"Rockier than other local beaches and fortified by picturesque cliffs, Point Dume is ideal for exploring, not just laying out. There’s a hiking trail for taking in the scenery, plus it goes up the bluffs to an overlook spot at the very top of Point Dume for panoramic views of the Santa Monica Bay and a good chunk of the Malibu coast. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a glimpse of the migrating grey whales in winter. There's also plenty of swimming, scuba diving, and surfing here if watersports are your thing. "

Parking can be challenging right by the trailhead, however, parking is available on the side streets but just be careful to park fully off the street and not in a NO PARKING zone (you will get a ticket!). Trails are easy and marked around the bluff, however, watch your step by the edge. Great place to take in the views and catch the sunset!

As a professional photographer, I often recommend this location for proposals. The setting is stunning, and it’s perfect for a meaningful “yes” moment. I’ve helped couples plan and photograph their proposals here, and the results are always unforgettable.

Very cool and historic location. We ended up spending hours here exploring all of the trails, coast and watching the rock climbers. We didn't realize there were other parking options and waited 15 minutes for a vehicle to leave. While waiting, we watch 4 vehicles get tickets for sharing spaces outside the white boxes and or parking in the red zones. Also, these parallel spaces are tight and bad drivers play bumper cars to squeeze in. I do not recommend waiting or using the 5 parallel parking spots unless you have a handicap pass. Instead, simply pay and park at the beach where the restrooms are also located. All trails connect from the paid parking lot.

Very beautiful location by the coast, especially on sunsets viewing directly towards the sun. Parking can especially get challenging due to the limited parking spaces (like 5 cars max). Park officers watch out the parking spots quite often

We arrived in Los Angeles for a mini trip for a few days, and Point Dume was on our must-visit list. It’s about an hour from LA. Parking here is problematic, and people often park in handicap spots, but sheriffs check frequently. I think many will get tickets for that, so be careful. I also saw a snake on the trail, so pay attention and watch where you step. The view is very beautiful, amazing stairs! Highly recommend it to anyone traveling. It’s also a great place for photographers.

We arrived at Point Dume parking lot at 7:30 pm, plenty of parking spaces available, paid $3 at the prepaid ticket paying station. There were a lot of photo shootings right at the cliffs, the sunset was beautiful and unforgettable, we even saw some whales passing by. It took us about 10 minutes easy hike to get on top of the cliff. WOW! The panorama of the pacific ocean and the sunset was the best I have ever seen, come experience it yourself!

One of the most beautiful spots near Malibu! The views of the coastline and the cliff are amazing! The parking is a pain though. There are very few spots and is usually a queue. You will have to wait in the queue to get a spot.

A go to place for a unique and pleasant walk in one of Southern California's treasures. The parking sucks, very limited, and there are time restrictions, but you can get lucky much of the time. The loop trail is very scenic but not too strenuous, and you can take in the whole sight seeing experience within the time constraints of the parking limits. I highly recommend...
