For the last 3 years my daughter participated in Kiddmunity and other activities and plays here and it was a fantastic experience for her. Sadly, her first year as a high schooler proved to be a totally different experience. After registering her we found out that the play was Firebringer. She looked it up to get ready for auditions and came to me after and told me that this may not be the best play for her. I watched it on YouTube and was appalled. The play contained a lot of foul language and sexual content. So, thinking I've registed my child for KIDdmunity, I told her to wait until day 1 and see if they had made adjustments to the play. At the parent meeting before the first day of camp I was told by John things would not necessarily be changed and it's a pg-13 rating. Interesting that you'd have to rare a play at a kids camp. I spoke to the director of the camp who understood my concerns. She said that kids would only be asked to do what they were comfortable with. I left her for the read through. When I picked her up she said she knew I wouldn't let her do this play and she didn't want to do it either. I emailed the next day and advised that she would not be participating due to the plays content and requested a refund. I was told it was too late for a refund, even though some participants had nor even paid yet. It was a truly a disappointment for my daughter and myself. I hope they change things next year even though we will nit be back.
