"The mere mention of Switzerland might conjure images of pristine alpine lakes, soaring summits with majestic rocky peaks, and stately castles that seem plucked straight from a fairytale. And as whimsical as those images seem, they aren’t pure fantasy; in fact, you can find this picturesque postcard world at Château d’Ouchy. Nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva in Lausanne, this spectacular lakeside castle hotel can trace its roots to the year 1117 — and now, nearly a thousand years later, it’s recognized as a Swiss cultural heritage site." - Tablet Hotels

Not representative of the reputation of the property or the Hilton brand...We have stayed in many European Hilton properties (Rome, Athens, Milan, Edinburgh, Innsbruck) and am very familiar with the "difference" between US hotels and those in other countries. That being said, this was far and above the poster child for minimalization. As a Diamond member with Hilton, my wife's status was never acknowledged and when asked about the possibilities of any up grade we were offered a look at rooms but any up grade would be at our expense. Better rooms were available the length of our stay but not for an upgrade, only at an additional cost. In turn the room we were in made the average European hotel look like a luxury condo. The pole in the middle in the room immediately adjacent to the bed was an exceptionally nice amenity. I can only surmise this room was once a janitorial closet. The room was deemed "city view" which was a gross overstatement but the roof was indeed visible and a highlight of our trip to Switzerland. The property was immaculate and the location on the Lake is stunning but the hotel was virtually empty during our stay and no effort was made to go above and beyond. If it were a full house we might be more understanding but we were being "sold" any room change as if the gentleman working the desk were on commission. On the contrary, the Hilton property in Zurich we stayed at the remainder of our trip could not do enough and consistently were appreciative of Hilton loyalty and status. All being said, we would not stay at nor recommend Chateau d'Ouchy to any traveler and regret utilizing hard-earned points and money on our stay. Easily the low point of this trip.

Google
Fantastic location next to the lake (hotel has its own pier). Very kind and professional staff at the reception, breakfast and bar. Breakfast was very tasty and selection of dishes was pretty good. Room was clean, comfortable and equipped with Nespresso coffee machine, iron, minibar... Bathroom nice and spacious.

Google
Good location but it ends there. Only one level upgrade for Diamond members even when they have rooms. The amenities in the room are very basic. I have stayed at other SLH, like Kyoto and London where they go out of their way to make your stay special. Nothing here. Breakfast was nothing special.

Attractive place to stay by the lake. Friendly and helpful staff, rooms are decent, food is good. Can be busy during peak holiday seasons but still everything runs smoothly. Efficiently managed and kept in good shape and nice and clean. Good choice for exploring the town from a lakeside location. Convenient for the water and for the town.

I have to be honest that my husband and I were very dissatisfied with our stay at Chateau d'Ouchy. We were excited to stay at your hotel since it was a 4-star hotel in Lausanne right on Lake Geneva. We were coming to visit our daughter who is working in Switzerland for Nestle for 6 months and living in Lausanne. We arrived at the hotel around 9:30 am after an overnight flight from the U.S. And the front desk staff were very nice about checking us into our room early. Around 10 am. However, we were very disappointed in the appearance of our room. It looked like the bedroom in our first apartment before we put pictures on the wall --- b/c the walls were totally blank except for a TV hanging on one wall. Although our room was considered a "city view" room -- there wasn't much of a view at all. The one window was situated in the righthand corner of the room (as you faced the bed) and only took up about a quarter of the wall. So unless you were sitting on the bed, there wasn't much of a view out the one window at all. And on top of that, there was a large, unsightly pipe that ran from the floor to the ceiling almost in the middle of our room. We had other concerns about the hotel that we won't go into here -- b/c the room was our biggest issue and disappointment We were surprised that the room looked like it did when we were staying at what is considered a 4-star hotel. We were going with our daughter to Zermatt the nights of Dec. 5th and 6th. And, originally, we had planned to stay two more nights at Chateau d'Ouchy when we returned to Lausanne. But we cancelled our reservation for those nights and moved over to Royal Savoy for the nights of Dec. 8th and 9th. And we are much happier with our experience here. We are not going to share any of this information on Trip Advisor or other travel sites -- that we are sharing with you now. But my husband and I thought it would be helpful to let you know how we felt about our experience at your hotel -- since you inquired.

We stayed at Château d’Ouchy for six nights and had a truly wonderful experience. The hotel is perfectly located just steps from Lake Geneva and the metro, making it easy to explore Lausanne. The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable, and the lake views are beautiful.||||A special thank you to Gemma at the front desk, who was incredibly personable and a joy to see each day — she went out of her way to make our stay feel special.||||We were in Lausanne for a university tour with our son, and the hotel made a perfect home base. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!

We had a lovely stay here at Château d'Ouchy. The location was hard to beat. The bar was wonderful and the breakfast in the morning was a lovely selection. Our room felt a little outdated and lack a little charm. But it was clean and comfortable.

Google
Historical hotel, nice room and great view. |On the other hand, our experience in the restaurant was very disappointing. We ordered medium-rare T-bone, which after one hour of waiting arrived v well cooked. So well cooked that it was impossible to chew! |So really not ready to go back or recommend to anybody around.

Yelp
In 1991 I stayed here for 9 days and ate dinner in the Terrace restaurant at the time.I ordered Quenelle de Brochet Nantua and a glass of good Swiss white wine. Enjoyed every bite of deliciousness. So now it's 2017 and I finally managed to get back there to hopefully repeat a great culinary experience. Alas, not to be. My wife had overpriced braised beef cheeks that you could get in the states called pot roast for $5-8.00 and just as good? But the Quenelle de Brochet was awful ! First the dumplings were freezer burned and all dried out, they developed a tough skin on top and were pretty disgusting. Then the chef? For what ever reason decided to put watery lobster/ shrimp broth over them to bake and puff. Too bad because the broth in itself had excellent flavor, but you have to thicken and cream this sauce so it adheres to the mousse. This chef's version is a $38 chf Disaster.I'm very disappointed and recommend sending the Chef back to cooking school.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel over the lake in Lausanne. Large rooms with beautiful mountain and water views. Great service and delicious room service.Minus one star for the lack of on-site gym: guests have to walk a (short) walk to a nearby hotel that has a tiny, old basement gym too. Could use some upgrade on that level.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great drinks, great location. Can't go wrong here. The bartenders even speak English and don't look at you funny if you don't speak French to them. Great experience overall.

Yelp
We chose a lake view room and were not disappointed; I had a hard time peeling myself away from the window to go to sleep. Be sure to bring a white noise machine as the noise from the lakefront can be significant at times, although it did seem to die down at a reasonable hour. I absolutely love Lausanne, and this hotel made the stay even more fantastic, if that's possible. We had originally booked a two night stay at a different hotel; one that I had stayed at 10 years ago. Sadly, the other hotel was quite awful. At midnight I began searching for another hotel and decided to try the chateau d'ouchy. We arrived at the hotel quite early (11:30 am), expecting to leave our luggage and come back later to check in. But, to our surprise the room was ready and we were allowed to check in early. I can't express how wonderful that was. My husband and I barely sleepy the prior night; we were tired and didn't feel too well, so it was a huge relief to be able to settle in our room (amazing by the way) and relax for a bit. The only slightly negative thing I could say about our stay relates to the impersonal demeanor of the staff. I am not someone that expects staff to fall all over me; quite the opposite. But, I do appreciate a genuine smile and warm attitude, which is not the case with this hotel. Definitely not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of so you can temper your expectations accordingly.

Yelp
Chateau D'Ouchy is located on the waterfront in Lausanne. I have walked by this hotel many times and have always wished to stay there. It was once a castle, but has since been renovated and turned into a hotel. There is one tower that was left untouched and is now a historical landmark. I have often seen this hotel come up on Internet travel sites with last minute deal bookings for 50% off. I recently saw such a deal and booked it for a night when our friends came to visit from out of town. It ended up being a fantastic deal because for guests who stay at the hotel you receive a transport card that you can use on all modes of transport within the transport zones surrounding Lausanne, also you receive free access to the Lausanne Palace Wellness Spa (see separate review regarding the spa facilities), and free WIFI. It is great to walk within the hotel and see how they blended the old characteristics of the castle with modern touches. The rooms are beautiful, clean, spacious and open. The toiletries provided in the rooms are high quality. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has a small spa area with separate times for women and men, an outdoor pool, and a fantastic terrace to sip a coffee when it is nice out. Every night at 6pm they have live music in the lobby area with drinks. The breakfast is not included in the price of the room, but was worth the extra 30 CHF. It is a buffet style, but with high quality tasty food to select from. The dining area is in a sunny open lit area and very enjoyable. Be sure to check out the great wooden staircase.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere and location. The wine, service, and food were all delicious, but didn't wow us on every dish, thus not quite 5 stars. It was a nice splurge in lovely Lausanne on Lac Léman.

Yelp
At $550 a night in a very nice tower junior suite you expect (demand) more willing service. Turn down service, better than a bath tub shower and a table in the restaurant held for your optional use. Excellent location
