Hot, sweaty and highly recommend! 🔥💪Jaybird classes are the hottest I’ve ever taken especially with the summer heat. Get ready for a tough class! Despite the heat you’ll feel encouraged and safe in the dark space with fire playlists. There’s some really special instructors at the Queen St W location, Tiana is a breath of fresh air who brings high energy on Sunday mornings. Her class will make your day as you dance it out with a community who brings positivity to a hard workout.

Go to Trove, Othership or Sweat and Tonic instead. I had a genuinely disappointing experience at this studio. I arrived right on time for my class, only to be told I couldn’t enter because the doors had just been closed. The front desk staff spent the next several minutes repeating the same policy lines with a practiced smile, rather than trying to help or problem-solve. They were also unable to locate my reservation at first — later realizing they had checked in the wrong person under my name, which only added to the confusion. What made it worse was the lack of empathy or flexibility. It was a rainy Friday evening, traffic was heavy with people heading to the Raptors or Jays game, and I had made a genuine effort to get there on time. Instead of acknowledging that, the staff seemed more focused on enforcing a rule than welcoming someone who clearly made the effort to come. For new visitors, the entrance is also difficult to find and not well-marked — it honestly looks more like a back door or storage entrance than a yoga studio, which doesn’t make a great first impression. The overall attitude felt rigid and unwelcoming, which is disappointing for a place centered around mindfulness and meditation. If you’re not “perfectly early” or familiar with the space, you might not feel appreciated here. In contrast, I’ve always had warm, accommodating experiences at places like Trove, Sweet and Tonic, or Othership (though that one isn’t yoga). They offer better facilities, easier access, and staff who genuinely make you feel welcome.

Tiana's class was challenging but paced in a way that any level could follow. It was thoughtfully curated, allowed for flow with breaks and I loved the music too. It was also great that she shared where we could position ourselves based on our heat tolerance. Not specific to Tiana, but Jaybird in general - as a thoughtful, innovative studio and space, consider acknowledging the source culture/traditions from which you are borrowing your movements. Yoga is a ancient practice and while your class takes from this practice, it is all but erased from any reference to the origin.

“The Burn” Class - What an experience!! From the darkness to the candle light, the heat to the playlist, the energy to Alyson’s soothing voice - this class was truly stellar. As someone who’s recovering from functional scoliosis, the movements helped me find balance, and the pace ensured I could set up properly, feel the right muscles activate and stay away from old patterns. There was a genuinely welcoming energy from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. None of the classic Toronto posturing or cult-like atmosphere. Nice work Jaybird team. You truly stand out among the rest.

Great place for pilates class. As soon as you enter the studio you can feel the vibe. They have dark candlelit room and infrared heat that makes the experience much more enjoyable. It really makes you disconnect. The instructor Vanessa was amazing. She guides you and really keeps the energy going during the class. Highly recommend this place for your next session.

I’ve been a member at this location for about 10 months and am so grateful for how welcoming the staff is with a particular shout out to Jo and Naomi for being extra caring recently <3 but everyone I interact with is genuinely delightful. Love notes to you all! I tried several of the boutique style and luxury gym spots after moving here and loved Jaybird right off the bat. I appreciate how consistent and high-quality the class instruction is regardless of instructor. I have pretty consistently attended the Build and the Burn but have also been to the Balance and really love them all. Personal faves: Kiera for more vinyasa flow/power yoga vibes in the Build; Chloe and Shira for challenging Pilates strength building in the Burn; Carla for major glute work in the Booty; Tiana for vinyasa flow yoga vibes in the Build. Love them all! Also, instructors are generous with their fabulous playlists - I know some folks can get a little weird about giving out their playlists and I have loved getting some new music from the crew! I can see how some folks with a long-term background in yoga and Pilates might find the non-traditional language tricky, but this style combined with practicing in a darker room has been reinvigorating for me personally in my practice. I find the instructors genuine, experienced, and not performative which I really appreciate. I also find their equipment and space cleaner than other comparable spots. I’m short so take with a grain of salt, but don’t think the mats are too close together (cozy for sure, but nothing compared to the on-top-of-your-neighbor vibes elsewhere. One thing I think is special and I appreciate is the commitment to a tech/phone free experience. The staff will gently enforce the no phones in the room rule and remind folks to put their fitness devices into theater mode. I also understand the delicate balance the studio has to strike with late arrivals and how frustrating it is to not be able to attend a class when you’re planning on it. I also appreciate the studios commitment to this bright line rule. I’ve think we’ve all been there but I’ve found this studio to be a kinder/gentler and more respectful space when enforcing its rules. All to say, I’m so grateful to have found this spot for the wonderful staff, experienced instructors, clean studio, and just solid vibes.

This place is such a vibe. 💫⚡️🌟☀️🌞🪐 The dark candlelit rooms, the infrared heat (feels amazing), the classes, signature scent, and aesthetics, a really gorgeous space. Looking forward to taking more classes.

Jaybird Yoga Studio on Queen St West is such a unique and gem of a space. From the moment you step inside, the chill and aesthetic atmosphere envelops you, making it the perfect place. The studio offers a unique blend of classes in an infrared room, catering to a variety of fitness levels and preferences all within a dark/candlelit room. What truly sets Jaybird apart is its welcoming atmosphere and inclusive community. From the friendly staff at the front desk to the top notch instructors, everyone at Jaybird makes you feel comfortable. One of the standout features of Jaybird is their attention to detail and the thoughtfulness they extend to their clients. The availability of yoga towel mat rentals to bottled water adds a level of convenience that enhances the overall experience. The instructors are knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about helping you achieve your fitness goals. I was looking for a new studio and had friends who recommended Jaybird. I’ve been taking classes for a month from The balance to the build and the booty, every class is challenging but I absolutely love it! I decided to get a monthly membership! Whether you're looking to unwind after a long day or push your physical limits, Jaybird Yoga Studio provides the perfect environment to do so. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Heard lots about Jaybird, and I tried their mat class. Sadly, it did not hit the spot. It's hot in there and you sweat but just not sure if my freeform dancing is much of a workout. The space also heavily scented. The change room is small and very limited change rooms. Maybe I just don't get it as it's not a fully traditional workout. I went back a total of 3 times (a couple of times with friends). I don't think I'd go back again though.

Yelp
Jaybird Studio, located on Queen St W. near Tecumseth, is a Pilates studio offering a variety of unique classes where the workouts are done in a candlelight heated infrared room fueled by music. There are classes that are more intense in terms of movement and less intense classes focusing on breath work and stretching/mobility. The concept is that when the workouts are done in the dark/in candlelight, the space becomes a completely judgement free zone where you can focus on being in the present moment forgetting how you look while you sweat. Phones are not allowed in the room when you are working out as the idea is for you to completely forget about your day. My friend and I were able to try Jaybird recently as we received a free class card from an event we attended. We were able to book our class online through their new booking system which was easy to use. You can book classes a week in advance. A day or two prior to our class, we received emails outlining studio policies/class etiquette as it was our first time there. Day of our class, we arrived at Jaybird about 35 min prior to class to make sure we settled into the space. Upon entering, you do have to take off your shoes. The studio is upstairs and not accessible (no elevator). Once you arrive upstairs, you get a calming feeling as the walls are painted a dark green colour. There are interesting photos of individuals with floral heads on the walls. The lighting of the studio is calm and more dim than usual. The front staff were friendly when we checked in. We got a tour of the space (which isn't huge to begin with). The washroom/locker space is gender neutral and shared by all. There is a change room, 3 shower rooms and 2-3 washrooms available for use. The shower rooms do lock where there is a small space for you to change as well. In terms of amenities, there is everything you need if you do shower there (towels, hair dryer, bags to put your dirty clothes, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, cotton swabs). Although Jaybird provides complimentary yoga mats and face towels, you do have to use a yoga mat towel to cover your yoga mat for sanitary and hygienic reasons. If it is your first class or if you have a membership, the yoga mat towels are complimentary. If you are using credits, then the fee to rent a yoga mat towel is $2.99. Upon entering the workout room, you pick a yoga mat. There are infrared heat panels above you so be mindful of where you go as those spots may be hotter. My friend and I chose mats in the middle of the room. I think we were actually close to an infrared heat panel above us without us realizing it until I sat down and looked up. I've done hot pilates/HIIT before so I figured I would be okay with the heat. The room is filled with LED candles which set a real mood for the class. We took "The Burn" class. The class is intended to build strength and mobility while using props all while you work through movements linked to your breath. There was a nice start and end to the class where we were lying in the heat filled room. Our instructor, Brittany, led us through exercises to work on different muscle groups. There was also a bit of cardio/movement near the end as well. At the end of the workout I was drenched in sweat. The instructor and her directions were easy to follow and the workout isn't particularly extremely difficult - it just felt more difficult in heat. After class, it may get busy in the change room area as there are people leaving while others come for the next class. I don't think many people showered but my friend and I did as we got quite sweaty. Overall, the concept of the classes was interesting and great. I liked that the space is very nonjudgmental where it allows you to be yourself while working out. The gender neutral change room and washroom is also very inclusive. Our instructor was great as well. The class was easy to follow and the workout was made harder as it was in a heated room. Definitely a good sweat! Would not mind coming back in the future.

Yelp
It smells. It's got weird vibes. And they've got policies that they pretend are about safety, but they're totally inconsistently applied.
