Oh my gosh, this place was sooo good!! This place was recommended on a Lansing Foodies Facebook group. We joined an old friend from college for drinks and dinner and I'm so glad we checked it out. It's an old building, but has plenty of character.
We had a very knowledgeable and friendly server-Allison rocked it! We asked her to pick out her favorite appetizer and she brought us this super-cheesy truffle Mac and cheese.
We had a few cocktail selections that were very elegant: The holy bliss (Tanquerary, blueberry puree, lemonade and lemon juice) and Violette Starry Night (Peacemaker gin, creme de violette, St. Germain, bubbles, lemon juice and lavender bitters) but our absolute fave was the Graydon's Lion (Buffalo Trace, allspice dram, lime juice, simple syrup, Angostura bitters served with a giant square cube). And, they brought out a complimentary beer flight from Archival Brewery, and who doesn't like free beer?!?) Great work from our bartender who served us well.
It got better and better with the food: braised short ribs (with broccolini and blue cheese roasted potatoes-yum) it was served with a knife that was never used because the beef was so tender. Two of us ordered the chicken sandwich which was served on a bagel. When I read it was served on a bagel it didn't appeal to me because I thought "chewy", but my fam let me steal a bite and the bagel was actually "pillowy", and it was perfect with the chicken. I ordered the burger (I originally thought this was a boring selection but it sounded good, and Allison said it was her fave.) Sooo good! I added the onion rings, and they had the perfect crunch. Kudos to the chef and kitchen crew. Spot on.
We hung out for a long time catching up, and Allison was attentive but we never felt pushed out the door which seems to happen more often than not now days.
They also had an outdoor patio that was secluded and looked cute. We chose inside because we spent all day in the sun and needed a break, but next time I want to check out the patio-and there will definitely be a next time!!! Thanks, Graydon's!!
