"A five-star property in an old transformer station, Hotel Herman K brings industrial-chic style to the heart of Copenhagen . Much of the building’s raw, unpolished architecture has been preserved, lending the hotel an edgy vibe. A façade of dark bronze slats and large glass doors leads to the lobby, where a custom-designed artwork by Pio Diaz hangs from 40-foot ceilings. Down moody, dimly lit hallways, each of the 31 rooms and suites hides behind a black curtain, which is pulled aside for the duration of your stay. Inside, sleek furniture, soft carpets, and concrete walls contrast with white marble bathrooms, creating an altogether futuristic feeling. In fact, guests can even control the lights and sound from bed via panels in the headboard or steam their home media directly to the TV and speakers. If you need a break from all the technology, many rooms also include private balconies or terraces. Herman K comes courtesy of Brøchner Hotels (Denmark’s leading boutique hotel chain) and features many of the company’s signature amenities, including a healthy, organic breakfast and a “night cap hour” with complimentary drinks. Should guests want something more substantial, Herman K is also home to Roxie, a three-story restaurant from the team behind two-Michelin-starred Nordic restaurant Kadeau."

"Although now closed, Hôtel Herman is referenced via Marc-Alexandre Mercier's contribution to the Appetite for Books 80-recipe collection, so I can still try recipes tied to that former restaurant." - Mallory Frayn

"Housed in a repurposed 1963 transformer station near Kongens Nytorv, Hotel Herman K turns industrial minimalism into an art form. Behind its dark bronze façade, raw concrete and iron are softened by deep carpets, bespoke furnishings, and marble-clad bathrooms hidden within sculptural cubes." - Tablet Hotels

The 6 Best Hotels in Copenhagen (Updated2025)

"I enjoyed the four-star Boutique Hotel Herman K in Nyhavn, set in a historic transformer station with a striking, chic industrial style and an especially impressive two-story lobby featuring a huge 3D‑printed sculpture. The hotel has a cool cocktail bar and large rooms with minimal décor, big windows, soft beds, air conditioning, a Bose sound system, flatscreen TV, comfy armchairs, minibar, kettle, and free Wi‑Fi. Bathrooms are bright marble and roomy with eco-friendly toiletries and excellent water pressure. Breakfast offers many options (including vegetarian) served buffet, à la carte, or continental; there’s no gym or spa, but its central location makes most sights walkable — a stylish, central choice." - Matthew Kepnes

Google
Stylish boutique hotel and located near a lot of shops and spots you may visit. Staff were great and friendly especially Patricia who took the time to suggest restaurants and places that i should check out. Breakfast set was same in all the 7 days i stayed but no problem with me as it was nice which includes a selection of breads and juices. I particularly like the eggs which you can request how you want it to be done. Kinda expensive for the size of the room but it has everything you need and the bed was comfy.

Stayed for the first time at Herman K. Very nice experience! I have stayed at several hotels in Copenhagen - this is the best. Very central location, parking right opposite the hotel and in walking distance from lot's of restaurents and interesting locations. Super service, very nice and celan room - and the signature breakfast is amazing. Best recomendation from me.

Google
Herman K is a great option if you are looking for a hotel that has a unique design, amazing location and great service. The location, right next to Magasin du Nord and Kongens Nytorv, is perfect if you want to explore the city or just go shopping. The staff was helpful and friendly, both at the reception desk and breakfast. As for the rooms, they are small, but highly functional. However, as a business traveler I missed having a desk or table to be able to work. While I am not certain i would choose this hotel for a business trip again I would definitely go here if I was visiting the city with my wife.

Google
4.5 / 5 . I choose that hotel for its location and I was agreeably surprised by it. The room I was given was not the best in term of location (1st floor over the delivery area) but it was clean with a very confortable bed. For a superior room it had the standard size compared to other hotels but it had a nice balcony that could have been more enjoyable on a higher floor. It had "cool" features like the Bose system allowing to stream music, and also connected to the TV which allowed to stream videos or films from your phone. Everyday a bottle of water was delivered which is always nice. The staff was friendly and polite. I did not try the breakfast but it looked good. The last thing I really liked : I received an email for feedback after my stay, which I filled. The manager sent me an email in response. It's the best sign of professionalism when that happens; it means they care and pay attention to customer reviews. I recommend this hotel and be happy to return.

Rooms small with limited wardrobe space and carpet had certainly seen better days. Location is fantastic and staff are lovely. A 4 star hotel rather than 5 but for a city break was acceptable

Google
Boutique Hotel Herman K in Copenhagen has an excellent location—close to sights, restaurants, and public transport, perfect for exploring the city. The facilities and overall quality are high, with stylish design and comfortable rooms, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is less impressive: it’s set, not buffet, with little choice. Our room had issues with air conditioning noise.

An amazing stay for our first time in Copenhagen, the staff were very helpful and kind. Facilities were a 10/10 and location was perfect for sightseeing and shopping.

The staff at the desk, breakfast & cleaning people were all really good. The rooms were small in my opinion for the price, it it is Scandinavia. They bring you a predefined breakfast, with some variables in choice for eggs, juice and hot drink, overall is is smaller than breakfast you receive in other hotels in Europe. The bathroom was also small, but it was arranged well, just the usual European problem of water spraying out into portions of the bathroom floor. Bathroom was better than the room. I opened my suitcase and that section of the room was no longer accessible. The hotel is a in a great location. Maybe 15–20 minutes walk from Tivoli and the train station. There is a lot of things nearby within 15 minutes walk to see. Rosenborg Castle, Nyhavn, Kastellet, main train station and the little mermaid are all within a 20 minutes walk or closer.

Yelp
This Brand new Scandinavian-chic hotel is located in a former power station. We were lucky to book a room for a decent price before the hotel opened and even luckier to stay in a room that has barely been slept in before (if at all). As is pretty much par for the course in this part of the world, the room (a double standard) was small, but comfortable and almost zen in its cleanliness. We had everything we needed located near the bed, including all charge stations for phones that have USB ports and various ways to hook up ones' devices to the television. Also included in this room were Ren bath products, soft towels, a hair dryer, and a tea kettle with a small selection of teas/coffees. In the lobby (and also where you check in) is a bar lounge and an award-winning restaurant. The breakfast looked healthy and delicious, but we opted to explore places to eat nearby. Best of all, they offer a happy hour and night cap, free to guests. Plus, their staff are exceedingly courteous and helpful. The only issue I have is the lack of a "do not disturb" sign to put on the doorknob and the minimalist decor, which though pretty, is not practical when you are trying to find space to stash your stuff.

Yelp
We stayed in this recently opened small boutique hotel on 2 nights during a heat wave. We really appreciated the a.c. which is unusual in CPH. Our small room, one of the smallest, was sleek yet comfortable modern Danish design. Well-designed, great mattress, good charging features so size was not really a problem. Excellent rainhead shower. Hotel staff were engaging, helpful, friendly and professional to the max. The breakfast was the best we ever had in a hotel. Fresh organic fruits, veggies, smoothies, cooked items, etc. etc. Wide selection. The co-located restaurant Roxie offers top notch new Nordic food. We had a tasting menu with no meat. Wonderful service. Great location. Overall excellent stay!!!
