Lucky Labrador Brew Pub

We came here because it was dog friendly. They allow for dogs for outdoor seating but service dogs for inside. Apparently years ago dogs were also allowed inside but things have changed. We ordered the Dry Apple and Strawberry Watermelon cider drinks. While for food we ordered the Dog Breath and The Green as pizza. The drinks were great! I could barely taste the watermelon flavor was very mellow and easy to drink. The pizza was 16 inches so it was good to share and for a group to order. The only thing I would note is it's VERY CHEESEY. So if you don't like pizza being extra cheesey I wouldn't recommend ordering the pizza. Otherwise overall we love the vibe of this place, the atmosphere, the food and drinks were great!

Food was tasty. The two ciders I had were very good. We ordered two pizzas but ended up getting pizzas that belonged to another group. The other group ended up needing to get two new pieces because we had already touched the crust during inspection of the two foreign pizzas. Bathroom was okay. Parking was decent but didn't know about parking in the back until afterwards. Website menu is outdated.

Meeting a friend here for after work drinks seems like a given with a covered patio and seating this abundant - whether you have a pup or not, you’ll find it very pooch friendly (maybe even make a new four legged friend). For the non beer drinkers, there’s wine and let’s be honest, as far as food? The pizza is always the right choice. The staff is always friendly whether you’re with a group (this place is fantastic for large groups!) or having a chocolate cookie solo. Highly recommend the cookies…

Very spacious, great for events. However, their overpriced beer is so bad that it has become a meme across town, and they notably lack a more affordable option. On the patio the smoke from the tobacco users is infesting my conscious living meetup.

More like 3.5 stars, but rounding up since I keep unexpectedly finding myself here. The space is large, with an exposed, high ceiling and long tables in a beer hall inspired setup, while the walls border on kitschy with a mix of pictures of dogs and bulletin boards full of pictures of folks with Lucky Lab shirts all around the world. So why do I like the place? * the space - whether it's sitting out back on the large patio (surrounded by folks with their dogs), inside with a large group for a MeetUp, or just tucked away solo in the corner with my laptop, there's plenty of choices, and the large space makes it very adaptable. It's not unusual to walk in and see people running D&D campaigns, playing chess/Go/Scrabble/etc, * wide beer selection - while not my favorite Portland brews, I don't think I've had a "bad" beer here. They've always got something on the cask, as well as a nitro pressurized brew as well. No "great" beers in my opinion, but plenty of very serviceable brews. * "bento" plates - For $7, you get a big plate of white or brown rice topped with veggies and a choice of sauce (peanut, spicy peanut, or a sweet chili), and you can get chicken and tempeh versions too. Nothing fancy here, no subtleties, just a filling plate of rice and some toppings. * sandwiches - okay, I'll admit, I've never ordered a sandwich here, but I'm always tempted (though the lure of the bento plates, which are a few bucks cheaper, tend to lure me in) I find this Lucky Lab location frequently being a coffee shop alternative for me when I'm looking to get a little work done on my laptop. It's a 10 minute walk from home and while there are also a number of coffee shops in the area, it often wins since it's open late and has beer.

good prices and fine sandwiches with some vegetarian options. despite pride flags, only binary gendered bathrooms (bad), with no braille signage (bad and regulation-violating) -1⭐

Stop them from pre treating your Bento with soy sauce. The curry was good enough to sit on its own. The chickens texture was a Lil off. Guessing it is something about how they cooked it. The beers were alright. The guy that served them was both bland in his description and unique in his delivery which was probably my favorite thing about this place besides the crowd.

Amazing selection of beers. They had 3 stouts on tap. Husband loves dark beers. Love the dog friendly atmosphere. They have generous seating area with overhead heaters that keep it toasty warm and it's covered so you're protected from the elements. You can order food from the food carts and enjoy your beers at Lucky labrador. One of our favorite places now. Staff is friendly and helpful with making recommendations. I walked in around 8pm on a Sunday night. My friend and I were looking for a quick bite to eat. I didn't expect much but the Veggie pizza was surprisingly tasty. The cheese pull was top tier. I also enjoyed the artichoke and olive toppjngs. I wasn't a fan of the crust and the greasiness, but I would order again. Would I go out of my way? Probably not. But, I would like to come back on another day to get a better feel of the ambiance. Overall, a 7.7/10.

Good bar with a large selection of board games to play with friends at your table. Beers were very good here. No bar seating if you prefer to sit at the bar itself. Was pretty crowded when we went. It was a Monday, which may have been Chess night or something. I will say some of the other patrons seemed very judgmental which bothered my gf a bit but I didn't really care. I'd go back with a group of friends to play the games. The veggie pizza was good as well.

OMG. Don't question eating here ever...freakin' amazing service, food melts in your mouth, drinks are strong and its very clean with sexy vibes.

It's kind of interesting that Portland is known to be one of the most dog friendliest cities, but a lot of breweries and establishments don't allow dogs inside. In Seattle, almost all breweries allow dogs. Weird since this place is called Lucky LABRADOR and their mascot is a dog? There is a nice big patio with their own private lot, but that tables are dirty. There was a pretty thick layer of just dust and dog hair. The beer was mid. The Caesar salad's dressing was odd- it was tangy. The Reuben was good! Good flavors and held together. The salas was good too!

Stopped in for some eats on Monday afternoon. Kinda depressing because it was pretty empty, and I was told this was "normal busy" for them. It's a huge space with ample tables and seating, and I noticed a couple families with kids and dogs. Normally, I'd love a place like this, but again, it was so empty, it almost felt like the last pub of a soon-to-be abandoned town somewhere near Gerlach, Nevada (yes.... the one outside of Burning Man). That said, the staff here is SUPER friendly. There is no substitute for this in my opinion, and a solid enough reason for me to come back again and adjust my rating. We had a few slices of the meat, pepperoni, and veggie pizzas, as well as tomato soup and a couple drinks. I don't expect much from places outside of New England and Chicago for pizza, but as brew pub comfort food, it did the trick. HUGE shoutout to their self-brewed root beer. I couldn't get enough of it. I'll have to come back another time and try more of the beers. I'll be back.

Okay, I'm going to admit something silly, when I first learned about Lucky Lab, I was ready to waltz inside up to the bar with my dog in tow. However, food safety requirements are still a thing and dogs are actually not allowed INSIDE Lucky Lab. They do have a great large patio, which is actually the only area of Lucky Lab that I have seen busy. (Every time I've gone, the inside has been super empty and quiet.) The patio has doggy water bowls and lots of picnic tables. Unfortunately the bad thing about the patio is that the larger half of it is a smoking area. As a non-smoker that makes it a no-go for seating, and even the breeze carrying the smoke into the other half is a bit unfortunate while trying to enjoy one's beer. Speaking of beers, I enjoy the ones that Lucky Lab produces. I haven't had any issues with service but it is counter-service only. I like the beer hall style atmosphere. I also appreciate that they are a community gathering place, they especially seem to welcome the gaming community to hang out for long hours playing board or tabletop games, and of course they also do dog-oriented events.

Came here for a quick group drink. Beer flavors were awesome. A lot of variety and bold flavors in their light beers - hard to find. Strawberry rhubarb gose was an absolute standout. Ambiance is chill. Not trying to be some modern, post-industrial brewery. Just a simple "dive bar" vibe going on. Cannot comment on food. Would recommend and would come back.

No dogs are allowed inside. I'm thinking this is more of an OLCC/food laws thing than the preference of the owners. If dogs stay on the floor they do not pose a food safety risk. It's 98 degrees out today, give a dog a break!

This place feels like a perfectly preserved bit of history, a first-generation brewery from the eighties. The beer is fine, the classic array of ales. The barleywine and stout were decent, if not distinctive. The pizza was good American pizza. The big plus here is that it is a great place to play games with large or small groups, the lighting is bright enough to read your cards.

Great place if you need a big table but you'd be better off bringing your own food. It's a joke here

Really cute place. Perfect for groups and beer. However the pizza kind of disappointed me. I tried the veggie and the meat ones. It took an hour for the pizzas to come and the sauce was not super sweet as I like. Wouldn't come back for food though it is a fun venue

Lucky la. Has multiple locations. I've only been to this one and the one in NW. This location is nice because they have their own parking lot and street parking. All the locations are what you expect.... Brewery like. Decent beer selection with one cider. The highlight is that they welcome dogs which is always a plus for me. The staff has always been friendly. You will order at the bar.

Being the parents of a lab mix, we had to check this brewery out. I had a flight and my husband had a pint. There is a good amount of seating available both inside and out but we sat inside since it wasn't busy yet. You get to select 6 pours in a flight, I tried the PDX Punch, Pomegranate Black Currant Gose, Wag Hazy IPA, Wonky Wombat IPA and 2 Super Dog IPA's. If I had to choose a favorite it was probably the Wonky Wombat. I obviously really like the brewery name and logo but thought that the beer and merchandise were just okay.

My 1st time there last Friday. Really enjoyed the place. Very spacious inside and out. Also a very nice beer selection, especially since I'm not an IPA fan. My only regret is that I ordered two slices of pizza, when one would have filled me up. They are thick with toppings. Outside is split for smokers and non smokers.

Cool concept with average food--you'll wanna come here just for the beer and cool ambiance with the dogs. Their beer is average at best but the price is right! Friendly service but hard to find parking!

Terrible service and not dog friendly. Myself and another dog owner were in line and our dogs barked. The bartender got very upset and kicked me out for having my dog inside. It was an honest mistake but how she handled it was truly embarrassing for me. Refused to serve me and told me to leave. If I had known it wasn't dog friendly inside I wouldn't have brought her in and same goes for the other guy.

dear lord... this had the worst cider and beer and the food was quite aweful. for 2 beers and 4 slices of walmart warmed pizza for 30 dollars it was not worth it. the place has so much great potential for cute lights, less tables, maybe some games and a new paint job and it could be poppin. AVOID UNTILL THEN

No longer doing sandiwiches late at night? Your best-in-town sandwiches are the only reason I would go there... the last 10 times, getting a sandwich and a cider? I dunno if you are under new management or something but someone is trying to put you out of business. Too bad.

People love their dogs, but in Portland, people really, really, love their dogs! They take them everywhere making the Lucky Lab a popular place. Dogs on leashes are welcome in the outdoor area, which is spacious, covered, and has lots of huge picnic tables. It's also heated making it usable year round. There are also plenty of tables inside and people often bring games to play. The bar is inside and this is where you order your beer and food; they give you a number and bring the food to your table. There is plenty of beer on tap and 2 hard ciders, which imo were more ale-like than a cider. Food is really basic - soups, sandwiches, salads - nothing that called my attention. The vibe is super casual. I was there recently with a meetup group and we brought coloring books and pencils and got creative while we had a few pints on a warm, early September night. Nice way to spend an evening.

Try the Milk Stout and Grilled Cheese, and make sure to bring your pup to join in on the dog-friendly fun!

I wanted to like this place from the name and being a dog owner but it was horrible. I never leave negative reviews but there was a young female server who was completely rude and appears to not like dogs. We accidentally walked in not seeing a sign for no dogs inside which was confusing seeing that it's called lucky Labrador in a very dog friendly city and were told we can't be in there with them while we already ordered and were just waiting for the drinks to go to the patio. The Mexican Lager I got was good and the guy working the register seemed nice. I can see why it's so dead here.

If you love a thin crust pizza, then Lucky Labrador Brewing would be a good spot to try. I had the Greek Pizza and the Carnivore Pizza. You can order by the slice or a whole pizza (18"). The prices are pretty steep for pizza, but with rising costs everywhere everything is high. Wait staff is friendly. The waiting time for pizza did take awhile so don't be in a rush. This didn't quite make sense because there was not a wealth of people in the restaurant.

Since the addition of Cako, most of my dining places must be dog friendly. She goes pretty much everywhere. We were meeting up with some friends and they suggest Lucky Labradors. Great back patio area separated by smoking and non. You order inside, and they bring it out. Got a really good Hef and the ginormous club sandwich. I thought they could've been a little more creative with the chips. One of my friends got the bento, which I thought was unique considering this is far from a Japanes restaurant. Tonight's had chicken curry which I was told had just the right flavors. Staff is friendly! More dogs showed up as the evening went on. This is a really good place to come with your four legged family. And Cako Approves!

I hadn't been to the Lucky Lab on Hawthorne in years! We had The Greek pizza. The best pizza I've tasted in years. Roasted cloves of garlic generously sprinkled all over the pizza. Great combination of flavors.

Tremendously disappointing experience. I had been looking forward to trying the Lucky Lab for a while and decided to swing in and give it a shot. First thing to know, they close their kitchen ridiculously early. I wanted to try one of their sandwiches, but even though I got here an hour and half before they close, they told me the kitchen was closed and all they had were individual slices of pizza. Ok, it's not what I wanted, but I decided to try it anyway. Expecting a slice of pizza with just sausage, I was surprised to get a slice with pepperoni, onion, sausage and olives. Wouldn't have minded the extras, but I really don't like olives, and if they had told me the pizza had olives, I wouldn't have ordered it. The beer is fine, although be aware that they only have a few of the beers that they listed on their website available at the restaurant. To add to my frustration with this place, the staff was rude and clearly didn't give a damn if I was here or not. They weren't pleasant or welcoming, treated me like I was wasting their time and just generally acted like they didn't want me there. Fine, I didn't eat the pizza, I had about half the beer, and I left. I will not be back. In a town like Portland, there are lots of other options, I would go for those and skip this place.

This is one of our favorite all time spots and the service is amazing. The staff always makes you feel like you are part of the neighborhood. Just today (4/24) the waitress was grace under pressure as she managed a massive party (50-100?) who I can only assume showed up with no notice/reservations-they came with their collector sports cars and filled the entire patio, pushing food times to 45 minutes! There were only two staff members and we were amazed at how calmly and efficiently they handled everything.

This is a staple of the Portland brewing scene. I first started coming here in 2012, and it still has the relaxed vibes that made it a go-to back then! The outdoor patio is dog friendly and they have heaters outside. I also appreciate the hooks on the picnic tables out back where you can attach your dogs for a hands free time. Our dogs usually chill under the table, but it's nice to not have to hold a leash while eating! They usually have a cider on tap, wine, and a few gluten free items on their menu. There's also root beer for our non-alcoholic friends!

Love a dog friendly brewery. But a kid friendly one? Really? WHY? There were so many kids running amok. SO MANY. The BLT here was the worst ever. The tomatoes were green (unripe) and the bacon slices were sad. Small and no flavor. In a foodie town, I have no idea how a sandwich so blah could still exist. However, the beer was good. But you can walk a couple of blocks in any direction for a better atmosphere and much better food. Some even with patios that allow dogs. I don't think we will ever return to Lucky Lab unless we find ourselves with a child that needs to let off steam and we need a beer.

The food and price was a amazing .. this was my first time and was really let down with the customer service ... i wish I remembered his name .. cause he super sucked ... other then that .. I'll go back with my parents for the food.. only

hey you absolutely dense mouth breathers. your dog is an animal. it shouldn't be welcome around food. there are people with allergies and the workers aren't paid enough to de-escalate dog fights. get real. y'all are delusional. your dog sucks and so do you. maybe leash train your dog, learn to respect public spaces and stop making your pet your entire personality. you are a living embarrassment.

Omg the best damn Italian grinder!!!! I would go back just for this sandwich!!!!! It's a good size sandwich comes with a good size of chips. Def a good amount of food. You won't be disappointed by any means. I gave my other half of my sandwich to my bf which I later regretted, learned my lesson Bhaha

Looking for someplace to hangout for a bit with my shiba during our trip, we decided to stop by. There is a large patio area in the back divided into two sections. All sections are dog friendly. I decided on the super dog ipa, while my partner had a stout and reuben sandwich. My shiba unable to have a beer, decided on water. I enjoyed the ipa's taste. It was not that hoppy imo. I found the staff the be very friendly and helpful. Gotta love a nice "dog friendly rest stop" during the afternoon during a hot afternoon. And my shiba approves too.

This place has a large back patio area if you come here with your pooch. This is a very dog friendly establishment and several patrons were out back with their canine friends, boozing it up. We selected this place as we were traveling with our dog as well. I had the stout beer, which was very chocolatey and bitter sweet. I also ordered a reuben sandwich, which was also very tasty.

Had a great time playing scrabble at this location outside during a rainy day with my dog! The patio is heated and has a separate non-smoking side. Friendly service and they even sell in house made biscuits for your furry friends!

Reading the other reviews and comparing them to my experience at a backgammon tournament held there showed them to be spot on. Yes, the root beer does taste like Pepsi...LOL! Whoever is doing the brewing should pay a visit to Steelhead Brewery in Eugene to find out what a strongly flavored root beer is like and believe me, it's great! Employees are not great nor bad, they're just there to mind the store. Lucky Lab's sandwiches were seen and did not appear to be anything special. So what is good? The clientele! There were other gamers doing their thing the same time a group of us were having our backgammon tournament. Other people were playing other games too. You come here not for the root beer or food, you come for the fun with those who are present! Additional bonus: Large outdoor patio with one side set aside for smokers which has a roof to cover those who enjoy tobacco. You will not find that feature very often! Lucky Lab might be the best gathering place for gamers in PDX. There are plenty of tables and chairs. A parking lot in the back means no need to pay the city any money to park on the street during the weekdays. All in all, a 3-star place with some positives but if the ownership sharpened up the employees, food and drink to match everything else, it has the potential to be 5-star. Then it would become the place fitting the humorous phrase of "No one goes there anymore...it's too crowded!"

This place is a staple! It doesn't look like much from the outside, or the inside really, BUT it's great. They have good food, awesome staff, and you can bring your dogs! In the back they have an outdoor patio that is covered (yay for Portland rain). Inside it's kind of like a really huge barn, when it's raining you can hear the rain, grab a beer, or a flight, and play some games that they have in the corner. They also have darts! The food is pretty dang good. They are very veggy friendly having almost the same amount of food items that have/exclude meat. Good selection of beers that rotate as well as some of their own. They also have some rotating ciders and wine. You can get a flight of either beer or cider or mix! Yum The bathrooms... are scary. Dirty, old, and out of place. Oh well. Oh and have I mentioned you can bring your dog?! They have water bowls, leash attachments on the tables, and other dogs for your pooch to play with.

For a chilled and relaxed afternoon, this is the place to be for a nice pint and some pretzels. Good menu served and the staff is totally chillaxed. We sat down in the outdoor seatings with the sunday newspaper and chilled out. Around us were people with boardgames and their newspapers. The chilledness was interspersed with moments of cuteness from the dogs roaming freely around the tables and yelps when the doggies decide to play-fight. Totally cool.

Dogs are not allowed inside, which is a bummer for when it's cold out. Beer was OK- I had the BLT and it was pretty disappointing.

Had a great sampler. Really enjoyed the sour. The mushroom melt was delicious and I like that you can get all the staple bar snacks for the table like peanuts, pretzels, chips.

I was a little let down at the Hawthrone location, TBH. I've had great experiences with the pizza and beer at the Lucky Lab in Multnomah Village location but my recent visit to the Hawthrone location was a bit lack-luster. I tried the Hellasauras Rex and it was a little disappointing and then had a really bad pinot noir. My group also tried the chips, salsa, pretzels and hummus and bread. All were pretty basic; but if you go in expecting more average pub food you might have a more pleasant experience. I also tried the Italian sub sandwich and chips; this was a heavily oiled sandwich with crazy-salty chips. Not impressive, but again, basic and unassuming bar food. In my opinion, the pizza should be offered at all locations, not just at at the Multnomah Village location. Lastly, the floor in the part of this location is effed up. The hardwood floor is uneven and has several missing chunks or dips; this seems like a potential liability waiting to happen. If you want to visit a Lucky Lab, I suggest trying out another location than the bar on Hawthorne.

Solid spot on Hawthorne with plenty of room if you've got a larger group. Decent selection of beers, and they've got some wines available too. I tried the Italian Grinder sandwich and it was pretty good, nothing to rant and rave about - but good nonetheless. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a spot to meet friends and/or have a big group.

Stopped in for their IPAs and chicken peanut curry bento bowl. Loved the curry dish and also like the beers they had on tap. My friends that live here in town frequent this place a lot. Don't think I saw one dog the whole 30 minutes I spent here I'm my brewery/pub crawl which seems strange as I thought one or two dogs would live here.

We enjoyed our visit here from out of town. The beers were delcious, the board games were fun, & the we enjoyed interacting with the customers. The bartenders were not very engaging & didn't seem to enjoy their jobs.

So, In case you haven't noticed Portland is a DOG town and I don't mean the "Fashion Donts" that are walking among us. heheh jk. NO I mean the 4 legged Dogs. Well, This place has it all and a bag a chips literally Girls with Pit Bulls dogs Dudes with Small buttercup dogs Kids petting Dogs Nice people with Rescue Dogs People struggling with untrained Dogs Furry dogs Short hair Rat Terrier Dogs (my dog) Dogs with "Thunder Shirts" on Young Dogs AKA Puppy Dogs And in the middle of all this RUFF stuff there is pretty tasty Local Beer, Sandwiches and Chicken Bento. By no means is this the best dog friendly spot in Portland, but it's one of the first places to welcome dogs in Portland. So to that I say, Thank You and I will continue to support Lucky Lab and their welcoming patio..yes with H20 for your Doggie.

Lucky Lab is an easy walk from downtown over the Hawthorne Bridge. They offer several nice salads, soups, and sandwiches. Husband likes their Stout and their Porter. Two large covered outdoor eating areas, and lots of tables inside, so there's always room. Lucky Lab is a comfortably casual eatery we keep coming back to.

1) The place is very cold in the winter with many people like me in full winter gear including head-covering 2) The noise level is extremely high since like many large places they don't have a proper ceiling. Ridiculous brewpub chic. 3) The help plays loud, angry heavy-metal music frequently which just adds to the cacophony. How anyone can listen to such garbage is beyond me. 4) The men's room reeks of the smell of pis. I mean it's bad. Never been in a men's room that smelled like that. 5) The beer is very mediocre.
