If there’s ever a reason for me to venture back to Billings, this would be it. As an avid moviegoer (cinephile), and a lover of all things cinema, this was the place for me. This was a on many lists of places to eat and things to do in the downtown Billings area, but I was honestly afraid it would be like a studio movie grill or something to that nature where it was just overpriced food during a movie, that was far from it. This is an arthouse cinema, and the food isn’t overpriced, and it’s actually way better in terms of taste, quality, and service than the other “chain” movie & dinner cinemas. I also appreciated that you don’t have to watch a movie to enjoy a meal there. There is a dining area in the lobby that is clean, sophisticated, and fun. The interior is really neat. It feels like a lobby of a movie theater with the black, gold, white classic colors with an art deco vibe. Some art houses are a little rundown, but this one is quaint and still trendy. There’s a bar area, a typical concessions window, and an order counter. There’s server will come to your table and take/bring your order if you’re dining in. The bar has wine and local beers, and the concessions has popcorn, candy, etc Some of the foods are named and loosely based of movie foods, but some are just fun and delicious. They have an ice cream bar that was incredible. Also, they have season treats like a pumpkin spice ice cream bar The staff were incredible. Everyone was so helpful, friendly, efficient, and I could actually “talk shop” about film, and that was incredibly stimulating for me There are only a couple of theaters, so, there aren’t very many daily showings, but they play less of the blockbusters and more of the films movie aficionados appreciate Some tips: Tip! The tips actually go towards the theater, maintenance, and restoration of the cinema. The back wall is painted like credits with the names being those who made major charitable contributions to the theater. Ask them how you can be immortalized in their cinema Get the ice cream sandwich! If you want to order it with the meal, you can ask to have it delayed so it doesn’t melt Cheers!!

I enjoy the caliber of films that are focused on social issues that foster critical thinking. I also like options such as renting theater space to show films to further probe a given topic. The volunteers are friendly and eager to help. It's a wonderful alternative to big theater.

I cannot believe I’m been sleeping on the Art House. I don’t think I’ll ever watch a movie anywhere else! THIS is the place for cinema in Billings. My wife and I went this weekend to watch the documentary on the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was our first time and, yeah, we were thoroughly charmed by the intimacy and comfort of this theater. We’re already planning our next couple of attendances. This place is awesome. Good popcorn too!

Wow, speechless! We’ve never done this before. It’s so modern and clean inside. Everyone was happy we were there. The Ruben and Big Kahuna burgers were so good. The screen and sound in the theater were awesome, no matter what other reviews say about the seats. I have back problems and didn’t find them to be uncomfortable. What cheap but very nice entertainment this was. We will be returning soon! I think everything was priced well!

Been coming here and the Babcock for a while now, but dined here for the first time Friday night. I get that it is going to be crazy busy before a movie, but we ordered, sat with our beers, and waited. It took 40 minutes for our food to arrive, and we got there an hour before the movie, leaving us little time to eat. That's not the worst part though: they got our order wrong. I ordered a salad, they had rung in a chicken sandwich. And I know they heard me correctly, because they asked if I wanted protein on it. Since the order took forever and we had no time, I asked for a refund and... never saw the server again. We had to go in for the movie, so I got charged for a meal I never got - and tipped on it as well since you order at the counter - and never got refunded as promised: my card still shows the charge.

Loved it!! Good salad & mozzarella sticks. Tables to sit at while you watch. Clean. Nice people.

Such a lovely place to spend time! Clean, comfy, and intimate venue. Will definitely be coming back for more shows.

Really nice indie cinema, tickets are reasonably priced as were concessions. Love when going to the movies DOESNT feel like you’re getting robbed for a change. Would happily make this our go-to cinema if we lived nearby.

The types of movies shown here are entertainment at its best! Always well done, innovative, and thought provoking. Food is great, staff are always friendly and engaging. If I have time, one of my favorite things to do hear is get to see a couple films on a weekend day. Love the theater sizes, which even in the largest, feels warm, and "family-like". Cost is extremely reasonable for everything.

After being in Billings for two years, my husband and I and our neighbors finally went to the Art House. I am not sure what took us so long. Everything was amazing. The food was on par. The small theater experience was amazing. Overall our experience was top-notch. I would even go there just to have dinner or lunch. I highly suggest this to anyone. You cannot go wrong.

I always loved this place even before the amazing renovation. It features thought provocative films and I always leave glad I came!

Caught a matinee in the new main theater space which is phenomenal. Then stayed for a bite on the pub. Cool atmosphere and food was good. Good selection of local brews and some wine. Incredibly friendly staff/volunteers. It's order at the bar and you are your own waitstaff. Very worthwhile project. Please support them.

We were in Billings for a few days and went to watch a movie while grabbing a beer, wine and some popcorn. Incredible service and crazy reasonable prices

I'll give this place its due for what they are *trying* to do: show independent movies in a setting that invites conversation and community while offering beverages as well. But there are a few places it misses the mark on delivering what is necessary. First, I'll say I was impressed to see a Christie projector. I half expected a home theater projector. But because of the set-up, the screen is a bit high for a viewing angle - not major for a 90-minute film. Where this p-lace falls short is in the audio presentation. The room is highly reflective: cement floors, drywall, and hard-backed seats. The dialogue was at times unintelligible. They need some basic dampening to take out the reverberating high end - even a homemade Safe & Sound panel on the ceiling would help. But it looks like they care more about image than about acoustics. There should be a way to serve beer during the movie. I get that you don't want people to get up and order, then sit down - blocking the screen in the process - but there are likely creative ways around this. I didn't expect to order one beer 30 minutes before showtime, only to find when the movie started they would stop serving. And please: get rid of the metal popcorn bowls. Not one, but TWO were dropped during our viewing. Chatty audience members are bad enough, but when you are trying *this hard* to concentrate on the hard-to-hear audio, the resounding CLANG of a metal bowl is jarring and darn near heart-attack inducing. I have some other quibbles, but they were likely more to do with the audience we had that evening than the venue itself. With their planned expansion, I would expect some of this to be addressed, but until the audio issues are resolved, I wouldn't be a return customer.

I'm a sucker for a cool concept with flawless execution. The seats might not be the comfiest, and the screen may not be the biggest, but I love everything they have going on here. First, they show independent/non-mainstream movies, a niche sorely needed in "small town" Billings. Second, they serve beer and wine along with popcorn and candy. Third, it's all going down in a single room. So, it's you and 50(?) other people sharing the experience together. Feels like you're in a secret together or something. Our first experience here was seeing a movie that was filmed in Montana, as recent transplants to MT we were excited to see our new state on the "big screen". The second experience was their first ever showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. I was nervous about whether the audience would be "fun", aka participate, but we were not disappointed! Truly memorable evenings. The whole experience is so comfortable and approachable, yet feels artsy and unique without unnecessary pomp. They are a non-profit currently raising funds to expand into the space behind them so they can become a 2 theater destination, and I am in full support! Check them out!

I was here for a private event but was still able to discern the level of service and general vibe of this thoughtfully created space. We are really lucky to have a local non-profit -Art House -here in Billings. They show documentaries and indie films, films that normally would not come to a town like Billings (in the bigger theaters). I'm personally excited to see RBG in June! They serve reasonably priced beer, wine, and snacks. I've been to larger theaters that serve alcohol (in other states) and they charge $8 for a beer. The art house is about $4-$5, much more reasonable. The space is small but they have authentic theatre seating and a nice screen and surround sound system. It's reminds of smaller community theaters in Chicago. Really excited to visit here more often and take advantage of their space. They are hosting an international film festival soon!

The actual structure and decor is quite comfortable and very well done. Art deco is a style I enjoy very well. What you have when you get a place like this, is a place that is a Hollywood love, a place where the audience can be indoctrinated with the kinds of shows that are near and dear to 95% of the Hollywood celebs and pretend-to-be Progressives. I've been to a number of very similar places around the country (Portland, up at Lake Tahoe, Southern Nevada, etc.), and they are all about banning movies that have Christian values, and pounding the Left's ideals into the audience. For the behind the scenes agenda, I can't give them anything very high, and almost did the two stars, but the physical structure was very well done.

Completely different movie going experience in Billings. Great beers at the bar. Flavored popcorn. Chocolate covered almonds. Amazing customer service. Great time!

Everything about this place is fantastic. It's located downtown next to a ton of great local restaurants and the interior is very modern and always clean. Concessions are super cheap as well, to the point where you actually want to buy them. It's also the only theater in Billings that encourages you to drink beer at the movies. Art House brings in independent films that are often films nominated for best picture and various other rewards. Love this theater.

This was such a great stop in Billings! The service is impeccable and the volunteers really make you feel like part of the community. I wish I had something like this in my hometown. Please go and support this awesome theater!

I'm so glad we have a place like this for movie goers. The movies they choose are usually highly reviewed indies that do not make it to the big theaters. The decor is class class class. Looks like the roaring 20's great gatsby feel (Art Deco). The projection could be a bit bigger. No fountain drinks and there are zero cupholders. So you are shit out of luck there. Drink on the ground. Can't buy a beer once the movie starts either so come a few early and enjoy the whole experience. The staff! Great group of enthusiasts and volunteers!

So glad something like this came to Billings. The atmosphere is excellent. And , as far as I know, the only place to be able to view such high quality independent films and documentaries.

YES. So glad to see this in Billings! The perfect place to take your kid, your date or your great auntie twice removed. You know those movie venues where soda from spills dating back to the original screening of Casablanca makes you think, "Oh man I'm gonna have to leave my shoes stuck here FOREVER"? Yep, glued to the floor alongside wayward gum wrappers and a single Skittle worth like $10 in movieland. Not at the Art House! Your shoes and soul will find respite here... no doubt worth checking out if you want to explore the quirky, surprising, and poignant nooks of film. ADDITIONALLY. All kinds of nifty popcorn toppings are available... you can garnish with enough garlic that vampires will be vanquished for miles around. (Fair warning that your date might not be as jazzed about that.) There are SOOO many butter/salt options, y'all! I had heart palpitations of joy just looking at that bounty. I personally have never experienced the seat discomfort mentioned previously but if you're concerned perhaps bring a cushion. No shame. IN SUM. The film selections are consistently excellent. The Art House delivers a coup de grace to the sagging plot lines of Hollywood in favor of something that will likely tickle your finer sensibilities. Or just plain crack you up. And we could all use a bit more of that in our lives, now couldn't we?

Wonderful experience! Good beer, and pop for under 21, very very cheap compared to going to the movie theater. They have different candy and popcorn that you salt and butter yourself:) very cute and very nice volunteers! Would recommend this to anyone traveling through, or who lives in billings. DEFINITELY a hidden gem of billings.

Perfect date night. Film and art nerds rejoice that Billings has a wonderful little spot to catch a film and drink a local brew. We are visiting from Denver and absolutely love Art House.

Great place when you can get a beer popcorn and a movie for less then a ticket at normal theater...

The first thing you notice walking in is the ambiance and mood of the building. My wife and I were greeted immediately upon entering with a genuine smile. We purchased two tickets, two pints of locally brewed beer and a bag of popcorn, it came in around $20. The decor is a clean art deco with whites golds and blacks. The seating was comfortable and was augmented by a bar top with very comfortable backed bar stools. The movie was bright and had great definition as well as full, vibrant sounds. The popcorn wasn't you're usual greasy fare. The gentleman up front informed us it's made with an organic coconut oil which made it very enjoyable. All togeather we had a fantastic time and will be returning soon as their movie line up is very promising. If you're looking for a night on the town I would ready recommend Art House cinema.

This is probably the coolest place in Billings. You can catch a movie, and enjoy a local beer.

Thank you for bringing this venue to Billings! So much better than attending a movie at Carmike. Intimate atmosphere, uber friendly staff, reasonable ticket prices and even more reasonable concessions! Add some great independent, classic and award winning films - and beer and wine. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!

Best theater in Billings. Only theater showing independent films, and you can enjoy a beer or craft soda (vanilla creme was amazing!), a casual atmosphere. This place is fun and easy! Go! You will be glad you did.

Despite the fact that I saw the scariest movie of my life and will never recover, this place is hot sauce! Great little venue downtown with a smooth vibe. All the fellas behind the counter were super friendly and welcoming. The prices were crazy reasonable and the picture and sound were great. Having just moved here from Phoenix, I was missing artsy independent theaters and this scratched me right where I itched. Bravo guys!

Keep it up, gang. New, locally owned nonprofit theater. Intimate. Great spot for a date or pre-bar activity with groups of friends. We'll be back.

The Art House bring such vibrancy to downtown Billings! They have an excellent selection of movies (indies and cult favorites) as well as many community events. Who doesn't like an excellent selection of brews and snacks while you watch? Your visit to the Art House will be well worth it!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE, Owners are great...it's always clean...beer is cold...snacks are the perfect touch. If you are looking to relax, this is your venue!!!!!!!!!!

This is a gem in the city, a really fun spot. Great concessions, wonderful movies, and a hip place. I will make sure to visit again whenever I'm in Billings.

Art House Cinema and Pub is my new favorite place. The movies are all excellent. The beer is all local. The employees are friendly. The popcorn is delicious and inexpensive.

This is what the movies are supposed to be like. Well done. Very well done. Great atmosphere, great snacks, great beer, clean, and friendly.
