In a historic townhouse, chef-owner Michael Strutton offers from-scratch Italian classics downstairs and a lively cocktail bar upstairs. Covered by local food writers, it’s a relaxed, date-night spot that keeps Old Town’s independent spirit front and center.

Love this place and the people! Went to participate in the Old Town Piano Bar Singalong Group and stayed until the last note. Looking forward to returning for this and other cultural / creative economy community events.

Excellent neighborhood style Italian restaurant. My wife and I went for a date night and got the Chicken Parmiginana and shrimp penne. Both were fantastic, but the shrimp penne was clearly the show stopper (not a seafood person personally, but kept stealing some from my wife!). Finally they have some great martinis too. The Weeknd vibe is great, but they also do a really good Martini special throughout the weekdays. Will definitely come again

My husband and I are new in the area and we just found this gem that has a mix of Greek, Italian and Mediterranean. Service was top notch, our server Feliciano was amazing. Very knowledgeable about the menu, allergies and very friendly. Food was neat, looking good and tasting even better. We will definitely be back.

We popped in here for a bite and it was really nice, and the prices can't be beat! The service was excellent and it was very cool to meet the owner. I had the chicken parm sub, which could have done for a bit more salt and less time for the sauce to be on the bread before serving, but overall the flavor was what I expected and the side salad was very nice. My partner had the mushroom ravioli and it was delicious. Overall we had a nice time and would come back.

11:30 a.m. and we wandered by and stopped to look at the menu. Next thing you know we were inside ordering chicken parm and carbonara. Neither of which is on the brunch menu. No problem they said. We want you to be happy they said. And we were. Great service. Fresh complimentary bread. The chicken parm was huge and yummy. The carbonara was great. The limoncello cake - a must. My boyfriend asked if could hug the waiter.

My wife and I live in Old Town and have enjoyed eating at Michael’s on King twice in the past two weeks and both times we had a really nice experience. Besides the great food, the service was exemplary, and the prices were very reasonable. Our first visit was late as we were returning from a flight into Dulles (!) at 2130 hrs and knew many restaurants would be closing soon. We picked Michael’s since it was on our way home, just a few blocks from our home, and we hadn’t eaten there in a while. As an aside, we find it hard to return to restaurants often because there are so many good choices in our city. Anyway, when we arrived only three tables were eating in the downstairs area, and we were quickly greeted, sat, and ordered immediately since it was late. There were no complaints from our server despite our late arrival. The ambience was old school Italian restaurant, with the audible but not too loud music to match. We were brought fresh bread which we were told was baked at the restaurant, and we were given a spicy olive oil mix to dip our bread into. It was delicious! We ordered drinks, and were quickly brought from the upstairs bar a very tasty Aperol spritz (my “go to” for an Italian cocktail) and a Pinot Noir. The food came out quickly and was hot. I had a delicious lasagne (apparently the owner’s grandmother’s recipe) and my wife loved her mushroom ravioli. A split tiramisu capped off the evening, and I could tell it was made in house since real coffee soaked the bottom of my dessert. The price was very reasonable, at $130 for two entrees, two drinks, one dessert, and an excessive tip because of our late arrival. Our second visit was only a week or so after because we had a such good time on our first visit. I’m clearly a non-foodie idiot because I had the lasagna once again, but in my defense it was really really good. Once again we had a great meal with even better service, with manager/head server Michael, who is not related to the owner also named Michael. Just a nice fellow who provided quick efficient service, especially considering that the restaurant was much more crowded since we had reservations at 1800 hours. Prices again were very reasonable for the high quality of food we received, spending $170 for an appetizer, two entrees, four drinks (I know, I know), one dessert to split, and again an excessive tip because of the personable service. Another great date night for us. My wife and I definitely recommend Michael’s on King. We enjoyed both of our meal experiences and think you will too. Try it, you’ll likely be very happy you did!

This was such a cute bistro for a Saturday night dinner. The patrons were older which was nice for us because we wanted to get away from noisy families. It was a very classy place playing great holiday music. The only issue we had was we were seated and then were sitting for about 20 min before we were helped. Apparently it was a hostess issue. But they were very apologetic and the food more than made up for it. The arancini with vodka sauce was perfect. And then my tortellini was fantastic. Their house made bread was also delicious, they gave us extra with our leftovers. Will definitely come back and try other menu items!

Google
First clue that this wasn’t going to be a good dining experience was the menu. Hummus, eggplant lasagna (our server said it was essentially eggplant parmigiana), shrimp po’boy, and tacos were on the menu. Hardly an Italian restaurant. The arancini was soft like it was precooked and then microwaved, which we heard being used several times during our visit, before being served. It was smothered in a bland remoulade that I knew would be in my po’boy (yes, I was right). Soggy fries accompanied my po’boy that had fried shrimp made by Sysco. It was all terrible. Steak not cooked to temperature. Lifeless eggplant “lasagna” on a bed of over cooked spaghetti. There were no patrons on a busy Saturday night. A sad place with pitiful food.

Yelp
Unassuming Italian restaurant in Old Town with great food at a very affordable price I came here for dinner with my fiancé on a Friday night. Although the space is pretty small there were tons of tables available, as there were only 2 other parties in the place. Both the food and drink menus are large, and they are also surprisingly eclectic as well. Our server was very friendly Tasty complimentary bread & spicy olive oil Portions are large, and food was great. Apparently they have live music frequently in the upstairs portion of the restaurant

Yelp
Did not realize this was the former Michaels! Tiny inside but cozy and very quiet on a Saturday night. Therefore service was super fast. I did not see any live jazz performance but that's ok! Food was good, very solid but not amazing. The dolma appetizer was fresh and tasty. I tried the penne vodka and it was good and not a huge serving size. I only had a bit leftover. The chicken was cooked well and the sauce wasn't too spicy. Cozy little place and good food overall!

Yelp
I went here for restaurant week with my friend and it did not disappoint. We came in early on a Saturday evening and there was nobody in the restaurant. Even so the waiter treated us so kindly and let us sample wines before ordering a glass. There was a live performer playing the piano which was nice and added to the ambiance. The food was delicious! We decided not to do the restaurant week deal and just ordered from the regular menu which worked out better for us. The food was very tasty and delicious. This was a cute neighborhood spot and I would most definitely return and recommend

Yelp
Incredible! Must try! Buffalo cauliflower was incredible and mozzarella sticks! Feliciano was awesome!

Yelp
Really nice experience. Great service from Feliciano (5*) despite also taking care of a large group of 10 near us. Cute decor that retains some of the "home" dining feel. Multi-floor options with a small martini bar on the 2nd and potential live music on the 1st. I enjoyed the Greek Salad. Fresh ingredients and good flavor. I really enjoyed the Lasagna. It was a large portion and great flavors. I tasted the Shrimp Penne Vodka. It had meatballs added. The meatballs were really good. With some room for dessert, I had the Lemoncello Cake. Very good, not too tart. Loved this meal. Lots of other great options on the menu that i really want to try. Feliciano was so nice. Definitely give them a try and let me know what you think!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!!!! It is definitely a hidden gem on King Street. It may be unassuming on the inside, but trust me the food is so good. We got the arancini, filet mignon, and chicken penne vodka. Everything was 10/10. Our server, Feliciano, was so kind and lovely. We will be back!

Yelp
I forgot the pictures- food and upstairs space with musicians! Stand sit listen eat - whatever you choose.

Jonathan M.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and the vibes are great. It was very empty when a friend and I went last night but once word gets out, I can see it becoming a fantastic meeting spot for dates, hangouts, or families. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the top two floors which weren't open yet but the second floor bar/music and the top floor cigar lounge have me very excited. The warm bread served with olive oil and zatar was a nice touch and paired very nicely with the Iranian pilsner before my meal of the eggplant lasagna which was absolutely incredible. I will be back with friends to try more from the menu and to check out the live music!

Yelp
Epicure is now offering BRUNCH starting at 11am. Our 2 dishes- Eggs Benedict and Sausage/egg skillet dish were delicious. Loved the quiet atmosphere and great service.

Yelp
This place is an underrated gem in Old Town. My boyfriend, our friend, and myself went on a Friday night and had the best service we've had in such a long time - shoutout, Feliciano! We got a bottle of the Sauv B, two entrees (seafood lasanga and filet mignon), and a dessert (the limoncello cake) all for $100 TOTAL because they were running a special that night. Everything was yummy. The server let us know of their upstairs bar which has live music multiple times a week and their multiple happy hours during the week as well. Their website doesn't link to a usable reservations page or advertise their happy hours, though. This place opened up about 7 months ago, so think if they added more information to their website and maybe created an instagram, they'd attract a lot more new, loyal customers.

Yelp
Three for lunch this day, our server Feliciano was very friendly and attentive and went above and beyond with his service. We ordered 2 croque monsieur sandwiches with fries and a chicken parm sub with fries, while the croque monsieur's got raves the chicken parm was merely ok, the fries were plentiful, tasty and crispy. While waiting for our sandwiches we tried the in house baked bread that was good, the dipping oil was ok but a little over seasoned for my taste, overall a good experience and will go back again to try the dinner menu.

Yelp
Went for the first time tonight. I will be back. I know what good pasta is and this was it. Very nice experience. Feliciano added to the evening with his helpful and pleasant service. It was very nice weather so we grabbed one of the outdoor tables.

Yelp
Very lovely environment for drinks and appetizers/dessert. We went to 2nd floor bar on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Love the atmosphere and our server was fantastic and accommodating. We are locals and will definitely come back as one of our "go to" spots.

Yelp
Average. Fixed price Valentine's meal was a decent value, but the food was drab. Nothing special. Stuff you could get anywhere. Service was attentive, though. With the high commercial rents in the area and the fact the restaurant doesn't stand out, diners will take their business elsewhere and this location will be shuttered in 18 months. Sorry.
