Guide to Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines

"Set right on the sand of Princess Margaret Beach, this barefoot beachfront restaurant pairs an easy, beachy vibe with elevated Caribbean cuisine and colorful cocktails; staples like jerk pork and plantains sit alongside plentiful seafood and international dishes, making it a reliably recommended spot for both casual meals and sunset cocktails." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. "Steps from the sand on Princess Margaret Beach, Jack’s Beach Bar is the perfect spot for an alfresco lunch, happy hour on the terrace, or both. It’s a good choice for dinner, too, although landside access is tricky, with lots of stairs and rough terrain that’s difficult to navigate in the dark. Whenever you come, look forward to local ingredients, prepared with an international touch. Pair the tropical quinoa salad with the catch of the day, or opt for the famous fried chicken, served with your choice of mango chutney, smoky barbecue sauce, blue cheese dip, or Mama’s Hot Sauce. If you’re having too much fun on the water, order something from the delivery menu and Jack’s will bring it directly to your boat—the restaurant delivers up to almost two miles from the beach."

WOW OH WOW OH WOW!!! This place was a great find and was the highlight of our day in Bequia. From how I understand, you can walk to this bar along the beach from the tender jetty. I took a $20 “taxi” from the jetty up to fort Hamilton then to this bar. The taxi dropped us off at the top of the restaurant and we had to walk down many stairs. I’m kind of limited with going up and down stairs but the handrails were very sturdy. GREAT FOOD and DRINKS! I was with a group of people and we all had a variety of food and drinks. Fruity drinks, island drinks, variety of beer including Hairlon the locally made beer. We had lobster pizza, nachos and the coconut shrimp. We all were on the large deck overlooking the cozy beach space in front where all the beachgoers enjoying the water and sun. All of the waitstaff were helpful and attentive. When we received the check it was in USD and XCD which was very helpful. They take credit cards, visa/mastercard and USD cash. I would highly suggest taking the time to go to Jacks Beach Bar! I had a blast!

Great beach bar. Drinks are reasonable and we had the hummus which was very good and the pizza which are good for one person. There are chairs for rent for $16USD for the day. Good stop if you are looking to hang out at the beach to the day

Nice bar Located on princess Margaret beach. I had the Fried chicken which was really nice Service was also good but be careful with the guys on the beach who work for Jack’s Bar charging $40 US Dollars For 2 sun loungers and an umbrella this is a bit steep in my opinion.

After visiting Bequia the day before, as one of the brief stops on a tour, I returned the next day. This time taking the fast ferry from Kingstown in St. Vincent and specifically to visit the iconic Jack’s Bar and Restaurant. Weeks before arriving in St. Vincent, I had communicated regularly with this location (via WhatsApp). Every time, they responded swiftly. So I knew what I was getting when I arrived here. After entering via the land (and back) entrance, descending steep stairs, I was finally here. I decided not to avail the beach chair, umbrella, towel and shower option for $22 US. Instead, take a front seat at the restaurant and allow the ambiance, scenery and stunning views of the ocean take me away. I was there a little after 9 am. The bar opens at 10 am and the restaurant at 11 am. They were kind enough to volunteer (unsolicited) to bring me a thirst quencher, their version of a Long Island Ice Tea. Even offered to open the kitchen early to serve me food. But I opted to just sip my beverage and absorb the place and the moment. It was memorable. The experience unforgettable. The all round service, from start to finish, nothing short of exceptional.

My wife and I were really looking forward to lunch at Jack’s Beach Bar on Princess Margaret Beach, Bequia, St Vincent and the Grenadines. The beach bar is ideally situated right on the beach. It is easily accessible and its light and airy atmosphere made it an experience I was looking forward to. The prices were what I would expect of a higher standard venue so no surprise there. The staff were pleasant and attentive. We ordered our food and drinks and it was not too long before our food arrived. My wife ordered “The PM Burger” and ordered the “JFC” Jack’s Fried Chicken. The chips we delicious and the chicken looked so appetising with its crispy coating (just like KFC). As I cut into the chicken leg it was obvious that it was not cooked as there was still blood in the meat nearest the bone. This was very off putting, so I called the waitress over and explained the problem to her. Without apology she asked me if I wanted it cooked more. Why was it necessary to ask me this when she could see the problem for herself? By the time my food had returned my wife had finished her lunch. The chips were still warm but had lost the delicious crunch that they had earlier. The chicken was cooked but now it was overdone, it was tough and there was no crispy coating left, which is the signature part of the dish. I complained to the waitress again and she asked me what I wanted to do. Why was the decision placed on me for such a poor experience? I said I would eat it because I was hungry and they were offering no other options. We asked for the bill and again I expressed my disappointment at the meal I had received. She said that she would remove the service charge. When I looked at their menu again it said the service charge is discretionary. I would have asked for this to be removed anyway, but the waitress was unwilling to offer anything else off the price of the meal I asked to see the manager and all the manager was prepared to do was to offer me a drink. I left Jack’s Beach Bar very disappointed and even though the venue itself is lovely, I won’t be going back there very soon.

It's a beach bar, so location location location. The cocktails were pretty good, and the food was ok, if slow to arrive, even on a quiet lunchtime. The shrimp roll (unfortunately it's not lobster season...) was pretty tasty, but my wife's fish wasn't great. The ceviche starter was pretty bland. But, cold Caribs on the beach. Yay.

A great beach bar located perfectly on Princess Margaret beach. Service on the beach was helpful and regular. And lunch was enjoyed by all. We will return.

Location location location. Fabulous beach restaurant. Burgers great. Coconut shrimp excellent. Baba Ganoush was a big disappointment- $30exd for a tablespoon of this appetizer. It was tasty but almost a joke because of the quantity (see photo barely the size of the fork tines) - or lack of. A manager came over to hear my complaint- but did nothing about it.
