"The mere mention of Switzerland might conjure images of pristine alpine lakes, soaring summits with majestic rocky peaks, and stately castles that seem plucked straight from a fairytale. And as whimsical as those images seem, they aren’t pure fantasy; in fact, you can find this picturesque postcard world at Château d’Ouchy. Nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva in Lausanne, this spectacular lakeside castle hotel can trace its roots to the year 1117 — and now, nearly a thousand years later, it’s recognized as a Swiss cultural heritage site." - Tablet Hotels

Attractive place to stay by the lake. Friendly and helpful staff, rooms are decent, food is good. Can be busy during peak holiday seasons but still everything runs smoothly. Efficiently managed and kept in good shape and nice and clean. Good choice for exploring the town from a lakeside location. Convenient for the water and for the town.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and professional, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient. The breakfast had a good variety and the overall atmosphere was relaxing. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

We had a lovely stay here at Château d'Ouchy. The location was hard to beat. The bar was wonderful and the breakfast in the morning was a lovely selection. Our room felt a little outdated and lack a little charm. But it was clean and comfortable.

We stayed at Château d’Ouchy for six nights and had a truly wonderful experience. The hotel is perfectly located just steps from Lake Geneva and the metro, making it easy to explore Lausanne. The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable, and the lake views are beautiful.||||A special thank you to Gemma at the front desk, who was incredibly personable and a joy to see each day — she went out of her way to make our stay feel special.||||We were in Lausanne for a university tour with our son, and the hotel made a perfect home base. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!

Historical hotel, nice room and great view. |On the other hand, our experience in the restaurant was very disappointing. We ordered medium-rare T-bone, which after one hour of waiting arrived v well cooked. So well cooked that it was impossible to chew! |So really not ready to go back or recommend to anybody around.

This was such an amazing hotel. It was right by the lake so the views (even while eating breakfast) were stunning. The tram is located a mere 100 ft from the hotel so arriving from travel & moving around town was a breeze. The breakfast was amazing and had a great selection. The staff was the nicest I’ve met in Europe and provided me with plenty of recommendations for what to do and see. I would absolutely recommend and wish we stayed here longer instead of going to Zurich.

After spending 16 nights in Switzerland in various places, the Chateau d'Ouchy was the last night on our trip before heading to the airport home. And it was GREAT! The hotel is awesome, the staff was top notch. Thomas who checked us in could not have made our stay any better. I would give him 6 stars for being helpful, even showing my wife a room to upgrade to if we wanted. Location to the metro (transportation to the Lausanne train station or the boat dock (next door) was incredible. Again, this hotel was the icing on the cake for our trip to Switzerland!!! Thanks again Thomas!!

The only negative review of a three week vacation.||Booked a Deluxe Lake View room 13 months ahead. Looking forward to sunrise/sunset over amazing mountains & lake for anniversary week.||Arrived at 3:00 p.m. on the day to be told they only have a first floor room for our stay - others “all taken.”|Complained.|| (See photo of trees and patio which they call Lake View.)||I returned to reception and complained again to no avail. ||It was made crystal clear “This is the only room we have for you.” |Period.||I took this complaint to the desk before departure to make them aware of our dissatisfaction with stay and the dishonesty in charging and describing this room as lake view - more expensive than standard room.||Two young receptionists:||H. handled it well - accepted this as a valid complaint to be taken to manager. ||M. totally missed the point and spun this as my fault for not complaining yet again- I should have kept coming back to the desk for another room, and that my room - 104 - ‘is’ a lake view.|(You’d have to wait until the leaves have dropped. Does one call this dishonesty or just a poor description?)|Ms M - take lessons from your colleague there and know when to accept a valid complaint and not make comments like ‘you should have’ instead of ‘it’s unfortunate that you didn’t’ or ‘it is’ when clearly ‘it isn’t.’ Better still, just accept and pass on to management.|Your style just serves to enrage. You’re there to ‘de’escalate a dissatisfied guest not imply it’s their fault and you bear no responsibility.||Apparently my fault for not complaining enough. ||**A luxury hotel would normally take a valid complaint the first time, follow through and effect change at the earliest possible time without being repeatedly reminded.||This hotel missed this point and ‘their’ responsibility based on their response.||They could also have redeemed themselves a little and deleted the extra cost of a ‘room with’out’ a view’ as I had suggested to H. A modest concession for a view of the patio for a week.||- Manager ready and waiting at checkout. ||They didn’t.||So don’t anticipate getting the room type you booked on arrival ‘even here’ and Lake View doesn’t mean an actual view of lake; just that side of the building.|And you are expected to complain until you get what you’ve booked.||Positive aspects - room spotless, breakfast excellent - both chef and wait staff a delight. Thank You. Pleasant start to the day.||FYI - our room only had Swiss Type J outlets and no charging ports for devices. Bring adapters and cords for the outlets at bathroom sink and floor level - if you do risk a booking here.|And demand to speak to a manager if they don’t have the room you booked. The front desk staff just play interference. ||I will certainly not be staying here again.|It left a very bad taste.|When I reserve a ~ U.S. $650/night room type, a year in advance, I expect to get that room at a hotel of this standing. |First night. |Without being expected to complain. |Repeatedly.|||It’s possible there will be a defensive response to this review and likely with a spin. |So be it. |Those are the facts.|Buyer beware.

Yelp
In 1991 I stayed here for 9 days and ate dinner in the Terrace restaurant at the time.I ordered Quenelle de Brochet Nantua and a glass of good Swiss white wine. Enjoyed every bite of deliciousness. So now it's 2017 and I finally managed to get back there to hopefully repeat a great culinary experience. Alas, not to be. My wife had overpriced braised beef cheeks that you could get in the states called pot roast for $5-8.00 and just as good? But the Quenelle de Brochet was awful ! First the dumplings were freezer burned and all dried out, they developed a tough skin on top and were pretty disgusting. Then the chef? For what ever reason decided to put watery lobster/ shrimp broth over them to bake and puff. Too bad because the broth in itself had excellent flavor, but you have to thicken and cream this sauce so it adheres to the mousse. This chef's version is a $38 chf Disaster.I'm very disappointed and recommend sending the Chef back to cooking school.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel over the lake in Lausanne. Large rooms with beautiful mountain and water views. Great service and delicious room service.Minus one star for the lack of on-site gym: guests have to walk a (short) walk to a nearby hotel that has a tiny, old basement gym too. Could use some upgrade on that level.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great drinks, great location. Can't go wrong here. The bartenders even speak English and don't look at you funny if you don't speak French to them. Great experience overall.

Yelp
We chose a lake view room and were not disappointed; I had a hard time peeling myself away from the window to go to sleep. Be sure to bring a white noise machine as the noise from the lakefront can be significant at times, although it did seem to die down at a reasonable hour. I absolutely love Lausanne, and this hotel made the stay even more fantastic, if that's possible. We had originally booked a two night stay at a different hotel; one that I had stayed at 10 years ago. Sadly, the other hotel was quite awful. At midnight I began searching for another hotel and decided to try the chateau d'ouchy. We arrived at the hotel quite early (11:30 am), expecting to leave our luggage and come back later to check in. But, to our surprise the room was ready and we were allowed to check in early. I can't express how wonderful that was. My husband and I barely sleepy the prior night; we were tired and didn't feel too well, so it was a huge relief to be able to settle in our room (amazing by the way) and relax for a bit. The only slightly negative thing I could say about our stay relates to the impersonal demeanor of the staff. I am not someone that expects staff to fall all over me; quite the opposite. But, I do appreciate a genuine smile and warm attitude, which is not the case with this hotel. Definitely not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of so you can temper your expectations accordingly.

Yelp
Chateau D'Ouchy is located on the waterfront in Lausanne. I have walked by this hotel many times and have always wished to stay there. It was once a castle, but has since been renovated and turned into a hotel. There is one tower that was left untouched and is now a historical landmark. I have often seen this hotel come up on Internet travel sites with last minute deal bookings for 50% off. I recently saw such a deal and booked it for a night when our friends came to visit from out of town. It ended up being a fantastic deal because for guests who stay at the hotel you receive a transport card that you can use on all modes of transport within the transport zones surrounding Lausanne, also you receive free access to the Lausanne Palace Wellness Spa (see separate review regarding the spa facilities), and free WIFI. It is great to walk within the hotel and see how they blended the old characteristics of the castle with modern touches. The rooms are beautiful, clean, spacious and open. The toiletries provided in the rooms are high quality. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has a small spa area with separate times for women and men, an outdoor pool, and a fantastic terrace to sip a coffee when it is nice out. Every night at 6pm they have live music in the lobby area with drinks. The breakfast is not included in the price of the room, but was worth the extra 30 CHF. It is a buffet style, but with high quality tasty food to select from. The dining area is in a sunny open lit area and very enjoyable. Be sure to check out the great wooden staircase.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere and location. The wine, service, and food were all delicious, but didn't wow us on every dish, thus not quite 5 stars. It was a nice splurge in lovely Lausanne on Lac Léman.

Yelp
At $550 a night in a very nice tower junior suite you expect (demand) more willing service. Turn down service, better than a bath tub shower and a table in the restaurant held for your optional use. Excellent location
