We were running late for our reservation at Lure Fish House in Scottsdale, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. There were no issues at all, which set a great tone for the evening. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and lively without being loud. It is an ideal spot for a nice night out with friends or a casual date.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive for most of the meal, although she never asked about dessert, which was a small miss after such a great experience.
The fresh sourdough bread they bring to the table is excellent, warm, crusty, and absolutely delicious. We started with a dozen oysters, including Kumamotos and Blue Points. They were some of the best we have ever had, large, ice cold, and perfectly fresh with all the right accompaniments. The crispy calamari was another standout, light, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The fried jalapeños added a fun, spicy twist, and while the chipotle aioli and roasted tomato sauce were delicious, the calamari was so good it did not need them.
The Caesar salad was fresh and classic, although it oddly came with only one crouton. The New England clam chowder was the highlight of the night and truly the best we have ever had. It was rich, full of tender clams, and packed with developed flavor.
For entrées, the sea bass was hot, flaky, and perfectly seasoned, although there was one spice I personally did not enjoy. The Lure cioppino was generous with seafood and served in a flavorful broth with toasted bread for dipping. The Parmesan potato cake was crave worthy with a crispy golden crust and the addition of red bell pepper gave it a wonderful flavor.
Overall, Lure Fish House serves exceptionally fresh seafood in a relaxed coastal setting. Even with a few small service misses, it is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a delicious meal in Scottsdale.
