Best Shopping in Chicago (2025)

SVRN continues to be one of the best-curated men’s boutiques in Chicago—avant-garde and designer pieces you won’t find everywhere, in a space that feels modern and genuinely welcoming. What really sets it apart, though, is the staff, especially Raul. He has a great balance of being helpful without hovering, pointing out pieces I might’ve missed, and offering honest feedback on styling. At this point, I’ll check SVRN first—just to shop with Raul.

Service towards online customers has greatly improved since my first order attempt two years ago. Recent summer order went smoothly; Black Friday order was initially misplaced but they were responsive and the investigation w/ the shipper was successful.

Julian told me I had 14 days to return a shoe that I wasn’t sure that I wanted as long as it was unworn. I tried the low top shoe on in person and told him I really wanted the mids because I didn’t think it would go well with my outfit. He ensured me if i didn’t like them I could bring them back. Fast forward. Didn’t wear or end up wanting the shoe. Tried to return them and was told they weren’t in the same condition as they were sold which is a complete lie. Julian offered a store credit . The manager said Julian’s word doesn’t matter and there would be nothing they could do to accommodate me. I’ll attach photos of the shoe UNWORN . Leads me to believe either the shoe was already in whatever condition they’re saying it’s in upon purchase or they didn’t want to allow a return to a black person

Stay FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! Customer service over the phone is complete trash. I record all my calls luckily. Ordered a sneaker they sent the wrong size than gave me the run around for nearly 2 weeks no responses over email, customer service over the phone would lie constantly.

I’d avoid visiting SVRN Chicago at all costs. My partner and I walked in casually, interested in some jackets, and respectfully asked if we could try them on. The staff gave us the go-ahead—but in the middle of trying things on, a security guard abruptly approached us and told us to leave. No explanation. No context. We were behaving like any normal customers—quietly browsing, trying on clothes, and chatting amongst ourselves. We didn’t damage anything, weren’t disruptive, and were, in fact, the only customers in the store at the time. When we asked why, the guard vaguely said he was just “following instructions.” A few moments later, he backtracked and said it was a “miscommunication” and that “everything’s good.” No sincere apologies. No one showed any concern or accountability. Just a cold, indifferent response like nothing had happened. I’ve visited designer stores all over the world, many of which I’ve purchased from. Never—not once—have I been treated with such unprovoked hostility or disrespect. Being asked to leave mid-try-on with no justification is not just bad service—it’s humiliating. This was our first visit, and it’ll absolutely be the last unless SVRN learns how to treat people with basic decency. A store that carries luxury brands should know better.

Raul was incredibly helpful and attentive during my visit. He made shopping easy and enjoyable with his great style advice and friendly attitude. I’ll definitely be back thanks to him!

I’ve been shopping here for a little while I got a few pieces from this store and it always comes as described or they fix whatever issues you may have. Raul , in particular assisted me with a web error that persisted for days. They went beyond the scope and ensure my product would arrive to me zero hassle. Once I receive my item I will be giving another review however thus far this place has been exceptional not only in acquiring pieces but BOTH locations have aided me again. Shout out to CHICAGO and Raul!!
