What a wonderful culinary German experience! Jackie #1 provided outstanding service! The Roulladen were excellent!! (You must order these when you come!) I was dubious because i make them myself but Haus Murphy’s did not disappoint!! The fried potatoes were so very tasty. I also was delighted to order a gluten free German chocolate pie. The wall decor reminded me of my childhood😊

If you are looking for authentic German food and a friendly atmosphere, you should visit Haus Murphy’s. I had the roulade with spätzle and red cabbage, and it was very good. My husband had the schnitzel platter, and we also ordered a giant pretzel. The pretzel was fine, nothing too special, but everything else was outstanding. Of course, we also ordered a couple of beers, and they were both good as well. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we would go back for sure!

We came out to Haus Murphy's Octoberfest event. Our party of four had reservations inside the dining room, but the "Alley" was much more festive (at an additional charge). The food and service were excellent. We started with authentic Octoberfest and Dunkel beer in giant 32oz. steins. The shared pretzel came hot with spicy mustard and cheese sauce. Our German specialties for dinner included two Schnitzels and several Bratwurst. The side dishes were a wonderful addition to the meal; Applesauce, Fried Potatoes, warm Potato Salad, Spatzel noodles, Red Cabbage and loads of delicious Sauerkraut. Service was timed perfectly, just the right amount between courses because we wanted to socialize. Our server helped us with special requests and questions about the event menu. We added Apple Strudel, Chocolate Pie and German Chocolate Cake to finish the meal. And ended the night with Apfel Schnapps and dancing in the "Alley." A memorable evening. Thank you Haus Murphy's.

Everything was absolutely delicious! We highly recommend checking this place out! We asked our waitress for a few suggestions and were not disappointed. I had a craving for German food and this was exactly what we had hoped for.

We ate outside in the nice weather. Potato cakes to begin and a large sampler for the entree. Apple strudel for dessert. We had 32 oz beers. I had a grapefruit/wheat and my wife had a pilsner. All of it was perfect. I'm first gen American with German parents. I have always eaten German food. This place has my seal of approval. Very nice staff. Clean environment.

Haus Murphy’s is an excellent restaurant! I am German and I can truly say this restaurant is showing true german cuisine whilst offering delicious and authentic food with a great taste!😇 The Schnitzel was perfectly cooked, the Potatoes were great in taste and the Beer selection is outstanding! This place is a definitely a recommendation! 🇩🇪 🍻

I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and was seated right away with friendly and attentive service. The German appetizers were filling and tasty, the beer cheese was great and the cozy old school vibe made it a really enjoyable visit.

*cue the song Edelweiss from Sound of Music* From the accordion playing my favorite German song, to the amazing food - I felt like I was transported back to Germany. My husband got the special with the German sausage on a pretzel bun, jagerschnitzel, and a side of red cabbage. The homemade house mustard was delicious and a perfect addition to that scrumptious sausage. The schnitzel? Best I’ve ever had outside of a traditional German club. I ordered the sauerbraten. It came with red cabbage and spaetzle. The gravy and the sauerbraten - a Guy Fieri favorite - was without question worth our drive from north Phoenix. It tasted *almost* the same as my Omi’s. The spaetzle was quite dry and flavorless, but with all the gravy you couldn’t tell if you mixed the plate just right. To make a great German meal more perfect, the little man playing the accordion played some of my favorite German songs as I was nestled in a dining room that looked like a replica of the Black Forest. Our server, Tia, was the worse part of our meal. She was curt, bordering rude, when my husband asked a question because our menus were different. Scotty (the other server we wished we had) kept our waters full and our table attended to. Love this place, love the food - despite the server snafu we will definitely be back.

I tried this little gem over the weekend and I'm sure glad I did. It's not something I'd normally opt for, but in this case, it helped me find a place I would definitely return to. Haus Murphy's is a quaint spot in Glendale serving up good beer and German eats. I met my party in their biergarten (patio), and didn't enter the establishment. Therefore, I can't really speak to the ambiance, but this isn't really the kind of place you go for ambiance anyway. The patio was long and narrow, which is great because it offered some shade from the buildings it's situated between. The one element that added to the patio ambiance was the giant banner over my table that read, "I got my schnitzel pounded at Haus Murphy." I got a laugh out of that. If you don't, I'm very sorry for your unfortunate lack of humor. The food: We ordered a few dishes, including the giant Oktoberfest pretzel, stuffed mushrooms, currywurst, chicken schnitzel, and the jalapeño cheddar brat. One of my foodie friends also had the old fashioned to drink. The old fashioned was a lowlight. It was made with chocolate bitters and super sweet. Another opportunity was that their hot mustard wasn't very hot. My dining mate, who had dined there before, said it used to clear your sinuses, which I actually would have preferred. The rest of the food was amazing. In particular, the sauces stole the show. The currywurst, which came with battered fries (my favorite), had a side of curry ketchup that was out of this world. The pretzel came with a super light cheese spread that was unlike any cheese sauce I've ever had. The mushrooms also sat in a cream sauce that was savory and delicious. They were topped with crispy fried onions, so that dish had a nice variety of flavors and textures. Finally, the chicken schnitzel had a white wine sauce that literally tasted like heaven. Worth honorable mention: I'm not a big fan of kraut, but theirs was packed with amazing flavor and not as sour as many I've tried. If you're a German food enthusiast or just in the area, you'll definitely want to try this place. You, too, can get your schnitzel pounded at Haus Murphy!

7/5/25: Short version - quaint restaurant, gorgeous decor, excellent food, fantastic service. Totally worth a revisit. Long version - this particular Saturday we opted for a late lunch/dearly dinner. Craving German food, my sister selected Haus. I had been there years earlier (before I started Yelping) & enjoyed it immensely so off we went. Service: far exceeded our expectations. Our server, Scottie, was wonderful. He was friendly, bantered with us the entire time, kept checking in to see how things were, if we needed anything. He was knowledgeable about the menu & we often sought his advice, going with his recommendations. Appetizers: 10 oz pretzel & stuffed mushrooms. The pretzel was gi-normous. Scottie offered to have more salt added to the pretzel (it was a bit bare). Now that's an eye for detail many people don't have. But it was salted enough for us, plus it was hot & the mustardy cheese that came with was perfect. The stuffed shrooms were so damn tasty. The plating was well done (almost too pretty to eat). I said almost. We dove right in. :-) They were chock full of meat (no skimping involved), the drizzles on the plate were mild & added some flair; and though I am not a fan of onions, I still enjoyed the dried/fried onions that came with the shrooms. Cocktails: Black Forest old fashioned, Schwimmbad. Smooth & sweet respectively. Decently priced. It was Shots Saturday, which meant 1/2 price shots (two shots for $8). First round was the Feiling (fig vodka) & Kirschwasser (tasted like 100 proof moonshine). We both agreed the Feiling was the best (slightly sweet, smooth like the bourbon), the Kirschwasser was too harsh for us. Our second round we enjoyed schnapps shots (say that fast five times): apfel & blackberry. Of those, the apfel was the best. The next Saturday we visit Haus, it will be rough trying to decide which shots to get, go with what we know or try something new. It's going to be a tough decision. Ha! Meals: Kassler brat combo (pork chop aka chunk of ham; choice of brat, I selected the big smokey; chose two gravy sides: paprika & rouladen; also a side of spätzle), plus the Eisbein (smoked pork shank). Both came with sauerkraut (duh) and the brat combo had whipped potatoes, the Eisbein came with German fried potatoes. DELICIOUS! All of it was DELICIOUS! Very large portions of everything, even the spätzle. Hell, I had delicious leftovers for lunch at work for the next three days, it was that much food ... of course we had to save room for dessert. Dessert: sauerkraut torte. We have Scottie to thank for this selection. Once again, he was spot on. We were a bit apprehensive about the sauerkraut but he explained it was for moisture -- and yes, the torte was extremely moist (and no, it was not "sauer" but sweet). Final answer? Haus Murphy's is a joy. Large menu, friendly & courteous staff willing to explain & offer recommendations, reasonably priced items, large portions. Will most definitely come back.

Authentic German food can be hard to come by. I'm so glad we took a chance on this cute little hole in the wall. The food was delicious! Portion sizes were so fair for the price. Please don't expect much in the way of decor inside, but know that you're going to get great food. Our server was awesome- he offered food suggestions, kept our drinks filled, and even swapped us to a bigger table after ordering our food because he knew all our plates wouldn't fit on the smaller table. Can't wait to return!

A pretty cool German restaurant/bar located in Downtown Glendale! Parking can be difficult since there isn't much parking spots but there is a parking structure across the street as well as street parking Service is ok and not too attentive. It can get pretty loud inside especially on the weekends when it gets packed Menu has a huge variety of German dishes, whether you want a sandwich, bratwursts, or a traditional schnitzel plate. Pricing is pretty pricey so expect to pay $20+/dish but they give you plenty of food! Got the Traditional Sauerbraten ($29.95) and it's limited availability AND Guy Fieri's favorite (apparently, he's been to this spot before and this was his FAVE!) it's marinated in their special mixture for 9+ days and then slowly cooked for 12 hours! I thought the gravy was very salty and I wasn't a fan of the beef. The purple cabbage was very interesting and sweet. It was pretty enjoyable and flavorful. This dish was 6/10 for me Got the Schwimmbad ($12) and it was pretty strong but refreshing. It was very fruity and I enjoyed the pineapple juice, coconut cream, and blue Curacao. This was 8/10 for me It's an unique spot to check out but I probably won't return. I would recommend it for first timers!

Horrible customer service. I want to start by saying this is the most racist place I have ever been to. I walk in to use the restroom and right away a bus boy or server asked if we were customers we say yes we're at the bar. Than when I use the restroom again the boy walks into the restroom just to ask if we are paying customers. I was very confused why a man was in the girls restroom. I told him we're at the bar once again and I expressed the concern to another co worker and they just walked away. The first server boy or waiter was telling me and my sisters to get out of the restaurant. I don't even know how this place is still in business.

We were excited to try this place in Glendale after having made our first trip to Germany last month. However, the similar menu items to those in Germany are about the extent of the similarities. Here's the good: The waiter (a guy whose name eludes me) was very kind and friendly; he also kept our water filled. The menu was also very German. The potato salad are hot, cooked potatoes - they were good. Now, the not-so-good: The wait for our food was long. The kids mac-n-cheese looked like it had sat on the counter a while & was barely warm. The sauerkraut is nothing like in Germany - it was super sweet. Same with the red cabbage. The jalapeño cheddar brat was alright but the smoky beef brat was better. We would also have preferred the brats a little more browned on the outside. The chicken schnitzel was just okay. Also, the restaurant could have been more clean and some of the decor needs repair. Glad we tried the place but probably won't return.

We have been going to eat here for our anniversary almost 9 years. We love the food and it gives us great reminders of our time living in Spangdahlem. There is a lot of renovations happening and I can't wait to see what's new. Don't hesitate if you are looking for authentic German cuisine.

Best schnitzel in the entire state. I am over 45 min away and I will drive over and over for this meal. Love the atmosphere of the place super homey and the food is just unreal. The white wine mushroom sauce I could drink and the red cabbage would be a death row meal for me alone.

Finally checked this place out and it was so fun! We went on a Friday night and it was probably the busiest place in downtown Glendale. They had live music playing! The food looked and smelled amazing but we just tried the pretzel - which was delicious! We got a flight of beer - I tried one from each category and loved them all. We were too full to try anything else - definitely come with an appetite for the full experience! We will be back!

Group of 10 with two handicapped people made a reservation. We arrived at 5:30. Dinner order was not taken until 6:30. Waiter was rude. Food was good but over priced.

This review is based on our last visit ~ two years ago. Haus has been my go-to for Authentic German food for 20+ years and what I grew-up with at home. Located in the historic old downtown Glendale Az where many of the historic shops have been repurposed as antique shops, restaurants, quaint center park. It's a fun place to walk for a look back in time. Haus Murphy's Parking (impacted score) On street parking is the primary place on both sides of the street including around the park. If not so lucky there are parking lots nearby that require a little walking. Ambiance - Classic German. Outside is the Biergarten which is best enjoyed in season and is a fun spot to enjoy your meal while listening to live entertainment. There is a dedicated Bar outside for Biergarten patrons. Inside the ambience is classic Deutschland decor and colors. Done in the spirit of Historic Downtown Glendale. Menu If this is your first visit to a German restaurant there are some items that would be more familiar like chicken Parmesan Deutsch style. Our favorites are any of the Bratwursts, Schnitzels; Jaeger or Schweitzer all w/o sauces. Favorite sides are (traditionell) red cabbage, Sauerkraut (Ein Muss), German potato's. Desert favorite are the strudels (Süßes Brot). Adult beverage selections Haus offers a large selection of German Brews, Wines and liquors. $$/$$ depending on adult beverages. Late post, we ate here in July when we first got to Phoenix. I lived in Germany when I was young for 3 years and really enjoyed the food. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. I love Jaegar schnitzel and theirs was tasty! Ate it with spaetzle. My husband had the platter for 2 to share with me. Everything was delicious! Next time we will come for dinner have some German beer & dessert.

I could have sworn I wrote my review after finally visiting this place that I have seen for years and have been really wanting to try! I went with some friends after work, and I swear it was around Oktoberfest because they had a special menu that we ordered from. I will go through my phone later and upload the pictures I know I took. I want to say I got a chicken schnitzel. Pretty much anything I ordered was new to me. I had a really nice time with my friends and I got to see a lot of the food since just about everyone ordered something different. It really is a place to try. There are a few places to park nearby, as there are only a couple of spots right out front of the place.

We were promptly greeted upon arrival, but unfortunately, we were seated in the back room bar area, which felt more like an overflow warehouse. While I understand the building's age might contribute to the smell, the dirty floors and dust were unacceptable. The place looked neglected, as if the owners didn't care about its appearance. There's a fine line between having a restaurant with charm and character and one that looks outdated and unkempt. I've visited other European-themed restaurants with even more decor, yet they manage to stay clean-- or think Cracker Barrel, for an easy example. They have charm and they are clean, and it looks like a real restaurant not an old Wearhouse with broken tables. The limited street parking is another drawback, making it less likely for me to return. The customer service was also disappointing. Our waitress was unfriendly and answered questions with a hint of attitude. When I ordered a beer flight, she bluntly informed me they no longer offer them, despite it being on the menu. She explained they didn't have enough glasses and couldn't serve it without causing issues with other tables. When I inquired about the differences between two beers on the menu, she said they were out of stock. After several more questions, I finally settled on a Paulaner. It was frustrating to see items on the menu that weren't available, and instead of me having to ask all the questions, the waitress should have proactively suggested alternatives. On a positive note, the beer and the schnitzel sampler I ordered were good. However I would have liked more of the schnitzel sauce because it was not enough to taste and you end up tasting just the schnitzel. The pretzels was good. Total was 65

This is my favorite German food. It's so freaking good! I am obsessed with the Schnitzel. We get the plate for two to share and it has a little bit of everything. The only thing here is the service is never good. Sometimes it's almost on the side of rude. Tia was our server tonight. Slow as could be. She would come back after asking for her and have excuses that she is also tending the bar. The nice man in the dining room should have just taken care of all of the tables because he was nice and doing more work than her. I wish my tip would have went towards him.

Haus is the best German Restaurant in Arizona, hand's down. A fun and festive atmosphere with authentic German cuisine and an amazing staff. You must try it!

Stopped here after a fair thanks to my manager recommending this place. My friend and I shared the meatloaf sandwich and potato salad. It was freaking delicious. I think the best meatloaf I've had. Hope my mom doesn't read this from heaven, lol. The meatloaf was so flavorful, and that gravy OMG soooo good. Potato salad was quite tasty too.

So we moved far from our normal German place Edelweiss. I've been craving some schnitzel and found this place online. We started with the Giant Oktoberfest pretzel. It was pretty good but the cheese is a spread not a sauce and it was cold. Tasted alright but could have been better. My wife got the Schweitzer schnitzel which is almost like a cordon bleu but with pork. Pork, Black Forest ham and cheese. She said it was ok didn't have enough cheese but she really liked the potatoes. I had the Jager Schnitzel. It was hot and crispy with a tender center. The only complaint I have is it could have used more sauce. I agree with my wife the potatoes were really good. Nether of us ate the cabbage, it's just not our thing. Overall it was pretty good. If we have time to drive we would probably head to edelweiss but in a pinch this place will do.

Haus Murphy's is really hard for me to rate because things would drag it down to a three star rating, then other mitigating factors would pull it back to four stars, then back and forth again. I've probably had this restaurant bookmarked for more than a decade but we live an hour away. We finally made it here tonight. Ambiance: I thought it was terribly drab, with cheap furniture, dirty windows, and low budget posters on the walls BUT having the accordion guy playing was kinda nice. Food: I love späetzle but theirs tasted very flavorless to me BUT my Schweizer Schnitzel was very good - breaded expertly, tender, and cooked to perfection. Service: There is no dispute here. Scottie was a really sweet, wonderful waiter. He's probably why I settled on four stars rather than three. Even though I ended up liking my schnitzel, I was disappointed enough in the ambiance of Haus Murphy to not want to make the trek back out to Glendale again.

Haus Murphy's has been in Glendale for decades. I have been a couple of times with long periods In between. Mostly because I wasn't very impressed with the food. It isn't bad, but with so many places to eat, I prefer to spend my money on more than just OK food. My grandson wanted to eat here so we did. It's been years since I was here. Walked in and it looked like the place hadn't been cared for and the tables and chairs looked it. We ordered, and the food came out hot. I got veal schnitzel, and my wife and grandson shared a schnitzel platter. The food was once again OK. MY SCHNITZEL was bland. My wife tasted hers and said I make it better. The server was very nice, but it took a while for someone to come to us. When she did she greeted us with "has anyone helped you yet"? It also took a while for the food to come, but like I said it was hot. For me, once again it's not worth the cost for just OK food.

I usually get the chicken schnitzel at Haus Murphy's. It's always delicious and never disappoints. For an appetizer, we tried the Haus Brot. It's a bread stuffed with ham and cheese. It was pretty tasty. They have a great selection of German beers too. I've tried the Warsteiner Dunkel and Hofbrau Lager. The service was friendly but expect to spend a decent amount of time there for a meal as the kitchen can be slow at times. They sometimes have live music with tubas and accordions.

Love this place, everything always hits the spot. Paprika Schnitzel is my favorite by far, but everything I've had has always been great.

This spot is great! Delicious, authentic food, and a great environment! Good service as well. I just wish it wasn't so far away from me, but when I'm in the area, I'm going!

If you want good German food this is the place. The food is always consistent. Would highly recommend them.

We went here yesterday and this place is absolutely delicious! We had been there one other time before and tried a beer flight and that was really good too. We had the stuffed mushrooms, Eisben, and the Kasepatzle.

It was rather busy when we got there. They were able to find a table in the back for us. I think there was only two waitresses working so it took awhile to be served. We got a pretzel with beer cheese to start. It was a little on the salty side for me but was really soft. Our food came out and I wanted just a little more gravy. I was charged &1 for the gravy and not advised of the charge. That is annoying. It was very loud in the place Until it seemed all but one of the tables left. The food was good, I will be back. However, I will try to go at a less busy time.

Food, service, outside dining...epic! Pretzel was mind blowing. The German potato salad was exactly like I had growing up in a German family and really close to what I had in Munich. Prost!

We had Reservations for 6pm for a party of 20 but it was downsized to 11 people. Our Server was Kaylie and she started out nice but we had people ordering drinks and asking about different items on the menu and that started to irritate her. We had Appetizers and they came out fairly soon but after about another hour sitting there, she came back out to check to see what 3 people in the party had ordered. So we politely asked her if they forgot the order or hadn't made it (We were going to just ask them to cancel the order at that time since we were all starving) and she told us that it was ordered & she just needed to verify it. She wrote down all our orders so she had her pad of paper she could have verified it truthfully with the kitchen. So it is going on about 8pm and the dishes start slowly trickling out. Mind you other parties have already been seated served and have left while we were waiting for our food. The food came out at all different temps, some meals were hot, some were just warm like they were sitting there or under a heat lamp. The Meatloaf was very dry and the Beef Roulade was extremely tough and had no flavor like I've had before there. She never came back to check to see how any of our meals were or how we were doing but sadly she complained about our table to the other waiters and bartender since we overheard it. The Bar area and outside seating area have gone down hill. They used to have strings of lights outside that ran over the table area which are gone and inside it used to be a little darker for a more authentic feel but that has all gone away. This was my Favorite place to come after Thanksgiving but the Service has drastically gone down hill and the food was not as genuine and delicious as years past! I'm not sure if Owners have changed or they don't care about the Restaurant like before but it definitely shows. Our bill of $489.00 wasn't cheap for the sub par experience & mediocre service. I hope you as the owners take these 1Star comments to heart and try to improve the Experience and Bring back the good German feel/food you used to have!!

Amazing Food, above and beyond Service and authentic German Ambiance. Great location in the heart of Glendale and many shops nearby to stroll by.

Food isn't the same, service can't even call it poor because there was only two people working front and back. Atmosphere is not like it used to be. You walk in and you were greeted with a smile ladies in there, German attire, man in their attire table cloths on tables where has it all gone can't say, but I will not be back water bust.

Tried this place based on a colleague's recommendation. We got the platter for 2 and Schnitzel sampler and it was more than enough food for 3 people it would probably feed 4-5 comfortably. The Schnitzels were all great, the meatloaf got mixed opinions from the group it definitely doesn't taste like the standard American meatloaf but it is authentic German food after all. I also tried their Grapefruit beer and it was probably one of the best I've had, though I don't drink much. I also loved the atmosphere it was quaint but clean and they had fun German music, I assume folk it wasn't pop or anything. The food did take awhile to come out but I take that as it being prepared from Scratch. They also offered me a nice little Streudel for my birthday which was also delicious.

Been here a few times and it's never disappointed! We normally get the same dishes and I am not German at all but my friends dad is and he enjoys it. Service I will say can be hit or miss but I wouldn't let that keep you from coming. Also love the bar inside and that they have both indoor and outdoor seating!

Attended their Oktoberfest. Made a reservation for 6:00. Didn't matter, because we ended up waiting for 20 minutes in line. Reservations couldn't be made online, you had to send them your phone number and they call you individually. Cover charge was $10pp, cash only, even though they accept cards for food. No ATM on premises. Finally seated around 6:30. Wait a while, order drinks. Wait longer. Eventually order food. We order appetizers, mains, and try to order dessert. Our waiter gives us attitude for trying to order dessert along. Completely uncalled for. Eventually receive drinks. Wait at least another 30 minutes. Finally receive apps. Pretzel was fine, but we were starving by this point, as it was 90 minutes from when our reservation was supposed to begin. Finish it quickly. Wait, literally, no joke, at least another hour. They forgot about us. I go to get another drink. Apparently getting drink tickets at the front is cheaper than ordering with the server. Oh well. Server is giving everyone around us attitude for asking where their food is. Other people leave without paying because they were forgotten about too. Other people around us eventually receive their food. They help flag our waiter. They finally bring our mains out. It's for the wrong table. Oops. Another few minutes. At long last, our food is here, 2.5 hours from our reservation start. It's cold. Schnitzel is soggy. Potatoes are burnt. We eat. We give up on dessert. We wait at least another 30 minutes for the check. It's for the wrong table. Wait a few more. The check now has a bunch of extra stuff we didn't order on it. Finally receive correct check. Waiter is nowhere to be found to take it. Flag someone else to charge it. We finally receive it back and leave, 3.5 hours from our reservation start time. You may ask, why didn't we go and dance and listen to the band since it's Oktoberfest? We wish we could. We could barely hear them. There was hardly room near the stage to dance. The benches were set up so it was nigh impossible to get out from them on one side next to the wall. Once you were in, you were in. The most depressingly disappointing experience we've had in Phoenix. People say this is the best Oktoberfest in the Valley. Somehow that's true (Oktoberfest Tempe is impressively worse), and yet it is also completely unrecommendable.

From the moment we sat down we were welcomed! The restaurant was full of diners. Good and plenty of German food.

This place was SO good! My nephew has been wanting to try this eatery and decided that now (while my husband and I were visiting) was the best time! I'm so glad that he waited for us. This place was actually featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. There was so much to choose from. We started with an order of their stuffed mushrooms. They were stuffed with sausage, spinach and herbs, and served over some kind of mushroom cream sauce. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. For my entree I ordered the Schnitzel sampler plate. It came with one Chicken schnitzel, one Jaeger schnitzel, and one Paprika schnitzel. I liked them all, but I think I liked the Paprika one the best. It was served with German potatoes and red cabbage. All very good, and very plentiful. My husband got the Kassler Brat combo, my nephew got the Big Smoky Beef Bratwurst, and my niece got a Caesar salad with chicken. There were no complaints. There was even a musician playing an accordion. Everything was great. Too bad we don't live in the area.....we would totally like to eat there again.

In the historic section of Downtown Glendale, a block away from Murphy Park is Haus Murphy. Laid back and casual setting, diners here can enjoy a delicious, German meal; one of the best schnitzel I've tasted! Start off with the Bavarian Pretzel; the pretzel is incredible with the spicy mustard! Definitely order the Potato Pancakes! Crispy outside, delicious potato inside and serving it with sour cream and applesauce - amazing! If we didn't order dinner, our party would have ordered 2 more of these! I had the Jäger Schnitzel, so delish! More yummy potatoes and the red cabbage was tasty (don't knock it 'til you try it!)! Also, if you're not sure what biers to order, they offer a flight of 4 biers. Not sure which 4 to order, no problem, our server selected 4 for us and all tasted good. (Note: I'm not big on drinking beers, but this convinced me) Oh, and don't forget dessert! Can't go wrong with Strudels. But next time, I need to try the Black Forest Torte! Can't wait to come back here to dine again!

Hidden little gem in downtown Glendale. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know a lot about German food and drink, but Haus Murphy's is worth a visit! Service: Nothing too special here but they're certainly friendly enough and get the job done. We came on a Saturday evening without reservations and despite being very busy they found a spot for us. Food/Drink: Again, I have nothing to compare it against in terms of German food but it was all enjoyable. I think I got the Jager Schnitzel and Potato Pancakes along with two different wines while I was there. The Schnitzel had great flavors and a nice crispy texture and the Potato Pancakes were decent but I didn't really dig the sauces. It's been a few months now and I forget which wines I drank, but one was German and one was French. Neither were varietals I had heard of before. I've never been the biggest fan of old world wines, but these weren't bad and getting to try new varietals is always fun. Ambiance: This was the highlight in my opinion. From the front door the restaurant winds through various rooms with a range of German decor. As we approached the large back room where we would be seated we started hearing accordion music with voices singing. As we walk in the room we see a jovial old man playing an accordion with the entire room singing along to "Do-Re-Mi"! He later went from table to table accepting requests, so it was really dinner and a show!

My family visited this place on Wednesday and it had quite a few people dining. We were sat in the back room so it was pretty quiet. We ordered the Oktoberfest big pretzel with the house cheese and the potato pancakes as starters. They were pretty good, although i wasn't a fan of the cheese dip. For mains we ordered Wiener schnitzel, chicken schnitzel, das Haus brot, currywurst, and Oma's hackenbraten. There were no complaints on the food at all. We were also celebrating a birthday so they gave us a small slice of apple strudel which was super good too. We also ordered a apfelschnapps snot which was incredibly good. Our waitress was very attentive and the food all came out hot. We enjoyed our food. I did use the restroom here and it was a little odd, one stall have the toilet seat completely removed and sitting on the floor. Thankfully the other stall was all put together. It is in an older building so it's a little "small" and the entrance isn't marked very well (it's through the outside sitting area as opposed to the front door) there is also a missing gate or something to the outside sitting area that has some exposed bolts that my sister stepped on and hurt her foot. So just be aware as there wasn't any signage or anything warning and someone could trip and fall or puncture there shoe on it.

Always, always, always delish. Beers from thousand year old German breweries, and the best dishes outside of Europe. Relish.

Love their chicken schnitzel! The pretzel appetizer comes with *cold* cheese -- knowing it's meant to come that way makes it much more enjoyable. Their warm potato salad is so good. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive.

We were visiting the area and decided to try the clean restaurant serving German food in downtown Glendale. The service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious and very filling. Would definitely stop by again if we are in the area.

Went for my brothers birthday. Everyone was really friendly and the accordion players were there to brighten the mood. The pretzels were really good. The mushrooms were tasty, but not as savory as last time. Best sauerkraut I've ever had. Will come back.

Yikes! What happened to this place? We came in around 4:30pm on a Friday night and there was only one other couple dining in the restaurant. We were seated at a table inside and immediately noticed how dirty and unkempt the restaurant was. The ceiling fans were filled with dust, the floors were dirty, the curtains on the window at our table were filthy, there were holes on the table top, the walls were filthy and there were visible dust particles floating around. All of this, on top of the musty odor permeating the air, made me immediately lose my appetite. Nonetheless, we decided to order two drinks and the stuffed mushroom appetizer. The drinks took 15 minutes to arrive and the stuffed mushrooms were bland and didn't taste right, including the weird cream sauce they were floating in. We had intended on eating dinner but after seeing how dirty the restaurant was and how awful the appetizer tasted we decided to just get the check and eat elsewhere. We used to really love this restaurant but it's very obvious things have drastically gone down hill and the restaurant isn't being maintained the way it should be. I don't see ever coming back here Unfortunately.

Got the plate for 2, which comes with a little bit of everything. It was absolutely perfect, had me so full and we had a heavy box to take home for dinner. Such a homely vibe feels like you're sitting in some random German family's house. So damn wunderbar- I will be coming back for more.

This place is every comfy. The service is great and they are all very knowledgeable on the menu. I highly recommend the sauerkraut torte. It's perfect for chocolate lovers.

Haus Murphy's is my go-to spot for authentic German comfort food. The schnitzel is amazing, and the outdoor beer garden is perfect for enjoying Arizona's cooler evenings. Fantastic service too!

I went to this restaurant for the first time and I was very impressed. The waitress was very nice. The restaurant great feeling about it and I felt very comfortable. I had the bratwurst and the meal was excellent. I tried the other food from the plates of my family and I was impressed with the quality of those plates too. I will be back to this restaurant and I look forward to going back.

We have dined here many times and the Oma's meatloaf was horrible tonight. The most dry meal ever served and when told after two bites, all the server came back and said, was I took $2.69 cents off the bill. He asked if we wanted a box The potato pancakes are really what we come back for, but it will be awhile. Perhaps they have a new chef.

I was stationed in Germany for many years and although I'm not a regular at Haus Murphy, I knew I could count on it when I craved a good schnitzel in AZ. Not sure what's changed lately, but I'm sad to share that the quality of the food is not the same. The last couple of times my wife and I went, the Jaeger Schnitzel was very dry and overcooked. The Black Forrest Torte (dessert) seemed not to be fresh. It was also dry. I would like to go back one more time, but not sure if the third time would be a charm or a trend.
