Banff Ave Brewing Co.

This is a fun brewpub with an excellent selection of permanent and rotating beers on tap - the tasting selection of 6 beers is the way to go. It was fully packed out when we visited owing to the Melissa’s Road Race crowd but were still well served despite longer than usual waits for drinks and food. A good, convenient and causal pit stop for some drinks and grub on the main drag.

Was here in December when they had their poutine fest. Was not into that days offer but they all looked amazing and if I was there longer would have had to try some. I did however have a standard poutine and a flight of beers. Both the food and drink were awesome (as always) and the team was friendly and engaging. Will always stop here when I am in the area.

A little late to review but better late than never! On a weekend trip with my mom and sister I insisted we go to Banff ave brewing as it is a favourite of my husband and I. We previously had a lot of the fancier restaurants booked for dinners. We popped in at opening for lunch and we had such a fantastic meal. My mom ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and she said it was the best “burger” she has ever had and that the fries were absolutely perfect. I ordered a regular burger and have dietary restrictions, our server Jeremiah was so helpful and just overall a wonderful server. He was attentive, funny and knowledgeable. The nitro pina colada was killer. Thank you for a wonderful time as always.

Awesome views, Service was superb, Jeremiah took excellent care of us. The food was all delicious! I would highly recommend it.

We spent an afternoon in Banff and decided to drop in to buy a couple craft beers to take home, the guys helping us were super friendly. We left to bring our stuff to the car, and decided to go back for a drink since it seemed like a really cool place. We tried both normal and non-alcoholic beers and were given testers of a few beers! Was a great place, with awesome beer and fantastic people! Would definitely recommend!!

Fantastic place! We had Logan as our server and she is a bright and bubbly force thats super at her job. We weren't sure what beer to go with and she gave us a kick ass recommendation that was SO delicious. She's also a great conversationalist.. You dont find that often from your servers anymore so thank you for making our anniversary so memorable Logan, you are the best ❤️

We try local beer, the food was really good, and all the crew very kind, no doubt is a most during a trip to banff

I’ve eaten here many times over 14years and usually love the food. But tonight we ordered takeout through an app, and my burger came with this awful rotten piece of lettuce! I don’t mean wilted from being in the box, but yellow & brown patches from it being days or weeks old! It was disgusting to find rotten food in my freshly ordered meal!!!

Banff Ave Brewing Co is on the south side of town close to the bridge, and it's easy to miss among all the other exciting restaurants and bars on Banff Ave. But I'm so glad we found it on our wanderings on a cold Friday afternoon, as it provided a warm and welcoming environment for us to thaw and socialize indoors. Our server was very friendly albeit a bit frazzled, but the vibes were great all around. One of the best things about Banff Ave Brewing is that all appetizers are half off on Fridays (at least during happy hour)! They also have a nice selection of beers. Their flights are neat in that they offer 6 options instead of the more typical 4, so you can try everything you want to try. We had the nachos, poutine, and several beers. The poutine was a bit salty but the nachos were excellent, definitely get the beer cheese sauce as an add-on. I also got to try a special dragonfruit kolsch they had on tap, which was really mild and easy drinking as well. I'll definitely be back when I'm in Banff again!

All beers are brewed in house and they let you try samples of any of the beers before you choose which one you want which I really like. I got the chill or be chilled IPA which I really liked but if you aren't a big fan of IPA's I would recommend to get something else. They also serve food which looked delicious but we ate right before so we didn't order any! I also highly recommend you get a seat on their patio so you can take in all of the beautiful Banff views!

After our walk and picture taking along the Bow Falls Trail....we meandered over to the Banff Ave Brewing. Found the stairs to the 2nd floor and got lucky with the outdoor patio seating! The day was perfect for outdoor dining and people/traffic watching on a Sunday afternoon. The beers were cold and refreshing! The Elk Burgers were juicy, tender and delicious! Highly recommend! I enjoyed just sitting there and watching the world go by and soaking up the mountain vibes while sipping my Hazy IPA. Our server was friendly and on top of things... Making sure we had refills as we wanted and that our waters were filled too cuz the Mountains tend to dry you out. Especially when drinking alcohol. Ha!

Stopped in here specifically to sit on the chalet style balcony overlooking Banff Avenue and the mountains. Got seated outside right away with a great view. Only ordered drinks here but the service was good, beer was cold, and views were great. No complaints

Banff Ave Brewing is, in a word, AWESOME! The bartender was very friendly and helpful with the variety of beers. The food looked good but we were eating elsewhere so all we had was a pretzel. The mustard sauce served with it was delicious and the pretzel was hot and perfectly baked/seasoned. I enjoyed a flight of nicely sized 5 oz pours. Passion Pit - Peach and Passion fruit...what? This beer was crisp and nicely tart. Not all sours are sessionable, but this one definitely is. One more thing about this beer that I loved is that $1 from each 16oz pours is donated to Banff Canmore Community Foundation. After my flight, I ordered a pint to enjoy and to help out the foundation. Specifically Pacific - This is a really nice citrusy pale ale. You can really taste the citrus hops and the bitterness is so faint, non pale ale and IPA drinkers will enjoy it. Black Pil - Schwarzbiers are tasty and are becoming more popular. Black Pil had a smooth taste with a bit of smokiness. The bartender told us it is the most popular beer in the bar and I can definitely see why. Mt Rundle - A super smooth stout, it's served on nitro. Toasty notes along with the bitterness you'd expect from a straight up stout. Shadow Mtn - A nice and toasty black IPA. These are relatively rare, so I love trying them when I find one. Dark chocolate and coffee notes on the front end with a good bitterness as it finishes. The toasted malt gives just a bit of sweetness to the beer. Lodge 1383 - My one IPA of the day, this one is cold hopped and I bet they use some Citra, El Dorado, and maybe something like Sabre or HBC 472. Whatever the hop bill, it's a tasty combination.

Stopped in for a quick bite after a hike - service was quick, beer was cold, food was good! One little thing I really liked (all ladies will understand lol) is that the toilet stall doors opened OUT not in -- loved that, and that detail is worth 5 stars on its own lol.

Brewpub on the 2nd floor of a Bavarian-style building that's near the end of the busy area of Banff Ave. Decent amount of space inside with warm lighting. Went there on a Saturday night and the place was busy, but we didn't need to wait for a table for 2. They have a selection core brews and a number of seasonal brews on tap. Tried their stout, which was pleasant enough. For food, we had onion rings for starters, and they were solid. For mains, I got their deep dish Korean BBQ chicken pizza. It's a rectangular pizza with chicken, some Korean sauce and coleslaw on top. The style is similar to Little Caesar's deep dish, which means the edges are crispy which liked. Mix of flavors was pretty good. Was a tasty pizza, and I was full even after giving a slice to my friend. Overall, enjoyed the food.

I enjoyed my beers and the bartender was friendly. I didn't order food. Place is dark upstairs would recommend sitting downstairs

This place is super cool, it feels like a spot that I would hang out with friends every weekend. All the workers seemed to get along and love their job. The patio is awesome with a beautiful view. Prices were super fair, and I loved that they had been for everyone. I got a flight and loved tasting all the different options. I also got a fried chocolate bar which was amazing, highly recommend. Such a cool spot in Banff.

The view and the beer here were phenomenal, but the food left something to be desired. I was happy to see there was room to sit on the outside bar/patio so I could have a nice view. They also have heaters they can turn on overhead if you get cold. My server was pretty attentive given the amount of people outside. I ordered a flight and the beer was great and unique. One beer I tried was a mojito sour which was pretty cool. For food, I ordered the beef dip. It was edible, but pretty much flavorless which was very disappointing. Definitely would recommend coming for a beer and a nice view, but grab food elsewhere!

Had a quick lunch here. I had a really good salad and everyone else got burgers. Totally decent bar food. Fun atmosphere, good service.

My group arrived fairly late on a Saturday night for a late dinner and was told that they'll only serve the late night menu. We ordered 2 pizzas and 4 orders of chicken wings to share amount 7 people: - Lil' Kicker pizza14" - G.O.A.T pizza 14" - Sea salt & pepper wings (2 orders) - Korean barbecue wings - Frank's Hot wings The pizzas were pretty good, I didn't taste the G.O.A.T pizza since I am not a fan of goat cheese, but my friends said it's pretty good. My favorite has to be the sea salt & pepper wings because I am a big fan of dry rub wings and I love how they are crispy. We liked it so much that we ordered another one. The wings are all well seasoned and cooked to perfection. There are plenty of board games available for free to grab and play with your friends. Additionally, there are arcade games and table pool available for a small charge. This is a great place for group gathering and I would highly recommend this place to others!

This is a brewery and there's beer. It's generic beer, but beer it is. You're coming here because the vibe is great and the staff is nice. Expect to pay $20 or more per plate of food, or even over $30 for pizza. The taproom is on the first floor while food and a full bar is on the second. You're better off trying somewhere else for drinks unless you're here for the first time and just want to drink something with your fun.

I honestly love Banff Ave Brew Pub and I've gone there for almost 14 years but sadly tonight we ordered take out for delivery through an app. my chicken burger had this yellowish green slimed piece of leave on the burger, not just wilted but definitely brown and rotten.

Great relaxed atmosphere and amazing menu. Well rounded beers and a variety of styles to choose from. The buffalo chicken sandwich and smash burgers were just the thing after a long day of hikes, sites, and exploring. Staff were super friendly and courteous and were always a step ahead of what we needed.

I wanted a late night snack and Banff Avenue Brewing Company was one of the few restaurants open at about 10 at night. I walked there from my hotel on a mission to find poutine. Pre-tavel research showed that several restaurants in the area actually had it. I believe my waitress' name was Tara. She was very conversational and friendly. She provided amazing service too and knew the menu well. I ordered one of their sours on tap, as that's the only beer I really drink. Mojo Dojo Casa House Sour Ale was exactly as described. A subtle tartness with nice refreshing mint and lime tones. They do have another sour that I sampled that was cherry flavored but I liked the Mojo Dojo better. The poutine was fantastic. Chewy, melted cheese curds and freshly fried potatoes doused with some of the most savory brown gravy I've had in a while. Hands down some of the best poutine ever. Overall, I went for the poutine because I don't drink much but I did enjoy the sour too. I couldn't have asked for a better first time experience.

Great beer and affordable food! All the food and beer was delicious and worth every single bite! Very cozy atmosphere with chill vibes. Great service and great recommendations! A great local spot that's worth checking out when you are visiting!

Amazing service, lots of space inside and a bar type table on the outside. Fast service and fast food delivery. Definitely will eat here again.

The beer and brussel sprouts were great. But giving this brewery 3 stars since there were bugs just hanging out on the wall right next to our table in the bar area. Seems like they need to do a deep clean of the whole place and invest a bit of money into improvements. The bathroom was also a bit of a disaster. If you're going for a good beer and interest flavor profile for a basic item, brussel sprouts, check it out.

Good bar food. Craft beer selection is great. Staff is super nice and friendly. Service very slow. Could've have a better ambience. Enjoyed their sister restaurant in Jasper more.

Great daily specials. 50% off pizzas after 9pm. Nice view overlooking banff Avenue with huge screen for watching sports games. We came here for late night eats on a weekday. Not many places are open after 9pm and this has got to be one of my top go to places in banff after 9pm. They have amazing daily specials and we luckily had the 2 for 1 small plates special and 50% off pizzas! What a great deal. We tried the G.O.A.T pizza which was foccacia crisped up with loads of cheese and caramelized onions on top. It was very good. If the bread was that good the Chicago style pizza is probably better. The charcuterie board was fabulous. So tasty and the selection of local cheeses and meats was very good. 3 types of each with 1 sweet and 1 sour option. We devoured this. It's probably gonna be our must order evertime I'm in banff. I loved the seating which had 1 huge screen to watch the hockey games on. Vibe was neat and I liked it. The service was subpar. We were the only people there at 930pm and we always had to search for the waitress. She came out twice during our meal basically to serve our food and that's it. But she got the job done. And for these prices I can't complain. Get the daily specials...they are sooooo worth it

We didn't eat here, but we visited several times for beer during our vacation in Banff. Awesome place!

Banff Ave Brewing Co has solidly made, if not great, beers. However, with a good selection of brews, there is a choice to meet everyone's taste. The Lodge 1383 Cold IPA was clean and crisp with just enough bitterness. At only 5.6 percent ABV, it had undertones of sweet pineapple balanced by just the right amount of hops: ultimately quaffable. On the other end of the taste spectrum, the Mt. Rundle Stout is a rich meal in a glass. At 4.4 percent ABV, a few of these nitro carbonated classics could easily sneak up on you. While billed as the brewery's "flagship," the Head Smashed IPA is less than stellar: overwhelming bitterness and unbridled resinous flavors are unbalanced and staccato, leaving sourness on the palette. At 6.2 percent ABV, it's not over proof for an IPA, but its taste leaves one wanting. Downstairs decor is non-descript: tile floors, bar and back bar. Too loud country music. Not a warm and cozy venue in which you'd want to hang out for more than a couple beers. Thirsty in downtown Banff? Banff Ave Brewing Co is good for a pint or two.

Ordered The Gatherer Detroit style pizza and the Lamb Fazzoletti to share amongst 6 people for a light/small lunch. The food was delicious! The cheese on the pizza was hot. The sides and bottom of the crust were crispy. The pasta was cooked Al dente. The lamb ragu was tasty. This was my favorite meal during my visit to Banff.

Stop in for some cold beers and appetizers. Ordered the wings to share and some IPAs. Food was excellent, beer was really good and nice and cold. Service was a bit slow and had to wave over the server a couple times when our glasses were empty, however she was extremely friendly and did a great job. Will definitely return next time in Banff.

One of the many great outdoor spots to enjoy a drink in downtown Banff. Not quite a patio, as it's all bar seating outside, this balcony overlooking the streets of town and out to the mountains will have you in awe. There aren't too many seats outside, but if you get there early or are willing to wait, the view is worth it! The inside is pretty dark and has more of a dive bar feeling, there's a variety of seating options with tables and larger booths. They also have a pool table. We got there shortly after opening on a weekend day in the summer and were the first ones out on the balcony. Service was quick and friendly! As someone who likes sours, heavy beers - I'm talking hazy, double and triple IPAs, and those 8-10% porters and stouts, unfortunately the beers here weren't for me. Of the 6 I tried in my flight I actually only liked the sour enough to finish it. BUT I am extremely particular about my beer and think Canadian style beer just isn't for me. They had a good variety on their menu and I think anyone that likes lighter beers - pilsners and lagers, or traditional IPAs would really like this place!

This is a nice brewpub! We stopped here after a day of hiking at Lake Louise and we enjoyed our meal. My wife had a BLT with onion rings and she loved it. I had a chicken sandwich with fries and that was really good as well. We got a flight of their beers and they were just okay; I wouldn't have tried any of them again, but they also had a few nice guest beers, so that was a plus. My wife enjoyed her cocktail and it was nice that they had drink options. It's a good place to stop for dinner, but I wouldn't come here primarily for their beer.

Pretty iconic spot to grab a drink in Banff. We were able to get a spot out on the patio/deck to be overlooking the Main Street. They have overhead heaters which were a little too warm for me, but I did appreciate them. My boyfriend and I shared a beer flight and it was a great break from all our window shopping. We were able to try a variety of different beers and were happy with the ones we chose. Our waitress was very nice, though it did take her a while to come and greet us and get us menus but it happens! I'd definitely recommend coming here even just for a drink to experience the place.

Loved this place so much, we came here twice during our 4 day stay in Banff! I had done research prior to our trip and given that I love craft breweries, this one was at the top of my list. It's located right in the heart of downtown Banff by all of the gift shops, dining, etc. Amazing location! The staff is friendly and accommodating. Both times we came, we were able to sit out on the patio. It is not your typical patio, but a bar seating area that overlooks all of Banff Ave. AMAZING opportunity to take in the views and people watch. They have a great selection of beer and the first time we came, I ordered a flight to taste test them all. Really enjoyable flight, especially with those amazing views! Both times we came, I also got the Alberta Beef Burger. It came with fries and was the perfect amount of food. I was also blown away at how good the pickles were on the burger. Honestly some of the best pickles I've ever had on a burger! All told, we are fans of Banff Ave Brewing Co (we even bought some merch!). Will certainly be back next time we are in Banff!

The service was very good. Didn't have any food. The beer is average, but it was a great place to sit and people watch. And it's dog friendly!

Loved this place! The food and drinks were great, service was prompt, and the staff was very friendly. Especially impressed with the Bison Bolognese; it was excellent! Great vibes.

For a brewery, there weren't too many beer options. A lot of the food was pretty good (the brussels sprouts, cauliflower wings, and poutine) but everything else was just ok. The staff were nice but not super attentive and it had the vibe of any other brewery.

Great beers that donate to charity! I had the cerveza going to animal shelters and my husband had the Pom blonde benefiting the pink boots society. Delicious! Great service plenty of TVs playing sports and good vibes!

Just getting back from Europe, we were hesitated about having a Pizza in Banff Canada Summer was our waitress wow totally awesome. The deep-dish Pizza was totally incredible. We went back 3 different times, and all 3 times was incredible Chad popped by the table and were totally. Incredible Valve

An excellent brewery in this touristy town. They have a great bar area and a nice outdoor balcony area overlooking the main drag in town. I had an order of poutine (cause, Canada) and a flight of beers and enjoyed it all. Of the beers, the White Wit, and the Raspberry Rhubarb sour were my favorites.

Stopped by for a couple drinks and to catch the game. We were served pretty quickly as we hung out in the lounge area where they offered small bites and pizza. The main part of the restaurant seemed pretty busy so this side of the restaurant fit more of the chill vibe we were looking for. Our server was great! I wish i remembered her name as she was awesome . Ps. The cheesecake that is NOT yet on the menu.. fire! We ordered two lol. I'd come back here again

If you are looking for a quick beer during a gorgeous afternoon, look no further then this brewery. Located right along Main Street, this brewery shared excellent views on the balcony of the mountains with excellent service and a great beer selection. This is the perfect place to enjoy a beer with a great view.

In a beautiful Swiss looking building from the outside, we wandered in craving a craft beer to round off our night. Stuffed from our dinner, we only had one beer each. I got the nitro Smoothie Operator which was fruity, nitrogen infused and easy to drink. I could drink that alllll year round. It was refreshing but a touchy creamy. My boyfriend got the Head Smashed IPA which was juicy and balanced. The place is a bit dark inside; they have pool and lots of seating - booths, high tables or you can even sit at their windows looking out from those cute windows. We didn't eat any of their food but the pretzels looked great! We had great service, too.

Came in for a quick beer after a nice walk around town. We had two rock and ride pilsners and two hazy IPAs. The beers were great and the locale with window boxes and German fest tables reminded us of our time in Europe. Last, but not least Kevin our server patiently taught my wife how to use Apple Pay for the first time. Great fun and many thanks!

Food was good for a pub style place. The portions was decent too. I got the fish n chips, fries were just okay (but greasy) but the fish was great. Crispy and fresh. Husband got the nachos. These were flavorful and actually had a decent amount of toppings and cheese. Staff were nice and attentive.

My son and I sat on the balcony overlooking Banff Ave - a great view for people watching on a beautiful day. Our assigned server didn't show forever (no acknowledgment for 15 minutes +) so another server stepped in to greet us and take our order (she was great). My son loved the pretzels and the Caesar salad was yummy. I would avoid the appetizer of chips and dip. The dip was good but the chips were terrible-too salty. I took only one bite and decided I'd rather trash the $12 than eat any more.

The staff and the beer are great... but come on.. the Poutine was not good. And that sucks cause it's what i came here for specifically. How hard is it really to make a poutine? You Drop hot fries on a plate, cover in cheese curds, pour flaming hot gravy on top to melt the cheese. This is literally all it takes! Not this one.. This poutine had cold cheese on top of barely warm fries on top of barely warm gravy. Why it was done this way i will never be able to guess, but suffice it to say, i didn't get the fix i craved.
