mix here from clam chowder, fish and chips and fish tacos And burgers. Into the big deal here is you can bring your doggies here and they get served as well. There is a small section on the menu for you dog to choose from.

What else can you ask for with drinks/food on the beach on a nice California Sunny day with a cool breeze? We came here on Sunday April 7 around noon with my man and sister. We were seated right away at the bar but within a good 30 minutes the bar area got pretty crowded. Drinks: 5/5 We decided on just drinks since we had been to brunch earlier. The beers were refreshing and super cold. The drinks were just right delicious and strong. Ambiance: 5/5 pretty chill ambiance with people enjoying a nice sunny Sunday with their friends, doggies partners. Very chill and relaxing ambiance all around. Super pup friendly! Parking: ? Not sure about the parking situation as we had parked in a lot and walked over maybe two to three blocks. Service: 5/5 Our bartender was attentive and we struck up a little conversation with him. I recommend this spot if you are in the area and want a quick drink or even a sit down meal.

Clam chowder! Yes please! On the beach brunch is the best time to sit outside. Perfect view of the beach. Everything was quick and well made. Our waitress was nice and helpful picking out items. The kids plates are also frisbees that we were able to take to go , how cool!

We came in on a Friday afternoon got seated right away outside.Waitress was quick with our drinks.Dishes ordered grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries,fish and chicken tacos added avocado. Food was delicious and loved the spicy habanero sauce! The sweet potato fries will be the BEST you ever had!

This is a fantastic spot located beneath Duke's, offering beautiful views and cool live performances. The food is high quality, and the customer service is excellent. Everyone is incredibly friendly, and you can enjoy a refreshing ocean breeze alongside delicious dishes. They have a great variety of drinks and a nice selection of appetizers, so whether you're stopping by for a full meal or just an appetizer and drink, you won't be disappointed. We parked in Lot 17 for $15 on a Sunday--it was a fun day with a nice long walk! Parking farther gives you more scenic views and a little exercise before indulging in the vibrant, flavorful dishes.

Amazing customer service seats guest very fastly management is over the top specially, the tall Spanish looking manager great skills he has with customers and greeting them. See them checking on them. Bathrooms are very clean. I used to work at Fletcher Jones Mercedes and it reminds me a lot of the customer service they have there I take guest their weekly never had one bad incident bartenders are over the top and greet you with a smile, cold waters with lemon and great selection in beer and steak tacos 5 Stars Way to go.

We wanted a casual early dinner on the beach. the view is of the sand volleyball courts but still on the water. i had mahi mahi tacos with a side of fries. they are pretty tasty and very generous portion of fish. my husband had clam chowder he enjoyed it. the best thing was the fries dipped in ranch dressing absolutely delicious! the service was great and the food came out really really quick! the spicy margarita was not good but my husband enjoyed his 22oz IPA.
