I don't know how to accurately explain my passion for their sausage roll pies, but I'll try.
When 6 months pregnancy cravings hit, and all I want is a Maders pie, with their perfectly seasoned meat and buttery soft flaky pastry, no other pie on earth can fill it's shoes.
I recently had exactly such a craving, and within minutes I had convinced my husband. We got in the car with all the kids and drove from Roodepoort to Maders so that we can quickly grab a box of pies before they close.
Other bonus points include the friendly staff, highest quality butchery section and lovely assortment of rusks, biscuits, and other bakery products available - that's great too. But their pies? They make you drive over an hour each way just to get in the building before they close.
I make a point of stopping at Maders every single time I'm even remotely close to Mayville. The aroma from the bakery when you enter the building is enough to drive you there.
So in a nutshell, get in your car and go. Now. Run.
