This is supposed to be one of rochester's nicest restaurants. The service and the people there are impeccably sociable and extremely attentive to your needs. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food is very good, but I wouldn't consider it outstanding for the prices they charge. This is more of a destination and atmosphere place to be seen.

We went last Friday night. We ordered an Appetizer, drinks and we both ordered a steak. The service was very slow and we felt forgotten several times. I ordered a ribeye steak medium rare and it was very tough and didn't have enough seasoning, especially salt. Overall, there are much nicer restaurants that are better priced.

We normally LOVE Pane Vino, but our most recent visit was simply not great. I ordered one of the specials, and it was not described accurately. The first error was that the server incorrectly stated the type of fish being served - which was no big deal to me, as she caught it after I ordered and came over to clarify. The more prominent issue was that it was not described as being an excessively spicy dish, as most restaurants will typically warn you of this. When my meal came, I tried to push through it - but it was inedible for me due to the extreme heat. I am usually quite tolerate of spicy, but this dish was loaded with hot peppers. Thankfully they were able to swap out that part of the meal for me - and the fish was still great. The other less than satisfactory part of our visit was that, as a party of two - amongst other much larger parties, we felt that we were not properly serviced. Other parties that came in after us received their bread, and placed their orders before us. When I initially commented on the spiciness of my meal, the server promised to keep my water full vs replace the dish. My water was NOT kept full, and we then had to ask to swap out the pasta. I'm not sure what happened but it seemed like we fell through the cracks even moreso after making the polite "complaint". Once we were finished with our meals, we waited another 30 minutes for the check - even though the server said she would be right back with it and then went by our table at least a half dozen times before arriving with the check.

Made dinner reservations for my birthday and the waiter was super nice! The calamari was amazing. And the seafood pasta was 10/10!!!

Beautiful setting on the Genesee River. Restaurant was decorated nicely for Halloween 🎃. Excellent menu tasteful presentation. Service was very good

The manager was wonderful! I called to set up a surprise anniversary dinner for my parents and she made sure everything was perfect. Everything went great and my parents had a wonderful time! They loved the food and the staff made sure their night was special.

Went here with my fiancé to celebrate that we are getting married in a few days and this was the place we went on our first date 7 years ago. Had a reservation for 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. As the hostess sat us down I noticed there were a few servers working but the section we got sat in our server was focused on a large party. We had our water poured, but we sat there for at least 15 minutes before our server greeted us. She was too focused on the big table she had, which I understood at the time. What frustrated me is that all the tables that got sat after us had their food, drinks, dessert, and checks way before us, and no one seemed to care about our table or at least acknowledge that they were busy. Unfortunately, we didn’t end up getting our appetizer until 7:30pm and then our entrees until 8:05pm. I’ve worked in several restaurants and hospitality businesses throughout my life and I understand when places get slammed because of big tables. I feel as though the hostess messed up and put us in the wrong section. The whole night we felt like a complete afterthought and our server was no where to be found. We didn’t end up leaving until 8:30pm because it took her so long to get our check and to-go boxes. Overall the food was good but was ruined by such an awful service experience that I’m not disappointed I hadn’t been here in a little over 7 years. I hate leaving reviews like this but I’m so sad that what was supposed to be a cute night was ruined by this lack of planning. Everyone around us seemed happy though and their server was attentive. We were hoping to try the desserts and get coffee but had other plans and being there for 2 hours and waiting over an hour and a half for dinner was enough for us. I hope this isn’t their normal operation, especially on a random Tuesday night.

Nice spot with a great view of the river if sitting outside. Some classic Italian staples with quality ingredients and a skilled bartender.

Yelp
It was our Saturday date night. Dinner and a show. Right from walking in the door we were greeted and was given a table for two. The atmosphere was beautiful and perfect for a romantic dinner. Our water was poured and bread with three side toppings immediately placed on the table. Our waitress was Alexis. They had a great wine menu and she had suggested a certain red blend which was delish. She was highly knowledgeable of the wines and entrees on the menu. I had the Chicken Anthony and my husband had Chicken Alloco. Both dishes were beyond amazing. The service Alexis provided was excellent. I can honestly say she was the best waitress I have had since moving to the Rochester area. I will definitely put this restaurant at the very top of my list. Can't wait to go back! Food, service and ambiance was superb. Thank you Alexis. You made our evening a memorable one.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance was amazing! It's a perfect date night restaurant or a special place to celebrate. We had the artichoke French to start, Caesar salad next, he had the chicken French and I the shrimp scampi. Dinner was finished off by the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries. Overall 10/10.

Yelp
I went with my 15 year old niece here prior to going to the RBTL for a show. I had made our reservation for 5pm (earliest reservation time) and upon arrival we were the only ones there, with the exception of one patron eating and drinking at the bar. We were greeted by the hostess, that I believe was either the owner or part manager of the restaurant. She sat us down and gave us menus (didn't mention the specials) and then proceeded to go and turn on all of the Christmas decorations in the restaurant and tell us about her deals when purchasing all of them. Finally upon her return the waitress took our drink orders and when I asked she gave us the listing of specials for the evening. My niece had a specialty mocktail that was described as having a "hint" of lavender- turns out the other items were done with a hint and all my niece (and I tasted) was the strong presence of lavender. For appetizers we ordered fried calamari that came with the typical red sauce- the fried calamari was good, but nothing special. We also ordered the lamp lollipops for an additional app and let me just say- they were the BEST part about our dinner! Perfectly cooked to medium rare and seasoned and grilled to perfection. It was my neices first time trying them and she said she couldn't wait to have them again. For our main dishes, my niece had the penne vodka- which was "okay" but really lacked on favor, nothing really special about it. I honestly think she makes it better at home. For my entree I had the Salmon- which came with a very thick strawberry sauce over the top of it. My fish was cooked perfectly and tasted great- without the thick "strawberry like" sauce over the top of it (I ended up scraping it off of the fish. I also wasn't a fan of the black rice-it had a very off putting smell and after having my first taste decided one bite was enough.

Yelp
BLUF: Very disappointing. Poor service ruined our evening Four of us went for dinner on a Thursday evening. Things started out well in that the bread for the table was delicious and crunchy. We ordered our appetizers at the same time as our entrees and told the waitress we were going to a show and wanted to eat both at once. The appetizers came out pretty quickly. Fried calamari was very tender and tasty. Caprese salad was good, but frankly that's something hard to mess up. Then our waitress disappeared for half an hour. No water refills, nothing. By the time she came back we had been finished with our appetizers for an hour. She said the food would be right out. At that point we had to leave and just had her box our food to go. This place is not cheap, and I feel we paid a lot of money for some Italian take out. I will not go back

Yelp
So Tuesday night the 11th I made reservations at Pane Vino on the River for their date night special. Which you can partake in on Monday & Tuesday nights only. It is $100.00 per couple and there is a specific menu that you can choose from. We happened to go for my birthday dinner as it was this past Thursday the 13th. So anyway we were seated at table towards the back of the restaurant. I like the decor there it's old and a bit rustic like cozy feeling. So we already knew what we were getting for our food entrees. We got a bottle of Pinot Grigio and ice water to drink and there was already the olive oil and grated cheese along with the accouterments on the table. So we ordered our appetizer which was Artichokes French and we also chose the Caesar Salad and for main entree, mine was Eggplant and spaghetti which was quite good and he got the shrimp dish. He also enjoyed his meal and then we got the chocolate covered strawberries for dessert to go. He wanted the chocolate cake & grand marnier to which he paid extra for. Our waitress was super nice and knowledgeable. Overall I like the atmosphere/ waitstaff & host/hostesses m. It is a nice place to go once in a while for something different. I highly recommend this establishment. If you're in the area or mood to try something different.

Yelp
Perfect Valentine's Date Night at Pane Vino We had an 8 PM Valentine's reservation, booked three weeks in advance--so plan ahead! Parking was tricky due to a nearby show, but they offer free valet (wish we knew sooner). We waited 30 minutes for our table but enjoyed drinks at the bar and live piano music. The ambiance was perfect--cozy lighting, candles, and real rose petals on the tables. The prix fixe menu (not advertised online) was a great surprise. I had the wedge salad (best I've had!), and my boyfriend had the lobster bisque. For mains, we had the Filet Oscar ($98) and Chicken French & Artichoke Linguine (~$50)--both were fantastic. Dessert was red velvet cheesecake, and mini cannoli, (or you could have chosen chocolate-covered strawberries). You pay by the main course so for 2 appetizers, 2 mains and 2 desserts ~$160 + drinks. Cocktails were excellent--I loved the Snowy Negroni (gin, white vermouth, lillet blanc), and my boyfriend enjoyed his Old Fashioned. Overall, amazing food, service, and ambiance--highly recommend for a special occasion!

Yelp
Service is very slow!! We waited over an hour with a reservation for our food. It was only two people.

Corey S.

Yelp
An abyssal experience at what used to be a reliable dining experience. We went in for an 8p reservation. Great service up to the point of serving the main course. My meal was room temperature and asked that it be warmed up. It came back at the same temperature or cooler. I said can take it to go but I wasn't paying for it as everyone else was finished with their meals at that point. The chef insisted on a new meal. I repeated I can take what I had to to go. The assistant then snatched the bag and ran away with it. The whole experience was petty for what probably cost $8 to make. I will never go back.

Yelp
Went there for the first time recently after seeing their new date night promotion for Mondays and Tuesdays on Facebook. I'm not usually big into fancy upscale restaurants since they can sometimes be pricy, but this was such an amazing deal! There's a special menu for $100 for two people to have a huge meal, it's a bottle of wine, bread (with great little dips), your choice of an appetizer, salad, entree, and chocolate strawberries. I don't even usually like chocolate strawberries but something about these ones had us basically licking the plate. Only problem was we were so full by the entree we had to take most of it home lol! Great service, lovely calm ambiance, and amazing food!

Yelp
Always wonderful ambiance and delicious food, no matter what is ordered. Excellent steaks and pork chop dishes too. Our go to place for special occasions.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. They took us without reservations, which was helpful. Had lobster bisque soup, very tasty. We also had gnocchi and vodka ravioli, both were filling and delicious. Suggest the rum punch, had two a felt great, lol.

Yelp
So..after our absolutely horrible experience last summer decided to give New Years a try since we had dined there on New Years Eve the past two years. Seated as per our reservation.Prix fixe menu as outlined on the menu. salads were huge and tasty. I had the chicken parm/ eggplant parm/,manicotti trio minus the eggplant ( don't care for thick cut eggplant) on a bed of penne for $70. My husband had the ribeye; requested medium rare but it was closer to medium/ medium well. All I can say is for $85 you damn well better be able to cook a steak as requested. The fries that went with the steak arrived 10 minutes after the steak. Desserts were cheesecake with some weird cherries that looked like Sauced maraschino cherries; the tiramisu was a compacted cake and had a sour taste., the other choice was a dark chocolate cake. They used to make their own desserts; clearly these were recently thawed frozen variety. Service was ok but not attentive as it should be.,Our waitress had way too many tables. Bus boy has been there a very long time and is very good! I don't know what has happened here but it's not like it used to be. If you're going to charge these prices you damn well better be on point! 2/3 of the steak was thrown out as were most of the late arriving fries. One glass of wine was comped as my husband didn't want to watch me eat while he waited for a do over.

Yelp
Work took me to Rochester, New York. Visited the Beautiful Pane Vino on the River. Pane Vino is a Italian Restaurant overlooking the Genesee River. Awesome service, awesome food. We had Beet Salad which had Goat cheese, red pepper, Macadamia nuts with lemon honey vinaigrette. We also had the Shrimp Scampi. Mouth watering Shrimp with Prosciutto, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, garlic sherry wine sauce and linguine. I'm not from around here but will definitely come back if in the area! Socal Weekend Walkarounds definitely recommends. Check them out next time you visit Rochester! Voted Best Romantic Restaurant by Choice Awards! 2018 Traveler's Choice Winner by Trip Advisor! Yelp
Don't we love restaurant surprises?! Particularly ones that are so pleasant. Such was the case with Pane Vino. Start with an open and comfortable dining room with good acoustics. Add welcoming and just the right amount of attentive staff. Top with an interesting and varied menu and it's showtime dear readers! Start with any salad ( we did the beet). Pair with dollar Monday PE oysters. Add a local brew or wine by the glass and you'll be off to a great start. Not sure of a wine or beer? Ask to taste. Need a fresh napkin? Staff is already on it. Ready to order - no rush here - so be selective. Fresh pastas, seafood, chicken or veal ... no wrong choices here friends. And the bread? No recycling here! Nice crust and soft on the inside. Trust me you'll want some to go. Desert? Never even looked. Back to the bread basket to wipe your plate clean. On your way to the restroom say hello to chef Mike. This team does a five star job all around. Can't wait to come back for the stacked eggplant and homemade pizza. Enjoy!

Yelp
A location on the river that my wife likes from past times. Good memories and tho we have not been in a while, we enjoyed the visit with our children. We ate on the terrace, waitress Brittany was great. Food was in line with expectations for a place like this. Minor issue with the medium rare being a little over fired for my son. But he ate it and had some to spare. Well worth a visit on a special occasion.

Yelp
We have enjoyed pane Vino many times. It is a short walk from our Rochester, NY apartment. We were joined in November 2025 by 2 other couples for a double birthday celebration. We had requested a certain table that is in a nook and a somewhat private and a bit quieter . In warm weather, we enjoy the lovely patio with a view of the Genesee River and skyline of the city. Grace our waitress was just that-smiling, joyful, and very eager to help us with our choices. Over drinks we made menu choices and decided to share the Greek salad offered for sharing and fresh, warm bread slices with butter and herbs. The menu is fully packed, Veggie and Gluten free are available. the orders included pastas, fish, chicken, veggie and side dishes for small appetites like mine. I enjoyed roasted asparagus and small serving of Salmon. Everyone was happy. I had arranged ahead for two servings of their deserts- a rich chocolate cake and peanut butter cake with candles. Of course the others sang happy birthday. It was a lovely 2 1/2 hour dinner. The restaurant was full of happy customers. the prices are $16.00 to 42.00 for entres. the atmosphere, pleasant with happy people. Again, I sing the praises of Grace, for answering many questions and making suggestions to help us decide. A top 10 restaurant.

Yelp
If I could give this restaurant negative stars, believe me, I would. Save yourself the headache. Just go to The Cheesecake Factory instead. At least there, the food doesn't taste like an insult you paid for. I really, genuinely wanted to love this place. I came in rooting for them -- a local, upscale spot, promising so much potential. But what I got instead was probably one of the most disappointing meals I've had in years. Honestly. Let's get one thing straight: I don't think I'm better than anybody -- not even close -- but I have definitely experienced better than... whatever this was. I've eaten at places like Blue Fin, Carmine's, the Tiffany Blue Box Café, the Chart House in Edgewater, and proper Brooklyn steakhouses. I know what good service feels like. I know what a real atmosphere feels like too. And just as clearly, I know when I'm being served mediocrity wrapped up in an oversized, overpriced menu. Because, here's the thing: I don't need a chandelier dangling over my head to recognize when something tastes like actual trash. I'm perfectly happy at Cheesecake Factory, too, if the food's good. Because good food? It's good food. And bad food? Well, bad food is this sad little hostage situation they called a restaurant. By the time our plates hit the table, I honestly just found myself wishing we had gone to Cheesecake Factory instead. I shouldn't have to sit at a supposedly "prestigious" local restaurant and be thinking about chain food. But that's exactly what happened. Yes, it's a chain. Yes, it's commercial. But at least there, you know what you're getting -- steady food, actual flavor, friendly service, and a night that feels like it was worth showing up for. Here? It felt like they were trying to fake "prestige" without having a clue how to deliver it. Now the food. Oh god, the food: The fettuccine Alfredo was dry, bland, overcooked -- like whoever was in the kitchen just quit halfway through making it. And the chicken francese? It was drowning in a sad puddle of lemony water, soggy, falling apart before you could even stab it with a fork. It looked tired. It tasted worse. You know that awful, tacky feeling you get when chicken is cooked so badly it's like you're chewing a piece of gum? Yeah. That's what they served me. And somehow they thought $30+ was a fair trade for the privilege of chewing rubber. Nothing tasted seasoned. Nothing had richness or balance. It was just plate after plate of mediocrity pretending to be something more sophisticated. Now before anyone jumps in with, "Why didn't you just send it back?" -- here's why: After our original waitress disappeared (mysteriously, by the way), they sent in reinforcements. This second server was pushy, weirdly aggressive about reminding us, "This was made by our head chef! Let us know what you think!" Sending two meals back under that kind of hovering pressure wouldn't have solved anything. This wasn't about a bad plate. It was about realizing the whole kitchen, the leadership, the service -- it had all missed the mark by a mile. And after the second soggy forkful of chicken slid off my fork like wet paper? I didn't want to sit there and play "third time's the charm." I just wanted out. Nothing was going to save that meal, not a re-cook, not a new dish, not even prayer. It's the kind of half-hearted disaster that belongs on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Overpriced dishes. No clear vision. A sad, confused atmosphere. And food that could barely even be described as edible if we're being generous. The ambiance? Equally dreadful. If you're charging fine dining prices, you should at least be able to fake it better than this. Instead, the place felt like it was decorated in a rush with whatever was left in the clearance bin at Party City. If you've never eaten outside of Rochester, maybe you'd think this was fancy. Maybe if you've never set foot inside a real city restaurant, you'd think this was special. But for anyone who's ever tasted food that had a real chef's hands on it? It was just sad. Pathetic, really. It's nights like this that make me ache for New York City. Because anyone who's really eaten outside of Rochester, even once, would recognize this mess immediately for what it is: a total, unforgivable waste of time, money, and appetite.

Yelp
The food was delicious and well presented. Wait staff couldn't be nice and the ambiance inside was wonderful! Would highly recommend!

Yelp
We're a new Cardinal family and were kindly offered a 10% discount so we tried this gem out Move-in weekend and will be back. The setting is truly lovely outside on the patio overlooking the river and we thoroughly enjoyed the live music with the singer alternating back and forth between Italian and English... lots of Billy Joel covers and feel good songs. The food was delicious and the hostess is to be commended as the hubby had accidentally reserved us at the other location and she accommodated us regardless on a busy Friday evening. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The food was very good. The Alfredo was probably the best I've eaten in a while although it was quite pricey and added chicken was extra (also considerably expensive). The service was questionable though. When we went, it was barely busy and at minimum capacity. It took the host over 10 minutes to come to the host table and another 10 minutes to seat us. Waitress did not come around for about 20 minutes and was barely attentive throughout the meal. The food took another 50 or so minutes to arrive at table. Disappointing for such an expensive meal. The ambiance was nice, the inside had a nice atmosphere but lacked any unique aesthetic. The outdoor seating was better, will try to sit there if we come again. Overall good place questionable service. Not sure if it's worth the price all in all

Yelp
Came for here for a family dinner, party of 8, we did make reservations ahead of time even though we were eating in the middle of the week. We got here a little early to grab a drink at the bar inside, the interior seating seems nice from what I could tell. The host sat us at our table outside and it was perfect in the middle but close enough to see the Genesee River. It wasn't too hot or too windy outside, it honestly was a perfect night. They're was about 3 other large groups gathering for dinner and the other tables were couples or groups of 4. I forget our servers name but she was very friendly, my only complaints is that it took her forever to get us more drinks from the bar and also we did wait a liiiitle too long, in my opinion, for one of the dishes after all the other ones came out. It was a little odd. In terms of food, they are all SO delicious. For appetizers we got 2 or 3 different things, I only remember the lamb lollipops were perfect! The other appetizer we got was great but I just don't remember the name of it. I had the lobster Mac n cheese for my entree and boy oh boy, it was perfection... you must get this!

Yelp
Best place in Rochester to eat and great food and service with perfect location. Great atmosphere and beautiful dining room and bar.

Yelp
Awful service. Overpriced. Mediocre food. Decent ambiance. 45 min to get drink order. Over an hour before someone filled water glasses. Going on 3 hours before we just walked out. Won't be back.

Yelp
A very pretty , cozy, romantic ambiance with excellent service . Bread service at start was extra nice imo, and full bar w good selection of wines and good recommendations on wines as well . I felt very welcomed by the staff and attention to detail was excellent. I thought the beet salad was a tiny bit under-seasoned , really liked the caprese. Saltimbocca was better than the lobster ravioli if I had to pick. Overall a yes

Yelp
Had a great time at dinner. Absolutely love the atmosphere. Staff was attentive and kind. We booked one of the outdoor igloos for dinner and we loved it! The heaters keep you warm and cozy while you're outside and they surround the area with small fire lamps. Food was great and totally worth the price. My group of 4 split a calamari app and it was more than enough for everyone. You can definitely tell that it's homemade. There were also so many drink options and they were all great. Wine list has a great variety of New York State wines, beer menu has a good amount of options, and there's also a bunch of cocktails. I'd love to go back!

Mike B.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back, especially when attending a show at the Theater at Innovation Square (which I also highly recommend).

Liz H.

Yelp
This was the worst meal I've had dining out in recent memory. Everyone at our table had a different entree and all were not good. This place needs to hire a chef ! We will not be returning or recommending. Too expensive to give it another try.

Yelp
Have not been here a few years and I loved it before. Went last night and I would call it "fair" Apps were great, but my salad came at the same time as my entree. Felt rushed as the guys taking our dishes away tried to take my salad within 5 mins or so and only half eaten, so I stopped them. The lobster ravioli was ok but not as good as I recalled from the past. I also wanted my leftover salad and entree boxed and they started piling other dishes on top of mine as they took it out back! I'll probably be back but there are other places in town that are better than what I experienced last night at Pane Vino on the river. Maybe two locations has caused this one to have lost its luster.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
It's a nice restaurant but feel it is overpriced. We ordered a couple entree specials. I was shocked when the bill came ... $65 for each entree! The food was good, but just good. Definitely not $65 good. We are okay with paying $65 for something delicious. This wasn't that. The service and cocktails were excellent though.

Yelp
What a beautiful, end of the summer night spent at Pane Vino. As stated in their name, this restaurant overlooks the Genesee River. We were able to snag a table outside on this warm, but comfortable night. I chose the pasta primavera and my girlfriend decided on the chicken giuseppe. The pasta had a nice variety of veggies and it paired quite well with the wine sauce. I wasn't a huge fan of the subtle citrus notes, however, it was still appetizing. As for the Giuseppe, my gf kept raving about it! Perfect spot for a birthday dinner, date night, or to enjoy a nice cocktail outside near the river! Won't be my last time (excited to try the calamari & lobster ravioli)!

Stephen T.

Yelp
Wonderful dinner, experience and service. We can wait to go back. The food was delicious and the portions are so filling.

Tracey O.

Yelp
The hostess was rude after taking quite a while to appear at the hostess stand to seat us for our reservation. Several waiters told us someone would "be right with us". It was funny after the first few minutes, but as we stood there it was also extremely aggravating. When the hostels did appear, she was unsmiling, unwelcoming, and unfriendly. The food was fine and the waitress was fine, but it didn't compensate for the poor first impression. At these prices, everything should be over the top. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

Yelp
This review is for Pane Vino's event services only. I helped to organize and host a friends bridal shower brunch here at Pane Vino, and I cannot say enough about the staff, the food, or the venue itself. Marcie, the coordinator, was SO helpful in ensuring this event went off without a hitch. She was ready with mimosas in hand upon arrival and ensured that all 45 of our guests were caffeinated and content. All of our requests were met with acceptance and action, something I valued and made every element of the event great. The food was the highlight of the DAY. The brunch was extensive, pastries, fruit, bacon, eggs, chicken french, and penne alla vodka. Everything was delicious, fresh, and consistently replenished. Making Chicken French for a crowd is not the easiest thing, and this is honestly some of the best I've had...ever. Having never dined here before (shame!) I wasn't totally sure what to expect. I was blown away! We had a chilly day for this event (shocking - Rochester in April) but the event space was cozy and inviting. I had the bridal party hang coats for guests in Pane Vino's spacious front closet. The room itself did not need much by way of decor, as it is always lovingly decorated from season to season. I cannot wait to go back for lunch or dinner in the very near future! We have a plethora of wonderful event spaces here, but I highly recommend booking your next event here.

Yelp
Very disappointed in a Margherita pizza I ordered yesterday, 9/7/24. I should have sent it back. It looked like they had brushed tomato paste on it and the seasoning was terrible. I am use to a fresh tomato light base with fresh basil and fresh mozzarella. This was so bad. Nobody at my table even wanted to try it. The waiter asked me if I wanted to take what I didn't eat which was most of it home. I responded "No thank you. It was awful." At that point, you would think the waiter would apologize and offer to take it off my bill. He did not. Perhaps there was someone new on the kitchen with little or no experience. So disappointed as I was looking forward to a nice experience with my 3 girlfriends one of whom was a longtime friend if the owner.

Yelp
Food was delicious- definitely 5 star but service was awful and the owner totally ignored us and the fact that it took almost 30 minutes to bring our entrees. The owner, Richard, talked to all diners who had food , and completely ignored those who were waiting for food. Since we were seated under an AC vent, we asked three times that it be turned down because it was freezing where we were seated. Not worth returning

Yelp
Pane Vino on the River is one of the best places to dine near downtown Rochester. Although on the antipasti side of the menu, their lamb lollipops quickly became a fave of mine that I often pair with broccolini or another veggie. If it's warm outside, try to sit outdoors and take in the ambiance of the river!

Yelp
AMBIANCE (4 Stars) + FOOD (5 Stars) + SERVICE (2 Stars) = 3 Stars I made a reservation two months in advance for my in law's special occasion - party of seven. I requested specifically to be seated outdoors and was told as long as weather permitted, it wouldn't be an issue. Fast forward, two months later... it's an abnormally hot and humid summer in Rochester with random waves of breezy winds. The outdoor seating is in full effect with a live musician setting up to perform. Patio umbrellas are out because it's pretty hot and the sun is just glaring on bare shoulders all around. Our table of seven is getting ready to be seated. The host tries to seat us indoors claiming that rain is approaching. We let them know we would still prefer to sit outside. (note: there were no predictions of rain, and it never ended up raining.) They then seated us at one of the only tables that didn't have an open umbrella. Because it was still pretty sunny, we if we could open it. They let us know that we could not, because we were too close to the water. Meanwhile, we're seated in the center and the tables closest to the canal actually have their umbrellas opened. Made no sense, but we decided to move past it. But all in all, the outdoor seating was nice and located right next to the canal. Definitely romantic feels all around! Our server Dezarae was excellent. She was so sweet, friendly and super attentive to us the entire evening. She was also accommodating to our modifications and humored my crazy-ish and loud in-laws. We ordered for appetizers... Fried Calamari (Non-Spicy for the non-spicy loving family members) Pan-Fried Meatball Clams in White Wine Sauce Entree's... Lobster Ravioli Veal Parmigiana Eggplant Parmigiana Linguine & Clams Daily Special - Sea Bass with Risotto Everything was delicious. Pastas were perfectly al dente, seafood was fresh, and sauces were on point. The portions are super generous. Everyone had leftovers. The kitchen was backed up and orders were being made out of order. Eventually, everyone but one person got their food. By the time the last person's food came out, they were trying to clear the tables and pack our leftovers up. We asked them to please wait, as our last person JUST got their food. The last person's sea bass wasn't cooked through so it had to be remade. And again they were rushing us to clear our tables. When they brought out the sea bass, all our plates were taken off the tables - and the sea bass STILL wasn't good. The server was kind enough to take the sea bass back and off the bill. But the mood was dampened by the entire table being rushed when some of us were still clearly eating or waiting on food. To make matters worse, they were supposed to pack up our leftovers and accidently threw it all away. We asked to speak with the manager to let him know about our concerns. He walked up to our table immediately defensive and accused us of taking too long. When we explained our food was backed up and the issues, he continued to dismiss us, talk over us and act like we were slowing him down from having more guests. We knew the discussion wasn't going anywhere. Ended it at that and grabbed our bill. Upon paying for our bill, he tried to give us ONE free dessert for a table of seven. At that point, we were over it and moving on. The restaurant is beautiful and delicious. The server was EXCELLENT. In terms of management, POOR communication skills and bad bedside manner. For the prices you pay here, you should be treated respectfully.

Yelp
This has been a favorite restaurant of mine for years! I hadn't had an opportunity to visit in about 4 years so I was very much expecting our recent experience to be less than I'd remembered. I was wrong! The entire experience was as wonderful as it always was (pre Covid days!) The ambiance is top notch, the live music was wonderful, the food was tasteful and appropriately portioned and the service was phenomenal. I don't like the other location of this restaurant (pane vino on the ave) as it gives such a different vibe and nothing like this place but Pane Vino on the river will continue to be my Rochester favorite!

Yelp
Literally never had a bad meal here. The food is delicious and the portions are large. Whether it is appetizers, the main course, or drinks, everything is 100% quality. The chicken Anthony is my go to, but everything I've ever had is honestly great right down to the bread and butter!

Yelp
Food was below average...o had the veal w/ pasta. Pasta had a bad after taste switched it put for the broccoli which was very tasty. Veal had zero taste. This place uste to be excellent- not sure if it was just an off day. But my husband liked his meal chicken parm.

Yelp
Went for dinner tonight. They have a Get My Perks coupon that is usually available- $15 for a $30 coupon- helps defray the bill! It is a classic Tuscan style Italian restaurant in an old building along the river. My wife loves the Chicken Anthony with artichokes, roasted peppers, peas and prosciutto over linguine. It is excellent! I had the Penne Vodka with Chicken- also wonderful. We started with the spicy calamari app - which along with the bread- could be a good dinner! Great Italian food in the St. Paul Quarter!

Yelp
LOVE Pane Vino! They have two locations, and this location is easily my favorite. It has a very intimate setting, perfect for a date night or special occasion. We hosted our Rehearsal Dinner here and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel so special. They even printed up specialty menus for us with the date and a congratulatory message, which was such a special touch. They worked with us to create special drink tickets for our guests to use since we wanted to cover the cost of their first two drinks. I would absolutely host another special event or dinner here - would love the chance to work with this awesome team again! Menu highlights are the Chicken French (a Rochester staple!), Eggplant Parm and Linguine & Clams Sauce - but you can't go wrong with anything you choose!

Yelp
Fairly disappointed. We went on a Sunday night, early (5:30) and the restaurant is fairly empty, so I don't understand why the service was so off. It took like 10 minutes after being seated to have our drink order taken, and then after she dropped off our dinner our waitress never came back to check on us. 45 minutes later I got up to track her down and ask for our check. Never asked us how our meal was or if we wanted more wine or dessert. Food was okay, but pretty bland and not as nice quality as you'd expect for the price of the dinner entrees. We've had much nicer Italian dinners for less money and with better service. Only redeeming factors are the outside view and the pianist has a lovely singing voice.

Yelp
Dined at Panera Vino this evening with my girlfriend. Called at 4:30 for a reservation not sure if they would be able to get us in. Ended up being able to get a table at 5:30 which was perfect for us. The soup special of the night was lobster bisque which i was ready to order before the waitress could finish talking. Quite literally some of the best lobster bisque I've ever had in my life. Very hearty and extremely delicious. I followed that up with the rigatoni bolognese. What an enormous dish of pasta i was served. It was delightful and i can't wait to have the leftovers again tomorrow. My girlfriend had the lobster ravioli which i tried a bite of. The creamy vodka sauce with sun dried tomatoes was to die for. Overall a 10/10 experience. Not to mention a table outside on a lovely Rochester evening. If you're looking for a good Italian meal i would certainly recommend Pane Vino on the River.

Yelp
Always a delicious meal and drinks! The owner Richard runs a great restaurant, from bartenders, servers and valet, not to mention many nights has a live singer in the bar area! 11/10 recommend one of the best restaurants in Rochester

Yelp
Are they open again? Last three times I called they were still closed. Water main break, COVID, call first !
